    Otter statue

If you like otters, Serendipity has got an impressive (and very unexpected) selection of otter items. i walk in and I'm greeted my the cutest otter figurine ever. I wanted to buy it but at $35, I decided to try and hold off... though it's worth mentioning that it was marked down from $995. With the laugh I got from that alone was worth the trip in. There was also another large, framed otter poster in the back room and a stuffed animal as well... for those interested in acquiring the whole otter inventory here at Serendipity. The clothing selection wasn't huge, as the space doesn't really allow for it, but they had a large selection of antique and collector's dinnerware. The prices seemed pretty steep for most things, but I heard the woman working the store mention that they have someone on staff who researches the items and prices them accordingly. So, perhaps better if you're looking for something collectible for your curio/China cabinet, not so much for your personal closet or modern day living situation. On my visit, I wouldn't say the staff was overly friendly. At one point I was walking down an aisle that the staff member had walked into to hang something up or whatever, and she clearly saw me there, nearing the point at which she was standing, but chose to not acknowledge me in any way, not even move in a bit so I could get by. It felt a lot like she was knowingly (and rather ignorantly) giving me the cold shoulder and not allowing me to pass. Oh.Hell. No. You ain't Gandalf. Imma shove my way through just to prove a point now.

So expensive for resale and the selection isn't great. They wanted $17 for a simple sundress.

This store is always filled with good finds, especially if you're able to find a "color special"…read moreitem. They rotate colors and whichever color is on special is a percentage off. For example, "White tags are 25% off today." I've always seen 25% off, but I don't know for sure if they change the percentage. The selling process is typical frustrating. Having worked in a resale bookstore I understand the used buying process and always assume I'll receive little to no money for my items. Today, I sold 7 items: wall decor film slate, two paintings (unknown artist), two Chinese hanging lanterns (new with tag), one Harley Davidson metal plate wall decor, one large table cloth (new with tag). I received $5.50. There is a Good Will 5 minutes away on Aurora Ave and Foothill Drive. The items New Uses does not purchase I drop off for donation right around the corner, which is convenient. Overall, it's a good resale shop where hidden treasures can be found. It is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. My recommendation for management is to advertise tags in advance. Today, I saw many green tagged items I liked. If I knew when green tags would be on sale/special, I would come back the day of the green tag discount.

There's a large selection of books, most 3.00 and under, mass market paperbacks 50 cents, and periodically there are good old ones from the 50s or 60s. Some items are cheap. Some are costly. They also sell the very high priced stuff online, but there's still plenty of great stuff in the store itself. The bathrooms are old but super clean and not creepy like in some places. There are real antiques, beautiful furniture, art works, plastic storage tubs, all kinds of glassware, figurines, etc. Don't listen to the complainers. I go whenever I can and almost always find something I want.

The aisles are so crammed that it's impossible to navigate with a shopping cart, which really limits your ability to browse and buy. It's a shame because there were genuinely interesting items, from high-priced antiques to thrift-store finds, but the difficulty in moving around made it hard to truly appreciate them. After driving over an hour and 15 minutes to get there, leaving empty-handed was quite a letdown. While I appreciate that they at least had a bathroom, which allowed me to stay as long as I did, the overall hassle overshadowed any enjoyment. I'm not sure if I'll make the trek again for a second chance. I had high hopes, but ultimately, this place just didn't live up to them. Still worth a try. I did find that the employees just sat around on their phones so I couldn't get a feel of who they are. One actually scolded me for trying to pick up and item

My thought process, when thrifting, is: keep your parameters broad like "holiday decor" or "brand name clothing" and manage your expectations. Some days I might not find anything at all, but other days I will find an item for $5 that retails for $40. In the past, I have purchased Boden (sweater vest) and Cloth and Stone (brand sold at Anthropologie) at a significant markdown. You really have to sift through the racks and if you have a good eye for material, cut/style, and enjoy the thrill of a hunt, include this Goodwill location as part of your thrift store expeditions. You will find me googling brands on my phone in the middle of sifting, because I am curious about brands. I'd say less of their clothing is vintage, and more of it is donations from brands I recognize at popular retailers. When you walk in, the smell of air freshener will hit you pretty hard so if you can tolerate that, you should be all set. The best finds (to me) have been in the women's clothing sections (tops specifically); less so for kids toys, dresses, bags/purses or any other section. But... it depends on the day, week, flow of the donations as to what inventory you will find on the shelves. Overall, it's always been a pleasant experience here! They have a drive-through donation drop-off at the side of their store that makes donations really convenient as well.

I have frequented this place numerous times and have had the blessing of seeing it grow, rearrange and expand. Once I was in there and a worker there was so kind and helpful and even gave me a deal on the two chairs that I purchased. The most recent visit was just the opposite. No one to help or greet. I asked a question and was treated not only like I was stupid but said, "Here's the stairs right here", like I'm some sort of imbecile. I proceeded to want to check out and two workers were too busy complaining and I stood there and waited until they were done. Then when I gave my card she starts to tell me that my card wasn't accepted but then realized she put it in upside down. No apology just again an attitude. I spent over $50 and I didn't know that as a customer I'm such a burden. Take my advice hire friendly people who work only the floor to help customers if you're too busy to help and answer questions. I will still go but there are other shops in the area that I may consider visiting before I'll go back again.
