Although they have made efforts to modernize the interior, the customer service is still horrible. It is difficult to find someone even though there are signs where to check out. When you do find someone to help, it appears that you are bothering them. Additionally, the selection has diminished as there seems to be a lot of items, but nothing really to purchase. You can still possibly score some good bargains with the coupons that they offer, but I wouldn't say it is an easy in and out shopping experience. It's sad that this Macy's has lost its appeal. read more

I haven't always found a great selection of items I have been looking for at this store. The fragrance section is great though. They stock a large variety of male and female perfumes of all major brands and you can try them out before buying too. The staff is usually friendly and knowledgeable about the fragrances. read more

First time came shopping for a couch and found a good variety of styles, fabrics, and sizes. Sadly, I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I left empty handed. Next time I was there to shop for a dress for a formal event. So many beautiful dresses to choose from! Well organized by colors. Price points for all shoppers. Dressing room leaves a lot to desire. Clearly the oldest, most ignored part of the store. Flimsy walls. My door had trouble closing. But it provides privacy, so it achieves its purpose. Also want to comment that Christmas is slowly invading the store and it isn't even Halloween at this time. read more

Tamiyah at the Barton Square Macy's and her team of fabulous women did a considerable amount of problem solving to get us checked out with two pieces of luggage. This was all complicated by the entire store losing access to their computers. They never lost their patience, kindness and helpfulness. In fact they all went beyond their job description. Went in with my cousin today to look at buying a sofa for my apartment and were treated very disrespectfully by the sales associates. They told us to get rid of our drinks since we couldn't have them in the area and we were understanding and threw them out. Went back to check out a product and we started getting harassed by the sales associates. They said things like "Kids aren't allowed in here", "they have nothing better to do" "these kids don't have girlfriends or they'd be doing more imporant things than messing with adults"(mind you I'm an adult who voted in last years election) Ended up kicking us out because "we were being kids"(I'm just trying to buy a sofa for my apartment) We later saw a couple sitting on a couch with coffees and we asked why they were able to have drinks with them and they said "because they aren't kids(me and my cousin are well over the age of 18 we just have a youthful look). Terrible customer service by the sales associates upstairs. Everyone downstairs was very friendly and understanding of my concerns and were more than happy to help with the issue at hand. read more

I ordered a candle for store pick up and when I left the store and checked the candle, it was completely smashed, so I immediately brought it back inside and returned it. They refunded it back to my card, but I had asked them if they could just re-order it in store and for some reason it wasn't showing up on the computer, but it was still showing up on Macys website. The person helping me was kind enough to give me a $10 credit but would not be able to give me any credit to use online, it could only be used in store. I drove over 30 minutes to come to the store to pick it up, only to find my candle smashed. I walked out with nothing. It's 2024, I don't understand why Macy's doesn't have better service and operations for situations like this. Nordstrom would have fixed this !!!! read more

We went to Macy's in Barton Creek Square Mall for Black Friday. We had a sectional in mind that we had been wanting to purchase and were ready to buy it. We went through the whole process of opening a Macy's card, setting up a delivery date and walked out excited to get our new furniture in just 3 weeks. We confirmed this couch was in stock. Our delivery date was set to Dec. 6. On Dec 5 we cleared our living room, removing the current couch and arm chair that occupied the space where the new sectional sofa would go. Half way through Dec 6, my husband called Macy's to see if they had an ETA for the delivery. They informed him they had no such purchase on record. We had a reservation number, salescheck number and delivery date on what we thought was a sales receipt and they could not locate it. It turns out, the sales person, Debbie, never finalized the sale!! And now the couch is on BACKORDER UNTIL MARCH! We now have no furniture in our living room - no furniture for Christmas, no furniture for New Year's- No furniture for just being at home to hang out and watch TV. The only compensation they provided was $100 off the sale price. NOTHING ELSE! When Debbie called me a few days after she just kept saying, I don't know how this could happen-It happened because SHE did not complete the job! There was NO accountability on her part-NO apology just a call to say she was making sure I got my $100!! This has us BEYOND frustrated! We are so disappointed in the lack of customer service and just the lack of concern for this. We really thought Macy's was better than this. read more

