This Macy's is great. The store is a little smaller compared to the ala moana and pearlridge Macy's but the service is better. I did have to wait a while in line which irritated me. I waited patiently for a while and no one asked me if I was helped. I then was greeted by an employee that helped me. If there was a 0 star I would rate it 0. I Went to Macy's at Kamakana Ali'i and tried to return an item a bought a day ago. This was in the fragrance section and I told the lady I wanted to return a perfume because my dad didn't want it. I bought the fragrance at Pearlridge Macy's and she told me I had to go back to pearlridge to return it because I bought it from pearlridge. The receipt didn't mention anything about returning it to the same store. In all honesty I think that she was judging me and my boyfriend because of the clothes we were wearing. We bought an expensive perfume ranging from $150-$200 and she did not want to let us return it. Never going to Kamakana Alii Macy's again. read more

Manager by the name Maryanti is very rude and unprofessional! I came here tonight 11/27/2018 to make a even exchange for a bedding set ( $199.00 ) that I bought on 11/25/2018 I used it for one night and the threading started to come undone which made a hole in the pillowcase. While she was doing the exchange she stated with a smirk on her face that in the future if the item is used and not in resaleable condition then they can't accept the item. I advised her that it was not our fault that their item that they sold only lasted 2 days. I then asked her why did she have to make that comment? Love Macy's. Love the fact that it's just 7 minutes away from home even more! Smaller store and just one floor, which is appropriate for the location. Wished the layout or floor plan was better, however. If one is primarily there for apparel, one has to walk back and forth between Children's (East side of the store) and Mens/women's dept (West side) crossing and passing the jewelry, shoes, and bags department in the middle of the store every time one needs to get something else or switch something out from either dept. Therefore, one needs to strategically plan shopping there. read more

3 rd time a charm. Had some time to kill before an appointment so figured what the heck , went to see if they actually had some work shirts in my size , medium. Previous 2 visits found nothing including help and ended up ordering on line. Today I experienced Berna , pretty sure she was a stock clerk ? Asked what I was looking for, took me around the different areas showing me what was available in my size. Ending up picking out 2 shirts , and the topping ... took me to the register , and found someone to ring me up. That doesn't even happen at the Ala Moana store. Excellent experience !!!! Stick to Pearlridge or Ala Moana Macy's location, unless you want to be walking around for a sale associate to help you and end up getting terrible customer service. I ordered something online to pick up in store a Micheal Kors handbag that was 50% off for the pre-black Friday sale. I walk in to the At Your Service counter nobody there literally says "at your service". Walking around the men's department looking for someone to help me. Finally found someone to help me told her I had a pick up. She grabs my items continued to ring me out hands me a receipt for my pick up. The receipt had no break down on the prices, just that I picked up I asked her for the receipt on the break down she said she doesn't have it and that my total was $156.02. Another lady comes by and she's asks her what's going on. I told I want to know the breakdown of my purchase and if my star money was applied. She tries to explain to me that it's $156.02. Okay? But was my coupon applied? I told her just return it and I'll repurchase it. Sales associate returns item and I repurchase it finding out my coupon wasn't applied and my new total was $132. 92. That's a $24.00 difference. If I didn't ask her the to return it and repurchase it I would have spent $24.00 more? read more

Racial profiling by loss prevention. Meanwhile, people who don't fit the stereotype of a thief's appearance are not bothered. The only dark skin person with tattoos gets hovered over and end sips pending 500 on clothes. If I didn't really like the clothes I would have not bothered. However Bernie showed exemplary customer service and the manager Jen apologized and assured me that this is not the vision for Macy's. They where very professional. My family and I absolutely love the Macys store in Kamakana Alii. There is this one girl that works at MAC named Jordan. Such Amazing costumer service and always Friendly. She did my little cousins make up and she loved it! She loves to make conversations and to encourage my little cousin. Not coming back. 1st visit was during the soft opening, womens clothing selection was limited and everything I liked only small sizes were left. 2nd visit only fall colors, again limited. 3rd and last visit, found a bunch of women's items on the sales rack about 20 give or take. Could only take 6 at a time, which is common. The inconvenience was that I had to completely dress and walk back into the women's dept to the register where there was a line to ask for my next items..... where's the customer service? Don't bother coming here if your looking for customer service, was in the skin care department and employees had little to no knowledge when it came to their product, also were rude and disrespectful to customers,I was expecting more. There's an Finishline athletic shoe section in Macy's I am just disappointed of there service there. Got shoes there before but now it's very disorganized!! Don't shop there!! The finishline employee there told me that there backroom is a mess and they could not find my shoes in the back. Why do u have shoes out on the shelf if u can't find the shoe in the back!!?? Very unacceptable to customers who want to buy your pricey shoes!!! I was there on Saturday on 3/31. This location deserves no stars. Dislike this Macy's location. Bought just one item in the juniors department. There's too many associates in this junior department and there are two cashiers and the rest of them are just standing around gossiping. When it was my turn I have used a gift card and the cashier asked 6 times if I want to apply for Macy's credit card when I said it loud and clear I do not want to apply or sign up. I went in a few days ago to return a purchase I made on macys.com of an espresso maker that didn't work correctly I took it back with a all original documentation and was told I would not be able to return. I reference their return policy online which states that you were able to take it to any Macy's location and even if you did not have your receipt they would be able to find it if it was within two years time. I dealt with two different employees one being a sales associate another being a manager neither one of them wanted to help me and told me sorry about my luck. I was not willing to accept that I have every right to return or exchange I was not asking for money back I just wanted to exchange for something that worked. After an hour of arguing with both of the Associate's the manager very unprofessionally stated I don't care anymore just give it to her and stormed off. So I go and grab the coffee maker that I had intended to bring home and came back to the register to process the exchange. After another 5 minutes or so the sales associate states that I will be receiving a check in the mail for my refund and that I needed to pay out of pocket for the new coffee maker. That is not an exchange that is a return and a new purchase all I wanted to do was Exchange. I work in customer service and have for many years this is unacceptable this is not good customer service in this is not the standard I've grown to know shopping at Macy's all of these years. I don't want to sound like every person that says I'm never going to shop here again but honestly and truly I probably will not buy anything from Macy's despite the location including online. Their employees need to be better trained and if they are not suited for customer service maybe they should find another profession. After all of that they overcharged me for the coffee maker that I ended up bringing home but because of the poor experience I received I will not be returning $30 is not worth my time and Sanity. A Macy's in my neighborhood of Kapolei and I already knew from seeing it's one-story building from Kapolei Parkway that it would be underwhelming compared to the three-story Macy's stores at Pearlridge and Ala Moana. Tonight on our first visit my husband and I made our way around the store within 30 minutes. There were some deals that were somewhat enticing like men's workout tank tops were $5.99 and women's bras were buy 2 get 2 free, but those same clothing brands can be bought for cheaper at Target. We found one item to purchase. Our checkout was simple, but the couple before us were complaining that they couldn't use their coupons on "special" items like they could on "sale" items and actually blamed the sales associates at the register about the signage being misleading. The sales girls apologized and said they weren't responsible for making the signs. I felt bad for them because it honestly isn't their fault. So after this first visit I'm still glad that there's a Macy's close by which saves me from wasting time in traffic and money on gas to travel to the other stores, but I don't think I will be shopping there frequently as their inventory for clothes and shoes that I normally shop for is considerably limited. I am also sad that they do not have a Gazebo restaurant like the other stores, but then again there will be lots of eateries at the mall already. As for my husband, he enjoyed "blessing" Macy's restroom... twice. read more

