This review is based on my experience at the Macy's Return/Exchange Counter. Like many Christmas gifts, I received garments that didn't fit, so I checked on-line if the proper size was available. They were, so I took the ill fitting garments down to Macy's to be exchanged. As luck would have it, the proper size wasn't available at this store. Knowing the Macy's return policy, I requested that the young man behind the counter order the right size for me in exchange for my ill fitting garments. Simple enough, right? WRONG!! He refused to do it! I'm unsure whether it was due to laziness or ignorance of the process, and he informed me that there were only two alternatives: 1. To take a refund, and purchase the garments when they were available (at a higher price) or 2. Keep the garments. Instead of trying to school the stubborn clerk to their exchange policy, I took the refund, and PROMPTLY called Macy's Customer Service line to complain. The agent I spoke with ABSOLUTELY apologized, and ordered the garments at the Black Friday price, and she was not happy that the clerk at the Arcadia's Macy didn't do the right thing. I do hope that the Macy's Management at the Arcadia Westfield's mall pays attention to Yelp reviews. And BTW, we ARE PLATINUM Macy Customers... what a disappointing experience. read more

The Macy's women's restroom was in MUCH need of cleaning. It was clear that the restroom had not been cleaned in hours. There was no seat covers, toilet paper in one of the stalls and trash over and spilling over in the trash cans. read more

Came in for a jacket for my teenage son who is extremely particular about his clothing. In all honesty I haven't been to this location in about 7 or 8 years and I have to say I was impressed with the service and selection. We were greeted almost immediately upon entering and asked if we needed assistance. I don't think this has ever happened to me at Macy's West Covina where I usually shop. We found what we were looking for and were pleased to find the jacket was discounted from $200 to $60. My son was pleased and I did not go broke finding him something he liked. Came to this location because we were going to eat at Benihana's. I needed some new black shirts for work and I always liked both pricing and options Macy's offer. This location was clean, organized and easy to locate what I needed. My only wish was access to a sales clerk in the men's department. Maybe it was because it was later in the day and not many clerks are needed, It just took a lot longer then I anticipated to check on different sizes available in the back stock. Other than that my experience was good and I can recommend this place to shop at. Support your local department stores. It's great to be able to try on clothes. read more

This is why Macy's won't survive. I wanted to buy a bath towel so I went online to Macys.com first to check if this store had it in inventory. The online Macy price was $32 (60% off online) so I went to this Macy store thinking it would be the same price because it's the same company. NOPE, what a fool I was, the same item was full price at $80 and the cashier said there's nothing she can do about it. This has the be the worst customer experience ever to find out the same company is essentially competing amongst itself (online v. store), and the consumer suffers here, wasted a trip, and didn't buy anything. I bought a watch from Macy's online 3 weeks ago. When I received the watch, it was too big.So, I went to Macy's Fine Jewelry Department, and an employee named Shannan was serving me. I told her that the watch looked like it was not working and too big, so I asked her if she could adjust it for me. Shannan was very patient and nice. She helped me find the nearest watch vendor and asked them to send a new watch to me. She also helped me adjust the perfect size of the watch. Also she helped me setup the 5 years warrantee and a free battery change for lifetime. She knows what the customer needs. She even said that Macy's customers are her customers too, even though I bought the watch online. I was very thankful because at the same time I bought the 2 watches from Nordstrom Rack online and I asked the same questions with their "Member Care." They replied to me they can't solve my problems seems they don't have a after-sales service. Of course I returned the purchase the next day. I highly recommend Macy's. So rude!! I am international and was trying to buy my family from home perfumes to take him with me. I went to the men's section to get cologne for a friend and was directly asking a question to the worker. The lady I was speaking to refused to help me and went straight to an older gentleman. I am a straight woman and my complaint is about the bathroom. The store is like every other Macy's. I was directed by the sales clerk to the bathroom and was warned it was "Co-ed". So I go in the NASTY bathroom..... There are THREE urinals, and one commode. I had locked the door behind me, and get this, despite there being three urinals, the toilet see was UP, piss all over the floor around the toilet. I'm returning a pair of Ralph Lauren crop pajamas with sleeveless top that I purchased online. Unfortunately I figured that having paid $67.00 for that brand, I'd get something pretty good. Oh, was I wrong! The pajamas are seriously WallyWorld rejects. Cheap flimsy cotton fabric, the cut was way off, so the pants didn't even sit right on my body. The print, which looked great online was faded and combined with the cheap fabric, just looked awful. I will be returning these for a refund, pronto. Lesson learned. This review is about Macy's website and online ordering from them. As anyone who has ever shopped at Macy's knows you're going to end up spending at least $500 to get a new wardrobe for the season. I was very happy to see that there was a huge sale going on. On top of Regular sales you can take an extra 30% off. It was awesome. I ended up saving over $300 on my order... That is great, now here comes the annoyance. The website is is full of archaic scripts and popups. If you run a ad-blocker/script blocker to keep people from hi-jacking your PC you have to shut everything off to be able to work their website which I *loath*. I do not like making my computer vulnerable for anything but in order to do my shopping I had to shut them off. I would often have to reload pages because of script errors. So after I picked out what I wanted. I went to check out, entered in my information and SELECTED 3 DAY SHIPPING. Which cost me an extra $9. I made the order the night of 5/01/2017. I got an email on the morning of 05/02/2017 saying that my order would not even be shipped until the 3rd. There for pushing out delivery until the 5th or the 6th. I paid for "Premium" shipping and will end up getting their free shipping service (Ground shipping 3-5 days). I am very disappointed. Don't offer 3 day shipping if you cannot provide me delivery on the 3rd day of ordering or make It CLEAR that it's "3 DAYS TO WAIT FOR IT TO MAIL OUT." Which is ridiculous. read more

