Arroz con Mariscos

Los Andes who? I believe this place has better food than Los Andes but people are sold on the ambiance of Los Andes. It is a lot prettier there but the food here is FAR better. I have never been disappointed by the flavor. I used to always order the bistec al pobre until one day I tried their arroz de mariscos and have never looked back since then. There is a piece of seafood in every bite, the flavors are amazing, and it's not a portion you finish in one sitting unless you're really hungry. The yellow sauce that comes with every meal is insanely delicious and creamy (but it sucks that extra bags cost $0.75). My only complaint is that it is tough to get a hold of them over the phone and they do not have mobile ordering to my knowledge. If they implement other forms of receiving orders, I think it would make many customers happy.

Chaufa Especial

I went here for lunch with some people from work. On this day, there was parking available right outside the restaurant, but with limited street parking near the restaurant and no parking lot, you may have to walk a little. Don't let this deter you however as the food was worth a little walk. The place is small and unassuming with only a few tables to sit at and the decor is simple. We started with the Palta Rellena which is an avocado stuffed with a chicken salad type of mix topped with a hard boiled egg. It was simple but tasty. We also had their calamari (Chicharron de Calamari) with a tarter style sauce with scallion instead of pickle and the Ceviche Mixto which had calamari, fish, shrimp and potatoes. The calamari was fried well but typical. The Ceviche was every bit as good as others I've had and didn't skimp on the contents. If I had to nit pick, I would have liked a little less onion. For my entree I had the Chaufa Especial. It was simply a fried rice with steak, chicken, shrimp and egg. The portion was large and nicely cooked and seasoned. For my taste I'd like a little more kick, but nothing a little hot sauce couldn't help with. I asked for a side of fried plantains with it and they were fried perfectly and complimented the Chaufa nicely. You can't help but want to compare this restaurant with Los Andes. In my opinion, the food is very comparable and having had similar dishes at both, neither really stands out more than the other. Los Andes is larger and more of the hip place to be offering more selections in a fancier manner, but as Peruvian food goes, I wouldn't overlook Machu Picchu and I would definitely go back to try some different options.

I did not like this restaurant very much, the bathroom is very small and without paper to dry hands, one comes out with wet hands, a Peruvian restaurant that does not have bread is not Peruvian, the prices are high and it is not in a place to collect those Prices and food is not good enough to charge as well, sorry I do not recommend it and I will never go there again.

1/2 Pollo a la Brasa

Great little spot for pollo a la brasa. Not sure if they are takeout only nowadays but they don't have many tables to sit down at either way. I have ever only gotten the chicken which is outstanding. A half rotisserie chicken with a side is around $13 which is prob one of the best values providence has to offer. They can only make so many every day so get there/call early if you want to try it. I was only able to give 4 stars though because it is often very difficult to order from them. It seems like they only have one phone line because the line is consistently busy and they don't have a website that you can order from directly. I have had to wait a decent amount of time longer then their quoted pickup times as well. Those two minor issues aside, it is def worth trying their chicken.

Ordered takeout here and we were very happy! Got the lomo saltado a la pobre and it was great. Pickup was ready in 30 minutes. Will have to try more menu items in the future.

The story of my visit here is definitely a fish out of water tale. my companion and i were yelping and couldn't find some place to go in that in between lunch and dinner time frame. after going back and forth for a while, we choose this place by the great reviews & that we enjoy the peruvian restaurants back home in NY. so we plug the address into the gps and head on our way. it is a cute little place and was pretty empty. we got our menus and when the waitress came over, it was clear that us speaking only english was going to be a problem for her. however, this was going to be great for us. my theory on restaurants is that the less that the waitstaff speaks english, the more authentic it is. after having someone from the only other table of patrons help us communicate with our waitress, we ordered and not far after got our food. it was fantastic. we ordered the garlic shrimp and Lomo Saltado (which i only know the name of because the reviewer below me described it). we also got an order of sweet plantains, which wasn't on the menu but i'm glad we asked for it because i could eat them all day long. overall, this was a great meal and we both left full and happy. i don't know if the language barrier is an all the time thing, but that doesn't really matter to me. the waitress was really nice and what came to us on our plates was delicious.

