Went in for a quick dinner. I don't stop here often, but the food is generally good. They weren't very busy as it was a weeknight. The atmosphere is pretty cool inside. I like the outdoor/rustic feel. We were sat, and the waitress came over to get our order. We started wit the Apple Chicken Flatbread. It was delicious, great flavors and the crunch of the flatbread was a great texture combination. I ordered from the restaurant week menu which included French Onion Soup, Dill chicken Sandwich and a Cookie skillet. The french onion Soup was pretty standard, broth, a few onions and bread and cheese. The dill sandwich was good, marinated in Dill pickle juice and with fresh dill on top, it was wonderful. The fries were amazing. Battered fries had a great crunch and soft and creamy center. The warm cookie was a great sweet treat to end the night! Overall a good experience. Service was good. Menu needs to be revamped if it's a pub. The issue was the flies that would be attempting to land on our plates and drinks every couple of minutes. The atmosphere of this establishment is fantastic and has a rustic look. Found it to be clean and the service provided by Nikki was great. They play a nicely selection of music, a little to please everyone. They also have an open area to sit outdoors. A plus is that on the booths and bar area have outlets so that you may charge your phone and/or other devices. The food was a bit/miss. The "Grizzly Burger" and fries was good while the appetizer "Apple and Chicken Flatbread" was less desirable. You will see the picture from after. The flatbread was too crunchy or tasted like a cracker and the "goat cheese" didn't taste like goat cheese. What gave it the taste was the BBQ sauce. Unfortunately the service here is just as bad as their other locations. Which really sucks because their food is great. We ordered quite a bit of food. One of the appetizers was the poutine. We ordered it with the egg. A food runner brought it out and there was no egg. When we saw the server we told him that it was supposed to have an egg and he said, "oh yeah my bad I'll bring you an egg to put on it." So we made him take it back and bring it back the right way. He also left our glasses empty often. He walked away from us a few times while we were talking. We ordered pizza and only ate a slice, because we were full from everything else. So instead of bringing pizza boxes, he brought small containers. On a brighter note, the food was delicious as always. This place is a dining catfish (imo). The restaurant wasn't very busy, it was clean, would make a fun place to hangout with friends/colleagues or a dinner before a movie date night spot. Buuuut, once you get seated and view the menu, this place is Applebees in a wig. The only difference is Applebees food would have been served hot, taste better, and priced adequately. The waitress was horrible and if I can find my receipt, I'll include her name. Maybe her slow service is why my food was cold. The place was not busy and they didn't appear to be understaffed, but I don't know for sure. Stopped in for dinner. There was four of us. Mackenzie was pretty busy. Told us our wait would be 20 to 25 minutes. We could not go to the bar to order a drink while we waited. We were told the bar area was also managed by the wait list. There were quite a lot of open seats at the bar. Not much seating in the waiting area. Overheard one of the hostess tell a customer that their wait was 20 to 30 minutes. When they started to walk out, she explained that she is required to say that, but the wait was actually like 5 to 10. Sure enough, we waited little more than 5 minutes. Menu is an upscale pub type menu offering different starters, soup, salad, burgers, paninis, pasta, flatbreads, pizzas and desserts. I ordered their Beet Salad to start and the Bleu Onion BBQ Burger. Both came out at the same time with all the other meals. My beet salad was disappointing. Since "beet" was in the name, I thought it would be the major ingredient in the salad. Their menu described the salad as braised beets, arugula, goat cheese and candied walnuts. Salad should be named their walnut & arugula salad. The salad was mainly arugula with, at least, a quarter cup of walnuts. As for the beets, there were six, small chunks. For the goat cheese, there were a few more chunks. It tasted okay with their orange balsamic vinaigrette, but is nothing like the item's picture. The salad tasted fine, just really didn't do it's menu description justice. The Bleu Onion BBQ burger came with french fries. Someone got pretty heavy with the salt on the french fries. Couldn't eat them. Requested this 1/2 pound burger to be cooked medium, but the burger was rather dry. I'd recommend their burgers for medium rare. The burger was topped with melted bleu cheese crumbles and a lot of fried straw like onions. Cannot say I recall tasting any bourbon barbecue sauce on the burger. Burger itself tasted good. Server was friendly, personable and helpful with the menu options. She was pretty busy, however, with the table next to us. They ordered a lot of drinks and some food. It was hard for us to get our water glasses filled when they ran empty. Their menu has so much potential with the variety and great food combinations. However, Mackenzie could do much better on pulling it all together and making a better, consistent dining experience. read more

