Why rate a department store when I plan to give them a 2 star? Well, I hadn't plan on writing a review since everyone on Yelp has probably walked into one Macy's or another. But I dropped in a few days ago and overheard someone complain, and he had a great point. It seems the level of service is very inconsistent. I've been to the men's shoes dept. several times over the years, and there were times I was approached and assisted very quickly and I walked out happily w/ a few pairs of shoes. Then there was my most recent visit: no one even acknowledged most of the customers browsing for shoes. The gentleman's complaint was, "whatever happened to the great customer service when a salesperson sees you looking at shoes, he/she would come over and offer to bring out sizes or assist in picking out a style?" He walked away angry, mumbling how they really lacked any attention and service. With that in mind, I noticed a few salespeople crowded near the register discussing something rather important, too pressing to help me or any of the other customers browsing. Perhaps they're planning an escape from the dreary jobs or a coup to overthrow the executives, but it left w/ a disappointing impression. I'm a huge observer of customer service levels (as I used to manage different businesses) and this Macy's is lacking, and very inconsistent. Unlike the other dept. where we're free to browse, try items on and bring said items to the cashier, the shoe dept. relies on these salespeople to bring out the right size from the stock room. So it seems this location is a hit or miss. Can't speak for every single dept. so this is mainly on the men's dept. If you're looking for shoes, have patience in case you get the same crew I saw on my visit. From my personal experience, the best shopping you can do at any Macy's would be downtown San Francisco, at Union Square. (will review separately) read more

This is a review of the Shiseido counter. I purchased a foundation online and decided to stop by to see if the color matched. The lady at the counter did not seem particularly interested after I showed her my purchase. She fumbled through and found the color; placed it on my mom's hand that was it. I guessed she didn't want to spend any additional time because the commission she could have earned is gone anyway. Overall, I have a poor opinion of cosmetic counters at Macy's in Arcadia. Maybe they deal with too many snooty customers and it wears them down. On a plus side, I am glad someone was smart enough to move their online pick-up location to the entrance on the first floor. It didn't make sense to go up to the home department upstairs back then. Location for online pick-up need to be convenient-- like how Target puts in by their entrance. read more

Went in today and found some sweaters that I was interested in. I couldn't find any fitting rooms to try them on - they were all closed. Then I figured I'd just buy the sweaters and try them on at home but there weren't any registers open! There are literally no registers at all and the ones that ARE open have no employees ringing people up. I had to go to the shoe department to purchase my items. So inconvenient! read more

I normally don't shopped at Macy's unless there is a deal. I went on a Tuesday in Late November before Thanksgiving to pick up my online order. The online pick up used to be in the men's suits area now it got moved to men's casual side. I didn't wait to long in line to pick up my online order. It's really upsetting when you want to buy something but unfortunately you don't because The Staff just looks at you.. ignores you... and keep walking in circles. This was the case last night at around 7pm on 2/11/20 at the women perfume section. The young women with glasses saw me and my girlfriend smell testing the perfumes. She made eye contact many times and we even Greeted her but nothing. It like if she was the one shopping and I was the employee Lol ! I ended up going to the men section to smell test some colognes for myself and I was quickly helped by the gentleman there. Gave me some suggestions and I ended up purchasing a YSL cologne. What a difference! I ended up buying my girlfriend her Gucci guilty perfume at Nordstrom's instead right after. & the young lady there gave us excellent service. If I could, I would give this store 10 negative stars. I went mid May and found a beautiful Calvin Klein dress for a wedding I was going to attend last week. Low and behold, the dress was torn and it had tape holding it together. I never would have thought it would be falling apart after I put it for the first time. I was at Macy's about a week ago looking for shoes for work. I was immediately greeted by Armando the sales person in the shoe dept. As soon as walked in he was super polite and told me if I needed anything he was there to help. I was very impressed how well he engaged me since I went to almost every shoe store in the mall, from footlocker to Adidas, none of the sales person asked if I needed help. I went as far as grabbing the sneaker off the shelf, checking the price, like, I literally wanted these shoes, I circled around a few times looking for someone to acknowledge me. So I knew when Armando greeted me I was going to purchase my shoe there. He went above and beyond that day. He was so accomadating in so many ways, there were several shoes I tried on that I wasn't satisfied with but he offered different sizes and even mentioned that he can order them and it can be shipped to my home. Kelsi from the Chanel counter just skips over customers who were obviously there and waiting for longer. She automatically went to help the ladies who got there after me even though I was standing next to the lady she was helping and got there 5 minutes before the ladies she helped. Really gave me discriminatory vibes to be honest. As an Asian customer who was waiting in line first, she turned to help the Hispanic white ladies first and made me wait for the other Asian associate to be finished with her customer. I tried to do some Christmas shopping at the Arcadia Macy's and it was a horrible experience. Some genius decided to have just one check out counter for each huge floor and to add to the absurdity there was just one cashier at each counter trying to attend to the long lines. Many of the customers were very upset and I ended up leaving without purchasing my items since I had already spent 20 minutes standing in line to return an item. read more

