Macys has been kind of weird for years, felt like it had some great brands, kind of good for work clothes or a nice dress, great place to get shoes on sale, but it alway felt like they were on the verge of closing. They alway mailed my coupons because I have a Macys credit card & I seemed even when I bought something marked down there would be additional savings with the coupons, I would literally leave there not believing the deals I got. I don't need to shop there much any more but went to do sone Christmas shopping, everything I bought was on sale, but I was still armed with coupons. After literally wandering around for 2 + hours with not one person asking if I needed any help & searching for a place to pay after I finally found what I needed, I get to the check out, the woman had a mask on (!) so I couldn't hear anything she was saying to me, before she totaled me out I said "wait, I have coupons!" She said they won't work because everything I bought was a "special - not coupon eligible" ...I was tired, so I pushed the issue - asking when did "specials" start happening & why do they still send us coupons? It's very misleading. She got defensive & acted like I was crazy. I'm not. I've shopped at Macys for years & honestly the deals were the draw. This "everything is a special - not coupon eligible " but they still send the coupons to get us to come in the store is misleading & shows bad intentions. I did some research & it looks like Macys got new investors a couple years ago, maybe their motivation is to make the stores look profitable & sell. I don't think your plan is gonna work. The merch is not top drawer, the service is not good & your marketing material is not truthful. You lie. You are using the legacy coupon, but you've changed your in store lingo to "special - not coupon eligible." Great deal with a cosmetic pouch with a lot of big samples or regular size products (a travel size stick foundation, a regular size nude lipstick, a travel size moisture surge gel, a travel size black mascara, a travel size facial cleaning product, etc.) offered for at least a $28 purchase! Had a really good experience here during the past weekend. The bf and I normally would go here to browse the watch collections, but we never actually truly delved into the luxury watch sections until this past weekend. We weren't ignored and we were actually very promptly helped when we were browsing. We were looking at the Tag Heuer and Longines line, but, in general, we were looking for an automatic women's watch. Wasn't looking for quartz, and didn't want to go for a Rolex. The employee (I think his name was Sid?) was very helpful in this respect, where he didn't try to fly us over to the Rolex section to check those out. He did suggest them simply because there aren't very many automatic watches, especially for the ladies. Eh, I'm a unique person, what can I say? Anyways, after browsing for a good hour, with the employee being very patient, we decides on one of the Longines watches for me! =D It'll be a wedding present, so I won't get to wear it yet, but it's in the works. We were also able to pay with our Macy's card at a 12-month interest-free. Anyways, we were super-appreciative that Sid was willing to help us and allow us to browse around. He provided very valid suggestions, and allowed me to try on some pretty expensive watches without any problems. While there were other customers that were browsing around, he kept his attention on us, and helped us exclusively, including the removal of a few links in the watch bracelet to fit me better. Update- after I complained that the pillow that was to accompany the sofa did not arrive, (I was told that it would be 4 to 6 weeks mire) however it came sooner than expected (about 7-10 business days) for which I am grateful however it was quite a hassle to buy one piece of furniture ....perhaps it may be due to the fact that Macy's is closing several of its locations. I have had this sofa for about a month now and it appears to be good quality so I updated my review from one star because of really poor customer service to three stars. read more

This review is for the Women's Shoes department only. Came here on a Friday night looking for a pair of shoes to go with my dress. I noticed all the sales associates were carrying an inventory scanner, which is a wonderful idea. Instead of having the sales associate run to the back and search for your shoe size, scanning the shoe will automatically let them know if they have it in stock. This definitely cuts down the wait time, which is a super plus. Unfortunately, my shoe size was not available, but they did inform me that the Main Place Macy's carried the last pair. Although I did not purchase the shoes I intended to buy, I ended up purchasing a pair of Coach flats for 50% off (What a deal!). The sales rep, Daniel, was kind of enough to grab me a brand new pair instead of giving me the display model. I definitely received outstanding service at this location! read more