This is specifically related to Macy's furniture warranty. Their warranty as marketed for every day accidents which they highlight pet damage in their advertisements as a covered damage. I made a claim for cat claw marks and after more than a month of waiting, they declined the claim stating that there were too many cat claw marks. Anyone that has cats knows that you wouldn't just have just 1 claw mark. In any case, this product is a scam. They will encourage you to buy it then not actually approve the claim even though you paid for the service. Buyer beware! read more

Took a watch back to Macy's for repairs and I should have taken it somewhere else. A lot of miscommunication between employees about repair time and cost, and was told they did not have a record of my watch two separate times when I had called for updates. Finally got my watch back and they switched out the band for a cheap pleather band. Would NOT recommend Macy's for any sort of watch repair. read more

I have broken up this review with three parts because of business practices I would like to see improved. 1) I purchased online a small light jacket for my wife however it would cost $10 to ship it to my home but could ship it to the nearest Macy's for free. So I did that and received an email saying it was ready for pickup. I went to Macy's and luckily parked at the entrance to the store pickup & return counter. The staff member scanned the barcode from my email and checked my ID. He then went to the back to hand me a UPS package. So why not have UPS just deliver it to my home versus the store? 2) Since I was at Macy's anyway I needed a new down pillow for my wife. I went upstairs to the pillow department. Macy's was pushing their Hotel Collection brand and selected one. The pillow was on sale but could get an extra discount if I pick it up 5 days later. At first though it had to be ordered but the sales guy grabbed it off the shelf and tagged it like checking in luggage at the airport. When I return I don't go to the store pickup but return back to the pillow department. All this does not make sense where the number one rule in sales is to get rid of merchandise in the store where it is taking up space, and space is money. I went ahead and purchased it since Macy's not to far from my home and was a great price for a goose down pillow with the pillow cover. 3) The store exterior and interior is still stuck in the 1980s. It needs a major overhaul and perhaps add a restaurant like Nordstrom where this property has an excellent view of downtown Austin. There is way too much merchandise in the store and most of it not organized. This store needs to thin out departments where I would start first with furniture and knock down some walls to make it feel more open. The jacket which is a Macy's brand Style & Co is well made is very nice and the pillow seen at the store should be comfortable from reading goods reviews. read more

Spent 10 mins in this store and wanted to take a shower. Went to men's suits. The ones employee in area was helping someone. So got a pair a pants to try on to get an idea on size and style. Walked into dressing room and it was disgusting. Pins all over the floor. No place to sit. Door doesn't lock. Corners were full of lint and god knows what else. Now I know staff is short. I do have to say sale people all friendly except cosmetics only one lady named Dora was so nice. Thank goodness the majority were helpful. I do know Macys can have better ratings but only problem was two very young sales people in cosmetics were texting, talking and never asked me if I needed help so I left without buying what I needed in there department. Overall macys carries a good quantity of quality items here one thing stands out was the pearls which are beautiful a sales girl in the jewelry department showed me some mens diamond rings all worth viewing. I do need to return just to see if I can get a make over by the nice lady name Dora in Lancome for make over since I see she had a women she was working on. You have to call for an apt for make over facials ect. I will indeed stop in for that reason Happy shopping for all shopaholics till next review see y'all later read more

At the Barton Creek Square location, I hope the woman working in shoes on Wednesday 11/17/21 (morning and early afternoon) is paid well. She was doing the work of several people and was waiting on quite a few people at one time but still managing to help everyone out. I also bought a purse there in another adjacent area, and I found out the woman in shoes was also ringing up the purses! They had a lot of good deals on these items, and I found what I needed for a very reasonable price. read more