I had never been here before, but I'm in the Boston and Providence area for work this week and met…read moreup with friends here tonight. One of my friends used to live in the area and said this place was good. All the food was very delicious. I had one of the steak dishes and for some reason it was a little bit spicy to me, but it was still very good, and it came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. One friend had the Lomo Saltado, which I tried and it was very good, and another had one of the other steak dishes, topped with a fried egg, and said it was great. He also can't have dairy and explained that to the waiter, who was very good at making sure nothing was cooked in butter for him. I wasn't going to get a drink, but my friends were drinking so I ended up getting the Pisco Sour, which was great. My friends said this restaurant used to be a lot smaller and then they expanded a few years ago, as well. I think there is street parking but I didn't want to have to find it, so I did valet - it's five dollars (plus tip) and they add it onto your bill. For some reason it ended up being $9.06 for our two cars, which I don't understand, but whatever lol. The only tiny nitpicky thing I have to say about this place is that the service was a bit slow. The waiter did check on us quite a bit, but the place was packed so I understand having slow service, it took a while to get our food. That being said everything was fantastic so I would definitely come back here when in the area.

Food: 6/10, service: 2/10, overall: 5/10…read more I'm in RI alone on this trip, and today being my last day in town, I decided to pop in for dinner over here. Got here right after 5pm, so luckily there was no wait, and as a party of 1, I got seated right away. And that's where things went downhill. My server, Joe I think his name was, he came by with the menu and took my order. But, that's all he did - he didn't bother telling me anything about any specials, or what the items contained besides what was written on the menu. Unfortunately, this was especially jarring, because the table behind me (which was seated after I was) had a different server, who actually told them the dinner specials and explained the food items to those diners for a good 10+ minutes, after asking them if they'd been here before and them telling him that it was their first time at Los Andes. And my experience? Completely the opposite, because not only was I not asked if I'd been to Los Andes before, but no mention was made of any daily specials or any other things besides asking me what I wanted. In fact, I wasn't even aware that there were any specials at all, until the server of the table behind me was explaining the specials to them! Now, I've been at lots of places for food, both upscale and otherwise, and mostly have had to go in alone during the course of my work trips, so I'm not a stranger to dining alone. But here, the way I was treated, as if being alone meant that I wouldn't order much food, and therefore needed to be hurried away ASAP, that didn't sit right with me. Now, to be objective in my review, the food is good. I tried the empanada which was average (the crust was dry but the filling was good), but the anticuchos appetizer was really phenomenal, and the salmon entree was good (could've been better in my opinion, but wasn't bad at all, and the salmon wasn't too dry, but the best part of the entree was the rice). And to end my meal (with lackluster service), I tried the flan, which unfortunately was equally lackluster. It wasn't too sweet, so that's good if you're not a fan of overly sweet desserts, but I didn't get the caramel taste beyond a very thin veneer on top, and the whipped cream on the side was a very disappointing accompaniment. Not only is that a shame, but it's also more a shame that the service, or lack thereof, lets this place down, especially if you're by yourself or have a smaller party.

They specialize in ceviche, poke bowls, pisco and sushi! I give 5 stars for service, cleanliness and taste . Highly recommend the outside dining with the fire pits. I have never tried Peruvian food or pisco alcohol. This was my first time, and I will definitely go back in the future. The food quality was very good and extremely healthy, the drinks are very strong and tasty. To me, this is considered fine dining, so make sure your pockets come prepared, Because once you taste one pisco you're going to want another! Highly recommend if you like a not to busy atmosphere. The menu had some great choices but no prices. Not a big deal, as they are new and will probably be adding them eventually. I ordered the El Caprichoso Salad with grilled chicken breast and 3 beef empanadas. They said it would be about 20 minutes. It did take about 35 minutes, so I'm the future, I will order ahead of time. Everything is made from scratch and cooked to order so the extended time is understandable. The El Caprichoso salad was very good but...it came with yellow rice and not brown and there was no avocado. I didn't open it until I got to my parents house so I did not go back. I would definitely order it again but ensure that I check it before leaving. The beef empanadas were hand made with massa. They were so different than the empanadas that I have had in the past but I absolutely loved them. Before cashing out, they let me know they make desserts. Flan, Tres Leches, etc. I would definitely go back and maybe sit and eat there. There are only a few tables so I assume that they will get more once things start to get busier. Very fresh food, very good service. I'd recommend checking this place out if the menu interests you!