My mom is a big fan of Macy's and so when we visit the South Coast Plaza, we always make sure to visit this store. One of the reasons why my mom really likes this location (other than it is rather a larger location than the one she frequents back at home) is that this particular location has a larger petite department. My mom is your typical short Chinese woman and so finding the perfect fit is really important to her (instead of just getting things shortened at a tailor). On one of our most recent visits, my mom was so happy to find petite sized cashmere sweaters (the petite section is on the bottom floor and there is also a women's restroom in this section as well). She was so excited and kept telling me how the Macy's back at home never has these type of sweaters in petite. She told me she always has to get the sleeves shortened and rather not because it just seems to be a pain to do). Over the next few visits from the week before Thanksgiving to last weekend, my mom was really happy to find more petite sized clothing items. But I do have to mention that when we came here last Saturday, there was a large after New Years clearance, it was one big mess. There was a TON of clothing all over the floor and just all over the place (thank goodness I do not work retail). But of course it is not the store's fault that it was just crazy and a bit chaotic (the customers just all went nuts). When we walked over here, it just made me not want to shop at Macy's. But of course my mom engaged in the craziness and found several blazer jackets to try on and eventually want to purchase. But my mom was disappointed that she couldn't find any petite sized cashmere sweaters in her size. So I guess we will just have to come back in November so that she can buy some more. Which I don't mind since I really love shopping at the South Coast Plaza anyway. By the way, I just wanted to mention that you will not find any clothing or shoes for men in this store. We had a great experience here! I had been talking about getting healthier for some time and mentioned to my guy some months back that I would like to buy a Juicer. We never got around to it, and it was a mostly forgotten topic, until my guy recently surprised me with a shopping trip to buy one! The Macy's associate, Patrick, was fantastic. It turned out that the model we wanted was out of stock at the store, but he was able to search for it within the Macy's online inventory and ordered it for us, getting it shipped right to our door. Before that, however, he was very patient in explaining all the models and the pro's and con's of each one. It was very helpful considering how many different models they had. We were very pleased with our experience there. Service really makes a big difference when most department stores sell the same things. I'll be back to this Macy's at Crystal Court for sure! Also good to note, the parking for this store is in an underground structure that is well lit. There is a very convenient escalator that leads right up to the middle of the store. read more

Hated the experience. I asked for help buying Paige jeans and they told me they had no one to help me because it was an hour till closing time. Then I asked directions to the restroom and they sent me nowhere. Finally, I asked someone else and they told me it was on the 3rd floor. Wow. Fran from Clinique, was kind, patient, informative honest, helpful and well educated on the Clinique products. She had just what I needed and after speaking to her briefly I bought the Natural Activating Vitamin C Serum for $10-14.99, I cannot recall - this serum must be used within 10 days of activating the vitamin C because of the natural products in it have an expiration date. She provided me with samples of their Hyaluronic acid jelly which comes in a relatively large jar for $28- much like Hado Labo's Hyaluronic Acid Gel. I will definitely return for Clinique's Skin Nourishing Mask-before I derma-roll the next time! Both Fran from Clinique and Jessica from Bobbi Brown were the best experiences I've ever had with my experience at the Macy's Skincare Department! So angry!!! Very bad stuff on shoes department! The seller did not count the discount that was on the price tag. When I returned with a request to recalculate the amount, she did not even change, but only with a dissatisfied person transferred this case to her partner. When the goods were punched again, the sellers were just as polite and did not say goodbye, did not hand me my purchase in their hands, but just turned around from the cash register and left! This is the most terrible staff I've ever met!!! It happened on February 1 at 7:08! On Friday December 27, 2019 at approximately 9pm my husband and I went to this Macy's to get a movado watch resized that I purchase as a Christmas gift for my husband for close to a $1000.00. When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant individual by the name of Johnny, who identified himself as the Macy's vendor. He was very nice and asked that we wait while he found someone that could help us. Johnny asked around but it appeared no one was interested. It's as if as soon as they heard we needed a watch resized we were ignored. One individual mentioned to a worker by the name of Annette Robinson that the Movado section was her section and she would help. We waited for approximately 20 minutes with no acknowledgment from Annette who was assuring another customer. Johnny periodically checked on us to ensure we were okay which was very professional and nice of him. After the 20 minutes had gone by another couple came in and Annette quickly acknowledged them and said well I'm busy. I then said but we were here first before the other couple and she then put her hand in my face and said she was busy. I then asked for her name and she walked off. She then came back a few minutes later and I said what she did was rude and she said oh well. I then said I can't believe you treat customers like this and explain I would be filing a complaint. She then replied I don't care. Johnny and the other staff heard this. Johnny apologized for Annette behavior and said what she did was unprofessional. Annette then came back moments later and threw her business card and did not provide an apology. Eventually an employee named Leticia came to help who had a broken hand. She explained to Annette she had a broken hand and will do the best she can to help us. Leticia went above and beyond and was extremely helpful and was able to resize the watch without any issues. In conclusion, I am completely disgusted by Annette behavior. I am also sadden that it felt some of the other staff members were more concerned with closing then helping my husband and I. One individual was busy packing rolexes away, saw us standing there, and kept packing away! It was as if she was more concern to close then customers. This whole event was extremely disappointing and hurtful. read more

