Super good drinks, tasty food, and great bar! Interior is really cute and the servers are nice :) gets pretty busy, so can be a little cramped, but worth the wait if you ask me! They also have a outdoor parklet! read more

Vibe inside is cute, but the music is a little loud for my preference. My friends and I ordered the chicken tenders, mozzarella bites, Caesar salad, lobster Mac & cheese. Chicken tenders + the lobster Mac & cheese were my favorites. The chicken was good quality and the Mac & cheese came with good chunks of lobster! read more

4/5 now but I know as I try more and more stuff this will easily become a 5/5. Great place to stop with some friends or a date for a cocktail! We got a table outside (make sure to wait for the host to seat you!) and had overall fairly quick service. There's a great ambiance inside and out, but the only thing i wish they had was some speakers so the music could be heard outside. Now onto the drinks: our group was excited to get the Ki Ki Ki Kiwi but unfortunately since the Kiwi's are out of season, they no longer make them. Will have to wait till next time! For this time though, we got the bunny poison, the threesomes with the jonas brothers, and the huckleberry mule. We loved all of our drinks! The jonas is essentially a margarita but it was amazing, plus if you like mezcal, you'll love the hint you get there. The bunny poison was great and had the freshest cucumber inside the cocktail. Can't wait to come back and try their evolving menu and maybe some bites too. read more

WOW. Had high expectations for this place but was sorely let down. While the vibes were good and the music was fun, the drinks and food left a hungry feeling in my stomach and nasty taste in my mouth. I started by ordering the Huckleberry mule. I am a big fan of Moscow Mules, and thought this would be similar, but the angostura (or ginger? Not sure) was so strong that it made my throat burn and was nauseating. Our server was nice and swapped it out for a lemon drop, which was mediocre (and only had sugar on 1/8 of the rim... what?) but was still better than the first drink. I ordered the chicken tenders thinking they looked delicious in all of the yelp pictures, and I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in something so simple in my life. They had ZERO flavor and I am not sure how you mess up ranch and honey mustard. But they FOUND. A. WAY. The ranch tasted like dill water and the honey mustard was literally horseradish spice. I felt like my eyebrows were going to burn off. It was traumatizing. Sorry Macondray, I will not be back. read more

Just back from perfect late afternoon/early evening drinks and eats at Macondray. Brussell Sprouts were the best I've had in years, and cornbread with butter and syrup was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the burgers, parmesan chicken sandwich, and salad. While the chips were too salty, the fries were yummy. Unfortunately, lobster was sold out. The service was excellent, the vibe welcoming, and the playlist eclectic and enjoyable; we will return often! read more

Nice place for casual drinks and bites on a Friday night! We ordered the oysters, mozerella bites, and lobster bites; along with beer and cider. They were good; your average American food, but not exceptional enough for 5 stars. The outdoor seating was a bit small (maybe cus the oyster platter took up all the space) and it was freezing outside, but not a deal breaker. Overall, my friends and I enjoyed ourselve. read more

This place is super cute and cozy, perfect to get a drink and grab some food. The staff is so welcoming and the service was great. I was catching up with a friend and we didn't feel rushed at all. The server also had great recommendations and was very friendly. We ordered the bro job and margaritas and loved them. For food, we shared fries and each got a burger and it was perfect. Would definitely come back! read more

Stopped in for a quick drink and bite to eat while strolling around the area, and now I'm obsessed! The Macondray has wonderful ambience, even during Covid times. The outdoor dining and indoor dining were equally as enticing. The interior is meticulously decorated and has a beautiful bar. I ordered the spicy margarita, and it was perfect! Not overly spicy, and the perfect blend of flavors. We also got fries, which I 100% recommend. They have a unique Malt Vinegar powder that gives a nice flavor. They were crispy and golden, the perfect snack to go with your cocktail. This bar is perfect for a happy hour or a casual evening out. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying out more cocktails! read more

I've been wanting to try Macondray out for a little bit. The past few times I have walked past it, it has been packed. I luckily was able to get a spot for myself before the dinner rush! So glad I finally was able to try out this new cocktail bar. Each table outside is spaced efficiently and comes with hand sanitizer for you to use. Since there was no wait, I had my pick at whichever table I would like. Additionally, they do wipe down the tables after each customer. Macondray makes for the perfect happy hour spot or wind-down spot after having dinner. They specialize in numerous cocktails and they have wine and beer. In terms of actual food, there options are limited but they have more than most bars do! I ended up ordering a bourbon drink that had "Spooky" in the name. Clearly Halloween themed, which I appreciated. The drink came with the white of an egg mixed in. This drink was phenomenal! I seriously would come back for this drink alone. For food, I went with the Maine Lobster Roll. This came with home-made potato chips. The roll was stuffed with delicious lobster. Each bite was like heaven. I couldn't get enough of it. Now that I know what Macondray has to offer, it will definitely be my go-to Happy Hour spot in the neighborhood! read more

