Macy's (Kapolei - Ka Makana Ali'i). (3 stars). I'm a simple human when it comes to shopping. I don't like walking around malls or going "window shopping". So for me, this Macy's is perfect!! It has a downsized version of most departments! It's a ONE story building which has 4 exits and converges in the middle to the fine jewelry!! The big difference that I noticed with this location is that there are less registers and less people on the floor! My friend and I went to the Grand Opening and yet it was hard to find salespeople!! I got the wicked awesome luck of having their computer system crash during my transaction so I had to wait 32 minutes for a full reboot. Yes I had to have my colorful Under Armour socks damnit!! :) It seemed like every cashier was stressed out because the computer system was sooooooo slow (my guess is the servers weren't equipped to have all these transactions at the same time??)... Maybe I'm wrong. Every single register had 10 plus people waiting. Some people said they were waiting for 45 minutes!! I didn't hold it against Macy's but hopefully things get better!! Note: The store manager told me Macy's Woman (Plus size) is supposed to open by October 21, 2016 (along with the rest of the mall). My friend was looking for a bunch of kitchen appliances that were advertised in the newspaper but sadly this location didn't have any of them. I felt bad since she came specifically to check out this new Macy's and to buy kitchen wares... Since we had no luck in the Home department we moved on to the makeup department... My friend and I stopped to do what she called, "A quick 3 minute makeover! No worry Jan, it's free we just going try!"... LOL it took us 45 minutes since the makeup artists were part of a national Glam Team. It also wasn't free! I walked out with $125 worth of skin care and my friend walked out with $100 worth of makeup... I just opted for the skincare routine while my friend went with the full makeover. She got lucky since normally the makeover costs $75 from the Glam Team!! It's not something I would normally do... Sigh... The things I do for friends!! Haha!! After that we ended up going to the shoe department... Finish Line is the "Shoe Department" in this Macy's. However it is a separate company so if you show your MILITARY ID you get 10% off all shoes (EXCEPT NIKE)!! Macy's is what it is. A decent cheap department store. If you're lucky, you can use their coupons every once in a while. But if you're like me, apparently everything I want in here can't be combined with coupons!! Ugh. Parking is ample and on-site. The parking lot is currently a maze but once all the construction is done there will be more than enough parking!! All in all, even after dealing with so many let downs... I would come to this location just because it is closer to me. The customer service here was on point. All the cashiers sincerely apologized to all of us who had to stand in line. I heard that the Macy's Management may consider making this location bigger if they find there is a need. I hope they keep it small. At least I don't feel lost in this store!! read more

Not as big as the other locations here on the island. But I did do a online purchase with a instore pickup and this review is based solely on this experience. I took advantage of their Black Friday preview sale and did a in store pickup. With in seconds you get a email and text confirming your order. Within an hour you get a text and email stating your order is ready for pickup. This info also includes directions on how to get there, where in the store to pickup your items and a scannable barcode. Once I got there I went straight to their service counter which is located in the men's clothing section closest to the Mauka parking entrance. There was no line and the customer service was very friendly and even complementing me on my purchase and how good of a deal it was. Within minutes of her scanning my barcode she was walking out from the back room with my purchase. This was such a cost saving, fast and friendly experience. I will try to utilize the online purchasing with a in-store pickup more often. read more