I went to another location in Puente Hills to return a shirt. It was a clearance item. Two different associates at Puente Hills wouldn't take the return. I took it to Arcadia. The associate at Arcadia made a better effort. I'm getting a merchandise credit in the mail for the value of the shirt. (At least I can use that on that pair of Dockers khakis.) I took my son shopping for graduation clothes at the Macy's store at the Santa Anita Mall. Store Rep, Jason (men's department) was very helpful and patient in helping me son select his clothing items from shirt, pants, tie, and socks. My son really liked his style and the clothes fit perfect! Thank you Jason so much for helping my son out! Next, we had to get dress shoes and Macy's don't carry larger than size 13. Store Rep Eliana brought out some styles anyway and suggested some which may fit my son since different styles also vary in size. My son selected a pair Eliana had him tried on and they fit perfect! Thank you so much Eliana for helping us out! There was this small Asian guy whom I thought at first didn't work in the men's shoe dept but turns out he did. He pretended not to see us when I was about to ask him for help and kept himself on his cell phone. I don't think he likes working there. --- REVIEW FOR THE MEN'S DEPARTMENT STAFF --- For the record, my mama is a frequent shopper at Macy's (more so online than in-stores so we receive several packages every week) even though we've encountered our fair share of less-than-stellar employees, the employees working the counter at the men's department today (11/23/13) on the first floor sent us away for a return. There was a CLUSTER of employees standing around and talking amongst themselves while the rest of store could've used their assistance elsewhere because Macy's was bustling with customers due to the holiday rush. The reason for them denying my return? They weren't authorized to accept returns on a woman's hat because it was the men's department even though I made the purchase on the first floor where they were; I picked up the hats where the Coach display was the weekend before. It wasn't the hassle of having to wait in disgustingly long lines on the second floor now that it's around Christmas time, it was the smug attitude the sales associate had when he spoke with my mother. Excuse you, but you could definitely afford to pull your weight around the store more than just STANDING around with your coworkers chit-chatting during the holidays. Other than this particular encounter, Macy's always has amazing sales with a great selection so for the store itself, I'd definitely give them 4 stars. Clean and well-lit store plus the convenient exit leading to the promenade. EDIT: Apparently I'm not the only one to notice the lack of customer service provided in the men's department. When I was in the shoe department, it was madness. Shoes were everywhere, people were everywhere, and employees were no where. It was difficult to get someone's attention and again difficult to reconnect with them when they find my shoes in the back. I went in to buy my favorite eyeliner and noticing that the next day launched a free gift set for purchases over $35, I decided to do the pre-sale and add on one more item. I asked the shopkeeper politely, "What is one of the least expensive items here?" She didn't do a good job at hiding her contempt and judgement as she pointed me to the Juicy Tubes and nail polish, after which she mumbled something to the man next to her and they both shared a chuckle. If I was being tacky, sue me. I think it is tackier to be anything less than gracious with paying customers. So I went over there and she followed me. I toyed with getting a $30 lipgloss at which she chimed in in a cautionary voice, "That's more expensive." I have a Masters Degree and can read labels, but thank you for the warning. I chose a Juicy Tube gloss and requested it. Of course, the one thing I requested was "out of stock" even though they are launching a special deal tomorrow and you KNOW the store is fully stocked. So I said "Well, can you give me one in the next closest color please." The woman said "We don't have anything similar," at which point she hesitantly pulled out a gloss that looked EXACTLY the same as the color I wanted. #Headgames. As I was checking out with her I said, "Sorry if I sound tacky requesting the cheapest thing" at which she responded, "Well, at least your nice." Ew. Ew. Ew. I guess these people are used to a different sort of clientele whom they can mumble and say rude things about. Next time I'll order online so I don't have to see their snarky faces. read more

