A few years ago, I saw a friend post a picture of a store with an insane Jellycat selection, so I messaged her and had to know where, and she told me about Fairytales in downtown Lombard. I have since probably purchased over 20 Jellycats from here, it's my favorite way to do so because I love supporting a local business and this shop is genuinely just the best. Outside of Jellycats, I've gotten Hello Kitty Blue Sky Ceramics, an Allen designs clock, Christmas ornaments, a lazy Susan, and baby gifts. Although I don't live in the area, anytime I'm out towards Oak Brook I ALWAYS make sure to stop by Fairytales to see what's new. Unfortunately due to the immense popularity of Jellycats, their stock has declined significantly which is a bit of a bummer, but it seems to be out of their control from my understanding. Everyone I've interacted with here has been incredibly sweet, I've done waitlist orders (I was able to get the large snow dragon jellycat this was as well as some of the rare Christmas ornaments!), and I've done a few online pickup orders as well. Each time my items are packaged beautifully and I feel so special walking out with the super high quality, beautifully branded Fairytales bag. Downtown Lombard truly has a gem, if it was closer to me I'd frequent a lot more, but it just makes my trips even more special when I do get to stop by. read more

Had a great experience virtually/over the phone! I wanted to purchase a jellycat that is sold out in multiple places and found it on their website. It's a gift for a friend so my shopping and billing address were different - and I was told for that reason to use PayPal or call the store. About a year ago, late at night, I drove past a storefront in downtown Lombard that was adorned with white holiday lights. "Fairytales, Inc." was written across the windows. Enthralled, I looked it up online and remembered it so I could stop in the next time I was in the area. Fast forward to this year -- I now work in Lombard. I took the back roads to work one morning and passed by Fairytales, Inc! I returned later that afternoon on my way home to drop in and explore all the magic inside. I was expecting a whimsical mix of dragons and fairies and gingerbread men. Instead, I found hand-carved mice and cuddly teddy bears. And oodles of holiday decor. Yeah. This store disappointed me a bit. First of all, no one greeted me as I walked around. I walked past three different employees (I think it might be a family business?) and no one acknowledged me. No one said anything to me on my second visit, either. Secondly, the items in this store were kind of... random. Random, and not magical. However, they were still delightful in some ways. I did enjoy seeing what they had. Fairytales, Inc. has little, hand-carved mice called Wee Forest Folk, a wall of fancy stuffed teddy bears, teacups and coffee jars, stuffed monster dolls, handmade (and painted) tables and chests, jewelry, Scrabble-inspired decor, artisan signs painted in bright colors and words, painted wine glasses, Willow Tree figures, and unique, high-end holiday decor unlike the typical cheap things from big box stores -- funky skeletons, wooden pumpkins, nutcrackers, delicate snowmen, ceremic easter eggs, and so much more. Pretty much half of the store was filled with these kind of holiday decorations. There were also novelty gift items (shot glasses, games, mugs) that you would expect to find at Spencers, not "Fairytales, Inc." Most of the things in this store didn't really fit the name, with the exception of the little carved mice and some Wizard of Oz figures. The only thing I lingered on were Storysquares, which were created by the same artist that made many of the artisan frames and signs. Storysquares are painted wooden squares that you can put together to create personalized wall decorations that reflect your personality and values. I nearly bought a few, then I realized they weren't cheap and I just couldn't afford them. Plus, I didn't really *need* them. I couldn't afford a lot of the things in this store, actually. Everything was a bit too expensive for my decorating tastes. Cute, and interesting, yes, but not quite my style. At least I know where to go if I need some tiny mice figures or a giant, stuffed giraffe. Or those Storysquares. read more

It's a cute shop. It's very tidy and well organized. I went in looking for Halloween decorations to send off to a college kid to decorate their dorm room and I found a few things that were unique and easy to ship. Cashier was polite. She did ring me up incorrectly- accidentally charged zero for a $17 item- but I called the shop once I got home and the other clerk was able to ring me up for the item over the phone. read more

When I first went here years ago they had the most amazing selection of collectible dolls. Since then they have moved toward other collectibles including Gund, these little mice by Willy Peterson, great candles, super fun gifts like Lolita glassware and my favorite Swarovsky jewelry. What I love about this store is the buyers taste. I love everything there. At most stores I have to wade through stuff I know other people might like but I find kind of aesthetically lacking. At Fairy Tales, everything is of great quality and really beautiful. If they are not too busy ask them about their correctable mice and other things. This is an amazing store to walk around and browse in but some of the items are crazy expensive. They sell a lot of different collectible items - Willow Tree, Gund, Wee Forest Folk, Disney, Ugly Dolls, Precious Moments and the like along with some local artisan items including a gorgeous lazy Susan with a mosaic print for only $400. The store also features an array of stuffed animals, holiday themed items, some off the wall gift items (zombie shot glasses, mustache pencils, etc...) and lots of board games toward the back of the store. The staff is very helpful if you have questions but they also watch you like a hawk (with good reason, I suppose, considering the prices) as you peruse items in the store. read more

This shop is a cute, fun place to go to for home decor and collectibles. They have great gifts to give such as Willow Tree statues, Chamilia bracelets and charms, Steif and Charlie bears, and Lolita wine glasses. The gifts here can be pricey, but yet affordable. Shopping for gifts can be difficult, but shopping for gifts here is fun and easy. The items here each have their own personal touch to it making it easy to find a gift that fits the person who you are shopping for. read more

I have driven past this store (that used to be that cool Catholic book/gift store) a lot and enjoy seeing their different window displays for the different seasons. It was the Shop Local Small Business Saturday (or something close to that name!) last weekend so I decided to finally stop in and visit and see what they had. I loved the store! They have tons of great home decorations, collectibles and gift ideas. I spent a long time in the large store. I spent more than I planned to spend on a cool clock, Christmas decoration, and a Scrabble set for the refrigerator for a gift. The prices were high but I'm sure reasonable for the items and they also had sale items. The people working were friendly. It's a fun store to be in. I'm so glad to have finally visited! read more

Customers beware - inflexible, discourteous owners have rigid and ridiculous return policy. ONLY 3 DAYS for a refund and 30 DAYS for a store credit! After 30 days you're SOL. My husband purchased an item for me for Mothers Day and I decided to return it on June 11 - they would not refund my money, wouldn't even consider it. Had to find a bunch of items I didn't want to use up store credit. The store is over-scented, full of chatchkes, definitely not my taste and no consideration was given to me.