I ordered the chicken tenders and they were AWFUL. The chicken was dry and the coating was rock hard. The honey mustard was bad, too. It had way too much mustard. I do NOT recommend. read more

The drinks and food at this place were pretty good, especially their all an allusion drink. Wine was decent too and they had cool glasses. We sat outside so not sure if service was especially slower because of that but everytime we wanted to order something basically had to flag someone down multiple times and same for paying our bill etc. Maybe this is different if you're seated inside. read more

Loved the vibe here! The staff is personable and music was on point. Their version of an espresso martini is so yummy. We also ordered raw oysters which were super fresh (6 for $16). We'll definitely be coming here back again if we're in the area. Great place for small bites and drinks with friends. Highly recommend! read more

This spot is so cute!! I love all the plants and design. My roommate and I sat at the bar and loved the hospitality from the bartenders. Great bar and super fun service. The vibes there are chill and has a neighborhood atmosphere. Had a few different cocktails and some were great/balanced and some fell a bit flat. The food is really good and works well with the cocktails as elevated bar food at a good price. read more

I don't doubt that the drinks here are good.. but i had, and i mean this, likely the worst chicken wings if ever had. They were so spicy that after a couple bites, i struggled to speak. I even itched my eye after and they burned. This dinner was such a bummer that i literally ended my night. I was supposed to go to a friends birthday but my mouth was burning. Also, fries were super average. All for 70$. No thanks read more

Love the decor here. It's a fun tropical vibe. All of the staff were polite and friendly. The drinks are decent, but what I love most is the variety! What we ordered: 1. Hummingbird heart beat: this is a tart and refreshing drink. Drink it fast because it waters down with ice pretty quickly. 2. Watermelon ice tea: the whiskey flavor is super strong. It's more of a slushy than the other drink. 3. Fries: these are thick crinkle cut fries. It's not my personal preference, but I also like to list out the type of fries in case you love this style! read more

Went here on a Monday night for the oyster special and some drinks. Got seated quickly and was so pleased with the inside decor and the vibes! Servers were pleasant and attentive and the drinks were great! Drinks were not too strong, but very tasty and fresh (I had Bunny poison my partner had a vodka cran). I had 6 oysters and they were tasty, however the shucking job was not the best... a bit shelly. We also ordered the pier fries and they were so tasty!!!! Variety of vegetarian options on the menu: 5/5 Cleanliness and social distancing practices: 5/5 Fantastic bar and bites! Macondray has been on our list for a while, and we were really excited when they opened again. While they have nice parklets, we got a seat indoors and everything was clean, well spaced, and beautifully decorated. The staff are so friendly and happy to chat! And on top of that, incredible food and drinks. I loved the variety of cocktails they had (from seltzers, to "spiked juices", slushies, and thicker/heavier drinks) Macondray's cocktail menu keeps you on your toes. The All and Allusion seltzer puts White Claw and the 100+ other seltzers out there to shame. And their FOOD! The pretzel was fantastic, unlike anything else I've had before - the bread was flaky and soft. Anyway, just go here if you want a guaranteed good time. read more

Good drinks. Decent food. Nice service, to a point. On my Birthday, the matrei de kicked us off of our table because we paid our bill 10 mins earlier and were still sitting. We were seeing empty tables. Needless to say, I will not be returning. You shouldn't spend your money here either. And we spent over $100 with them. I want to stress that there were empty tables at the bar/restaurant. read more

Polk street trendy bar alert! And DAMN it's about time the north end of Polk got a fun, clean, vibey bar. Macondray replaces the old Bullit (rip to my guest bartending fundraising days) and has been completely gutted and revamped. Think Palm House meets Del Mar meets Dorian - all the Marina vibes. The new look is fresh - lots of greenery and plants - and packs a big punch in terms of vibes. When I stopped in on a Wednesday evening, this place was packed full. Every table was full, every server running around to customers, and lots of alcohol being poured. We only wanted drinks - ended up ordering the hard seltzer (w/ basil, blood orange, and grapefruit - basically a fancy white claw), a glass of Sauvignon blanc (basic bitch over here), and a craft whiskey cocktail (can't remember the name tbh). Everyone enjoyed their libations and it seemed everyone else in the restaurant was sipping the kool aid as well. By far MY FAVORITE part about this bar is the music they play. It's subtle in the background but I was grooving on it the entire time I was there. Props to the behind the scenes dj because I am all about the feels you are putting down! This bar is going to stay busy as polk street needed this type of establishment. All the Russian hill 20 somethings will be flocking here for cocktails. I can't wait to see the vibe on a weekend late night. Grab your girl group and grab that table at Macrondray - you won't regret it! read more

Loved the decor. Food was fine. People who own it are nice, fun, hardworking...and it's New England themed!

