Yesterday, my mom, my daughter, and I went to Macy's to shop for a dress for my son's upcoming wedding. We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful selection of dresses--they had so many beautiful options to choose from! After finding a dress I loved, I realized I had forgotten my glasses and couldn't tell if they had it in my size. I asked a sales associate named **Shay** for help, and she was absolutely wonderful. After I explained that I loved the dress but needed a slightly shorter fit, she suggested I try the petite section. She personally walked me over, found the exact same dress in a petite size, and it fit perfectly! Along the way, she asked about my son's wedding and was so warm, personable, and genuinely kind. Her professionalism and customer service were exceptional. Later that day, I realized I had accidentally left my sweater in the dressing room. When we returned to look for it, we couldn't find it anywhere. Shay took my name and phone number, assured me she would keep looking, and offered to text me if she found it. We stopped back later that day, and although she hadn't located it, she told me she had been looking for it throughout the day. I was so touched by the effort she made. Not only was Shay outstanding, but everyone we encountered in the department was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They truly made our shopping experience far better than we expected. I wanted to take the time to recognize Shay and the entire team for providing such exceptional customer service. It's rare to find employees who go above and beyond the way they did, and they absolutely deserve the recognition. This Macy's location is in the Westfield Oakridge mall. It's a fairly smaller Macy's compared to other locations. I don't shop here as much as I used to. Their inventory is minimal. Their selection in many of the departments is minimal. I stopped by to return a Christmas gift that I received that didn't work out. I went directly to the customer service area where you do the returns. It wasn't too busy and there were only 2 people ahead of me. The Macy's associate greeted me when it was my turn. She asked me for proof of purchase. There was no gift receipt that came with the gift. It used to be, that the tag had the return barcode on it, but apparently this has changed. All she could do was return it for the price it currently was, since I didn't have a gift receipt. I'm not sure why they changed their policy, but that just made things more complicated. Then she said she had to wait and see what the register does after she processes the return. I might get a store credit on a gift card or might receive it in the mail. Luckily I was able to get it on a gift card right then. I'll have to remember when I purchase a gift here in the future to ask for a gift recipient. That way the person who receives my gift won't have to deal with this craziness if they aren't happy with my gift. Other than that, my experience with the customer service was good. read more

Stopped in at Macy's today at Oakridge Mall in search of a new purse and sandals. Macy's used to be my favorite department store years ago, but I stopped shopping there a while back because I felt the quality of their clothes went downhill. The store looked clean and had plenty of inventory and cashiers. I noticed in the purse department they no longer carry some of their old staples like Dooney & Bourke and Coach, but there were plenty of other brands and I found a purse I liked for 40% off (Labor Day sale). The woman who rang me up was very helpful and friendly, and there was no pressure to open a Macy's account like there was in the old days. The shoe department was a bit of a disappointment because they only had one pair of sandals I liked and they were out of my size and the next size up. I didn't have time to see if the quality of the clothes had improved, but I'd go back and shop there again under the right circumstances. read more

