I generally like Macy's but this is the most rundown saddest Macy's I've ever been to. I don't know if they're re-modelling or what they're doing but the store feels disorganized. They have backpacks together with silverware and most of the comforters were laying on the floor. We were there for maybe an hour and it took maybe 45 minutes before we even saw someone who worked there. I will never again be returning to this store. I was verbally abused by a group of women in the line at the Starbucks and by the time security got there, the women had left. I'm don't expect to go shopping and have fellow shoppers swearing at me and threatening me. I like this Macy's because it is not crowded and the staff here is always been welcoming and helpful. My best shopping experience here was on a Sunday right after Thanksgiving. There was hardly anyone in the store so i didn't have to feel bad about hogging up an associate with looking at various pieces of jewelry and inquiring about the prices. This Macy's is not as fancy like the ones at Tyson's Corner or Pentagon City, but it is my favorite to shop at. I often find better discounts here than those two Macy's. Parking is free and plentiful. I will miss the emptiness of the store when they complete the remodeling of the mall. I hope that the staff will retain their cheery attitude, but it would be difficult when they have to deal with the crowd. read more

The inventory in this store is terrible. I ordered shoes in the size I have been wearing for many years. The shoes were too large. I returned them to Macys at Springfield, VA and when I finally found someone to help me, I was only refunded the price of the shoes... not the 10 bucks I paid for shipping. I did nothing wrong. I expected shoes I ordered in my size to fit me, yet Macys will not give me a full refund. The clerk said, that's company policy. Here's my policy : I will NEVER shop at a store that rips people off. I'm specifically writing about the Lancome counter at the Macy's Springfield Mall. I don't ware makeup very often and realized that I wanted to wear makeup for my wedding but everything I had was expired so time to shop. I tried a half dozen places and this was the first place that really listened that what I wanted was a smooth coverage for photos but to not feel heavy or irritating and minimal other makeup. They walked me thru the steps, let me go home with a few days of trial and see how it felt after a few hours. VERY pleased with the results read more

Just bought Dolce & Gabana perfume as a birthday gift for my aunt. The lady who sold me the bottle said that they have 2 sizes a small for $95 and a large for $110... who would not get the large size right? So they ask me if I want it gift wrapped and I said sure. So the gal that was talking to me about the perfumes leaves with the bottle while someone else rings me up. Without telling me the total they ask me to swipe my card. I got my receipt and the total was $169!! I asked the lady about it and she said the smaller one was half this size... almost arguing with me about it! So I figured I'd ask the lady who sold it to me after she gift wrapped it... except we couldn't even find her! We asked around and they directed us to the dior counter... we then waited for like 20 minutes for her to come out with the perfume wrapped in hideous paper with scotch tape showing all over it. We asked her about the charge and she said "Oh they must've given you the big one!!" ..... YOU SOLD IT TO US! You couldn't SEE what you were carrying???? Like common... they said they could switch it out for us but we were in a hurry... no apology at all. I'm glad we're not from around here, we'd never come again anyway. read more

This Macy's has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced . The manager should be fired for not handling customer direct . Whoever the manager is sent word that the price is what it is take it or leave it. There were 50 coats of the same kind on the rack with 20-65 % off and I were told they are in the wrong place. And that they wouldn't honor the discount. The manager would not even come up and speak to me about the situation. This Macy's is toe up. The store looks like a Ross Dress for Less that got hit by a hurricane and then set on fire. Apparently when they redid Springfield Mall they forgot to tell Macy's.The employees are nowhere to be found when you need them. I attempted to purchase makeup at this location two days in a row. On the first day, the color of lipstick I wanted was apparently sold out, so the salesperson removed the tester. The next day when I returned, the sold out color was returned back to the display. It may have come back in stock overnight, but there's no way to know, because not one single person was willing to help me find out. When I finally did find someone who seemed willing, another customer came over ready to pay and the employee was like "oh, maybe such and such can help you." No thanks. I'll help myself on over to another store staffed by people who aren't too busy gossiping with their coworkers to help me. Bottom line, if you're looking for makeup, skip this disgusting travesty of a department store and just go to Sephora. read more

