It was in my opinion one of the best stores in Dallas Then the gradual decline kicked in and 10 years ago I gave up. I used to buy mens,women's, children's clothes,kitchen appliances, bedding,you name it,I was a fan. So,today I found myself parking in their garage to walk through to the mall. I've always loved Macy's. Years ago when everyone was at the malls, service was poor, you had to hunt down someone to assist. But on this visit, I was here with my daughter and needed some nice clothes for a board meeting, since I had gotten too big for anything nice I had in my closet. It has been a while since I had to present at a meeting, glad my daughter was there, she found me a gorgeous Calvin Klein jacket with rolled sleeves in taupe - will go with just about anything. The surprise was that although there was only one staff member in the area, she greeted me with a smile and offered to take my jacket to a fitting room for me! Then she proceeded to help me find some slacks and a blouse. She ran back to her cash register when needed but was so helpful - not only to me, but other customers. This was not a fully stocked urban Macy's like I am used to in Union Square San Francisco (thought that one is sadly closing). I am on the hunt for a dress to wear to my stepson's wedding. The selection here was very mid, and the couple styles I liked were lacking in size selection for me. I have since discovered the Macys at Northpoint which is a completely different experience with loads of selection. (Though I was there the day there was a bomb threat and thad to evacuate...) I went to the store to return specific gifted items that did not fit or align with my preferences, possessing a gift receipt and having been informed by the gift giver to exchange the perfume if it was unsuitable. Manager Ayesha stated that she could only process the return based on the sale price rather than the original purchase price because the gift receipt only reflected the jacket and not the perfume gifted. I referenced the original price listed on the website for the perfume (also printed on the box), but she refused to honor the return at the listed price. Additionally, Ayesha mentioned that she had to proceed with the lowest amount and informed me that gift cards were the only option, excluding cash back. Given my ten-year tenure as a customer, I believe it's standard practice to offer a choice between gift cards and cash refunds. Since this item is a gift, I should have the option to choose between a gift card and cash back. Ayesha's request for me to contact the gift giver to obtain the transaction number seems unreasonable, especially considering it would require involving the gift giver in the return process. Attempting to resolve the issue amicably by politely reminding her of my valued customer status and the contribution my purchases make to her compensation, she responded dismissively, stating that my payment does not cover her expenses, and further escalated the situation by involving law enforcement. Notably, this incident marks the first time I have encountered an issue when attempting to return a gift item in exchange for a cash refund, given the specifics of the gift receipt and the purchase location at North Park Mall rather than the Galleria Mall, which necessitates an additional card being mailed within two weeks. I recorded the entire exchange, during which Ayesha treated me poorly. I requested that Macys resolve this situation promptly, specifically that the gift card accurately reflects the amount on the perfume box in light of Macy's recent policy change limiting returns to gift cards; I urge reconsideration of the policy to include cash refunds as an option for customers who do not wish to make a purchase. It's wrong to put the men's restroom on the 1st floor, and women's on the 3rd. This contributes to a horrible customer experience, especially for families. Improving this will resolve stress that wasn't needed. The entire store also has a strong odor/artifical smell that will irritate sensitive noses. read more

So I am a lover and fan of Macys. There is no city I can go to with a Macys that I don't visit. Sooo we're on vacation and go to the Galleria Mall. Of course we're going to Macys. I have to say though I've never been so underwhelmed. The store is clean, well organized, customer service was ok I guess. But the selection of product was not great. The shoe department was small and lacked variety. The various women depts were.....not impressive. My husband however did like the mens dept and purchased several items. This massive Macy's is at the Galleria of Dallas, and features everything you would want from a Macy's at the very high prices that you expect. I'm not sure how this department store stays in business considering they are quite expensive and are a little bit too conservative and don't really move with the times like Penney's tries to, but they do have one of the biggest stores at one of the biggest malls in Texas so they must be doing something right. This review is of Backstage. I didn't even know anything about Backstage. A friend asked me if I'd been to Backstage and I asked her what was Backstage. Backstage is a store that is apart of Macy's and inside of Macy's. It reminds me of TJMaxx or Ross. This store within Macy's has discounted items. They also have clearance sections. I really like Backstage. I'm someone that likes Macy's products but sometimes I feel their prices are high. I was very excited to know Macy's had a section like TJMaxx. It is organized similar to TJMaxx. It's on the second floor near the garage. Backstage is only at selected Macy's. Backstage has a great selection. They have a nice beauty section, many purses, many shoes, luggage, clothes, and home items. