I was just stopping by to drop off something that one of the owners had purchased from me off of marketplace and have now been telling all my friends and family to check the place out if they're ever in downtown Glen Ellyn. It's a great boutique plant shop with a nicely throughout design and layout and some great plant and home goods offerings. There were so many cute plant and holder options! Prices were reasonable and plants were in great condition. The staff member was very friendly and knowledgeable about plant care. Great shop. An eclectic mix of items but it'd you're looking for a gift, this is a place you will want to stop. The high priestess and Hermit candle are my favorites. High priestess smells a bit like apple cider to me--just the tiniest bit; like a hint as you're trying to figure out what the scent reminds you of before it fades. The other candle smells woodsy and rich, but not overpoweringly so--very very subtle, but enough to conjure images of the deep woods. They have a few plants too, and their plants are beautiful. I think they may sell some on Instagram; when I stopped in there were several plants with names on them on the one wall, seemingly for pickup. They have some great pots--I do NOT need new pots, but I bought a constellation pot and almost bought another but was able to control myself. I also considered a plant or two, but I need to control myself with plants for a while too. Staff were friendly, not overbearing. Their hours on Sunday are short--10-2. They're right in downtown Glen Ellyn, but not along Main; they're around the corner, and there are a few parking spots in their lot or on the surrounding streets. Good Roots has gotten some good press lately (see the story on their Instagram page), and they also received recognition from the village of Glen Ellyn. Much deserved; this is a great shop, whether you're out for a stroll in downtown Glen Ellyn or are on a mission for a great gift. read more

Good Roots is a neat little store that sells houseplants, vintage items, and select Turkish textiles and is staffed by the nicest people a customer could ask for. Located just off Glen Ellyn's Main Street, it's the perfect kind of store to pop into when you have a few minutes to burn or are looking for that perfect accent plant for your home. As soon as you step inside you feel a welcome-home vibe that makes you think you cannot leave empty handed. They have a wide array of unique plants and an even wider variety of pots in which to place them. Additionally, there's neat little vintage-inspired knick-knacks to accent any area. On top of all of this, the staff is as friendly as can be and able to answer any question posed; adding their own thoughts on inspiration, if desired. Good Roots is a great addition to any town and I'm glad they... ahem... put down roots here in downtown Glen Ellyn. read more

I found Good Roots while on the search for a place that specialized in indoor plants, instead of your typical outdoor nursery/garden center, and WOW this place did not disappoint. If i could live there, I would. They were super nice and gave me a discount on one of the plants I got because it was looking a little droopy, but it was just in need of watering, and perked right back up once I got it home! Good Roots is a cozy, feel-good plant and home goods shop with THE BEST finds. The shop itself is must see; I could literally spend hours perusing the plants, candles, and vintage goods.