All I have to say is I definitely won't be going back. Not a good first impression. We ordered the cowboy nachos, they had hardly no cheese on them or toppings. It's like paying $13 for a bag of tortillas. The bbq chicken pizza was not good either, I ate 1 peice and didn't even finish the peice, it was so dry. My husband asked and lifted the cheese, is there any bbq sauce on it. My chicken panini, the chicken tasted like frozen chicken strips, the chicken was chewy and not appetizing. I've done take out as well as dine-in here. I definitely prefer the dine in! This time I did take out and had the chicken bites and steak / blue cheese bites! My total was about $25 even. I probably won't order the chicken again, it wasn't very tasty. The steak and blue cheese bites are my fave but they were a little well done for my liking. They are usually on the medium side, which I love. Next time I will specify how I would like the steak.The service is always great. They have a large parking lot so it's easy to find spaces. The restaurant is also always clean. I definitely recommend dining in here! They also have a tasty cookie dessert! read more

as soon as walking in .. the host was dirty looking and frankly not friendly at all. We get seated... Cody the waiter was all off point. I understand off days... but this was ridiculous. I ordered the fish and chips. I didn't even finish my meal the fish was burnt... I can't believe it was aloud to leave the kitchen. the drink I ordered was something huckleberry and tequila... over poured in the booze so it made it dreadful . This is my second visit since they opened. My first visit was very good. Unfortunately, there is a difference due to the pandemic. Wait staff was short handed but were friendly. Orders took a while but the the biggest disappointment was the food. I had the skewer fish taco - which was good but had no seasonings! It was supposed to have ancho Chili's in it- but I tasted nothing. My husband got a rueben snd it was not hot and the cheese wasn't melted. The salsa with the chips was like watered down tomatoes! Wings were buffalo style but not too hot and very tasty. With the hummus plate you get soft pita triangles, Kalomata olives and feta cheese with some cucumber slices. We had the ol'prospector cooked medium well and fries along with the smokehouse burger cooked medium Everything was hot and cooked at ordered. But let me.tell you something about their drinks..lol! I learned about the smoked old fashion from their restaurant Taste different than a regular old fashion just from the smoke and priced right... they also have this drink called the Absolut Mess that reminds you of a Ciroc party. It was served in a martini glass but I could only take 2 sips because it was soooo strong ... had to pass that one off to my dude for him to finish‍.. they also have this pear cider beer that's the perfect palate cleanser. My husband and I love Mackenzie River, and we frequent the Polaris location a lot. We were thrilled when we found out they were opening this new Pickerington location, since it would definitely be closer and more convenient for us. However it appears they are still working out some food quality kinks, so I'm only able to give them 3 stars for now. The inside was nice and clean, and all of the staff was nice too. However, the food just didn't really live up to that of the Polaris location. My husband and I always order Rise N Shine burgers. The 2 elements that really tie this burger together are the bacon and the over easy egg. If one of those is off, you can really taste the difference. Our food came out really fast, but the eggs on our burgers were visibly cooked completely through. The yolk was solid. So upon seeing this right away, I let our server know. She was kind of overwhelmed and confused by what I was telling her, so I suggested that they just make 2 new eggs and bring them out and we'd switch them (which is what most places do). She obliged and brought them out after a few minutes. This definitely helped the burger, but it still just wasn't quite as good as usual. I know it can be hard getting into your groove and getting that level of food consistency when you're newly opened, so I'll be back in a few months to give this location another shot and see if they've improved their game! read more