I've worked mattress warehouse sales before so I know the sales game backwards and forwards. With that said, this Macy's purchase was brutal. No-one on sales floor for a $1500 mattress purchase for ten minutes at least. When Starla did get to us she was pleasant but then she had to leave because she has customers waiting for her attention somewhere else in the store. My wife is very cautious when it come to Covid so it was nice to shop "alone" for a bit. Then the time comes to pay. We thought we would try getting there "12 month credit thing" but no dice. Rude thing though was Starla kept calling my wife "Theresa", even while she had my wife's ID in her hand. Rather rude on a bigger purchase but I let it go. Then, she kept asking for info she had in her hand while starting the upsell. First the upsell for "free" delivery. Then being called another persons name for most of the transaction. Talk about rude. Then comes $125 "mattress protector" upsell. She kept wording it like if we don't buy this mattress protector we wouldn't get the manufacture's 10 year warranty! "If you get this mattress protector it will get you your ten year warranty or we'll clean the stain because your warranty is null and void if they find a stain". My wife said so, "If we get this mattress protector, we will be covered with a ten year warranty and she said, yes." So a slight bit of sales trickery by making my wife think that we needed this FOR THE WARRANTY. The more I tried to politely call BS the more she dug in. I know the mattress has a ten year but the way Starla kept wording it, it was like we "had to" have it this mattress protector. I get it. When I worked mattress sales the protector money was ours. So dog eat dog. I understand that, but it ain't cool. Why I got out of sales. My wife "Theresa" (haha) said "I don't wanna be rude but this is overwhelming and she stormed out. Believing the BS hard sell stuff. I bought the "hard sell" frame though, $300 worth. Geez! It'll last I am sure but man, this is a pandemic!! Then the kicker. She swipes my debit card and says. We can get our mattress set delivered in three weeks and she doesn't know if or when THE UPSELL $300 FRAME WILL BE IN!!' What!?! Get back to car and had to explain that it was just a sales thing and Starla was trained to say exactly what she said. It was word for word what I was trained to say. Twist words and promise the world but most of all, GET THAT SWIPE and UPSELL!! Bottom line: Hard to get a sales person but know when you do, they are trained to take you money and expect to wait three weeks for your purchase. This review dates to 11/27/2007, but I have no doubt the same thing would happen today... Tonight I called men's fragrances at this store to determine if Jaïpur Homme by Boucheron Eau de Toilette Spray was in stock in the 3.4 oz size. I spent 5 minutes on the phone just getting connected to the store operator and then two tries to connect to the men's fragrance department. Once there, the call was answered first with laughter; judging by the lack of professionalism of your associate and the background noise it sounded as though I were calling Homey's, not Macy's. After going through all that frustration I find out this item is not carried in that store. I used to hold Macy's in nearly the same esteem as Nordstrom, but now I see it's still just a mediocre Foley's warmed over. That's a real shame; my shopping experiences at Macy's Houston Galleria and Macy's Esplanade in New Orleans were so superlative that I couldn't wait for the Foley's-Macy's rebranding to occur in Austin. Tonight's incident reminds me of what I told an associate in the women's shoe department at this same Foley's store last year when he scoffed at my shopping companion for wanting a pair of navy flats to match her outfit and bragged about how the store was soon becoming a Macy's; I told this wannabe that I have shopped at Macy's and his store is no Macy's. I think Macy's needs to concede this mall to Dillard's and Nordstrom; even the humble Sears in this mall has more class and better customer service than what I've received the last two times I've tried to buy something at this Macy's. At any rate, I will be buying the item I want at Dillard's in the same mall, which has the item in stock and answered my call quickly and courteously. Who from my generation shops at Macy's for clothing? Browsed both floors from top to bottom for a suitable outfit with a friend today with no contenders. Most fashions on the ladies side looked more baby boomer than trendy; the house wares department proving a more worthy destination. We all like gadgets especially when your trying to cook at home. That special knife, sharp mandolin, or maybe a favorite bowl. The wife prefers power, like a juicer or kick ass blender. She works hard at the gym coupled with a new diet and needed a food processor to match her enthusiasm. We had two choices in the Kitchen Aid 14 cup Architect Series and the Cuisinart whatever. I'm hating a bit because the Cuisi was still $100 more on sale. Not that I think it's a better product, time tells that all previous offerings start off big bucks and a few years later amount to peanuts. The wife chose the K-A and I went to pick it off the shelf. Why didn't I come home with it? Reading the price tag carefully as I didn't do, you could have the lower price after Jan 25th. You were able to buy it today at the lower price and wait till the end of the month to pick it up. Stocking your supply chain perhaps; but most folks like the instant satisfaction of taking it home and slicing and dicing. So in a few short days look out Top Chefs the wife is gonna hunt you down. read more