This review is for In-Store Pick Up. I don't have time to really shop in person. I needed a dress for a funeral and found one online. There was 1 left in my size and was available for free In-Store Pick Up. (The shipping option wanted to charge me surcharge for living on a rock + shipping cost = Hell no). My order was ready for pick up a couple hours later, but I didn't get a chance to pick it up till a couple days later. Picking up my order was a breeze. When I got in my car, I took the dress out of the bag. The dress comes with a necklace with lobster clasps attached to loops near the shoulders on the neckline so that the necklace drapes down the chest. One of the loops was broken so the necklace was just hanging awkwardly. Then when I got home and tried it on, I noticed there was a rip in the fabric on the back near a seam. The dress fits, but I want to get the dress altered because I have short girl problems. I'll have them fix the rip and loop also, but what bothers me is that I wasn't contacted about the damages on the dress by any employees prior to letting me know that my order was ready for pick up. The employee who rang me up obviously had to see that something wasn't right with the necklace when she retrieved my order. And whoever picked the dress from the floor in the first place should've seen it as well. Employees need to be trained to check clothing for damages and contact customers and ask if we still want it. It would be a waste of time for me to drive to the store, check the dress for damages, and to get a refund if there are. Otherwise, In-Store Pick Up would be In-Convenient. If you're going to sell me a damaged dress, at least give me a deeper discount. read more

This is based upon the Fine Jewelry Department! I have come here many of times experiencing their truck shows, had the pleasure to go to 2 of them so far and loved every one and me ending up purchasing a beautiful ring (which I do love). So far I had the pleasure to have most of the ladies as my sales but Ann is the one that stands out for me, she texts me for upcoming truck shows and lets me know when my ring is finished and gives me information on the stones I purchased. The store is clean, and the show case is very tempting especially the discount section.....lol! Pleasure to go and just talk with them and they don't pressure you to buy but their jewelry is very nice and you find super sales that you just can't turn down!! It was my first time checking out the new Macys in Ka Makana Alii this past weekend with my bf. We came early to look around before the Yelp movie night at Olino theaters started. I was sure surprised how small this Macy's store is. It reminds me of the Macy's location in Prince Kunio Plaza in Hilo. It's all one level. Limited merchandise and a handful of staff manning several departments. My bf was looking at the men's shoe department. There was no shoe that he liked so he decided not to exchange his Macy's gift. There wasn't much selection. But plenty of local and tropical merchandise displayed on the ranks and tables. But the one thing that appealed to me was the white marble flooring. It was so clean and shiny. Shoppers will feel like they are in a fancy upscale store like Bloomingdales, Sak's 5th Ave or Nordstrom. The bathrooms are clean and well kept. There are 4 stalls. I'm sure a line will form during the holiday times. Look for the restroom lettering on the wall in the kitchenware department. There needs to be more signs so customers won't need to ask employees frequently. This is probably the only restrooms for employees and customers to use. There is a family restroom in the junior clothing department. The Store's times are weird on Yelp site vs the Macy's website. On the store's site says they open from 10am to 9pm on Mondays to Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays 9am to 10pm. Sundays 10am to 6pm. But the Yelp site says Macy's open from 10am to 9pm Mondays to Saturdays. Sundays 10am to 6pm. The store times needs to be clearly stated. People will come on this site and the store's website be very confused. read more

I live so close to the mall and I like coming here for my skincare and makeup because the ladies in the department are so helpful! Although considering it's a relatively slow store/mall, and it may be hard to find an associate due to lack of staffing, the ladies in the makeup department always help out and go to other counters. They don't hesitate which I like because I'm always using products from different counters often. I'm bad with names but I think the ladies from Shiseido, Lancome, and Estee, are always so willing to help no matter what counter they work for or what counter you need help in. Especially if I needed something in Clinique and there seems to be no one ever there (never understood that) I always end up pulling someone from Lancome or Shiseido to help me. I appreciate how clean and bright the store is--it makes it easier to shop. I do wish there were more selections, selfishly and specifically in the women's shoes and makeup departments, but overall a decent place to shop! Most of the associates I've interacted with at this location were relatively friendly. Although I've considered going to Pearlridge simply because of a better selection, I'll still choose Kapolei because of the area convenience, slow traffic, and customer service. It's the holidays so let's enjoy our shopping experiences, to allow retail workers to enjoy their hectic jobs during the busiest and most stressful time of the year. Always nice to have a Macy's in a mall. This one is not as busy as the Ala Moana location. The layout and items sold are similar, if not the same as the other Macy's. You may find something here that's available and not sold out like the one in Ala Moana. read more

