Get the Greek salad with chicken! It's very delicious and the chicken is (what appears to be) an actual chicken breast sliced up. Usually when you get chicken with salad it's a $15 slab of frozen chicken which makes you regret your life choices. Macs makes me a believer in the price you pay to add chicken. This is the worst example of price gouging I've ever seen at a Cincinnati restaurant. My buddy and I visited this past Friday, he lives near Mac's so he ordered us a few of the apps to have while we hung out. He ordered the Soft pretzels and the potato skins. For $11.99 you get two pretzel twists, that the average person would eat in 2-3 bites and a cup of cheese that looks like it was burned in the microwave. For context, I had gone to the Rookwood Pub (much nicer place) two nights before and got the exact same app for $8.50 - but it came with 5 or 6 pretzels, real beer cheese and a nice brown mustard. Seeing those pretzels come out and know they were $12 instantly put me in a bad mood. The potato skins weren't much better - I think it was $11 for 5 small potato skins. Altogether it was $23 for two pretzel sticks, 5 potato skins, a cup of sour cream and a small cup of microwave cheese. The sum cost of those ingredients for the business is probably less than $1 - a 2,300% markup is criminal. Truly the biggest rip off from a restaurant I've ever experienced. I will never choose to go to another Mac's in my life and I will scream from the rooftops what a bunch of criminals the owners of this business are. It's been over 11 years since I've been here and now I'm back with my Mr. since we live nearby. Plus I was wanting to try a new pizza joint so here we are. I forgot how good this place is. They have everything a pub grub would have to offer. Appetizers, Wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches and of course PIZZA! They have their specialty pizzas or you can build your own. They come in three sizes. Additional cost for toppings and also offer gluten free crust. Drink menu is huge especially their craft beer section! Love that they also have a good wine and cocktail as well. We ordered a medium 12 inch build your own pizza. Toppings: mushrooms, ground beef and banana peppers. Their crust is hand tossed. We also ordered 6 Spicy Garlic Wings. Drinks, I got an Malbec to pair with my pizza and my Mr, a pint of leinenkugel's summer shandy We got our order pretty quick and I was truly impressed with the pizza! Crust was crunchy and love dipping it with the garlic butter sauce (I had to ask for it on the side, can you believe it's vegan?!) the wings made my Mr extra happy. Yeah, my lady and I are definitely pizza fans. How could anyone not be? Especially with so many good pizza spots around. Personally I'd have to add this to the list of must-try places. Classic pub-style pizza made great! My lady and I live nearby and have been wanting to try this place for a bit. Finally, on a Saturday afternoon, we did and definitely enjoyed it. The place itself is pretty big with lots of seating, both inside and outside on the patios. Wanna watch the game? There are plenty of big screen TVs around. Their beer selection is quite impressive. They also have a nice wine selection and full bar. Their menu is loaded with lots of classic pub grub options. I had to start with some spicy garlic wings and a pint of Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. My lady ordered a glass of malbec. We both enjoyed the wings. They had just the right amount of spicy kick, LOTS of garlic, and they were pretty big. As for our pizza, we ordered a 12" with ground beef, mushrooms, and banana peppers (our go-to create your own combo) along with a side of garlic sauce (yeah, we love garlic. No wonder vampires never visit us.). The pizza was VERY delicious. Even the crust was good enough that it didn't need any sauce. We stopped at Mac's which is overpriced and rarely has anything but mediocre service. Their food can be good... but you have to get to the point where they you want to wait on you. 6/4/2023 It's convenient so we stopped for a draft (hopefully two) at the bar around 5:45 PM on a Sunday afternoon . The bar person was Lizzie. The bar was occupied but not busy. We got our beer after a wait. Lizzie at that point started talking to her girlfriend who was sitting next to us at the bar. For the next 25 minutes they talked about what Lizzie was going to order for supper. She ignored us and then made a production of having to cash out. We were going in with the intention of having supper and enjoying a couple of cold ones. Probably would have spent $60-$70 that night. Someone might say, ask for the manager? Why? Extremely disappointed at the fact that Macs is no longer letting in non-students. It feels very exclusionary and rude. We had friends from out of town come in for a 21st birthday and were excited to get drinks altogether. They were denied for not being students, yet we looked around and saw plenty of older adults and even underaged people inside. This is a ridiculous rule that feels targeted towards people who cant afford to go to pursue a higher education. I hope to see change soon. read more

