My review is based on donation experience only. This location has a nice drive up spot that is covered. Staff actually come out to help you which has not been my experience at the Willowbrook location as of lately. read more

I come to this Goodwill on occasion, sometimes to donate but mostly to browse. I love sifting through racks and thrifting for treasures. My thought process, when thrifting, is: keep your parameters broad like "holiday decor" or "brand name clothing" and manage your expectations. Some days I might not find anything at all, but other days I will find an item for $5 that retails for $40. In the past, I have purchased Boden (sweater vest) and Cloth and Stone (brand sold at Anthropologie) at a significant markdown. You really have to sift through the racks and if you have a good eye for material, cut/style, and enjoy the thrill of a hunt, include this Goodwill location as part of your thrift store expeditions. You will find me googling brands on my phone in the middle of sifting, because I am curious about brands. I'd say less of their clothing is vintage, and more of it is donations from brands I recognize at popular retailers. When you walk in, the smell of air freshener will hit you pretty hard so if you can tolerate that, you should be all set. The best finds (to me) have been in the women's clothing sections (tops specifically); less so for kids toys, dresses, bags/purses or any other section. But... it depends on the day, week, flow of the donations as to what inventory you will find on the shelves. Overall, it's always been a pleasant experience here! They have a drive-through donation drop-off at the side of their store that makes donations really convenient as well. read more

Great staff great options Service is great and the selections and value are descent. Really nice store read more

Great selection of items, well organized and priced great. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

Big location, but rather disorganized. The shelves of plates were stacked so precariously that I was afraid something would topple over! You really have to want to dig. There are fitting rooms if you need to try something on. read more

I loved this location when I lived in Naperville, although my visits could be described as somewhat infrequent. I've recently been on a Goodwill kick after turning up a couple of really good finds in recent months around the western burbs. I frequent the St Charles Main location and have also now shopped Elmhurst, Aurora and Bartlett. Upon returning yesterday to Naperville after frequenting other locations, I was struck by the difference in pricing! Whereas all of the stores I mentioned above price a majority of their non-name brand clothes at $3.99 a piece, I don't think I saw anything at Naperville under $5.99 -- even the "throw away" brands like Forever 21, Apt 9 by Target, etc. The dressing room offering at this location is likely the worst of the bunch, too. With the utilization of only 3 during COVID, there was a constant line. All in all, Goodwill in general is a fun, cheap way to satiate the shopping bug if you have some time and patience. A recent visit to StCh turned up a high end designer bag for $4.99....that's the stuff GW dreams are made of! read more

This Goodwill has really gone downhill over the last couple years. Difficult to go down aisles due to shelves being too close together. Items just thrown into heaps. Messy, poorly organized. Maybe it will get better when they stop accepting furniture and have more floor space. Clothing sometimes has holes where they've placed the sale tag. read more

hey, it's been some time. had to mention, in the last few years this store has been through 4, FOUR managers. the shopping experience has also changed do to covid & distribution & most likely, Mark Cuban who owns the company now. things are more price eyr now but finds can still be found. also, be kind. noticed one of the managers here just hates her job. she's been there for like 16 years and is miserable, so be careful who you talk to. happened to me. enjoy! read more

Prime Location in the middle of two large middle class burbs, lots of nice products donated, maybe the best donations of the Chicago Burbs. Not clear how much if any of the funds reach any local Charity, if any at all, none listed on web sites. Goodwill stopped training the mentally and physically impaired years ago, they repair nothing. Broken electronics are put on the floor with a no return policy. There are at least 5 other thrift shops with specific named local charities in the immediate area not inc Aurora, which has their own. A lot of the donations receive rough handling resulting in breakage and the separation of sets, matched items, and parts of the same product. Requiring lots of time to sift through the store to find the missing parts, or pieces of sets, if at all Substantial amounts of product are over priced and thrown into the dumpster if they don't sell after 30-60 days. The new management of this location can be fairly described as aggressive-negative and apparently Woke on the model of the Gillette Ad; that cost Gillett's parent company $16 Billion in lost sales last year. The 10% of their shoppers they want to run out are probably 60-70% of their dollar sales. A for profit resale not too far away went Woke a few years ago, after avoiding the place for a couple of years, I returned to find that all of the Woke skinny jeans Managers and employees gone, and a normal Retail Manager in their place, unfortunately it appears to be too late as most of the customers are also gone. There are other places with clear names of charities supported that are better places to donate, and apparently now better places to shop. One that benefits the severely retarded is relocating near by, they lost their lease to a new bar in Downtown Naperville. read more

