I recieved Excellent Customer Service from the young Gal in the Shoe Dept. My Hubby & I decided to do some exploring of the different departments in Macy's. First time at this location, but I did purchase some really nice sandals, MAC lipstick and a shirt. GODIVA is one of my favorite chocolates, but they didn't have all nuts. So I didn't purchase any. Also I was looking for a black purse, but they didn't have any nice COACH handbags, so I didn't purchase one. This Macys is pretty large and very spacious. I will definitely be back soon. read more

Macy's, I truly hate to lower a rating from a previous review. Yesterday we went mattress shopping visiting several area stores. When shopping for a mattress, one has to lie down on it to see which one is the most comfortable. There is no way we would attempt that here. Many of the mattress's on display were not just dirty, they were filthy and stained. We mentioned that to the salesperson on duty that seemed unconcerned and just quoted us the current sale prices. Needless to say we left without trying mattresses or making a purchase. read more

I went yesterday looking someone in specific in the jewelry department. I was walking around looking for that person and there was this one woman with glasses who kept looking at me. When I couldn't find the person I was looking for I went to go ask that lady if that person was working. She then looked at me with a funny face and then asked me why I needed to see that person. I proceeded to tell her that the person I was looking for works there (in the jewelry section) and that she had brought in a pair of shoes that I was going to pick up she then tells me that was the jewelry department and that the finish line was over there and that nobody worked the the jewelry with that name. I attend a lot of events and Macy's is always one of my go-to stores to try on dresses. They have a great selection of semi-formal wear. I also love the men's dept. I tend to prefer the fit of Calvin Klein on the men in my life (athletic cut/slim fit) and Fox Valley Macy's has a great selection and very helpful staff. And we can't forget the shoe dept. --Michael Kors, Coach, Armani, Frye... It's really too bad the shoe dept is right next to the makeup counters. Many shoe and handbag purchases have been a result of having to wait on my foundation and tube of mascara. ;) Today, I wanted new shoes to wear for sailing. I was crunched for time! I raced to get there and had only 15 minutes to pick out shoes, try them on, ring them up and get out. I did it in 10! On a Saturday no less! It was busy as always. Collette was very helpful and speedy. I found a pair of Michael Kors shoes that were $150. I instantly loved them on my feet. I thought "Why not? It's my birthday." I stood at the register with my card in hand, waiting for the total. She announced my total as being $70. $70 Michael Kors shoes when I was prepared and expecting to pay $150! OMG...I have never had a company fail six times to make a sale. I wanted to buy some plates that were on sale. I went to the store and waited for 30 minutes to talk with someone. No one ever came to help. Then I went to another Macy's and waited even longer before a man from mattress sales came over to me. He had no idea what to say. Then I tried only to order and got error messages. The system told me I could only order three mugs. WTH? Then when I tried again the next morning the sale ended. I called the store but got an overseas call center. I tried to order them but the man did not know the difference between a plate and a hole in the wall. Plus, he had such a heavy accent I could not understand him. I sent a message online and was told I would need to call the store...I tried that and you can not reach the store. I must not give up...I called again later and begged to talk to someone in the store and they put me on hold for 20 minutes before hanging up on me. I will miss the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but these guys deserve to go bankrupt. This is no way to run a business. read more

I remember when my family made a pact to never frequent Macy's, after it purchased and took over Marshall Field's. It took nothing short of my best friend's wedding to change my mind. It was one week before the wedding, and we needed bridesmaid dresses. Like, all of them. And lucky for us, it was prom season. And prom was on sale! We walked out with a maid of honor and bridesmaid dress within an hour and for less than a hundred dollars. I still can't believe our luck. Thanks, Macy's! The Good: Macy's return policy! I purchased a meat thermometer (Martha Stewart brand, should have known better) almost a year ago and it never worked. It would turn on, but it didn't stay on and was very lazy about it's job. I haven't gotten around to returning it until recently, and didn't even have the box for it anymore. Luckily, I still had the receipt and brought it in. The cashier needed the bar code, but they didn't have any in stock, so he looked it up on the computer and barabing baraboom, item successfully returned. The Bad: Armed with the store credit and gift card, I had about $60 to drop so I no longer feel obligated to return to the store. I swear, I spent at least an hour in this 3 story place trying to find something but was coming up short. Why was it so hard to spend money here? I tried on 5 pair of pants without any luck. Their Xmas clearance wasn't all that great. Eventually, I went back down to the basement level and ended up with 3 new memory foam bath rugs to bring home. They're super comfy! read more