If you do not heed my warning and go here, do not let your eyes wander around the room - food stains on blinds, cobwebs above the door that have been there for five years. Everything feels sticky. Gross. We visited last weekend and we were sweating in the dining room. It must have been in the low to mid 80's. How have I driven past this place so many times and never stopped?! Won't happen again! Found a Half Price Cincy deal so it was a great excuse to try a place we've never been before. I was concerned about the parking but it's not an issues at all. There is plenty of seating and masks are enforced. I'm not a beer drinker but hubby is and they have a pretty decent beer selection. The food is CRAZY good!! On my first visit I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and swore I would never order anything else. Until my 2nd visit when I got the pesto primavera pizza. Mac's Pizza Pub is tops in my book for pizza and beers. They have something for everyone, and the atmosphere has always reminded me of a place that would be in Yellow Springs. I've yet to have a bad meal there. Once I asked the waitress if I could make the nachos into tot-chos and she happily obliged. They have a nice deck to sit outside when the weather is pleasant. I ordered the tree hugger vegan pizza during my most recent visit, and it was super tasty! The French fry pie and Chicago-gyros were previous favorites. Not in the mood for pizza? Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for pizza, wings and beer. The place was almost empty with about 5 cars in the parking lot. We got a table quickly and our waitress was fast with the drink and appetizer orders. The spicy garlic wings are very spicy so keep that in mind if you order. They are absolutely delicious though. They were able to accommodate a half and half pizza which is nice when you're eating with people who don't have a taste for the same things. Our half flying pig and half spinach and goat cheese pizza was baked well done which is my favorite! It had a nice crisp but still maintained some chewiness at the same time. The medium sized pizza had 8 slices which was great for a nice and filling early dinner for two people plus some for lunch the next day depending on your appetite. We wanted to try a new pizza place and after checking out good Yelp reviews, we chose Mack's. This was for take out so I called ahead to order a 12" pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and sausage. They forgot the pepperoni and there were a few tiny pieces of mushroom. But the Italian sausage was super flavorful! Not much provolone cheese, so if we order again I guess we need to request extra cheese. It was good, but they really need to step up their game on the toppings and cheese. read more

Mac's serves up consistently great pizza, beers, and a great neighborhood environment. Some of the specialty pizzas are really amazing and unique to Macs. The Philly Cheesesteak with beer cheese sauce is great. The gyro pizza is an award winner. Pro Tip: The $4 Mac Snac is the best mini pizza you've ever had. Splitting one as an appetizer when you want a taste of pizza but not a whole meal of pizza is a great alternative. Try all the apps, the sandwiches are great. Great tv's in the bar area. The staff is super friendly. They have a good loyalty/points program. Free popcorn too! I really just can't think of anything negative to say about Mac's. read more

This place is surprisingly popular. At 6 pm on a Friday it was hopping already, with families and friends from nearby Mariemont presumably. The odd parking lot behind the building was already full, but the businesses across the street apparently have no issue with letting people park there. A closed auto service garage accommodated us. Inside it's a rambling layout in what was once a house. I only saw the downstairs dining area and bar, which hold maybe 80 seats total in fairly close quarters. Big screens show sportballs at every turn, as you would expect from a place calling itself a pizza pub. The beer list is pretty good for such a place, about 15 on tap and 50 more in bottles and cans. A cask aged English bitter was on tap, and the lower alcohol was appreciated for someone who was driving. Food is the usual bar fare, but done well. A gyro pizza approximated the classic Greek sandwich nicely, with gyro meat, Kalamata olives (much appreciated, since I really despise canned black olives) and tzatziki sauce. Fried mushrooms were breaded and very crunchy. Even the side salad that DLW had was decent. Prices are okay for the quality. Service was nice and friendly despite the crowd. There are other locations for this business, but this seems like the most family friendly, unlike the one near UC. Just plan on parking elsewhere. read more

