I absolutely LOVE this place! I see some old reviews on here, and wanted to comment because I know they are under newer management and a lot has changed in the last two years. The store is more organized and staff is always super friendly and happy. They are always getting new pieces and the store is never the same week to week. I always recommend Acostas to everyone! You can get way better furniture here at a better price than the big box stores. If you haven't been within the last year or two, give it another try! Sad to see people making comments about an employee worried about safety and about whether or not a piece is real leather. Small businesses work so hard and should be supported over retail giants! Shameful business practices. I've purchased several items from Acosta's and never blinked an eye at what they claimed on the price tags until this weekend. They have a sectional couch out calling it leather. I work with leather as a restoration specialist and I knew this sectional was not leather. So, I pulled the product information ATTACHED TO THE PIECES BY THE MANUFACTURER. It clearly states polyester fiber. I questioned the man of staff and he spent 5 minutes looking at the pieces then at his computer then came back and tried to claim that it's bonded leather. The piece is NOT leather. It clearly lists that it's polyester fiber but Acostas is representing it as leather. They're violating consumer protection laws with deceptive business practices. I'm filing a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau. This guy cannot just claim something is leather without any supporting documentation and act like the customer doesn't know better than he does. I was in the Wheaton location this past weekend. I let my daughter step up a stair to see a bunk bed when a store rep started yelling at me from the other side of the store. I didn't hear what the woman was yelling about though got the impression she didn't want my daughter stepping up a perfectly normal and naturally inviting step for children. There was no sign which indicated a request to not step on the stair nor something preventing such action. She offered no apology or other and apparently believes it normal to display such bad behavior toward folks. read more

Charming place to shop for vintage pieces. I recently bought an older home in DuPage County and saw this shop on my way to work. After work I stopped and bought some pieces to go with my decor. The sales lady was very pleasant and I felt the prices were extremely fair. Acosta's is also very honest which is extremely important to me. read more

My husband and I have sold, purchased and consigned with Acosta, and could not be happier with the owners and how they care about what they bring into the store. Quality and value to say the least. Items are better than new. I just purchased a Nao collectable and cannot say enough about the sale associate Becky. Our experience with Acosta's was horrible. We consigned a sofa that was originally over $3,000, and after paying for them to transport our sofa only to put it in donation without our knowledge, we will never use them again. After arranging a pick-up time and taking time off work, the drivers never showed. Once we were finally able to contact someone at the store, they admitted that they forgot to add us to the list for the days' pick-ups. Then they charged us extra because the drivers would now have to drive in rush hour. I contested this a week later and received a small reimbursement. Our sofa is gray. They listed it as brown on their website. I had to call to have that corrected. Eventually, I knew the 90 consignment window was up, but never received a phone call. I called them. They said they attempted to call before putting my sofa on the donation floor, but my phone was out of service when they tried to reach me. Absolutely not. I couldn't believe the blatant lies, horrible customer service, and disgusting disrespect. read more

I've been into this store several times over the years as both a customer as well as a consignor. I have seen it cluttered and packed at times, but in their defense, they get in a mind-boggling amount of furniture. The prices on a few things things are high, but they are high end brand pieces so if I was shopping for names, the pricing would be in line. Overall, most items are priced fairly and I have found several bargains. When I have consigned, my items sold fast and for good prices. They offer discounted pickup service and direct deposit which is great. Would recommend for both consigning and shopping. read more

Over priced garage sale merchandise. This is where people put there junk to sell instead of having a garage sale or throwing it out. Inflated original prices and inflated selling prices. Outrageous delivery charges. Yes, there use a third party to deliver but still those prices reflect on the stores image and name. read more

Customer service is not their number one priority. I was in the location and spent seven hundred dollars on chairs and a tapestry hanging. I called later and asked if the other matching tapestry could be held for me because my friend wanted to buy it for me for a birthday present but couldn't get there until the next day, a Saturday. I did not have his credit card on me so I could not pay and they would only accept payment to hold a 99.00 tapestry item. I could see if it was someone who never shopped there, but I have been on their email list for three years. read more

I consigned for the first time recently and had a wonderful experience! They took my dining room set, provided pick up, (which was very efficient) and sold it before I knew it. Proceeds were directly deposited to my bank account. Would highly recommend them. I have also perused the store several times, and love the quality items they receive and how they display. I bought a Nora Fleming dish for my sister for Christmas (they carry this line as new not consignment) My sister loves this brand and has a large collection. When I purchased the dish it was new in the box and I did not open it. To my surprise, when my sister opened it, it was plastic and not ceramic. I went back to EXCHANGE it for a ceramic dish because the plastic dish isn't even the same color as the ceramic dish. . My sister prefers the ceramic. When I went to the Acosta store in Wheaton I asked if I could exchange it. The Manager quickly said no returns and had an attitude right from the beginning . I explained to her that every single dish and item on display in the store was ceramic and I felt like it was misleading. I have never seen a plastic Nora Fleming dish before. I have have bought thousands of dollars worth of items from their location in Elgin and Wheaton. I have lived in Wheaton for 30 plus years and ALWAYS try and support small businesses. I could of easily bought the same exact dish from Amazon and could of returned/exchanged it without an attitude or problem. As I was walking out the manager said "try reading the return policy". Again, I was not trying to return it but just exchange it. I will continue and support small businesses but I can honestly tell you I will not shop at any of Acosta stores because of the way I was treated. read more
