Ordered dinner through Door Dash. No issues with the delivery. Husband had the Hummus plate. Said it was good. I ordered the Mackenzie Pasta. It had good flavor. Not enough broccoli though. But two big complaints. First, DO NOT OVER COOK YOUR PASTA. The pasta was so overcooked, it was mush. Second, of course it was to go. Good deal. No. Excellent deal. It was pretty filling. I couldn't finish it. What was nice was you could get it cooked the way you wanted it, which now a days hardly happens. What was nicer is it actually came out the way we wanted it medium rare. That was very nice. Fries came with the burger. Ours were cold, so Christa brought us a fresh batch. They were the batter covered fries. Pretty good! Apparently they have a reward program. So if you are thinking of going download that first. We dont often do reward programs so we passed, but it seemed like if you were to frequent this restaurant it would be worth doing. Three stars mainly due to fries being served cold. Even second batch was a bit cold. Burger was very good, but not extraordinary. Still solid. A bit too thick for my liking but that is totally personal preference. I have gotten the Chicken Alfredo before but when I went in April 16th it was so bad. There was no Alfredo sauce except a small amount on the bottom. I think the pasta was cooked a little less then al dente it was dry. Never again will I get that! They make great chicken tortilla, and French onion soup. My friend got the prospect burger. I was jealous of that because my meal was bad! They have good food just don't get the chicken Alfredo! Oh and they charged $2.50 just to get some sauce on it!! I imagine this place uses the cheapest ingredients they can on all of their dishes (at least that was my opinion on the 4 items we ordered). Lastly, Tuscan Pasta, very dry and a little too spicey for my wife, but that's just personal preference. The worst part was the bread stick with the meal. It was as hard as a rock and I wouldn't have fed it to my dog. I don't typically bother staff with food corrections, especially in this case where I quickly realized that this is just how this restaurant operates. The best course of action is to warn others not to waste their money and stop at the many other places nearby. Staff was ok, but seemed slightly annoyed with our request to move away from the window seat due to the temperature. When he tried it he looked as if he was going to puke, so I jokingly asked what's wrong with this. He explained that it tasted as if they didn't seasoning it and the chicken he had was burn, it had char marks and also had no flavoring. He laughed because the only thing he liked was the breadstick, he said oh look something with flavor. This coming from the guy who always finishes his food and never complains. Informed the same waiter that this also takes bad and she then took it and walked away saying nothing. When she returned she informed us that the penne pasta has been removed from the bill. Think this was my first experience eating Mackenzie River food. I ordered on their website for pickup for my parents and self. One small Cobb Salad w/ ranch and two Caesar Salads w/ "grilled chicken" ($5 up-charge per Caesar salad). I walk in to pick up our order, and one of the young gals said they tried calling but got the voice mail: She said they couldn't make our Caesar salads because "you can't get chicken with them (even though we checked the box to add it), but they could make it and add it for $7 more PER SALAD. Funny, cause my mom already paid for the added protein, so...? That gal had walked away to add the chicken to our bill, so I went and found another waitress, stopped and asked her, and she knew our order; she explained that the $5 chicken is cold chicken, if I wanted freshly grilled, that'd be $2 difference more for each Caesar. Didn't want to pay another $4, so my mom left it at cold chicken. I never did hear how the Caesar Salads turned out. Felling kind of mislead, when I got home and pulled out my Cobb, I was expecting some half-ass excuse for a shitty conglomeration of a Cobb, but was really happily surprised: packed into a nice sturdy small circular plastic container (the lid was attached), all the toppings where visibly present and an excellent quantity-to-price ratio. I dumped it out into a larger bowl, cut up the fresh lettuce with some handy scissors, tossed in their ranch dressing I got to accompany, and altogether, it was a great Cobb salad! The cold grilled chicken chunks were even soft and juicy, usually not the case when it come to chain restaurants that use up the leftover chicken from the nite before in their salad station. Anyway, apologies for the long review, but I was happy with my takeout salad, especially for it being quite full inside the restaurant when I got there to pick up my order. I was pretty impressed with my first visit to MacKenzie River. I loved the inside which had a nice, updated feel to it and the staff was doing a good job mixing practicality with all the covid measures in place. Our waiter was a little quiet, but polite and got our orders right to accommodate us making a few slight changes to our meals. I ordered the Kodiak which is a two patty burger which comes with a side fries. The burger was fantastic and the fries were some of the best I ever had. My wife got Pulled Pork Nachos and thought it was the best plate of nachos she'd ever had. We finished it off with their version of a "Pizookie," a warm cookie pie with ice cream, and this was just as good as our main course. Simply put, the food was high, high quality and the menu has so many delicious looking items to choose from. I also found the bill to be surprisingly cheap. I think it's a great bang for your buck and was the icing on the proverbial cake for our night. The only complaint I have is the food and dessert each took a longer than usual time to come out, so plan accordingly, but it's well worth the wait. Went in for a quick dinner. I don't stop here often, but the food is generally good. They weren't very busy as it was a weeknight. The atmosphere is pretty cool inside. I like the outdoor/rustic feel. We were sat, and the waitress came over to get our order. We started wit the Apple Chicken Flatbread. It was delicious, great flavors and the crunch of the flatbread was a great texture combination. I ordered from the restaurant week menu which included French Onion Soup, Dill chicken Sandwich and a Cookie skillet. The french onion Soup was pretty standard, broth, a few onions and bread and cheese. The dill sandwich was good, marinated in Dill pickle juice and with fresh dill on top, it was wonderful. The fries were amazing. Battered fries had a great crunch and soft and creamy center. The warm cookie was a great sweet treat to end the night! Overall a good experience.