I do overall this Mac's location. It's not without its nitpicks here and there..parking is a bit odd, if it's busy you feel like you are literally parking in the woods..also they are the only Mac's location that doesn't serve one of my all time favorite hot burgers, the "inferno burger"..which I find a bit odd..but anywho everything else here is pretty good. My favorite thing on their menu is their Mac-Over. It's basically a pizza burrito wrapped up and deep fried. It's a bit like a calzone but not quite, the deep frying changes the flavoring of things inside of it for the better. This past visit here was on a rainy late Friday afternoon. It seemed as if the storms had brought down some major tree branches within their wooded parking lot and back deck. It was a mess and the majority of the staff was outside trying to remedy the situation. It really didn't affect our dining experience as we were seated and waited on right away when we entered. We started out with some mozzarella sticks, they came out quick and were very good. Just the right mixture of breading a gooey mozzarella cheese, the marinara on the side complimented them quite nicely. I ordered a Mac-Over with pepperoni, sausage, & bacon. It was pretty good overall. I feel like possibly the bacon was a little under cooked, but it didn't affect my overall enjoyment of this fantastic dish. Our waitress was pretty good for the most part. She was around a bunch when we first ordered right up until when she served us our meals, but then she disappeared. We waited patiently for a good 10-15 minutes after being completely done with our meal with no sign of her. We finally flagged down another waitress to see if she could find our waitress to give us our check. This lady then went on to tell us that our waitress had a medical emergency and had to be rushed to the hospital. I KNOW right?!? Kind of crazy. We felt bad but then we looked over and saw our waitress walking around. About a minute later she came back to our table and gave us our check. No explanation of anything. Very strange. There was a problem with their credit card machine so it took another 10 or so minutes for us to pay and get out of there. Now, we weren't in any kind of hurry so it didn't really bother us..but still in the end we didn't get out of there for a full half hour after we had finished eating. Crazy.. But I will still give this place four stars and absolutely recommend it to others if for no other reason than the Mac-Over. It's a unique food creation and definitely worth a try. read more

Mac's Pizza Pub has a new location woo! The beloved college bar location is an institution. I was very happy to see them expand. When I came here after a night of drinking I was thinking the same type of place. This restaurant/bar feels more upscale. Maybe because it's new? The restaurant is super clean and tidy and decked out with tons of memorabilia and hot sauces!! I ordered the waffle fry pizza, (YES you heard me right) beer cheese base with waffle fries, onions, the works. Its delicious and this time was no different. Came out super hot and cheesy and was the perfect end to the night. The service was also incredible. We had a table of 16 and our waitress was handling us all herself. And our pizza took no longer than 15 minutes. She was busting stuff out of the kitchen like crazy and was very cheerful and attentive. If you're a fan of Mac's you'll love this place. read more

Any restaurant /bar staff who can put up with a group of rowdy, overly-exuberant and pretty obnoxious drunken men whilst keeping smiles on their faces is going to get five stars from me. I mean, the ladies who served our party deserved a medal, or at least a fat tip - which they got. One of our guys was hovering around the bar talking about "partying" and buying people rounds of drinks. When his bill came and he refused to pay, the bartenders were patient and understanding (probably because myself and another friend were not drunk and able to apologize (repeatedly) and take care of the situation eventually without things getting out of control. The bill was paid, the food was excellent (I will never be able to get over the beer cheese waffle fry pizza) and they have angry orchard, my absolute fave. So thank you to both our waitress and the bar staff, for your excellent service even amidst such ridiculousness. Next time we return we'll try to be less annoying. We can't make any promises about that, but we can promise to tip well and keep enjoying this amazing restaurant. Thanks Mac for opening one here, by the way!!!! read more

