Not only was he prompt and efficient in replying quotation questions, he is flexible with the time for me to drop off the desktop and pick it up afterwards. His workspace at his house is clean and full of great equipments for servicing and repair; I am already convinced we are in good hands! I brought in a 2008 iMac with GPU issues. To my understanding of the detailed summary of the service, he refurbished the GPU, replaced the thermal paste, and diagnosed it to be overheated. Alex is amazing! He's a friendly guy and responsive through email. I had to get my MacBook Air battery changed because it's old and luckily, he had one in stock. I emailed him and he was flexible with time and clearly communicated. He works from his home so just a heads up that you're going to a house. His workspace is awesome, it's cool to look at. He works pretty fast; he literally changed my laptop battery in 10 minutes and we spent like 4-5 minutes filling out paperwork and doing payment. It was easy and quick. He provides efficient and great service. He takes cash or credit (with credit there is a small fee). I would recommend going to Alex to get your Mac stuff repaired! My laptop needed to be fixed after a water spill. The keyboard and battery got fixed by them. Upon using the laptop, it shutting down randomly even after fully charging the battery. I had briefly contacted them regarding this issue and they refused to give me a refund. It didn't have this issue prior to getting it fixed. They just told me to contact Apple and see if they can fix it with warranty. Although Apple couldn't fix it under a warranty, they still refused to give me a refund. They told me they could fix it as long as I buy the logic board, but at this point replacing the logic board would not even be a good idea as I have already spent over $500 for this repair just to receive a laptop that isn't even working properly. It would be best for me to just receive a refund from this "repair" and just buy a new laptop but they didn't want to do that. I have even sent them videos of when the laptop was shutting off randomly and they still refused to give me a refund. read more

This is the kinda review you hope to never have to write...but you're damn glad it's a 5 star experience when you do... After a little spillage on the ye ole 2010 MacBook Pro laptop, I reached out to Alex who promptly replied with a quote ($49...which is waived if you engage their services) and a link to make an immediate appt. Swung by his Willow Glen-ish house the next day...and some people may balk at this type set up but I actually prefer it as 1) you're not paying for a physical storefront's overhead expenses 2) it's a more personal experience...which features a garage shop/office, and we all know the good things that have come out of house garages in these neck of the woods...cool toys! Alex was very thorough in his explanation of how he'd diagnose & associated costs but also painting a 'worst case scenario' so no surprises...and in this instance, I hate surprises! All in $275 flat fee which replaced by keyboard & refurbed my logic board...plus he even threw in a new hard drive, what a dude!! MacFixed turned it around in 24hrs and communication was pro-active & prompt. Cash is king here...but cards are accepted too with a slight fee. Excellent experience getting my MacBook Air 2017 repaired. It had the well known bad riser problem on the SSD causing the internal SSD connection to fail and had been repaired once at a shop in Riverside, CA. The same flashing folder problem came up again two months later and this time, I contacted MacFixed in San Jose, CA through Yelp! I received a Yelp! message the next day saying to make an appointment on their web site which I did for later the same day. I got a confirmation call a short time later. I arrived at the address on time and Renee came right out. Dropped off the MacBook after a quick cover of the service agreement. I got a call an hour later from Alex confirming the SSD riser defect and he said he would do a better repair job than before. I picked up the computer the next day allowing some time for the adhesive to set. Again, Renee came right out and we were done within a minute. I'm hoping this repair lasts. My hard drive took a nose dive and completely rendered my iMac unusable. I found MacFixed, which happened to be near my house and super convenient. Their website was super easy to schedule dropoff and pickups. With COVID, they handle everything "no contact". They gave we regular updates and was very easy to get ahold of. They weren't able to recover the data from the hard drive and unfortunately had to send it to DriveSavers, but in the meantime, they worked quickly to install a brand new SSD for me and get us up and running again. I had a hard drive fail in my iMac just before Labor Day and called Mobile Mac Techs to help me out. Alex listened to my situation, and said he could provide a drive or I could, but recommended that I purchase an SSD drive from Fry's to save me some money and he would put it in. I brought the computer and drive to him, and despite being just before a holiday, he installed the drive with not a scratch or even fingerprint on the display. Two thumbs up for Alex. I had a iMac (late-2009) that I thought had a bad hard drive, so I went ahead and swapped the disk it shipped with to a 1TB SSD drive and tried installing the OS, but no joy. The screen was still showing artifacts was missing portions of windows and was essentially useless. Crestfallen, I thought not only will have a $2k (depreciated, of course) paperweight, but i'd just wasted 3 hundo on the new hard drive. So, I spun up Yelp and found Alex's shop and was convinced by all the positive reviews on the page. We exchanged a few emails, made an appointment for me to bring in the computer and in less than 24 hours I got the computer back. He even went so far as to install High Sierra for me (even before I asked him to do so) as part of his testing process. I'd highly recommend him for any of your Mac-related computer repairs. Professional, fast and super fair on the labor fees. MacFixed did a great job fixing my wife's top-of-the-line Macbook Air (2018 model but still really pricey). Screen was completely cracked in half but computer was still useable. Even though he didn't have the part on hand, he got it quickly from his supplier and although costly replacement (25% of the original cost), laptop was quickly fixed in less than 3 days - now that's great service and the laptop feels like it's brand new again! Don't be alarmed when you search for his business, he works out of his house, which probably helps with pricing. I did a few different estimates (thanks Yelp!) and his price fell a little above the median, but I think that's for the best. Thanks again Alex! read more