I just happened to be here at INC women's department to pick up my online order and to return a shoe. The lady at the counter, her name was Beverly, was what a breath of fresh air. She was extremely helpful, sweet and provided me great customer service. We need more people like her anywhere, in any customer service. I do not like Macy's and this one did not impress at all. I think that Macy's is overpriced for the things that they sell. And they try to trick people - with 50% off of the original price - well the original price is sky-high. so the half-off price is even more unreasonable. The selection at this store is sub-par at best. If you like something, you may have to either search very hard for your size - or ask one of the associates (if you can find one) if you can order it online - only for them to tell you that it has been discontinued. One thing that I've noticed - and maybe it's just me. But it seems like since the prices are outrageous at Macy's, people tend to purchase an item that they will wear for one day, and then return it. I've bought so many outfits to later find out they have holes, have been stretched - I've even seen something on the floor that had a huge stain on it. And one last thing - for some reason it is always hot in this location. Like the a/c does not circulate in all the departments. This Macy's is terrible! There is no service, in regards to cell service and the employee customer service! The employees are not knowledgable and are not empathic to customers. They don't have "boxes and tissue paper" whenever I ask but when someone else does they most certainly do, I believe it is in discrimination of my age. My review is for the service specifically received in the furniture and mattress department by Obaid. He greeted my friends and I as we entered and was helpful but not pushy. He was more than accommodating when we had tons of questions for him to answer. I found an amazing couch and came the next day with my husband to confirm he liked it as well and make the purchase. Obaid welcomed me back, was sweet to my children, and again very helpful as my husband had questions about the layout and size of the sectional we were looking at. When it came to checkout, he was clear, detailed and efficient at getting us our delivery date and completing our transaction. Me and my daughter ended up at the Mac counter so we can look at lipsticks, I ended up getting a match to foundations. The young lady named Shukri assisting me was working alone on a Sunday.. She kindly assisted everyone and my daughter began to get a-bit agitated, as soon as she noticed she offered my daughter some markers and a makeup chart to color which my daughter was over the moon about! After getting everyone settled she assisted with foundations. I really appreciate her showing me tips and tricks to great looking foundation!! and giving my daughter stickers! All I can say is what happened to their customer service. I worked at Macy's on the weekends during my college years to get discounts and I throughly enjoyed it. Everyone wore all black which was classy. Now everyone wearing whatever it seems and has a nasty attitude. No more class. I was there looking for jackets in the men's section. I was trying to find a certain color and also someone to help me. I found someone at a register she is older with glasses and of Indian descent if I'm not mistaken. She was bagging the persons clothes and there was no one else after that person. So I said excuse me can you please help me when you done. She rudely said to me can't you see I'm helping someone here ma'am. I was so taken back I didn't know what to say and just left. WTH!!! The person then who she was ringing up made a very sympathetic face as well and was surprised. Then upstairs there was a women at the women's active wear and she didn't even greet me just rang everything up and threw it in a bag. I am new to the area and this Macy's location is the closest to where I am living. I have worked for a Macy's store in my hometown and my cousin has worked for Macy's for nearly 15 years. This Macy's location is a disgrace to the company! True, it does have some things going against it due to the rundown mall situation. However, the lighting in this store is quite dark and the layout of the store feels poorly organized compared to that of the Macy's I have been in from my small hometown to that of the flagship store in Manhattan. I had received a gift card from my cousin who works for Macy's as a Christmas gift. I needed some new pillows and know the great deals that Macy's often has on bedding, so they were my first choice. The first thing I noticed as I approached the Bedding department was that there was not a single sales associate in the area (my guess was that they were in housewares). I spent a good 20 minutes looking at the selections and comparing their feels to each other while trying to come to a decision. Still never saw nor heard a sales associate. The pillows I decided on were on special for an extra percentage off if you used your Macy's card and I didn't have mine with me but knew if I had one of the sales associates pull up my account they could print out a shopping pass. Still no associate in Bedding. I went to Housewares but they were overwhelmed with customers so I went down to the second floor to the Ladies' Clothing department. In passing I saw an associate and asked her if she could help me. I stated that I didn't have my card with me and was wanting to get my information so I could get the slip and use my card today while shopping. Apparently she was too busy to be of help as she told me I would need to speak with Customer Service and pointed me towards the courtesy phones. I decided to forgo the extra savings and just get the pillows with my gift card, so I returned to the Bedding department (still no associate in the department). With no associate in Bedding I took my two pillows to housewares but the associates were all standing around gabbing with one another so I went down to the Ladies' Clothing department again and found a woman with only one customer in line. I asked her if she could look up my account, that I was thinking of using a shopping pass on the purchase. She couldn't find me in the system after entering information from my Drivers License. She asked me again for my license and also for a credit or debit card. I must have given her a funny look because she said that it was just to verify that I was who I said I was while she looked up the account another way. She had me enter my ssn and dob on the touchpad of the signature capture device. This was normal when I worked at Macy's but the next part wasn't. The screen asked me if I wanted to enroll in the protection plan. It hit me as odd but considering the recent credit industry fallout I thought perhaps they were thinking of their customers (like my cell phone company had decided to re-offer their insurance to everyone). I asked the sales associate if she was running a check for an existing account or if she was running an application for a new account. She said existing account and that the system just needed all the information for verification. I replied with relief stating that I was glad it was only a search as I didn't want to open a second account or run a new credit application. She asked me to sign on the pad--I thought she had found my account but it turned out she had actually run a new credit application on me even though I had just stated that I did not want that to be done. Turns out my old account had been closed because I hadn't used it in a year. The new application was denied (which I knew it would be hence my NOT wanting to put a hit on my credit report). I got the letter of denial in the mail approx. three weeks later. I would have gone and talked to the manager of the store but my cousin said that because they hire so many temp workers over the holidays that the woman would likely never be spoken to and the problem never fixed--all I could do was to warn other people to not go to that store or to be extra careful if they did. Personally, I will NEVER return to this store because of this experience but even if that woman wouldn't had been fraudulent with me in her claims I still wouldn't have returned because the customer service is poor, the store is understaffed and the lighting is dismal. If you're in the area and want to go to Macy's, check out the location at the Landmark Mall. It's well lit, fully staffed with friendly sales associates and your experience will be a thousand times better than if you went to this location at the Springfield Mall. read more