Not Happy. My wife and I spoke with Illiana and were given a written price on a necklace. We went back to purchase the necklace only to be told by her that she had given us an incorrect price and it was around a $600 difference. She explained that she was new to the store but we were surprised that a manager could be so unfamiliar with her area and pricing. We left empty handed. Two thumbs down. read more

On Wednesday July 18, 2018 at about 11 am, I visited the lingerie department in Macy's at Fox Valley Mall. There were no sales staff in the department, and a customer who had arrived before me went to find one. She never came back, but a sales person did show up to return merchandise to a rack. She told me "This isn't my department. There's probably someone over in Dresses." As if I was to go looking for someone to help me. Then, another person came along and it wasn't her department either, but she did tell me that I should select something and she would look it up to see if they stock it in my size. That was not helpful, but at least she tried. I remained in the department for almost two hours looking for items in my size. Probably the best store at the Fox Valley Mall. If you've been to the Fox Valley Mall, you know that it's pretty old and a little run down. They keep it clean inside, but there are much better malls out there. With that said, if you find yourself at Fox Valley Mall, the selection of stores isn't spectacular. For the big stores, Macy's is the best here. Then they have JC Penny, Carsons, and Sears. At other malls, I may not say Macy's is the best. read more

I tried to nix unnecessary items for my wedding this past summer. I do my make-up every day, I have a cosmetic hoard, I worked at Ulta, I said to myself, "I can do this shit myself!" So I sat down and did my own trial. Then I photographed myself. Holy horror! I am well aware that I have very flawed skin, but I thought that being more thorough this time would help. I got online and looked for air brush foundation, because I'd heard of women using this as wedding make-up and it appeared flawless. I found one by Dior. So I headed to Macy's, ready to drop money on some new foundation. I met with Lejain, a very sweet salesgirl, at the Dior counter. I inquired about the air brush foundation, as well as the Diorshow mascara that I love. Somehow, she talked me into doing my make-up. She used more than 10 products, but I looked FANTASTIC - I wanted to kiss myself in the mirror! Since I was already buying the air brush foundation and some mascara, she wasn't extremely pushy in trying to sell me more items. I bought all but 1 or 2 items (I skipped the collagen enhancing clear lip gloss) and ended up spending about $600. Was it worth it? Well, my skin looked amazing on my wedding day, and now I have the nice foundations (I usually use Almay for oily skin) for when I want to do my make-up for nicer events. It was a lot to spend, more than what I wanted, but I've used each of the products several times (I should've bought a different brow pencil and saved some money). I don't know how I lived this long without the shimmer powder and bronzer. read more

I would say that ALMOST everything I said in my previous review for this place continues to be true. However, I would like to add something to my review and remove something from my old review. SO, after proclaiming to the world that Macy's should be ashamed of it's lack of men's shoes, I stumbled into a very respectably-sized men's shoe section today. Not only was there a good selection of kicks, the prices were actually pretty damn good. Unfortunately, though, I still have two criticisms about the shoe situation: 1) you shouldn't have a bunch of men's sneakers stuck in the women's department--you might give the impression that those are the ONLY men's shoes you carry, not knowing that there's a good selection of men's shoes tucked in a far-off corner behind the suits; and 2) if the only shoes you're going to have out on the floor are to display then you can't just have one person helping customers. With a lunch date rapidly approaching, I didn't have time to wait for the gentlemen to finish helping the customer he was with (who didn't seem to know her ass from the shoes she was looking at, and I feel bad that I got annoyed with the poor lady, who has the right to know nothing and depend on the employees to assist and educate her, that's what THEY are there for--the issue is that there was no 'they' it was only a single 'he'.) The thing I would like to add is that they carry a really awesome selection of nice suits, and with a wedding coming up and several straight men that depend on me to make sure they're dressed well, this place has really made a daunting task so much easier. The only criticism I would have about the suits is the same criticism I have had about their men's clothing in general: they carry nothing smaller that a 'small', no pants with waist sizes smaller than 30", and no suit jackets smaller than 38R. This means that I can't buy ONE SINGLE DAMN THING for myself in a store full of things I want. Really sucky is what that is. Otherwise, I would still highly recommend this place. read more