My first experience was very positive. Went on a Monday Night during Bengals football season. This is a loud sports bar. Do not attempt if you have a simmering headache or a desire to talk to your dinner companions. Knowing that it is a sports bar, it does not disappoint in the major areas: food, drinks, and television. There are ample amounts of all of these. The place was packed, but we found our friends who had arrived earlier and procured some tables. The waitress was very good; she brought the wrong beer at first but was quick to return with the correct order. Even with the overcrowding, she was attentive without being pushy. The pizza, a medium sized French Fry Pie, was not only delicious, but gigantic. My date and I split it and we still had leftovers. The ingredients include Homemade Mt. Carmel Beer Cheese Base, seasoned waffle fries, red onions, tomatoes, provolone, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Finished with a sour cream drizzle. This sucker was amazeballs. We almost didn't make it in at all. The parking was completely full and we traveled over into the nearby neighborhood, a maze of cul-de-sacs, one way streets, and suburban SUVs. It is a testament to the place's popularity, but I think I will attempt a second visit on an off-peak night. read more

A few months ago the Wooster Tavern on Wooster Pike transformed into the second location of Mac's Pizza Pub. I went the Wooster Tavern a lot as an early twenty-something but haven't been back in many years. The second I walked through the door, over this past weekend, it was like I never left. The layout of the building is completely the same. There is a bar area to the right as you walk in the main door on the side of the building. To the left is a small dining area and then around the corner from there is the stairwell to the upper level with even more seating, a shuffleboard table, and another small bar. There are TV's in every corner of the building and then some. My parents joined us for dinner and my dad was really impressed by the number and quality of TV's on their walls. We will definitely have to remember that when searching for somewhere to catch a game. Plus they have a really great beer selection. I was able to finally try Mt. Carmel's Third Shift Imperial Coffee Stout. Wonderful! For dinner we all agreed to split two medium (12) pizzas. It was the perfect amount of pizza for the four of us plus our young child. Speaking of which, every single table in the place seemed to have at least one child with them, so it's a very family friendly place. The first pizza I tried was the Mac's Supreme ($14.49 for 12). This was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and black olives before being topped with plenty of mozzarella and provolone cheese. It was basically a pretty standard supreme pizza but I really enjoyed their rather chewy hand tossed crust. The sauce was also full of flavor. Our other pizza was the Hawaiian Heaven ($14.49 for 12). This one was topped with pineapple, ham, bacon, and a dusting of cinnamon with the same cheese blend as before. I've had the Hawaiian pizza many times before, but I don't recall ever having it with cinnamon. My parents were skeptical of this at first, but we all seemed to really enjoy the addition. It added a little extra spice to the already sweet pizza. This pie typically comes served with roasted almond slices as well, but we had them removed as I am allergic to almonds. With an excellent selection of beer, great quality pizza, and TV's on every corner, I think we may have found a new favorite spot. read more

Wanted to try this place based on a Facebook post rating the 15 best pizza places in Ohio. This intrigued me because any place in Cincinnati that has that good of pizza I wanted to try. The service was average, actually slow. The pizza I know is not in the top 10 for Cincinnati which is in Ohio. Adriaticos pizza, Trottas pizza, to name two in Cincinnati that are better. I am glad I tried it. Will try again but very disappointed. Pizza looks good with lots of cheese. But not much flavor and the crust is OK could be better. So I give them a pass for the first time. Packed to the gill for Monday night with the Bengals. The parking lot was completely full. Had to venture into the surrounding cul-de-sac laden 'hood for parking, then jaywalk across a busy street in the rain to find a no-seat available bar and restaurant. Not that I'm complaining, Mac's is obviously a popular spot. Luckily some friends had commandeered some seats with good sight-lines to the nearest TV. Service was on top of it despite the crowd. We were greeted by the host, found our company, and upon settling in we had someone to wait on us within a few minutes. Our waitress was attentive but not bothersome and seemed to have an excellent sense of timing, arriving right when we needed her. My date and I split a medium sized Fry Pizza that featured cheesy sauce and waffle-fry goodness. It was more than enough for the two of us, but I'm also not a big eater. Chased the thing with a small glass of high ABV Thundersnow. It seemed to get better after it breathed. Mac's is a good place, just not really my first choice for anything.