New Macy's in Kapolei. Pluses of a new store is that it is clean, especially the bathroom. The layout of the store is simple that you cannot get lost. Downside of the store is that it is small. i would have expected a larger store. I guess there may be a regulation that you cannot have a 2 story store, so the store is only a single level. The department sections are small. The men's section is about the size of a store in Ala Moana. The cosmetic/fragerance department is also disappointing in size. If you are a shopper and want a larger variety, then you will have to shop at the Ala Moana store. But if you don't mind and live nearby, then this place may work for you. read more

I love the fantastic deals here and the fact that I almost never pay full price. Great to shop online with the option of curb side pick up if it's stocked. I would leave a review about my last encounter with the woman in the shoe section but this review isn't about that... I went to Ala Moana this week; ironically both of the dresses sizes au wanted were only available at Kamakana Alii. I do love Macy's. Oddly enough, though, I've never shopped at this location, less than 4 miles form my house, until recently. You see, when Ka Makana Ali'i first opened, it was mentioned that this particular Macy's was going to cater towards "local flare" meaning more summer-wear clothing and accessories. I found this to be a cool idea, even though a lot of my mainland friends didn't think so. I decided to stop by during Thanksgiving weekend. I'm heading to Vegas next month and need winter clothes. Well, let's just say although they have non-island styles, they in no way are stocked to sell winter clothing to those of us who travel to colder climates. They have stylish boots for women and the men's section has jackets and vests. But the closest thing you'll find for warmer weather for women are a few sweatshirts and sweaters. Needless to say, I'm going to have to shop elsewhere or take advantage of Cyber Monday. Regardless, I do appreciate this store. It's on the corner of the shopping mall, only one story. Plenty of parking all the way around at the shopping center. It is strange that there is only one floor...whereas H&M right down the strip has 2 floors. Yes, this Macy's is quite a bit smaller than the other Macy's on the island. It's probably the smallest Macy's I have ever stepped foot in. I noticed the regular: bedding, kids, juniors, mens, womens, plus, make-up, fragrance, and watches...but that's about it. The staff seemed nice...especially on Black Friday evening! Worst customer service I've ever had in a Macy's or Liberty House. The cosmetics department is so disorganized and the workers don't seem to know where anything is for each brand counter. Knowledge of products were poor and they also didnt know of gifts w purchases available when I asked for a few different items. The service itself was terrible. I was ready to drop money on a lot of products but the workers made me feel very unvalued as they seem to be more interested in talking story or shouting across the floor at each other even while helping me! So rude. They rushed me through my shopping as if they had something else better to do. Constantly asking "is that it?" No up selling going on here that's for sure. Also if you buy more than one item they make you pay separate each time, such an inconvenience to the customer when you have a bunch of products. Basically it's not about you the customer. It's about them! The vibes are also negative the workers don't seem happy to be there and don't go out of their way at all to help you. So, I will not patronize this location at all. They don't deserve my hard earned money. I will drive to Ala Moana Macy's where the service is ALWAYS awesome or give my business to Ulta Beauty- another place that service is always great. It's so surprising to experience this during an unprecedented time for us all where people don't have jobs, or lost/reduced income, etc. I expected to see a lot more hustle in the workers especially since this location has been closed during the lockdown. I am appalled that Macy's at Ka Manaka Ali'i has so many decent reviews. Worst Macy's on the island!! Even though I live in Kapolei, I would rather make the drive to the Pearlridge location. There is very minimal selection of merchandise and sizes, in comparison to other locations. Good luck finding a cashier. It is a ghost town!! We have shopped at this store multiple times, and I have always struggled to find someone to process my transaction. It was a challenge even right after Christmas, while many people were doing returns/exchanges. After walking around the store multiple times trying to find a cashier open, I finally found one. She was taking forever to help the customer infront of me. After waiting another 10 minutes or so, I was still upset as she was SUPER SLOW and almost seemed like she didn't know what she was doing with my exchange. Apparently, the christmas gifts that did not fit my kids were purchased over 30 days prior to date, and on "last act" a.k.a clearance so they did not take the items for exchange, not even for a store credit. For future references, it would not be a good idea to buy these "last act" items for gifts, as it may be an issue for people who are busy working and have a family and don't always have time to go to the store. I DO NOT recommend this Macy's location unless absolutely necessary. You'd be better off taking a drive to Pearlridge. read more