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the clothes selection. I recent purchased two items, a coffee table and side table. Prior to it being shipped, I called attempting to cancel the order, but was told I called beyond the 30 minute window to cancel the order. As such, all I needed to do was not accept the order when it is delivered. However, I was never provided with an opportunity to accept or not accept the items. Instead, it was left at my front door step. This is inconsistent with what Macy's instructed. I had to call Macy's back attempting to return the item. I was told the items would be picked up by UPS and I would be contacted prior to arrival. I was never contacted prior to the pick up. Once again, this is inconsistent with what Macy's instructed. Once the items left my home, I closed the door assuming the items were taken away. Instead, one of the items (the coffee table) was left at my front door while the side table was taken. It seems like the smaller and lighter item was taken and the heavier one was left and I wasn't told the item was left until I opened the door again. This is the third time the process was inconsistent with what was instructed by Macy's. I had to call Macy's and was put on hold on and off for 32 minutes in an effort to return the remaining item. I asked for a supervisor was was told no supervisors were available. The representative, while attempting to be helpful, consistently spoke over me and would never (and I emphasize never) let me finish a single sentence. The process was horrific and a true demonstration of what not to do for customer service. Once again, I have been told that the item will be picked up and that I would be called prior to the pick up occurs. Let's see if this happens. I have my doubts and fully anticipate that what the representative told me will be a fourth occurrence of inconsistent instructions provided by Macy's. Macy's needs to do much better training staff on how to speak to customers. As it stands, I would never order from Macy's again and will recommend people I know to not buy from Macy's either. read more

We went in to buy a suit for our teenage son for a school event in a couple of week. He is at an age when his size is between youth and men's. The sales associate worked hard to find a jacket and pants that fit him, which we really appreciated. But they didn't have the right color, so he offered to order the suit and have it shipped to our house. He promised even with regular shipping it would get here in a week, so we would have time for alterations before the school event. We paid for it in the store and went home. When we got home, we received an order confirmation email from Macy's which says the suit would take two weeks to arrive. That would leave us no time for the necessary alterations before the occasion and the whole purchase would be pointless! And this was not an inexpensive purchase by any means. So we immediately called Macy's customer service to expedite the shipping. They were less than helpful. They said it was too late to change the shipping method on our order or to even cancel it. On top of that, the customer service team is obviously offshore and the calls dropped several times. And they made no attempt to call us back whenever it dropped. We had to call them back three times and explained the situation over and over to different representatives. Finally one of them agreed to place a new order for us for the same suit and ship it express. Let's hope it arrives in time! And we will still have to deal with the hassle of returning the original order. I know Macy's is a brick and mortar store, so they don't operate with the same level of efficiency as Amazon. But in this day and age, it is ridiculous to take two weeks to ship a piece of garment yet refusing to change the shipping method within 3 hours of the order. If Macy's wants to survive in the market, they'd better shape up their supply chain and customer service. The service we have just experienced is simply unacceptable! Super excited! I went to find sneakers since I was long over due for work out shoes. And shoes to use on the day to day. I thought the shoes would've been pricy since Macy's is a top designer brand store but they had a lot of items on sale. I was pleased they carried all the shoes I wanted to try on in my size. Because I went to a few others in the mall and they carry only one to two sizes per style. Each one I tried was very comfortable on good arch support and really great price. Christmas shopping is already a nightmare, right? Well, how about Christmas shopping with an extra side of employees who don't give a f$%*? I walked into Macy's to pick up an order that I placed online, it was for a perfume I ordered so I went to the perfume counter to ask where I could pick up my order. Behind the counter there were a guy and a girl that were whispering and giggling...I know gossip when I see it. I asked them where I could pick up an online order and he told me in customer service on the 3rd floor. As soon as I walked away 5 steps, the guy tells the girl: "OMG, Did you see her hat? RIDICULOUS!". Sure, my hat was silly, but, Can you maybe go back to whispering just for kicks? A-HOLE! I go to the 3rd floor and as soon as I get out of the escalator, I see a MEGA counter with a HUGE sign that says "CUSTOMER SERVICE". I walked up to the employee behind the counter and tell her I want to pick up my online order and with an annoyed tone of voice she says: "You need to go to customer service"...I said: "Well, your sign says customer service" and she responds while rolling eyes that customer service is in the children's check out...Silly me, I should have known that! I walk up to the children's checkout and the employee was busy talking about her colonoscopy with the person in front of me who had already checked out and was just chillin' there. I wait about 3 minutes before I interrupt and I ask if I can please get my order. The employee asked for my ID but continues to talk to the lady. A few minutes later she walks away to "find my order" but the person who she was talking to starts walking with her while they are both engaged in the conversation. It got to a point where they both stopped walking and they were just talking in the middle of the hallway. I let that happen out of curiosity on when she would actually start doing her job. It was about 5 more minutes until I walked on her direction, very angry and ready to stop the conversation to ask for a manager. She sees me coming and immediately goes to get my order. Time to check out now, she gives me my order, an $80 tiny bottle of perfume. I asked if I could get one of the Macy's bags with handles and she said they don't have any and she recommends papyrus. Seriously? I am staring at a stack of bags right behind you! Whatever, at this point I either walk away or become violent, so I chose to walk away. read more