There are only two men working the entire men's department, one was at the register and one was stocking. Apparently there is nothing for the Super Bowl, even though it is this Sunday, nor are they carrying the Olympic gear. No reason to stay in men's department, so I went to women's. I looked for shoes for a good amount of time and could not find a single pair that were not made in China. I proceeded through womenswear after passing through jewelry. There were things on the floor in the entire area. Disappointment. Plus, the music from the Mac make-up counter was so loud, you could hear it in the majority of the store. read more

We buy the Frango chocolates at Macy's every year. If you have bought them this year, TAKE THEM BACK! DO NOT HAND OUT AS PRESENTS! My daughter wanted a small one for herself and we got all the way across the mall before I allowed her to open it. What we found we DISGUSTING; the chocolates had melted and converged into a nasty white, divot filled blob on one side of the package!! We went all the way back to Macy's and were told the store manager was off (on a weekend in December!) and the department manager would only let her exchange it for one the same size and flavor. After finding and opening three more that looked exactly the same, we found one that looked ok but the exp date was in two days!! My daughter tasted it and it was nasty but the manager would not let her get a different flavor, stating that's how the dark chocolate tastes. She made me buy one in a different flavor. I tried to call customer service but it's only for online orders and I tried to email but it's only if you have an order # so I'm turning to YELP. Return your candy; do NOT hand them out!! read more

I visited my favorite location after a very disappointing experience at the Joliet's locations Mac counter weeks prior. On Tuesday, March 28th I visited the Mac counter and browse for new make up and was wanting to make a purchase. Once again, no one even asked if I needed anything. As I walked around and wanted to try new colors no one ever acknowledge that I was standing directly in front of them. When my husband approach me and asked if I purchased what I wanted and shared my experience with him that I could not believe that no one in that department wanted to assist me or even acknowledge my presence. I love Macy's, but I have absolutely had it with this location's service. I probably spend between $200-$500 at Macy's during any given month. I've noticed compared to the Oakbrook location, the service at the Fox Valley location is far inferior. Usually it's minor issues that I can get past. However my visit this week was the absolute last straw. I was in the women's shoe department and it was not busy at all. The associate got two pairs of shoes for me to try on. She never came back to check on me or see if the sizes were working out. Fine, not the end of the world. When I decided on a pair of heels and brought them up to check out, she was nowhere to be found. It took about 10 minutes for her to come out of the back. The way she handled the shoes was horrifying. She picked up the shoes to check they were matching and correct in sizes, and the way she excessively threw them back down into the box was so rough and the heel was caught on the top of the box while she forced the rest of the shoe down so roughly that the heel nearly snapped! I would expect that when I'm spending almost $200 on a pair of shoes that the sales associate won't be chucking them like trash instead of packing them appropriately. After the transaction was complete she shoved the bag at me and ran off to the back again without a single word. No thank you or have a nice day, she just vanished. I then proceeded to the dress section where I had to return a dress. It was a special occasion dress I had purchased about a week ago, for an event that I ended up not attending. Note that the dress had never been worn, I had my receipt, and the tags were completely intact. The lady that helped me with that return was ruder than rude. Without even searching the dress thoroughly, she looked at me and very rudely said, "This dress has no tags, has likely been worn, and cannot be returned." Just outright and very accusatory. I told her that was not possible and that the tags were 100% on the dress still. I asked her to check to see if the tag had fallen onto the inside of the dress, which it had, since it was attached at the armpit of the sleeveless dress. Without saying a word, no apology for accusing me when she was mistaken, she processed the return and just said "ok" in the most monotone voice and began walking away. She gave me no receipt showing the credit going back on my account until I had to ask her as she was already over the whole thing. The receipt was printed and sitting on the printer, yet she acted as if it was the biggest chore for her to give it to me. I thanked her and she said nothing. I moved onto the juniors department to look for a gift. At this point after having two poor service experiences I should have just left and took my business elsewhere. However, I had some Macy's Money that I figured I could use before it expired. I picked out two pieces and headed to the register. The total came out to be less than the amount of Macy's Money that I had. However, the lady didn't give me back my card. The receipt clearly said at the bottom that I had a remaining balance. She insisted that I did not have any money left on the card. She was in such a hurry to get to lunch, that she had shoved the Macy's Money card through the slot on the cash register drawer, clocked out, and grabbed her purse. Since she was clocked out, she was not able to open the drawer to retrieve my card. It was such a hoopla for her to find another employee and get the card out from the bottom of the drawer, make sure it was my original card with my balance and not somebody else's used card. No apology for this mistake or for all of the time that it took to correct. She just seemed very hurried and annoyed the whole time. After this trip to this Macy's I will not be returning. The fact that it was 3 poor experiences with 3 different associates in 3 different departments, all in one day, is inexcusable. Service in this store across the board is cringeworthy and an absolute pain to deal with. You have lost a loyal customer and I will be encouraging my friends and family to shop elsewhere as well. read more