This location has potential but falls so short. Store is a mess, and the cashiers are talking so much to their trainers that they arent focusing on what they are doing. I love hitting thrift stores, although I rarely find anything I actually want to purchase the thrill of the hunt makes it worth stopping by thrifts over and over looking for cool items. Many times in visiting thrift stores I check the sections most likely to have stuff I'm looking to buy and if I don't find anything suitable for procurement the duration of my visit lasts under five minutes. Of thrift stores Goodwill locations are generally some of the cleanest and best maintained. However this Goodwill is a bet messy, I've stepped in gum on the floor here, seen items just left on the floor that are tripping hazards. This particular Goodwill is the only one I've ever walked away from with items in hand. Why you might be asking? Well this Goodwill is just too damn crowded, I'd call it Badwill instead. I've seen instances where the entire parking lot is almost completely utilized. I've seen 20+ people in line with only one register open. While I have admittedly managed to make some decent finds here over the years, the hectic nature of shopping at this particular location is quite the turnoff. read more

See all

After a successful trip to the Goodwill in Carol Stream, I was eager to check out the Naperville store. It's close to my house but also hello- Napervillians have money. Some have lots of money and with their lots of money they buy lots of stuff they don't need or even use.I know this because I had many friends in my youth that lived in this city who'd go on shopping sprees, only to hang up the clothes in their closet and forget about them. Then the closet would get cleaned out because it was "too full" and the never-even-worn articles of clothing (tags still attached) went into a garbage bag to be donated. I kid you not. With that memory in mind, I set out for Goodwill on Friday afternoon, as I was out of work early. Upon entering, the store seemed relatively similar to the Carol Stream location. Again, shirts are organized by size and color. But the pants.... oh man. Good luck finding your size. I went to the section where my size would be located. Every pair of pants I pulled out was two sizes higher, or lower. Nothing with the exact number. I was perplexed. So I went up a size and managed to find some of the "right" size I was looking for. I couldn't find anything that looked right though (most were either "short" or "tall") so I gave up and browsed the shirts. Ever since I entered my thirties, I've been confused as to how to dress. I mean, I clearly cannot get away with juniors graphic tees with Mickey Mouse, "I don't sweat, I sparkle", or other obnoxious images/phrases on them anymore. Those days are (thankfully) over. But I've attempted to shop in the "Misses" section of stores and I felt the clothing was too frumpy and definitely not my style. It's frustrating. I managed to find two button down long sleeve collared shirts that screamed "responsible adult." They're perfect for work but also nice enough for casual wear. I also stumbled upon a gray sweater (even though I have about 4) but I saw it and instantly fell in love. Total price for the three name brand items was twelve dollars and some change. *Happy dance* This store has a large selection of purses, but I wasn't planning on buying one. I did chuckle at the few knock-off Louis V and Coach bags, though. The shoe selection looked decent, but again I wasn't in the market for any. And of course, the housewares section, as Angela P. said, is reminiscent of a "Hoarders" episode. For a Friday afternoon, the store itself was relatively quiet. I can only imagine what it's like on the weekends, but my first trip was enjoyable. The cashiers were friendly as were the floor associates. I hope the next time I'll be able to find decent dress pants for work in my size. read more

The Naperville Goodwill is a great location. As with many of the Goodwill locations in the suburbs of Chicago, this is a brighter, more modern location. This Naperville Goodwill, in particular, gets SUPERB DONATIONS! That being said, the customers at this Goodwill location act like those pesky seagulls that camp out in fast food restaurant parking lots, waiting for people to toss food out of the car, so the seagulls can swarm in quickly to be the first to get a crumb!!! Seriously, you need to wear combat gear here if you want to have a fighting chance to get something off of the carts the employees bring out! This location is clean, well lit, with friendly staff. The items are pretty organized at the beginning of the day, but gets rather messy as the day progresses. You are able to find "gems" in most any department. The bathrooms are open to the public and are relatively clean. read more

Expect to spend at least a half hour in line waiting to drop off donations. They have one person SLOWLY unloading the bags. Figure it out Goodwill! Hire another person! The store itself looks like someone threw the merchandise on the shelves-very messy displays and hard to find things. read more

One star because I can't give 0. Worst goodwill ever. All the clothes should be discarded. They all look like they came from the trash. Spots and pilling everywhere on clothes. If it's new it will be like 10$. I was surprised with naperville being a pretty nice area. read more