Horrible experience with Macy's item return. 1. Contacted Macy's Customer Service on 5/28/20 via telecon. Informed of their 60 day return policy from purchase, even though the Macy's Stores were OPEN and NOT accepting merchandise returns IN the stores. 2. Further informed there was free delivery with UPS if I dropped off the item before 60 days from purchase. 3. As a result, I took my Macy's item to UPS and was told the item needed to be boxed ($6), which I agreed. However, I didn't know there was a $3.35 service fee, $2 to print Macy's label, since they couldn't scan the bar, and $.12 for a copy. The total cost amounted to $12.01; 1/2 of what my item cost!!!! I tried to call Macy's General and at Ka Makana Store telephone numbers and discovered there are NO associates to take calls. REALLY! Macy's associate was not clear in item returns with UPS and UPS was not upfront with costs related to their service until payment was due. I don't believe this the type of service Macy's has to offer their customers who had patronized them during the shutdown? read more

I only shop at this location because they carry Inglot cosmetics. Sadly the service here is CONSISTENTLY poor.... I cant say its horrible since Im able to flag another advisor at another counter. Just recently the advisor at impulse/inglot was chatting with the advisor at the Estee Lauder counter well over 10 minutes. She had left the register while I was approaching her.... figured she was going there for a second but after 5 minites of chit chat and giggling my husband got a sweet lady at Clinique to help. As the clinique advisor was ringing me up another inglot/impulse advisor just clocked in and had said "..... is always over there" This experience couldve been better if Inglot had their products out on display rather than stored away. I would have just picked up the product I needed and walk to an open register to purchase. read more

I recommended a beauty product to a friend and discovered it was available at Macy's. She went and got outstanding service. The beauty consultant, Austin, demonstrated how to use the product as well as another he thought she would like. She was impressed with the products and immediately bought them. She was so thrilled that she told me I had to come and get them too. So, within an hour, she and I went for Austin to work his magic on me. Unfortunately, Austin was on break, and and the consultant there said she would be more than happy to sell me the proper colors but she obviously was not at all interested in showing me how to use them. To me, this meant she would be very happy to sell me the items and get the commission but she wasn't at all interested in assisting me with how to use them. Thanks bit no thanks Macy's . . . I'll shop someplace else where I can find people who actually know what service is and are at least somewhat interested in having me as a customer. read more

This review is based on the Home Department. I went there today because I needed a new dish rack and after looking online to make sure this location had it, I set off to buy it. Walked into the Home dept. there were several younger girls just hanging out by the registers talking and I saw one other worker helping another customer already. I circled that entire dept. several times trying to find this dish rack and nothing!? These cashiers (I know they can help because I've been escorted by a cashier before to a product) still laughing and talking watching me go round and round. They looked at me several times, but NOT once asked if I needed help. Very poor customer service, they need to be retrained without pay!! I thought of asking the other lady, but she was still busy. At least someone was actually working and doing their job!! I decided not give my business to them due to what I saw today. Girls getting paid to stand around, laugh and talk story. I went to target instead. I would've gave them "0" stars, but I've had great experiences in other departments there. Not all depts. have incapable workers. Nuff said!! read more

Stopped by on a thursday evening to return an item and shop around. I went to the very first register near the entrance by the kitchenware/childrens section. There was one customer at the register and two associates. Both associates were busy talking with the customer about an item she was buying. The associate who was not helping the customer took her time to finish her conversation before acknowledging me at all. When she finally did I informed her I wanted to return an item. Keep in mind it was still in the box, never opened, with the Macys handle still attached to it. She then asked me, extremely rudely, "What's wrong with it?" I had not even touched the vacuum, let alone use it. I will definitely not return to this associate again, and will probably be shopping at pearl ridge from now on. read more

