That first time, I ate there for dinner with my wife and we enjoyed it well enough. I vaguely remembered it as being a dark-ish pub type place with televisions and high booths. It was still that yesterday. I got there a few minutes after they opened at 11:00am. I had looked at their website before going and decided upon the Fish 'n' Chips combo. From the BoB's website: Fish 'N' Chips Combo Delicious beer-battered cod fillets fried to a golden brown, served with tartar sauce and fresh lemon. This combo also came with fries, cole slaw, and I added a drink. The waitress was very friendly and brought my drink out quickly. My Diet Coke tasted more like soda water than soda so I asked her for a replacement. She said she would get it from the bar this time and see if it was any better. She did and it was. My fish 'n' chips came out quickly and was quite hot (as cooked food will be). Lunch came in a plastic flat dish with a checkered sheet of paper lining the bottom. All told, there were 3 pieces of fish - each slightly smaller than a deck of playing cards, a goodly portion of medium cut fries, a small cup of cole slaw, a small cup of tartar sauce, and a wedge of lemon. I ate a couple of fries as is before I added ketchup. Nice and crispy, hot, and fluffy on the inside. Good enough to eat sans ketchup but I really like ketchup. It made them better. It also soaked through the paper lining so I ended up scraping all of the food off of it into the dish and throwing away the paper. No need to add bits of soggy paper to my lunch. I next tried the cole slaw and I was disappointed. It was room temperature which is puzzling, plus, it tasted...off. Not food poisoning off, just...weird. I added pepper to it and it did not improve. I set it aside and started on the fish. The fish was very good. Nice and crunchy batter, extremely flaky fish inside, and had an excellent fresh flavor. I really enjoyed it. I sampled the tartar sauce and like the cole slaw, it was room temperature. To me, both cole slaw and tartar sauce should be cold. The tartar sauce had an OK flavor. Nothing memorable. The wedge of lemon I ignored. I finished my lunch and it was filling. I did not have room for dessert even though I was eyeballing the cheesecake on the menu. I also did not need a refill on my Diet Coke. The combo was priced at $13.99 and the drink was $3.19. Overall, a decent lunch with the fish being the star. Excellent waitress, good service, quick turnaround time. I may or may not return.

Went were sitting near the entrance but all 4 bar tenders were only serving the opposite end of the bar. Another couple that sat before us hadn't had any service yet either. Not even a greeting. 25 min was my limit. I'm fine waiting for good food and drinks but I like to be acknowledged. The live-ish music was decent, hence the one star.

My husband ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, no seasoning on the chicken and it was dry, the salad was under dressed - he barely touched it. How the heck do you screw up Caesar salad? I went with 5 Bourbon Barrel wings and 5 Spicy Garlic, both bone-in. The Bourbon Barrel wings leaned sweet with a light bourbon note. Flavor was decent, but they were pretty light on sauce and didn't have much crisp for being fried -- honestly, they almost tasted baked. The wings also weren't very tender, and I had to work a bit to get the meat off the bone. And yes, I know some people would say "just get boneless," but I'm a bone-in guy -- the bone adds flavor, and boneless wings are usually more breading than chicken anyway. The Spicy Garlic had a nice kick and solid flavor, but unfortunately had the same texture issues as the Bourbon Barrel wings -- not crispy and not very tender. I also ordered blue cheese and celery. It was fine, but nothing special. The blue cheese flavor was pretty muted and didn't have that bold, tangy punch I usually look for. On the plus side, the steak fries were cooked correctly and did their job. One highlight was their Mardi Gras menu. We tried the beignets with bourbon maple glaze, and those were a pleasant surprise. They came out piping hot, dusted with powdered sugar, and while they're not a traditional beignet, the flavor was really good and easily the most memorable part of the meal. So was the experience great? I'd say it was good. The food was fine, serviceable, but not especially memorable. Would I come back? Probably -- just maybe not for the wings next time. But, let me add.