I would give it 3.5 stars. Everything was fine, just not amazing. They did have a gluten free menu, which is appreciated, but as a vegetarian who is gluten free it can be tough. I got the pesto pasta without prusciutto, I asked for extra tomatos, and when the bill came I was charged for tomatoes! I did bring that up to the waitress and she fixed it, but my sister in law told me the last time she went they had to send an undercooked burger back and they were charged for an extra burger! That time too it was fixed, but be sure to check your bill before you pay. My sister in law this time got the fish tacos, which were massive, they use big tortillas, so the taco was mostly tortilla, but she said they tasted fine. Fine is what I would call the whole thing, not awful, but maybe not someplace I would go out of my way to visit. Although I would maybe come back to try the gluten free pizza, maybe. read more

We decided to check Mackenzie's out on Veteran's Day. I really like the outside design of the building and the inside decor! It has a nice rustic feel. We were greeted by two super friendly hosts and then seated at a booth. I love the booths! They're large and spacious! Our daughter was given a little container of goldfish with her kids menu and activity page. That was nice! The hubby and I were pretty hungry so we decided to order the fried pickles as an appetizer. These were some great fried pickles! I'm usually not a fan of fried pickles that are made with pickle spears as they usually fall apart with each bite, but these were cooked to perfection! They were crunchy, hot, and the breading did not fall off with each bite. They were amazing! The dipping sauce was served with scallions and was great as well. For meals, our daughter had the chicken tenders with fries. The kids meals come with an extra side of fruit, salad, or veggies which I think is awesome! Her chicken tenders were pretty good for restaurant chicken tenders. My husband ordered the Reuben. He wasn't a fan. He referenced it as a "poor man's sandwich" as it was thin and lacked any real substance. I ordered the Smokehouse burger with fries! The burger was very tasty. I ordered it medium rare, but think it was served well done. The flavors of the gouda cheese and pulled pork paired really well with the burger. I ordered my bacon on the side as I'm not a big bacon fan, but I'm sure the flavor of the bacon would have really complimented the other toppings as well. The sandwich is not served with any sauce on top. I would suggest BBQ sauce. I asked for mayo, but think BBQ sauce would have been a better choice due to the pulled pork. The fries were hot and crispy, but extremely salty. It was so unbearable that I could not finish them. There are plenty of TVs throughout the restaurant for entertainment. Our waitress Michelle was absolutely amazing! She was very attentive and kept up with refills and etc. I don't know if they always give a veteran discount, but we did get 25% off since it was Veteran's Day so it wouldn't hurt to ask if you're a veteran! read more

We ended up coming here since we wanted to try it out after Max and Ermas has departed. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. Our waitress was super nice and very helpful at navigating the menu. Adrienne settled on the gingerbread martini (this took about ten minutes to come out since they couldn't find the correct alcohol - our food came out before the drink did). We ended up getting the flatbread for free since we signed up for the points club, this made the meal tolerable since the crust on the bottom of the flatbread was rock hard. The toppings were mixed nicely and had good flavor so we just scraped off the top and ate it. The poutine was the best thing in the meal - the gravy was spot on and it was covered in cheese curd! The most shocking thing was the five small deep fried pickle spears for $7. $7! I can deal with some pricy food for the quality but these weren't it. Most likely would come i here for happy hour and dessert but will be passing on the food. read more