I grew up working at Macy's, first at Eastridge Mall, then Valley Fair, so I've always had a soft spot for the brand. The store I actually live closest to now is the Macy's at Oakridge Mall, and for years it honestly felt like it was declining. The brands weren't as strong, the sales floor felt neglected, and the dressing rooms were constantly overflowing with racks, piles of go-backs, and clothes everywhere. As someone who worked in retail, I know customers don't always pick up after themselves, but it was clear the store was overwhelmed and understaffed. It stopped feeling like a store and started feeling like an empty box filled with fixtures and clutter. But something has changed, and I want to acknowledge it, because it's noticeable. Over the last 9-12 months, this Macy's has made a huge transformation. The store is open and clean. Dressing rooms are empty from piles of clothes. Go-backs aren't piling up. And for the first time in years, I've actually had sales associates approach me to ask if I needed help: friendly, present, and visible. It feels like a real store again, with energy and people who care. I know retail has changed over the decades, fewer employees, more online shopping, cost-cutting everywhere, but experiences like this remind me why some of us want to shop in person. When a store feels cared for, we want to support it. And honestly, I've bought more in the last couple of visits than I have in a long time. Whatever happened behind the scenes, whoever made the decision to turn things around -- thank you. This is my hometown Macy's, the mall I've been going to for 40+ years, just a few miles from home. I'm at the Target in this mall all the time, and now I actually look forward to walking through Macy's again. Really appreciate the effort this location has put in to bring the store back to life. Cam into Macy's to take advangae of the holiday sales they had going on. The store is all deced out for Chrismas and they had lots of holoiday cheer through out the store. Loved all the sequin and bedazzled outfits and dresses, and most of them where on sale, score. Sequin pant siuts caught my eye and loved the color in black and dark gray almost pewter color. Lots of holiday dresses to chose from and all sizes available. Subtracting 1 star because in my opinion, there is more of a selection in the smaller sizes verses the women's sizes, bummer. Purfumes are on sale and they come in gitf packages which are really a great deal. I splurged and came home with 2 of my favorite fragrances with some free gift which are always nice and appreciated. December is the best time of year to purshase your favorite fragrances for yourself or for gift. This is just my opinion. Shoe depaertment was busy with all the women looking for that special holiday shoe. Lots of sparkle and bedazzlement going on for the holidays. Clearance section had some nice shoes to pick from and I found some really nice Sam Eddelmen boots for half price. So bummer]ed that it was the only pair and they were too big. read more

I think this store is under rated. On the 2nd floor in the corner they have a toy section for kids. And this section has a great selection of toys at great prices! For example they have Bluey toys, legos, and Disney Princess dolls. Parking is very ample right outside the store. Today I took my 5 year old daughter to pick up a Disney Princess doll with the money she saved up. read more

When she finished with his sale (& she double checked on him even after my sale that he had freebies straws-flirting was INAPPROPRIATE). I asked for perfume for my daughters. Store manager needs to have their managers retrain cashiers. These cashiers don't know how to ring the items properly and after you realize they over charged you they tell you to go to customer service because they don't know how to fix the issue. 5 customers and myself were all redirected here and have to wait a long line. There are a lot of improvements that this store needs and this is a top one. read more

This is to see if the stores fixes their phone extensions. I have trying calling for three weeks to check the status of a jewelry repair, and every single time I call the store not a single extension works. I even tried calling in as an employee and I got no one on the phone. I will encourage people not to buy their jewelry and jewelry repair program, because now this feels like a scam. I am just trying to get my jewelry back. read more

Service is mediocre. The shoe department has it SOMEWHAT together. They've helped me out even when I ask them for multiple pairs. Or have them go back and forth with shoes. No complaints there. The purse area is A MESS. Not sure if I'd ever be able to find anything. The woman's clothes area has tons of clothes on the floor and tons of empty hangers. No comment on the men's section as I've never visited that section. Don't even get me started on the cosmetics section. The girls there are wonderful, at least the ones that are actually there. Estee Lauder, Clinique and Bobby Brown workers are amazing and there's always someone on the floor to help out other brands. I don't know what it is in regards to all the photos I added. Oakridge Mall Macy! I have to say, it's been a long time since I shopped at Macys, my return was the best experience it could possibly be. I was looking for slack Pants and Samantha who was working in the men clothing area asked me what items I'm looking for. I was looking for multiple pairs of slack pants, i let her know the colors I had in mind, after, she immediately began searching and looking for them, her enthusiasm was off the chart in a amazing way! I'm still looking for one of the slack pants I have in mind, and one minute later Samantha comes back and hands me every slack pants I had in mind! I was shocked/amazed/surprised! Fantastic customer service. It didn't end there, Samantha helped me with multiple questions I had, she informed me on reward points information I didn't know about. Thank you Samantha because it was an awesome experience! I am going to continue shopping here and I'm glad Samantha works there because she is truly someone who cares and wants to help in what you are looking for. read more

I get it... Macy's is Macy's. But coming to Oakridge from Eastridge was very refreshing. This Macy's is not depressing at all. However, the selection of kids' shoes is still scarce. We lucked out and found the last pair of nice Nine West dress shoes for boys. The rest of the store is cool and upbeat and feels nice and clean. This will be my new go-to for Toys R Us toys. All items are super discounted from the retail price, so you can find some pretty good deals! read more