I don't like writing a bad review for Macy's as I shop here a lot for clothes and I bought the last 3 mattress for my house at Macy's, just not this particular branch. Honestly the sales person who helped me was rude and unhelpful. The mattress in the show room are visible dirty. Macy's you need to step up your game at this store. I was hoping to buy a new mattress. I guess I'm going to keep shopping. Finish line is contracted within Macys but has the worst service ever. Return time frame is less than Macys and you can't even return the item at the Macys return counter. You have to walk to the finish line counter to return despite purchasing at Macys.com. Theyre unforgiving if its a late return, despite covid. Shopping has changed a bit during the pandemic and the finish line associate was not helpful. If you purchase shoes online that fall under finish line, purchase online versus in store. Because then you deal with customer service from macys and it is awesome versus dealing with Finish Line employees. read more

Santa Anita Mall right next to the race track where Seabiscut use to be. This Macys is a pretty large two story mall. I like everything they have to offer especially the clothes, shoes and accessories. You can find tons of items on clearance and they look super cute to wear. Sometimes when you arrive into the fitting room it is super clean and other times it looks like a tornado went through the rooms!! I really like the building and the floors are super pretty but the service and having to stand and wait in line for FOREVER is really a lack in hiring more staff. Macy's does a lot of sales and also has a variety of items to buy. You can get some towels for your home, a blender, some lounge chairs and go shopping for your kids, husband, or relatives! This is a place to come but beware that you might be in here for a long time due to limited staff!! read more

Very bad customer service. I was trying to return a dress from online. Everything was good to go I was about to get my money. Then I thought I was being nice and tried to show them that when I got the dress there was a little smudge in the bottom. The two girls started talking. We don't take online returns sorry. Maritsa who works in the women's department is the best. The gown style I wanted didn't have my size so she called 2 different Macy's store, 1 in Montebello and the other, in Montclair. Finally after a long while she was able to talk to a rep in Montebello. When I checked my phone, there were 5 missed calls (no signal) from Macy's Montebello. 5 and no messages. So, I don't know if they found 1 or not. But Maritsa said she'll try Montclair too, and again, she was on line for a bit of time. She kept apologizing which really isn't her fault. Finally, after a long wait, they found one and would put on hold until the next day. Silly me, after she hanged up, I didn't think to deliver the item to my house instead. Am thinking if I go and pick it up, would take me an hour because of traffic. So, she patiently called back Montclair and told me it's her job to please a customer which I really appreciate. I even told her to sit down and it would be on me if she gets in trouble. Lol. But nope she stood there professionally and patiently waiting for the other rep to go and grab the gown (on the other side of the store) All in all, she saved me my gas, time and day. I am surprised to see such low ratings for this Macy's. I really have never experienced horrible customer service here, including during busy holiday times (like black Friday). This is one of my mother's favorite stores because a lot of them "everyday value" petite items seem to fit her very well than some other clothing at JcPenny's and such. I never really see a ton of clothes on the floor either when I come here either (in mens and women's) that other yelpers seem to be complaining about. I also do not see shoes all over the floors in the shoe section (well unless a customer put them there because the customer wants to try on 5 or 6 different pairs of shoes at a time... but how is that Macy's fault if the customer is still trying on the shoes they asked for?). Every time I come to this Macy's, I always immediately poach off of the free wifi (not password protected), which is pretty fast as well (oh and of course check in too). I don't really shop at Macy's too often when I am by myself. It's not that I do not like Macy's but sometimes I can just find the same type of clothes cheaper at JcPenny's or at another store in the Westfield Mall. Like I mentioned earlier, I have never experienced bad customer service. When I wanted to return items in the past, as long as I had my receipt (which I always keep in a file because I like to stay organized), I was able to receive a full refund on the item I was returning. (However, I did hear that a lot of brides have had bad customer service when trying to return items off of their wedding registry after the wedding, which was the main reason why I decided not to have a registry with Macy's). Now a lot of times when I do purchase something at Macy's or if my mother does, I or we have to wait in a long line to pay for our items. There is this one particular cashier who works at the register in the petite section and she's a much older woman who moves a bit slow, which therefore increases everyone else's wait time. But she really is a sweet person, so I don't mind waiting. Also, if you are shopping at a department store or at the mall, it should be a given that there would be a line that you will most likely have to wait (unless you come shop right when the store is opened or come closer to closing time). Overall, love that there is free wifi offered here that is actually pretty fast and have pretty much had a good shopping experience every time I have been here. This Macy's is pretty nice, I could find things easily, and directions were readily available on each floor. It's amazing to me that many department stores do not provide directions and/or directories for their sale floors, which seems like poor business sense; if a customer is disoriented in your store, and is not given a frame of reference with which to follow and realign themselves to where they want, or need, to go, it seems unlikely they will continue on in the establishment, and make purchases. I prefer shopping in-person, as opposed to online, because fit is an issue as a shorter person. The way a brick and mortar retailer handles itself is important. I will come here again,when I need clothes again, and enjoy the experience! read more