This is probably one of the messiest stores around. Things are piled upon piles, fragile items balanced upon stacks of other fragile items. You can't see anything and your risking it all if you actually want to touch or look at something. I was there 20 minutes and heard three giant crashes of glass/ceramics falling to the floor and breaking. I stood and watched as a worker placed a porcelain sugar bowl on top of a pile of unbalanced cups and saucers. It's a disaster and I probably blame management. They'd sell more if people could see what's there... even if it means weeding out the junk. Don't even bring your kids for fear of something falling on them. read more

What a busy joint on a Saturday! I headed in because I am really on the lookout for a *gem* of a dresser that I'll probably never find. Might as well buy new considering the gas money I'm spending searching for a deal. The place seemed well organized considering the approximately 100 people in the store rummaging through things. It was spacious and had lots of furniture options for great prices! An all-wood rocking chair was like $18. It's not the largest location I've been to, but it's definitely one I'll hit up again. Conveniently located across from Menards just past the Mini dealership. read more

My review is based on my experience with donations as I have actually not yet shopped this Goodwill location yet! My husband and I have been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing around our house this past month. We knew we were getting new carpets installed in our loft and spare bedroom at the beginning of the year, so that automatically led to cleaning out 2-3 closets full of stuff! Then, we decided to update our master bedroom with some new furniture. Needless to say, 2018 for us has been an out with the old and in with the new! I used to be more apt to sell things we no longer wanted on Craigslist or Letgo, but with the busy holiday season I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of it all. It was much easier making donations to Goodwill! The workers here are like a well oiled machine. You just pull your car up to the drop off door and they will help you unload all of your items. Often times (especially around the holidays) the drop off line can get pretty long, but don't be scared away. The process of unloading goes really quickly and everyone has been super helpful. I can definitely vouch for this because I've dropped off items on 3-4 separate occasions over the last month. Keep in mind your donations do have to be in good shape. Goodwill will make sure to give you a receipt for any items dropped off so you can use that for tax purposes which is nice. I've donated everything from home decor, office supplies, clothing, and furniture. So give back to your community and donate to Goodwill! read more

This is the best Good Will you will ever find! I've travel to many all over Illinois and other states. And hands down this is the best one. And here's why. 1. It's always neat and clean. 2. You can expect to find lots of brand new merchandise from high end retailers. 3. Always has antique art and oldies but goodies music. 4. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. 5. Best of all the regulars you meet are some of the kindest people you will ever run into. Through the years This Good Will has played a major part in helping me start a new normal . I have even met people who were starting all over from scratch just as I did. You can't beat that! read more

Good store for a great cause! I don't understand how people are giving bad reviews to Goodwill. If you have a bad experience, I can understand. But many people on here complaining that Goodwill doesn't have your size. Boo hoo. Goodwill is stocked with items donated by other people. Sometimes they may have your size, and sometimes not. Keep coming back and you will find it. Also, Goodwill is a Charity, thus, Non-Profit. That doesn't mean they don't need to make money. Do you think it's free buying buildings in each town so people have a Goodwill store? They have employees they have to pay also. Lastly, I would challenge anyone to show me better prices. Yes, you could shop at the dollar store or something, but where else can you buy an outfit for $20? Goodwill is for a good cause! They sell items as cheap as they can. Then, people with little to no money can buy something to go to work in. It's not free. I would recommend Goodwill any day to people that are on a tight budget. If your problem is your size, lose weight or go get a tailor or something. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I waited 50 minutes in my car, 25 of them stuck behind cars while I watched workers argue and remove pallets of donations. At one point, I thought they took a lunch break. It's inconceivable to think it takes 25+ minutes to remove four large boxes and two men and a manual forklift. When I suggested to keep the lines moving because some people had been waiting an hour. A charming young man proceeded to scream and walk towards my car saying, "Not my problem!" I then removed the pylons and left with several other cars. Keep up the great work! read more

This is the Goodwill I usually go to because of its convenient location. I've had some *really* good finds here. But you have to be able to deal with an annoyingly inconsiderate crowd. I honestly don't know how the employees put up with the bulk of customers here. They're trying to make it a little nicer. I like the changes they've made to the layout. But the customers are constantly making messes and clogging up the aisles, and they let their kids run wild. read more