This is the first macys where I dont get overwhelmed shopping in. So far I've gotten a kitchen aid mixer, makeup and work clothes and most of the time I've bought them online and pick up in store which has been awesome. When I bought my kitchen aid mixer, the cashiers brought it to my car for me which was amazing service! I got so many wonderful work clothes, and my Lancome makeup which has always been good. The overall appearance is what you'd expect from a shopping mall store. Though the reason I rate Macy's a 1 Star is due to the horrendous smell of urine in the Men's Changing room. I understand not having an employee to check in each person at the entrance but the carpet, bench, separation dividers, and internal walls need to be replaced. As I entered the dressing room I could smell an odor and it wasnt until I was in the booth that I smelt the smell to be urine soaked in the carpet wall and floorboards of the wall and stall. I ended up changing in the Womens Dressing room which were a bit better but I recommed to remove the carpet and just use a concrete flooring or spend the money on tile and an employee to all persons to enter. This needs to be addressed as I was in the Mens area and other men were in disgust due to the smell and changing talking aloud of the smell. read more

This is mostly about the very kind ladies that helped me. Their names are Kendra and Melody and they work in the jewelry department. I bought a braided necklace less than five months ago from Macy's to hold my very precious pendant that includes all three of my sons names, one of which passed away a year and a half ago. I searched for the right necklace and finally decided to purchase one from Macy's. I was thinking that the quality would be great and I just wanted to make sure I didn't lose my Pendant. Part of the braiding came undone and the little pieces were scratching me and I brought it back to Macy's to see if they could fix it. I was told that they only would do anything about it within a 30 day period, unless I had bought an extended warranty. I did not remember being offered that, but in any case I didn't have it. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't do something about it since it was less than five months since I had purchased it. I felt like it should not have broken. Ultimately these ladies were very kind and caring and replaced my necklace. Although I don't agree with Macy's policy, I'm really happy that they have such great employees that look beyond the product to the person and the situation. Four is stretching it, but I had a limited experience. My failed shoes from ShoeMart just would not cut it for my interview, so I made the trip to Galleria in search of the "basis, black career shoe." Nine West had already failed, and I was nervous I'd have to pluck down the $350 it takes just to get the salesman's attention in Nordstroms. Macy's was on the way to the big N, so I sauntered in and spied a cute pair of black slingbacks....that happened to be the ONLY pair of slingbacks in the store (or in the mall, apparently). It's located in the Dallas Galleria so one would expect it to be a posh more upmarket shopping experience. They don't sell any of the top trendy brands and what little there is is picked over junk. I always thought Macy's was better than this. Sometimes I feel as though their shoes are half to a full season behind and way too overpriced. And i always find myself wondering..."didn't i just see those shoes elsewhere for $20 less?" It's not always the case, but i just feel like I never find anything i truly like. the decor of the store doesn't help either, as it is rather drab and dark. Nor does the constant beeping of the security tags placed on literally every clothing item. I don't have a problem with the security tags on the clothes, but do they seriously need to beep every two seconds? I recently visited the Galleria to search for an interview suit set, and Macy's had the most organized selection in the mall. Because this was my first experience buying professional women's wear, I would have loved to receive some personal attention from an associate, but I shopped for at least 40 minute unnoticed. I was shopping today for business appropriate clothes. The store is over-crowded with displays, there is little to no signage to help you find the department you are looking for. At one point I was on the right floor, but couldn't figure out where to go, so I tracked down a staff member and she just pointed and said "over there." In the department, one staff member was almost off her shift, and made some comments out loud within earshot of customers about her long day and how she had to get out of there. I don't fault her for wanting to leave work the second her shift was over, but no complaining in front of customers! The department was under-staffed, and I had little to no help the entire time I was there. REGISTRY:I live right around this corner from this location and shop here frequently. My fiance and I are doing our registry here. We thought we were only able to get crystalwear at places like William Sonoma. This location has the widest selction of any Macy's I've seen. It fits anyone's budget. The associates who are in charge of the registry were very helpful and even offered us a coffee. When the associates show great customer service, I know management is doing well in training them. MENS: @Korey P. You probably just had a bad experience. Associates always approach and asks if I need assistance. The number of associates scheduled depends on the time day, day in the week, season, etc. If there is only 3 assocites for men's they probably won't know about everything. If you were in suits asking about jackets, shoes asking about slack, or pj asking about jeans, chances are, none of them are going to be able to help you. SUITS: The times to shop are usually around October and New Years. Associates usually know when the sales are. read more