Usually have great things to say about Macy's since I l usually have good experiences. The last time though left my husband and I walking out of the store in complete disgust. Here's what went down... We were shopping in this location about 2 weeks ago as my husband needed something to wear for my son's 1st birthday party. We were looking around for a while and he picked a couple things out and we proceeded to the fitting rooms. Right in front of the fitting rooms was a shirt that was perfect as it basically went with the "theme" of the birthday party. The only size they had that was my husband's was on the mannequin. A young gentleman was extremely helpful and I'm assuming had left us to go ask a young woman if it was ok to take it off. He proceeded to come over and take it off the mannequin. Unfortunately the shirt didn't work but my husband decided to purchase the other two shirts he tried on, plus was thinking about heading back over to Calvin Klein to get another look at what they had. He thanked the young man for helping us and we headed back over to the section. Somehow between us leaving the dressing room and getting back over to the section, this young woman (whom I assumed the man that was helping us, asked her for permission to take the shirt off the mannequin) found out that we didn't purchase the "mannequin shirt" and happened to be in that department we were headed to, with her back to the aisle; speaking to another man (who didn't look dressed to be an employee) and complaining about us about the fact that we asked to have a shirt removed off the mannequin and didn't purchase it. The second she saw us in the section she started to change her "story" to the man. If you're going to complain about a customer, how about waiting until they're not in the store anymore. And if your biggest complaint about your job is taking a shirt off a mannequin, I really want to wish you luck on life, because you'll come to worse obstacles I'm sure than that. Online ordering sucks!! Over two weeks ago I ordered a bed in a bag special online and never heard when it was in. The chat person said it was in to come and get it, I cancelled my order because I bought elsewhere. was promised a full refund, which I never received. Then a week later they sent another email to pick it up. I chatted again and said to cancel my order and give me my refund. They promised it would be refunded Monday. Nope, still have my money! This review is for the jewelry department. I came in a little after mothers day to buy some earrings. There were two very tall white women with blonde hair working there and they LITERALLY ignored me the ENTIRE time. I kept trying to get their attention and they just stared at me then continued helping other customers. When one of the women was done with who she was helping she stayed on a computer while i kept calling to her. Someone approached her and she started helping them. I was quite literally right next to her. The girls at the jewelry department are RACIST as hell. I was the only darker person there and they made sure to let me know i wasnt welcome.