Need to return a sweater to the Macy's store in my City in CA which I bought at Macy's BackStage store while visiting in Las Vegas recently. This was my First Time shopping at Backstage. I was told I can't return to this Macy's because they don't have BackStage Dept in this Store. The nearest Macy's Backstage store was about 10-15 miles away. I do not understand the rationales. Since Backstage is a part of Macy's, however, Backstage Dept are also very limited in Macy's stores. if Backstage items can not be returned at Macy's store, why should customers shop at Backstage ? And why did Macy's bother to spend money and resources to open such departments in Some Macy's? I have no clue! We all know if customers not happy with Stores return policy, the chances are they won't come back to shop. No sales equal NO money. May be Macy's could learn from Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I don't shop here much but my bf does. I would come here maybe for some accessories or buying someone a gift. They have better selections of men's clothing and shoes. I don't do much shopping here. Not my style nor do they usually have my size. They do have reasonable prices compared to saks and nordstorm. The brands here are not high end, so they can't expect to throw outrages prices. Service is a hit or a miss. This place would better during the holidays when they have crazy sales and stay open late. I normally have to pass through Macys since the parking lot is located right outside into the mall. I don't usually stop to shop around.. Tip: Come here for reasonable prices, less wait, and a quick in and out shopping. read more

I purchased 20 gift card $100 each from the store before Christmas. I work at Healthcare, this is the gift to all hard workers for a very special Christmas and New Year I could buy it at any other store, but I choose to go to the store to purchase. Then my nightmare starts, total 4 of the gift card I purchased from store has NO MONEY in it, I went to store 3 times try to solve my problem. First time with 2 problem cards, luckily the lady Mrs. Cruz she is the one help me with my purchase, she recognized me, help me reloaded one of the card, then week after, I got 2 problem gift card returned back to me, so I went back to store try to find help again. Thus is Mrs Cruz is off, another lady asked help from floor manager Bryon, but he couldn't solve my problem, so I left total 3 fraud gift card to him together with my phone number. 2 weeks later, now, I still haven't heard anything from him, and calling the store with extention need he gave me, that never ever someone will answer the phone, you couldn't even leave a message. Problem still unsolved. DO I HAVE TO GO BACK TO STORE EVERY SUNDAY WHEN I AM OFF TILL I GET HELPED FROM SOMEONE?! The department manager for jewelry department Jasmen is professional, wonderful listener, sharp, elegant and a gem for Macy's. I went to customer service because I wanted to exchange a shoe and the shoe department manager was not exchanging despite the fact that he could see the shoe in the system but he said the time line has passed. The shoe was never worn with tags and due to the Covid i did mot have a chance to return it. Kudos to the sales person Justin such a gentle supportive wonderful sales rep and thanks to Jasmen I was able to exchange the shoe and leave Macy's very pleased! read more

We always try to be the easiest customers possible especially on a night like Thanksgiving. We know it can both be frustrating for both the customer and the employees. However, our recent experience was inexcusable. We did not know we needed to line up somewhere specific to pay for shoes. When we lined up the first time, we were declined and told to go downstairs to pay. We lined up downstairs and the lady told us we had to pay specifically at the shoe department because they get paid on commission. My sister asked politely why it was that wat just to understand how their system works and so we'd know better next time. The lady said the same thing, they work on commission. My sister asked why they didn't let us know right away or why they didn't have signs posted so those who aren't aware would have an easier time navigating through the stores. The lady sarcastically replied "You don't shop often at Macy's? You've never been here before?". I think that was uncalled for. She could've addressed it very differently but she chose to be that person. I work in customer service and I know when someone's just being unreasonable. Monsieur means a woman like Jeanette of the men's suit department at Macy's. Monsieur came to buy an everyday action suit. Standard fashion advice for muscular body types is to avoids slim-fits. Monsieur was about to pick out a loose fitting suit when Jeanette approached to offer assistance. She found a pair of Calvin Klein slim-fit pants that showed off a man's meaty thighs and buttocks without looking too gross. Jeanette was very patient and suggested Monsieur try on multiple sizes and styles. Her trained eyes were analyzing not just how the suits looked at the moment, but how they would look after alterations. Boys, never pick a suit on your own because what you see in the mirror is affected by male-ego distortion. Ask an unbiased woman -- one who knows her shit -- for opinion. Monsieur is highly appreciative of Jeanette's expert fashion advice and is asking that Macy's triple her pay effective yesterday. Monsieur would also like to thank Macy's for the great sale price on that suit, but finds it strange why pretty much every apparel is on sale every day of the year. read more

I am always frustrated every time I come to this Macy's. I am a platinum customer and it's seems like they'd provide some kind of special treatment for platinum customers. But every single time I shop here, the wait at the register is exorbitant. I cannot tell you how many times I've put stuff back and walked out because of the wait. Couldn't explain to me, why am I being charged 2 different prices on 2 different phones, same product, same zip code, at the same point of the order process.