This review is solely dedicated to Macy's makeup counters. Where do I start? Where do I want to start? Holy crap, do I even want to start? Well to save people the same gruesome experience that I had to go through, I must for take on this. Let's talk Estee Lauder, I'm not a fan, I love make up and I have tons of it, but for some reason the line and the palettes that are displayed are always somewhat lack luster and outdated to my way of thinking. To make matters worst, the women who run the Estee Lauder counters look a bit outdated themselves as well, not to be harsh, but it had to be said. Ouch. I usually only walk through that area because the mall is so damn packed and parking on that side is pretty much almost guaranteed since hardly anyone shops there. As my cousin and I walk through the aisles to get to the other side, BAM, we're assaulted. By balloons, crazy music, and old people trying to hide their wrinkles with foundation two tones too wrong. That should have been my warning there. My undoing thought was the giant promotion that they had. Free make over done, by make up artist to the stars, blah blah what's her face. Should have been my warning number 2. So as the story goes, my cousin and I agree to do it, thinking we can buy 3 tubes of lip gloss and get a free makeover. All said and done, they wipe off our expensive Chanel, plaster on concrete style clown wear, some chick with a broken arm comes to do our eyes, apparently she's the make up artist to the stars, slaps on one shade of blue eye shadow on me, then waltzes away. Next thing I know we are ordered to purchase and leave. Wait what? You don't have any of the items we asked for or which was used on our face? Wait a minute...you only have the ones that cost 100 bucks a pop? Wait what? you want us to pay now, because we're wasting your time? The lady cashed us out in the same manner as how she looked.....like a witch. Feel free to replace the W with a B if you're more inclined. My experience....don't buy make up from Macy's. Why? You get crap, pay for crap, treated like crap, and the crappiest thing? They won't let you return it or they'll lecture you to death..."if you didn't want it you shouldn't have bought it". don't get me wrong, i think the staff whom we met is friendly at least. but one thing i really got annoyed is that i think they intentionally place pricier suites(men suite) to the 'sale' racks so you tried them and decided to buy them. And you find out the price when you are actually paying for them. This was exactly what we experienced, and i made this conclusion because we saw SO MANY higher priced items(you only find out after they scanned the price tag in the system) in that 'sale' rack and the sale person put them back there after we questioned why the price are twice than the rack label. He said 'oh it must be misplaced', and he misplace it back again.... We still got the item because we liked the brand and the quality, but detest the tricks and dishonesty in order to sell pricier stuff. read more

Because they jack up their prices only to knock them down on their "sales," when in fact their sale prices are still horribly expensive. My mom was in town visiting and she needed a nice pair of sandals. She wanted to try Macys before Nordstrom. Let me tell you what a disaster that was. There was probably 3 people working shoes and about 30 women waiting just to try on shoes. I had to stand in line for 25 minutes just to get shoes to try on and then when one of the clasps was broken on the shoe I had to wait another 25 minutes (in line) to see if they had another pair. We finally just ended up taking our business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and never shop there. I can promise you the customer service ( if you even want to call it that) sucks, their prices are jacked through the roof, and it's a shit show to even finding anything. No thanks! read more

I come to this Macy's location a lot since I think the Santa Anita mall is the biggest one around me. Glendale Galleria is big but a bit further from me. I do like shopping at this Macy's but sometimes it's frustrating when they don't have my size and this Macy's seem to run out of my size either for clothes or shoes a lot. The service here is also usually pretty good too. And everything in the store is usually neat and organized...except after big sales that is. read more

However the Asian girl at the Lancôme counter is straight out rude and refuse to give a sample of a product so another Lancôme attendant had to step in and help me out with the simple request. Don't buy jewelry - bad return policy I ordered a sterling silver necklaces online and after 3 weeks of wear the clasp broke and the chain is very discolored. I went to return it to the store and was told that since I didn't buy the extended life policy (which was more than the necklace), that I wasn't able to return it. I explained that this was not good quality merchandise if the clasp is already broken, but with jewelry their policy is once it's worn it's too bad. Just wanted to let anyone thinking of buying jewelry, to think twice about buying it from Macy's. They don't stand behind the quality of their merchandise and it's disappointing that customer service is not valued there. read more