Ok, I'll be the first. Soft opening today (1 Sep). So, what can I say... it's Macy's. Not real big, just one level. It is the only business open in the new mall. Can't drive around the mall cuz they got it blocked off. Only went cuz we were curious about where the theater is and 24 Hour Fitness. It will be a very nice mall when it is all done. But... it is an outdoor mall and you know what that will mean in the summer... the Ewa/Kapolei plain is the hottest place on the island. Not much shade there. Nevertheless, look forward to working our in the new 24 Hr Fitness, followed by a movie and dinner... all in one place. read more

Also the clerk Elaine who went out of her way to make calls, to help my cousin find a size and color in a pant. Elaine really worked hard servicing us. A good start but needs work. Stood in line for 25 minutes for the cashier to take care of 3 customers. Highly suggest you either add more cashiers or train the one I stood there with to be faster. Don't take it as a knock as this is the first weekend but we love the fact there is no Honolulu crowd but with that lines should be faster not slower. The sears in Pearl Ridge is faster right now. I went in today to buy shoes and when I went home I realized they were 2 different pairs which makes no sense because the store was not busy at all, so I drove back all the way from Waipahu to Kapolei again and went back to the store to fix the mistake the MACY EMPLOYEES MADE!!!!! I felt I was being nice and really understanding of the situation but the girl at the counter was very rude, I felt she was insinuating I stole the shoes. I've never felt so insulted like do I look like I can't afford $10 shoes WTF???! Cecila I believe was her name messed up my purchase but it was the girl working in the shoe department at around 5pm on October 5 who pissed me tf off, this is really unprofessional behavior!!! She was like "Oh we have too look for the other pair now." Ummm try check the rack cause that's where I got the shoes! And no apology over their mistake, only cecila apologized which was why I acted civil during the situation and wasn't blowing up and acting like a fucking Karen. I wish I got her name. I was there 2 hours ago at Estee Lauder to buy a foundation and pencil eyebrow and to get this free aloha bag if you purchase worth $45. Horrible customer service. Went to buy a dress for my daughter. Signed up for email coupons online, instantly got a 25% off coupon. Went to check out and it wasnt working. Cashier told me to buy a giftcard for the amount then to turn around and use it. After I bought the card, we then found out that it couldn't be used for 24 hours and that you cannot void or refund the gift card. The manager that kept coming over told me just to use it on a future purchase. The cashier wrote down the managers name on the receipt (I didnt ask for her name) and the manager got very rude to her in front of me. read more

I have been going to this Macy's since open but always tried to avoid this cosmetic area because of bad experiences in the past. Instead of being ignored, like usual, she walked up to me and made me feel so welcomed. She went above and beyond for me and answered every question I asked. She even walked me over to other areas to help me there as well. I usually don't write reviews but I haven't been able to stop thinking about how sweet this girl was and how I didn't want her work to go unnoticed. This Macy's is kinda different and unique from most of the other Macy's on the island of Oahu in the fact that the whole store is just one level without any additional stores. This one is located at the Ka Makana Ali'i shopping center in Kapolei. Whenever I need something new, mostly within the clothing realm, sometimes I go to Macy's for the latest styles of shirts, polos, dress shoes, dress pants, etc. They usually have some good deals and sales from time to time. Macy's always have one of the best Black Friday deals amongst all retailers and stores nationwide. If you are at the mall, you cannot really miss it as the store has a big sign in front of all of the entrances to the store. The store is at the farthest most and closest side to the main road, Kapolei Parkway. The prices for everything are usually pretty decent. The staff and customer service is also pretty good. If you have Macy's membership or even more so the Macy's credit card, you can get even greater deals and purchasing/buying power at Macy's but that it in itself is pretty dangerous. read more