I'm a regular customer at this Macy's but yesterday was the first time I bought shoes here. The experience with the guy cashier bothered me. First of all, the cost of the ladies work shoes I bought was $63.00 which he said I would be charged yesterday. Then he said I won't be charged for something else until Thursday. Like, what? He keeps rushing through whatever he was saying, and it was already late (around 8pm) so I was in a hurry to get out of there. He then asked for a phone number? He said it was required, which I replied "No".. as he was packing my shoes in the shopping bag, he said the reason the phone number is required is because, usually the customers don't leave with the shoes on the same day so they will have to pick it up a few days later. Are you serious? Now that is a load of crap. Who would ever come to a store just to pay for shoes and not leave with them? I just paid for them. I had to get out of there quick before I ended up saying something I wasn't planning on ever saying yesterday when I first walked into Macy's. It was actually very disrespectful of him to think that a lie like that could be believable to me or any customer. I was returning a ring--the customer service rep at the jewelry dept. was not very helpful making problems with the refund options (pushing clearly for a store credit) and somehow unprofessional making comments to the other CSR about the merchandise I was returning. At the end I received my refund in the form that I wanted but the unnecessary hassle with a simple operation leaves a little bitter aftertaste. read more

We purchased a shirt and after washing it in cold water and air dry (first wash), it shrunk to unwearable. 5 days after buying it (on my Macy's card), I returned with it to the store in springfield, and was told by both the sales staff and manager. they now only accept clothing in sell-able condition. "sorry, nothing we can do". I had about $100 of stuff I was going to buy but left it on counter. Customer service at Macy's is a thing of the past. Came here on Columbus day and was absolutely disgusting by the customer service! I was waiting in the line with my cousin and we happened to be the last in line. One lady closed her line instead of taking us while the other line was in use. When the lady in front of us finished, the two ladies left me and my cousin waiting in the line while they chatted as if we weren't there. I know the lady saw us because we made eye contact TWICE! Once during their conversation. My cousin had to say "excuse me" with a stern voice before one of them looked over at us. And the worst part is that they didn't apologize for "not seeing us" which makes me believe that it was intentional. The two ladies were Asians about 5'6 brown/black hair. Unfortunately I will not be shopping here again after the way they treated me and my cousin. I hope this store finds better employees.