I like to save money rather than spend it, so I'm pinching pennies all the time, including my clothing. But, I've been here to the Macy's Men's store shopping, and its nice to have more selection than regular department stores. Bought a very nice jacket for my brother last Christmas, so that was a plus. But, when I came in here this week to get a jacket myself, they had very little selection. In other words, the one time I'm actually looking to spend a few bucks on quality clothing they don't have anything. Now I'm going to freeze on my business trip to Dallas because I don't have a warm jacket. And its all Macy's Men's fault. When the stars align, magic happens. Hmm that should be Macy's new tag line since their logo is a star...anyway... I was never that big of a fan of Macy's until their Friends and Family sale last weekend. It had 25% off and if you opened a credit card, you'd get an additional 20% off (instead of the usual 15% off.) Usually they say no discount on certain name brands like Coach and others, but there was barely any restrictions. 2-years ago my roommates and I cashed in on this super deal and last year it wasn't as awesome. Anyway, I saved 45% off my statement which was so wonderful. I can't believe the 20% was after taxes! Shoutout to Shannon who works in the Coach department at this Macy's and Nel in Michael Kors (accessories) and Biko in the shoe department. They were such great help during the chaotic weekend and helped me find all the things on my Christmas shopping list. I will finally start shopping at Macy's ;-) read more

I like this Macys cause has plenty of parking and store space. We go to both women's and men's stores, and I don't mind the walk. Every department I go to, there is always someone to help. I come here Fridays during the day (I don't like to come here during the weekends, it gets crowded)- so I recommend either come on a weekday during the day or be here at 10 am during the weekend and be the first to get in and out: that will make the best experience for you. read more

Little disappointed in my visit to Macy's in the past few days when visiting the beauty department. I work at South Coast Plaza so on my lunch break I like to take walks. Yesterday I visited the beauty department because I want to try out a new foundation. While searching for a new product and looking clueless the entire staff was more into the conversation they were having with themselves rather than helping me. Today pretty much the same. They were too excited about all the sale items and their inventory rather than helping me. It wasn't until I then interrupted their fun to ask for help. After I interrupted them the very nice young lady helped me find a shade of foundation I like. But I wish they would have offered their help first rather than me asking for it. read more