I initially had a good experience shopping for a suit for an awards show with the help of Carolina. When I returned 2 days later to return the (unworn) suit I was treated extremely disrespectfully by this same employee. I specifically asked her NOT to complete the return unless it would be returned back onto my debit card in which she told me IT WOULD. She proceeded to complete the return anyways and return the items back onto my Macys card. I had initially signed up for a Macys card to get the discount and was not given the proper information about returns although I was very specific. Due to this, I lost $400. Carolina then brought me over to customer service to help resolve her mistake. I told customer service what had happened and she became extremely discourteous saying "Well it looks worn anyways" and "the tags aren't even attached". She also denied making any mistakes with was a complete untruth. The clothes were in perfect condition. The general manager Marlene was a witness to this behavior in addition to another customer who will be mentioned in my letter that I am drafting to corporate with the full details to the event. Marlene was amazing throughout all of this and is truly an amazing. I have never been treated so rudely by a Macys employee as I was this day and I will not be stepping in that store again. read more

I made a last minute decision to purchase one more birthday present for someone. Although I don't shop at this department store for myself, I have always had good luck finding a certain type, color, size etc... of Ralph Lauren Polo shirts for men. I'm happy to report that I succeed in purchasing the additional gift. However, the general atmosphere of Macy's and their service - was not so happy. The sales women in the perfume/makeup department congregated in the center of the pathways between counters, loudly gossiping or trying to spray you with perfume. This makes it very difficult to get around. I've noticed this in other department stores, but for some reason it seems more crowed in here. Just a little unprofessional in my opinion. The women who helped me with my purchase was robotic. Fake smile, fake "can I help you", fake pretending to care about the customer. The only realness I came across was her apparent belief that she was above all us lowly customers. Sure I was wearing weekend attire of jeans and a tank top, but honey, this isn't Saks or Bloomingdales, and even so I've had some very friendly and amazing sales people there. Went to Macy's to return a pair of boots that had been bought on the Web. Even though the return slip said that (for in store returns) "Any sales associate can process your return", when I took the boots to a desk in the women's clothing department, the cashier indignantly told me that she could not process my request. When I mentioned that the return slip said I anyone could process it, she said "Well, shoes are commisioned; they're different" and turned her back. The only reason, in this day and age, to continue going to Macy's is for the customer service, but I don't need customer service like this... Don't know why should I come back. read more

Don't bother trying to get any of their black friday rebate promotions. I bought several items, submitted all the documentation including the receipts, form for the rebate (the clerk would only give me one form, and said all of the four rebates I was entitled to could be added to the same form) and they responded that they cannot issue the rebate because all documentation was not provided, and did not even specify what was missing. Growing up, my mom would take me to department stores every week and she would spend hours shopping. This meant that at a very young age I became very much aware of the department store seasons, one comprised sale cycles for different items, seasonal clothes, holidays, and so on. As an adult, I go to department stores on occasion for professional clothes, but rarely stay longer than 20 minutes due to my training as a child I know when and where to go. This Macy's, like many of the other Macy's in the U.S., caters to a much older demographic and the clothes are just not representative of the more fashionable Macy's, which is what I think of when I think of my favorite Macy's department store, the one in San Francisco. That one is classy! While the merchandise is lacking, the customer service here is always fine. Sometimes though, I have to hunt down someone to ring me up. With that said, this Macy's earns two stars in my book. The extra star, the third star, goes to a very special feature of this Macy's. The up escalator at this Macy's is the coolest escalator I have ever known. It has a mad jazz beat: kun-kung-chi-ka, kun-kung-chi-ka, kun-kung-chi-ka. Over and over this beat booms out of this escalator and when I am feeling a bit down I just soak up this crazy beat on my ride up and know it is all going to be okay. read more