I've since moved out of Pickerington, but when my girlfriend and I were in the area after hiking a couple weeks ago we decided to try this place out as it opened right after I moved. The outside looks really cool with the gray paneling and the patio looks like it would be good to sit on during a warm night. The service was also friendly and quick, neither of us went long without a refill. That being said, the food wasn't anything to write home about. We ordered the chicken spring rolls as an appetizer and while they were hot (really hot!) there wasn't much flavor to them and it seemed like an odd combination to have bacon and avocado with chicken in a spring roll. We also ordered a barbecue chicken pizza after seeing a pizza on another table looked good. The crust was very bland and chewy while the pizza itself had very little flavor. We added a lot of crushed red pepper and Parmesan cheese and it was only after that the pizza had a semblance of taste. We also got a basket of fries, which were the best part as they were warm and had a nice seasoning. All in all, we were disappointed and the price tag was very high for what we ordered. Decent happy hour... however 2 times I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken full size to go. I didn't look at my order the first time. It was ridiculously small for a full-size , hardly any chicken. It was for someone else in our household. She was disappointed.... Could have gotten a better salad at Wendy's for half the price. Next time I ordered I looked at the salad before leaving. This time it was better , a little more chicken but still not worth it. Better off getting a burger for same price. It's mostly greens. Never ordering salad from there again. Lesson learned. Our experience was going to be bad, I felt it as soon as we opened the doors and stood there for 5 mins before we seated ourselves at the bar, which was limited because the bar top was full of dirty dishes. The bartender appeared to have been coming off a busy dinner crowd that probably left feeling as disappointed as we did. After about 10 mins, (the bartender doing I'm not sure what) finally got to us to order our drinks and appetizers. Looking around I was getting annoyed because no one was getting served like they should and there was literally 3 people working and none of them were really hustling, except food back to the kitchen. None of them were helping each other and no one was cleaning anything and persons shift must have been over because she just finished up her side work and left. The food was terrible. I kept it simple with a burger, the lettuce served with my burger was enough to make me completely lose my appetite. My partners entree was completely flavorless. He even added salt, he never adds salt.) We would have asked to speak to the manager but we found out that she was also the cook, and we didn't want anyone else's already slow service to be any worse so we paid our bill and left. After spending nearly $90, we were still very much hungry but chalked it up to our bad dinner and just went home. This place needs help in the worst way. read more

A friend of ours recommended that we try this place on our next dine-in, and we followed that recommendation. We stopped in on a Monday afternoon for an early dinner, and much like the Canadian theme that it attempts to channel...there weren't very many people around in such a big restaurant! The problem is that if you didn't know that the Mackenzie River is in Canada, you wouldn't know this is supposed to be a Canadian-style restaurant. Other than a few outdoor decorations mounted to the walls, this restaurant had all the personality of a brown paper sack. Our server, while efficient at ensuring that our drinks were kept filled, seemed a little lackadaisical and his demeanor and seemed to be the only one working the floor. He seemed very rush to get our order in, allowing us little time to peruse the disjointed menu, before we chimed in that this was our first visit to the establishment. In short, our experience was very forgettable. We started with the artichoke dip that was bland, texture-less and was greatly outnumbered by a giant dish of blue corn chips. My wife went with the Baja Fish tacos, I went with the Kodiak burger. Some 25 or so minutes later, we got our food, which was sad given how empty the restaurant was. My wife was not only fanatical about the tacos, citing the lack of seasoning, but overall unimpressed with the flavor and the wateriness coming from the tacos. The salsa served with the chips was very liquidy, and again did not balance with the amount of chips given. The burger was juicy and flavorful, but was it enough to save the meal? Not really. We closed the meal with the skillet cookie and ice cream and it was very "meh." We often find in restaurants that claim to do it all - from pasta to pizza to burgers to tacos - that they rarely do any of it well! It seems that theory held true today. Would we go back? We have checked out this spot on multiple occasions and I truly feel you get a good bang for your buck. The burgers are really good, and while over seasoned at times the flatbreads also are very unique and hit the spot. Biggest complaint is the service. It's not bad, it's just strange. The two servers we've had (over 4 visits) are just somewhat dull, and being down the overall experience as they seem miserable.... again they don't really loose quality or speed of service just some seem to be happy to be there. Has made for many awkward moments - LETS SEE SOME SMILES! But all in all, this is a great concept with REALLY great decor and environment. Good food / fair prices. read more

This review is NOT concerning the food. The food is great, but all meals are served with a "side of headache" from the deafening "music." When asked if they could turn it down, we were told that it was controlled by Corporate and nothing could be done. That seems ridiculous. We had to shout at each other in order to hear and understand what the other person was saying. Perhaps their goal is for tables to turn over quickly. I don't know, but we and our friends will not return until this problem is remedied. read more