Today, a friend tried to return/exchange a clothing gift she received for her birthday in April. It was bought at the pearlridge store. She was told she would have to go back to pearlridge to exchange or get a credit from there. Does that mean, if someone bought me a gift from a Macy's on the mainland, I couldn't get a credit at this Macy's? Trying out the new Clinique full coverage foundation. Always loved the Clinique products especially for my type of skin, it always applied on my skin very well. The associate who helped me was great. I really wish I remembered the kids name to give him a proper acknowledgment, but he went above and beyond to ensure we left there happy. My son needed some last minute dress shoes (for something the next day), this was our first time at this location and this sales rep who worked in another department noticed we were lost. He directed us to the shoe department, my son and I looked but didn't see what we needed so we were on our way back out when we ran into the kid again. He asked us if we found the shoe department okay, I explained they didn't have what we were looking for. He asked what we were looking for and after giving him our answer he walked us to another department where he went into the back and came out with the shoe we needed! Unfortunately they didn't have them in my son's size but he then began to call other locations until he found the shoe in my sons size. He secured the shoe and we picked them up! He was very respectful, helpful, and courteous the whole time. Not pushy like some sales reps can be, you can tell he was there to help us. Thank you kid, whoever you are! read more

I am shocked at how rude the staff at Macy's were to me! While shopping at Macy's I found shotglasses I liked and proceeded to the checkout counter. However I could not find anyone to ring me up. Everytime I went to a checkout counter I was directed to a another checkout counter. No one would ring me up! Finally after multiple tries I found someone to ring me up! While checking out, a staff member went up to the checkout girl and asked what I bought. The checkout girl explained I "only" bought shotglasses. The staff member exclaimed "WELL I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY COMMISSION OFF THAT!" and stormed off mad. Wow I could not believe she actually had the nerve to say that. I realized no one would ring me up because they would not make any commission off of my sale. Save yourself the horrible experience and embarassment, just go to the Macy's in Pearlridge...plus it's at least twice the size! I live in Makakilo and I will still avoid this Macy's due to their rude and uninviting staff! read more

One of the worst experiences ever at Macy's. I went to make a return (granted for a brand new item that I have had in storage for quite some time). Macy's new policy is that it will now not take any returns over a year old... ok no problem. But with this being a new policy as well as the items still being brand new, I asked for an exception for this time... come on it's MACYS, customer service??? The rudest manager ever JON decided the best way to handle a customer was to get sarcastic and ask 'would I feel feel good about him taking my return' like my conscience... really! And then tells me he doesn't have the TIME to look at my transaction history. Really you have a job because you have customers, your time is to service customers. What a totally horrible and very rude experience. I will not return. They have lost the respect and appreciation for those who would spend hard earned money and decide to shop there... i will take my money elsewhere. read more

Went to the shoe department and customer service was amazing and there were only 2 of them. Props to them. Decided to go walk around and continue shopping before purchashing. At the end went to the childs department to cash out. Took us 45 minutes in line. This older lady worker was very apologetic and called her manager to help her with a transaction becsuse she was lost. If that manager didnt just turn around to speak to the other cash register associate and that register is facing towards the line of customers and speak loudly about how the older lady doesnt know what shes doing and how did she get a job here. How rude and very unprofessional. The lady at the register facing the now long line of customers is taking her supet sweeet slow time. 45 minutes to get to her, only for her to take 30 more minutes to ring us up. She asked us if we were allowed to ring up shoes im her department, we looked at her and said we dont know, we dont work here. Then we asked her if we could use our discounts that we get from our macys card. She said the one we selected wasnt working. We asked her which ones would work, she said none of them. By then we are asking her why and she just keeps saying none of them. So we tell her forget it. Over $200 worth of stuff we were going to buy and we just left it at the register and said forget it. I dont think they should have opened this early. They should have taken the reminder of the time and continued training, especially customer service to the manager and the lady that rang us up and opened when the whole mall opened.