Some areas of the store are well kept and others are complete shambles. I found no rhyme or reason to the dress area and it seemed like a lot of styles were mixed throughout the rest of the areas. I'm just happy they keep it somewhat color coordinated. I was on a hunt for an oversized blue sweater to use for a craft project and ended up finding exactly what I came for. I even walked away with two fitted blue sweaters and a dress-suit for interviews. My total was a whopping $25. The ladies who pick up the dressing rooms are super sweet. A lot of the guys were kinda creepy. A number of employees were openly staring and any woman in there who didn't look homeless. I think the most memorable part of my GW experience was asking a clerk if they could take a formal dress out from the locked display for me to look at. She unlocked it and goes, "So, did you just wanna look at it or are you sure you gonna buy it?" Well, that all depends on if it fits. It's a bright green $30, puffy formal dress. I don't think I'll get very far with it even if I'd considered swiping it, so ease up. read more

I had really good luck last week, so much that I have become a regular. Meaning, a daily, if not twice a day regular. This store is BUSY. Most of the time, shopping here is therapeutic treasure hunt; however, the days when kids are running the store and banging on things like it is Chuck e Cheese, my head becomes like a pressure cooker and it does get a little overwhelming. The staff is amazing. They have such a lovely, genuine attitude. In just a week (well I have been there approx. 20 times this past week), I have gotten to know a handful of regulars and most of the staff. It's a diverse mix of people, the staff and customers-so that has been fun in itself while chatting with them. I think the store is overall clean and organized. Due to the high traffic volume at this store (I had someone tell me before I started shopping there that it is the busiest Goodwill in IL), I think it may appear disorganized at times because of how shoppers barrel through items and leave them in a disarray. Really, my rating is closer to 5 stars...I just didn't want to tell you so that I could keep this place and all its goodies to myself. P.S. Be prepared for the soul train line that is formed at almost all times in the isle leading from the stock room...everyone is just waiting to see and score something as soon as it is walked through those glorious swinging doors. read more

PROS: All employees greet and acknowledge you all of the time. Employees are polite and helpful. Hidden treasures abound if you visit often and stay at least two hours. You can return clothes and electronics for store credit within 10 days. You can join "Club Goodwill" for free and receive regular discounts and coupons. The prices are AMAZING! Evening gown for $9.99, like-new mens designer leather jacket for $19.99, Banana Republic hobo bag for $4.99, crystal, silver, lenox figurines, English dishware, pictures for your wall, etc. all under $10! CONS: STRESSFUL! Other shoppers will steal things out of your cart so watch it like a hawk! There are two repeat offenders at this location; the 60+ male redneck with a beer gut, and a tall black woman who, when caught in the act, plays innocent. DO NOT WANDER AWAY FROM YOUR CART EVER! I shop this location three times a week and have witnessed their bad behavior more than once and have been victimized by each of them once myself. Better yet, bring a friend or family member to guard your cart and work as a team. This is sad, but true! This location is full of "me firsters" who will push you out of the way and monopolize those green bins like they own them. For those of you who do not know what the green bins are, they are what the new merchandise comes out in. Even though they say in English and Spanish, "Please do not shop from the bins", everybody does and management does not stop people from doing so. Most of the regulars here are polite and will not crowd the bins. They will step back and let others have a go at it. If you are patient, persistent and considerate, I think you will find shopping at Goodwill a rewarding experience. read more

Sometimes you walk into a thrift store and think, "Wow, I can barely tell this place sells someone's trash that may soon become my treasure." Other times, you walk out of a thrift store feeling a little dirty and wishing you could take a shower. Today was that kind of day. The Goodwill in Naperville was crowded, dark, and dingy. There was no rhyme or reason to the store, and quite frankly, it was a HUGE mess. I felt like I might trip over random stuff as I walked through the place. Of course, even in the dingiest of stores, if you're on a mission, you'll stop at nothing to find what you're looking for. So I stayed the course, and searched through the stock...quickly. We managed to find the perfect tie for the bf's Halloween costume. I found a wreath with some fake ivy for my costume. We spent about $2. The staff was pretty nice, but man I walked out of there thinking that I would most likely never return to this particular thrift shop. With the plethora of quality Goodwill stores, why on Earth would I come back to the bottom of the barrel? read more

Honestly, I have never shopped here before. But, I do donate gobs and gobs of stuff. If you itemize your taxes, you absolutely must consider using www.itsdeductible.com. My wife and I used to do the yard-sale thing. You'll find that the donating the items and using that website to track items - it is FREE- you will do much better. Plus, you are benefiting a charity. We are constantly giving excellent quality items - especially clothes that my son and daughters don't wear any more. (It kills me to give them those $125 jeans they don't like anymore.) Goodwill Industries does a lot of good for our community and those people who need help. I have always found the donation process to be excellent. You drive up and they will unload the car. You should be aware that they don't take everything - like tools, computer stuff, any liquids, etc.. read more