What a shame! Macy's used to be a good place to shop for men's clothing because their sales people provided decent service. Now, the store is more like a K-Mart. There was minimal staff. Nobody offered any assistance and I doubt they could help even if there was more staff. The employees were focused on their own concerns, like the customers didn't matter. Several of the fitting rooms were closed, and the open rooms were not staffed. The cashiers were disinterested, and were totally ungracious, even surly. It's sad to see an iconic brand going down the tubes. They won't last long if the other locations are like this poorly run shadow of its former self. If you are in this mall, you'll have a better experience at Target. read more

Had to make that stop for the bday present. Macy's at the Westfield Shopping Mall in south San Jose was back in business. It was not that busy. The parking lot was not full and the crowd of people was pretty small compared to the normal chaotic shopping days. Customer service was find somebody from any department?? I had to get the lady Colleen from Jewelry to help me find some ladies sweaters. The place was quiet. It was kind of scary, eerie walking around with only 10 people on the floor? Overall I found the 4 sweaters I was going to buy. 2 Karen Scott & 2 Tommy Hilfiger Faux-Sherpa Cardigan. The lady Colleen made a difference in customer service for my mission and helped me find some nice sweaters for the lady of the house. I only go shopping 4 times a year. Sadly this location is a huge mess with so much merchandise just laying on the floor. I had a question about a brand and could not find a single employee for 15 minutes. The checkout line was long. I feel bad for the few employees who are clearly overworked and exhausted. Parking is so tough. I prefer other locations that try to keep some organization and cleanliness. read more

I came in today to buy a blazer, and found a nice green Tommy highflier on clearance for 50% off. I go to the register and it was full price!, I made sure that it wasn't placed there and there were similar blazers in the clearance section. I spoke with the manager and she confirmed that they were placed correctly in the clearance section but were ringing up full price and could not take the 50% off. I am just astounded that macys would have FALSE ADVERTISING, they knew they put the product in the correct place but were trying to charge full price. Just a disappointing situation. read more

My SIL was in need of a few beauty products and since I was already at the mall- why not go and do her a quick favor?? I immediately headed to the Lancôme kiosk and stood around until someone asked us if we were in need of assistance. First off, I'm standing around looking for someone to make eye contact with so yes, I am in need of help. I tell her that I'd like to make 2 purchases but one is a separate brand. She informs me that she can go and grab the other item and ring me up in one transaction. SCORE!! The sales associate doesn't seem to speak English very well and when I informed her of the 2nd item, she just looked at me with a blank stare. With the help of another associate [who clearly didn't seem eager to help] she finally managed to retrieve my 2nd item. We go to the ring things up and she's trying to make another sales pitch about opening a Macy's credit card. At this point the transaction had dragged on a lot longer than I wanted and anticipated so I immediately respond with "no thanks". As if the tone wasn't enough of a hint, she continues to mock my "no thanks" and tells me that I must have been asked that a million times and asks why I'm not interested. UGH!!!! I'm forced to just bluntly tell her to speed things along because I'm just trying to get out of here.... This place is an absolute MESS!! Sales associates stand around with unfriendly faces and aren't willing to help each other out in making quick, efficient transactions. Wednesday 11/3 5:30 tried to buy some items at the lingerie register. An employee was sitting and folding panties. After a few seconds, I asked if I could pay for my items. She looked at me, not moving and said I'll be there in a minute. She folded 5 more, then slowly came to register. No hello, no nothing but did you want the hangers? No Do you have the card? Yes. I have bought makeup and clothes from Macy's many times for myself and family. Love the brands they carry. Often buy clothes for the kids and husband here. If you have their card there's extra promotional discounts that are great as well. Parking is always horrendous there even on a weekday, but fortunately there is a spot albeit pretty far off from the entrance. Employees are very pleasant and cordial which I appreciate. I am big on hospitality and actually showing basic good customer service to customers and I always see that here. read more

