I purchased a ceiling fan late last summer and when I tried the remote this Spring it didn't work. I changed the batteries but that did not solve the issue. I stopped in the store and spoke with David who was extremely gracious and helpful. I had the manual with me and he explained the pairing process and highlighted/flagged the page I needed to refer to when I returned home. I followed his directions and the remote now works. He also took a copy of my receipt, so I would not be required to return to the store if the process was not successful. Excellent customer service. I have always found the sales assistance to be exceptional. Referral to electrician for hanging was a very easy process. Products might be a bit pricier, but I have learned you get what you pay for! I called about a Minka chandelier , a line they that they carry. Theresa did not have the round chandelier I requested but had a similar style by Savoy House. We immediately went over and liked the Savoy chandelier. We asked about the return policy and delivery time. No problem with returning, credit in the store- no restocking fee- and delivery was about 2-3 weeks or we could take the one in the floor. We opted for the floor model. They had us return the next day to pick it up - it was boxed in original packaging and No waiting time in the pick up either. Plus Theresa's price was $300 less than her competitor for the same chandelier and the Savoy chandelier was close to half the cost of our original choice. Tried to find replacement monorail light and man behind counter couldn't show more disinterest and unwillingness to help. I didn't know the brand which is why I was there. Only suggestion was to take apart the base. That's it. Not very customer service savvy and mildly infuriating. Would rather look online then try to support local business and deal with such apathy. Over the years I have purchased lighting from Galleria several times. I have NEVER been disappointed in my choice. I love going into the store and seeing all the fun things as I work my way back to the lighting section. So many beautiful choices and loads of catalogs if you don't find exactly what you want on the floor. Lots of unique items that are of better or best quality than you find at the big box stores. Prices are very competitive. You do have to wait to for it to be custom ordered, but if you plan ahead and are patient, when it arrives it's like Christmas. We went in looking for a light fixture for our foyer. Sue approached us and was very pleasant and ready to help in any way. You have to pay up front to place your order. They are a little bit on the pricey side but they do have a good selection of fixtures big or small. Sue said this fixture should arrive in 5-6 weeks. She said some take very long up to 10 weeks but not this one....Well we just received it took 12 weeks . No big deal we weren't in a rush but the issue is there is ZERO communication. They wait until you call and by that point customers maybe upset. Frustrating, there's no type of accountability. You just have to deal with the delayed delivery. I second Robert's review below. We ordered a pendant, paid upfront and was told it would arrive in 4-5 weeks. It is now over two months later and still not in. Every week we call and we get the runaround, sales people telling us it was just shipped and will be in in a few days. This week, 2 sales people said they'd get back to me with the status and no one has called back as of now, Friday evening. The customer service is horrible - very rude over the phone, cutting me off as I speak and disregarding my concern. If you find something you like here, hopefully they have it in stock. Otherwise you may chalk up a few hundred dollars for being empty handed for months. Will not purchase from here again, simply because of the lack of competence in the orders department and extremely poor customer service. read more

Hey ladies.... did you know there's a woman line of clothing in here? Pretty swanky from what I can tell. Some nice artwork too, amongst the hundreds of lighting fixtures. I stopped in to get some ideas on under cabinet lighting. They don't have the greatest display at this time, but it certainly served the purpose. The best part was David's knowledge and patience in showing the different led lighting options. The only draw back is nothing is in stock and my customer is in a hurry. I may go counter to some of the reviews here... My wife and I have both separately and together shopped Galleria for lighting. I really love their selection and their prices are fairly competitive (btw, negotiation is very doable here). Beyond what is hanging, the catalog library is quite extensive. As far as service, everyone I have dealt with has been very knowledgeable, or not afraid to ask an associate if they do not know the answer to the question. Merchants like these are often at the mercy of their suppliers. I have found across the board lighting to require some "patience" in that area. If there has been a problem, they have ALWAYS stood behind the sale and worked with us to correct the issues at the lowest or no cost. We have recently had great experiences with Michael regarding some pendant lights, and he even hunted down a transformer for a pendant we did not purchase there nor do they carry (over 10 years old). As far as not being approached at a lighting store right away...I personally like that style. I like to do a nice "round" of the store and pull it in. Once I have some ideas of what I like, I then start using an associate. It is then the associates at Galleria are very attentive throughout the process until either a sale is complete, or I at least have all the information I need to make a decision. (This explains why sometimes one has to wait for an associate as purchasing lights is not a 2 min transaction). This approach is similar at the other popular lighting stores in the Western Suburbs I have shopped. We do always go to Galleria first...and usually end the search there too. read more

I have been a long time customer of this store. I have purchased at least three chandeliers from them for various houses, as well as lamps and fixtures. But I hadn't bought anything from them for a few years when I went into the store recently. A good portion of the floor space has been turned over to baby and girls* clothing which means there is significantly less to on display. My problem with the store now is that the price of an item depends on who your salesperson is. I got a reasonable price on a fixture, but when I went back to buy it only a few days later, my next salesperson wouldn't honor that price. And it was a fairly expensive item. We ordered track lighting and were told it would come in about two weeks, which was perfect as we were in the last stages of a bathroom remodel. Well, two weeks turned into three when the lighting was somehow rerouted to Denver instead of Chicago. Then delayed another week because they were for some reason unwilling to get it to us by rush delivery. I can live with a wrong delivery location (though it is 2014...). We had to make numerous calls to find out the status, even though we had been assured that we would be contacted. If you are placing a custom order be fully prepared for it take well beyond the quoted 4-6 weeks. I called 6+ weeks after placing the order wondering where my lights were only to find that the lantern I'd ordered was on backorder and won't be arriving at the distributor for another 4+ weeks. I would've never known that had I not called---absolutely ZERO customer service and/or consideration of timing for the customer (contractor is already scheduled to install the light which obviously won't be available.) Apparently the two other lights I'd ordered have been in for weeks but again, they never notified me. Save yourself time, frustration and money and buy your lighting elsewhere. read more

I've had several great experiences. The pricing does not get any better. They can order nearly any major brand. I worked with Sue, who was extremely patient and helpful. Yes, it can take a while for the lighting to come in but that's the fault of the manufacturer misquoting lead times, not Galleria. I did order a few items from them some of which came in very fast and some that took a little longer. I did have to call and check on my order but she did get back to me letting me know what the issue was. Very disappointed. Very poor customer service. I placed my order on December 30th, and Dan said it would take about 3 weeks. My credit card was charged immediately. After 3 weeks had passed I called to check on the status of the order, and the person who answered the phone said she would contact the manufacturer and get back to me. A week later no one had bothered to call me back. So, I called again this morning and Heather said the person who checks on the orders was on maternity leave, that there was no indication she had heard anything from the manufacturer. So, she was going to check and call me back. It is now 5:15 PM, and I have not heard a word. Clearly, Galleria does not value my business, and they are not at all concerned that they have taken my money and have failed to deliver the merchandise or to offer an explanation as to when I might expect to get it. read more

10+ Weeks now and 12 calls and after various excuses and new delivery dates we asked to cancel our order. They were willing to cancel even though we had to sign a contract.