I have been shopping at this department store since the 1970's when it was Bullock's. Over the years and several name changes, customer service has gone from outstanding to non existent. The store is unorganized, messy, dirty and unpleasant to shop in today. In some areas cash registers have taken on the function of a cheap department store format. Dressing rooms are not cleared and need to be cleaned. Pricing is so confusing you need to have price scanners to determine the price. It is no wonder why consumers are buying online. Today I went to the lingerie department. I picked out a few items and went to the line. Another woman got there just ahead of me. She needed to purchase another item via mail and despite it taking longer it wasn't that bad. In fact I was impressed at its simplicity. The issue I had was another woman came and stood in front of me. While we waited for the other purchase to be completed she stepped out of the line again and I moved up. I gave the salesperson my WTF look. As I stepped up to the register, the lady returned and the salesperson grabbed other items from the side for that lady to purchase. I stood there pondering my next step. That lady obviously was shopping, trying on, then still shopping but somehow retained a front of the line pass. At no time was I addressed with an excuse me or apology by either women. So I placed placed my items down, went home and made my purchase on Amazon. I then called Macy's and cancelled my credit card for the 2nd and last time this century. Also note that as I was leaving the department I passed two salespersons talking and another rearranging lingerie as she had been doing when I arrived. At no time did anyone offer to assist me. Note to retailers: 1 You are in the business of selling items. If someone puts down items because lack of customer service a sale is not made. Personal conversations, cellphone use and stocking rather than making a sale should come last. 2. Common courtesy goes a long way. Greeting customers, offering to assist, other pleasantries are gold. 3. Monitor your lines. No one comes in to a store to make a purchase should made to feel less valued or that they need to make an ugly scene to be able to make a purchase. 4. In regards to coupons. Coupons are now so convoluted to use. Not for one minute do I believe this is unintentional. It's meant to get you in the store, find an item, discover it is ineligible for the discount and buy it anyway. Additionally you get an attitude from store personnel when it is attempted to be used. My suggestion is pick a price and eliminate the coupons. If you keep them train your staff to accept it with a smile. 4. This incident also had tones of racial bias. This store has had plenty of reviews noting this as an issue and I hope that training will be provided in this area. Goodbye to my 40+ year relationship with this establishment! read more

I have worked with Andrew Sapien in the Fashion Island store and I must say, I have never met a person more suited to carry the Macy's Legacy in delivering excellent customer service at an unbeatable price. Whenever I walk into the store, Andrew is always there to greet me and ensure I get right to what I need (I usually come in late due to my busy work schedule). Mr. Sapien doesn't let that stop him from ensuring I am taken care of. I don't usually write reviews unless the person or company I am working with blows my expectations away. Very rude. 10 minutes to closing the men's finish line cashier let us know they were closing (after it was announced on the pa) with a smirk. The attitude was don't bother because we are not going to help you and they shut the register down at 5 till close. I asked jokingly is it some kind of holiday? He replied "yea it's new years eve, man." Gee thanks, Mr Personality. Also, the only exit open was to the parking lot putting us out into the cold (very windy day) with our kids. I have been a long time furniture customer of Macy's at South Coast Plaza. In addition to purchasing a leather couch there, I purchased one of their Hotel Collection beds and have been very pleased with the quality of their furniture. Recently, I ran into an issue with their warranty that is being handled by a third party company (separate from Macy's). When I was unable to get this resolved to my satisfaction, I contacted Jose Fitzpatrick who is the manager at this location. Jose was very diligent in resolving my complaint and even reached out to me the next day when I was unable to leave a message for him the previous day due to issues they were experiencing with their phone system. (Now that is what I call customer service.) I wanted to mention that Jose resolved the issue to my satisfaction and that I will be shopping at Macy's for all of my future furniture needs. We ordered some furniture for our living room from this location in July 2021. We also paid for a white glove service. We were told that it would arrive in October 2021. Well with the supply chain issues, we finally got it in Dec 2021. The reason for the two stars were the rudeness and unprofessional handling by the delivery guys... they did a shoddy job, just dumped the old furniture outside (partly) and left the rest inside.. no clearing up etc, everything mentioned in their contract. They were so rude to my wife that I just wanted them gone. It seemed like they did us a favor by getting the furniture to us and we were so much a bother to them with asking them to do what they were supposed to do, on a rainy day in Santa Ana.