My friend and I tucked into Macondray for a quick nosh and a glass of wine after a very demanding work day. Neither of us had heard of it, but found it was nearby and open on a Saturday afternoon. We sat in the window. It was thankfully peaceful and quiet! The atmosphere was relaxing. Nice space. Lovely server. The Sauvignon Blanc was a nice one. Our shared bites were great: a delicious vegetarian moussaka and a composed salad of peppers, olives, tomatoes, slivered red onion and cucumber. Perfectly balanced dressing. The peppers were Anaheim peppers and extremely hot. I love spicy, but these were raw and much hotter than I can even tolerate. I told our server that they were surprisingly hot, and in a fun way. She immediately said she would pass my feedback to the chef. That noted, I would happily re-visit this restaurant and recommend it with a caveat about the peppers! read more

I live nearby and have been coming here all the time for a while. I think Macondray is fantastic. Today I brought a friend who had never been and he ordered a beer that wasn't on the menu from a server who seemed to be new. She wore large framed glasses and wasn't very friendly. She essentially refused to serve my group after getting angry with my friend for asking for a blue moon, which Macondray does not have. It was a honest mistake, but the server ignored us to the point where I had to ask the cool busser/bar back to close us out so we could go somewhere else. read more

I will start with the atmosphere, if anyone has been in this location before it was macondray (when it was bullit) they will be blown away by the change. A dim lit intimate atmosphere, mellow upbeat music. It's the perfect place for a date night, or small meetup for drinks with friends. Lots of small tables and seating area, they really did a wonderful job bringing in a mellow casual feel. The staff was on top of it. Our server was helpful when I asked for advice on the menu, able to explain the drink/ food that I had questions about, as well as steer me in the direction of exactly what I was looking for. The food and drinks came out in a timely fashion. Overall the server was great! Now for the best part; the food. WOW! I grew up on the east coast so Maine lobster was an easy way to peek my interest. Needless to say more, the lobster roll was perfect in every way; super fresh, perfectly moist, the bun was toasted to perfection. We also had the malt vinegar fries, which seem like they have quickly become a staple here. Something so simple and different, yet so tasty! Overall- I had an amazing experience all around, and will definitely be back. Cheers! read more

I'd say this place is a solid 3.8. Let's just start with the food. The oysters are yummy. The drinks are good. The Macondray "burger" is $13.75. It is essentially a large slider. Completely ridiculous; I wasn't sure if I had accidentally ordered a slider, but feel free to peruse the photos here on Yelp. The grilled onions were great, and the pickles were delicious, but it was $13.75 for one slider. I'm still baffled. The service was great, the staff was super friendly and helpful. And the ambiance is chill. They have TVs if you want to watch sports, an outdoor area if you want to enjoy sunshine on a nice day, and seating in the back that's good for groups. But $13.75 for the burger. I'm not sure what the other people who recommended the burger are thinking; have they not tried In-N-Out...? read more

We went to Macondray for the first time on a Saturday for a late lunch around 3pm. Overall, based on our experience here, we likely won't return or recommend to others. Pros: - Great decor with lots of plants - Seated quickly Cons: - Paper menus were dirty with stains and food crumbs - Service was mixed. Similar to other reviews, we had 3 servers. Our first one just left their shift and we weren't informed of another server as we waited 15 min for someone to greet and take our order. During the meal, we ordered an extra side of ketchup that was forgotten. Also, our bill needed to be corrected as we were overcharged for an item. - The peach salad had thick chunks of fresh peaches, whole raisins, and pistachios with minimal dressing. Could've been much more enjoyable had all the components been thoughtfully chopped and put together. - The salty/malt vinegar fries felt like a frozen pack and unfortunately the seasoning wasn't even. - Lobster roll was small for the price in our opinion - Small bug was found in peach salad.* *The restaurant offered a fresh one for free to remedy the issue - which was appreciated - and didn't charge us. read more

I've been coming here since moving to SF back in August. Bootsy is one of the best bartenders in the city both in quality of drinks and the conversations he has (when it's not super busy). The owners put their money where their mouth is and man the door, run drinks out, make drinks, bar back, you name it. Food is exceptional (absolutely recommend the oysters if available, burger and steamed mussels). Their funky drink menu rotates, but manages to always land. If you're into the classics, they make a mean Manhattan and Gin Martini. The aesthetic is great for a first date, catching up with a friend or solo drinks after work. The place is always packed and for good reason. Keep 'em coming! read more

Causal cocktail bar with several small plates (mostly seafood, yum!). I had their blood orange version of a French 75 and one called "Simply the best" made with gin/kumquat/tarragon. Both were delicious and beautiful to look at. We also had a half dozen Drakes oysters that were really fresh and served with a traditional mignonette. Not too crowded on Friday night around 8pm, fairly attentive service. The only complaint I have is that it smelled like cigarette smoke inside even though we didn't see anyone outside. I hate leaving a place with my clothes smelling! read more