I would give this place higher if I could find some clothing here. I do find a wide range of house things like a desk for $19.99 that I painted and stenciled for my son, a coffee table for $9.99 and a great swivel leather club chair for $19.99 that is uber comfy. It is better now that there is more order to clothing; however, the prices have skyrocketed and coats are now $39.99??? At Goodwill?? Mind the hardlines because many times things are broken, or really bruised. I love donating here though, I drop it off and never have to look back... read more

I don't know where the rich Naperville people are donating their clothes - it certainly isn't here. The clothing selection is usually pretty bad. They seem to get Target's castoffs, which is good, except for the humiliation of realizing that you are wearing the very shirt you just found, brand new, on the goodwill rack. At least I took solice in knowing I paid less at Target than what goodwill was charging. Their housewares and furniture selection is pretty poor as well. It might be that things get picked over quickly, given that the place is always packed. I have had good luck with the books - they tend to have a lot of fairly new romance books. Oh, and donating here is super easy - you just pull up and they unload the back of your car, and you are on your way. read more

Came in on a hot, summer Saturday afternoon and scored a Talbots petite silk dress (needed a small repair), a TheSak purse (needed washing), and two great paperbacks--all for under $15. Now I understand why so many people come here in droves and a couple of friends say great things about this store. The electronics/housewares section is a little nutty, but it pays off if you know what you're looking for and have the patience. We usually donate huge amounts of stuff here, but it was nice to come in as a customer as well. read more

I needed to update my fall wardrobe, and I've become a victim of wearing the same 10 shirts over and over and over and...you get it. My co-worker always shows up at work, dressed more professionally than some of the others, and almost 100% of her wardrobe has been purchased at Goodwill shops. I had to give it a try, because for so long I insisted I could never find anything there. Visited on a Thursday, just after quittin' time. This store is much more organized and cleaner than I remember. I checked out the ladies sweaters and jeans. The sizes are (mostly) in the right place, so I didn't experience much "aww it's a 00" disappointment. You have to be patient in order to sort through the mountains of ugly, shrunken, out of style velour crap. But I struck gold today! There are some diamonds in the rough in their racks. I tried on six items, some designer and some not, and I bought 2: a red, tunic style Calvin Klein sweater and a pair of bootleg jeans from Lane Bryant. The jeans looked brand spankin' new. I spent $10, and those jeans alone would cost $50+ new. A few months ago I bought a cute t-shirt from Torrid for $3. The cashiers are really friendly. But the fitting room attendant, I didn't even know there was one, until I almost walked into a fitting room and she chased behind me, yelling, "HOW MANY?" I said, "oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you" and she just grunted until I said, "six." I very quickly browsed the housewares. It smelled like a moldy basement over there, and the shelves containing so many vases, baskets, and rejected ceramics reminded me of "Hoarders." This Goodwill is totally worth it if you've got the time. But if you don't have the time, you'll go on thinking you can't find anything either. read more

This is a stand-alone Goodwill, so it's easy to get to and has a nice big parking lot. And a drive-through donation center so can drive in and out if you're in a hurry. Big and clean. Lots of employees there organizing the racks. The cashiers were nice but the employees on the floor weren't the nicest. Decent selection of clothes, of course there are some dated items, but there's also a lot of new styled items. Lots of brand names. Avg price is $3.99-$5.99 for items. Yay for dressing rooms! I put back 3 pairs of pants since they didn't fit well, saved me $12! They have a pretty good book selection. They are decently priced and sorted by type. They have a large section of children's books. Maybe I went on a bad day, but the housewares section was pretty awful, things were broken, pots were missing lids, lids were missing pots. Boxes of puzzles & games were open so who knows if anything was missing, there's a good chance they were. read more

The Naperville store is very messy and the prices are higher than other Goodwill stores in the area but they do have a variety. This location is a good size, and while I have been there to peruse clothes (sometimes you need something unusual that you just can't find elsewhere), and glassware, I most recently went to browse their Children's books. Books can be expensive and I was surprised at the cheap prices and decent selection. I need another book like I need a hole in my head but I left with a stack in tow anyway :) I've also dropped off things at this location and the experience has always been quick and easy...they will give you a receipt but you should keep your own itemized list for tax purposes. read more