This particular mall in general has improved drastically, in terms of what it has to offer. Back in the day, Nordstrom used to be the main attraction here, but they left this mall many years ago. I can't say that Macy's is the main attraction, but it does draw in much more business than Sears. One thing I did notice was there wasn't very many sales people on the floor. That is like a double edged sword right? When you need help, NO one is around. When you DON'T need help, everyone is trying to help you, AND they will try and push you to apply for a Macy's card. Based on my visit, everything was in order, and not once was I ever approached by a sales person. I didn't mind, because I knew exactly what I was looking for. The gal that rang me up was friendly, but she didn't have to do much to get credit for the sale. Scan a couple of items, and then take credit for sale you had absolutely nothing to do with! Now that's an easy gig! LOL Conclusion: Located in one of the busier mall in San Jose - Parking is an issue - Sales people are scarce. "I'LL BE BACK" (Only if I am already in the mall. I wouldn't make a special trip out to this Macy's. You are better off going to Valley Fair.) read more

I have been at Macy's men's department, Oakridge Mall, San Jose, Ca on 04/11/2023 at around 2:30 PM. I picked a CLUB sweater from clearance department. Hear is the complaint:- 1. There was no where to find a cashier to check out. 2. Finally, the security guard directed me and CB others to go to a place where they sale bed room and kitchen mattresses. 3. There was African American/Asian Women with short hair and skinny, training other 2 Asian women. The line was growing, about 10 people. After repeated complaints, with rude manners and negative attitude, she took us to a shoos department to check us out herself. I was the first on the line, she didn't take our complaint lightly. Instead of the red tag price, she wanted to charge me a higher price instead of honoring the red tag. She refused to give me her name and covered her name label. I don't recommend to anyone to go to this store. read more

Safety here is not kept in mind. 12/21/18 Kitchen area allows the display knives to be pulled out for all to grab and wander the store. After telling a staff member they were in kids reach - Rosa's response after physically seeing they had over 15 knives was "they shouldnt be left alone" and walked away. ... she also said managers never answer the phones. After shopping here i returned after 30 minutes and they were still there! I added a few photos to show some knives kids and adults can grab and walk away with. Many were already missing. The selection is not as good as VF. My last couple of visits to Macy's were to get a eye brow/ lip wax at the Benefit Cosmetics Counter, add more pieces to our Villeory & Boch china and search for a great face cream. The housewares section is very disorganized and trying to find someone to help you out is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Not all the cosmetic counters are staffed- which is a major disappointment. The customer service at the Philosophy & Chanel counters are good. Recently, picked up some eye shadow at Philosophy and face cream at Chanel. The Chanel Hydramax + Active moisturizing cream is fantastic- it has really helped with my dry skin and it has very little fragrance. Definitely will be back to visit the Philosophy & Chanel counter for my makeup and skin care needs. read more

I was in the perfume section downstairs where I spot Marc jacobs perfume and I was helped with a very sweet woman I believe she had silver hair? Shot cut, had double mask on, and was wearing a grey sweater. She helped me out so much and was spraying tester after testers for me to smell and see which perfume I liked and she showed me a Burberry her. And it smells so sweet but also makes me feel dominant you can smell the innocent version but you know the after smell is a dominant woman. She really helped me find a good perfume after I told her I wanted a dominant boss woman perfume and this one smells so nice I love it! I did not get her name and I wished I did! I will try to look things positively unlike many reviewers here. Start with pricing: The sales they have (Not all the time) are the best deal in town. Second, the merchandise: A lot, and many different sizes (Not like sales when you can only find XXX LARGE or Small. Employees are not easy to to work with, and until you find one they don't really want to help. I decided to go with 4 stars because the bottom line of shopping at Macy's might not be perfect, but it is good. Recommend. read more

I love Macy's but recently it's been a hot mess inside this location I hate the clearance madness and it seems everything is mixed in everywhere even in the areas that aren't clearance which makes it more challenging to find regular items. I will say the team members were very professionals and kind. The line was pleasantly tolerable versus the normal chaos of one cashier and a crazy long line.