Brought my damaged MacBook Pro in to Alex. He quoted me $350 to recover the data on the drive, and said do a diagnostic for $49 to look at whether the computer was repairable. He said if it wasn't and I didn't want the Mac back, he'd trade me the data recovery for the machine and that he would sell the screen to someone with a broken screen. Fine so far. Several days later he told me the machine wasn't salvageable but that he wanted $500 for the data recovery and to keep my Mac. He complained that the drive was full of data! When I objected he reduced the fee to $350 but said I needed to bring him the power cord. Goes to show that you can't always trust someone with five stars on Yelp. I'm embarrassed to say he got $350, my Mac, and the cord from me. At the very least he's greedy and inconsistent, at worst the Mac was repairable and he committed fraud. read more

This review is WAY overdue! Alex has saved my ass not once, not twice, but THREE times. 1) I took my MacBook Pro to Alex a little over 2 years ago to fix a cracked screen and a worn out battery. He gave me a quote through yelp within an hour and said I could stop by within the hour. I had my laptop fixed and ready for pick up that same afternoon! 2) I had a problem starting up my system and he let me drop in and was able to fix the problem on spot, free of charge. 3) My laptop kept issuing a kernel panic and would force me into a loop of logging in because it froze mid-install for the new OS download. Just my luck - right in the middle of midterms week. Dropped off my laptop yesterday at 4 PM and Alex had it ready for pick up by noon today. I came back from an international trip to discover that the display on my Mac Book Pro (which was only a couple years old) wasn't working. :( I tried every reset I could but the screen just wouldn't turn on and stayed black even though the laptop itself would turn on. I was really worried and didn't know what to do so I started looking for ways to get it fixed. I first went in to the Apple store and they scared me by saying that if they took my Mac in they would end up erasing all the data. They also were charging a lot for the repair as well as an additional fee to back up the data. I decided to look elsewhere and tried ClickAway. The lady used a refurbished screen on my laptop and the display turned on, but the quality was terrible and she was also charging me almost as much as the Apple store if I wanted a brand new screen. I turned it down and continued looking for better options. I finally found out about Alex and Mobile Mac Tech and thought I'd give it a shot. I was able to get an appointment within a couple days of contacting Alex! When I took my Mac to Alex he was able to immediately diagnose the problem and provide me with a brand new screen. The outer cover of the screen (by the Apple logo) had a couple scratches which he let me know about prior to me deciding on the option. I didn't feel like those scratches were a big deal considering the display itself was brand new so I was down. Couldn't be happier with my repaired MacBook Pro. Had some logic board issues which rendered my laptop unusable. As soon as I explained the symptoms, Alex knew exactly what was wrong. When it comes to laptops and cell phones, I'm the type of person who's used to taking the easy way out by getting a replacement/swapping it out entirely so when my Macbook Pro was acting up, I was tempted to just buy a new one. I chose Alex to work on my 2012 MacBook pro because of his stellar Yelp reviews; I was not disappointed. His response time was quick, he was super friendly and clear, and the day of my appointment he was able to do the diagnostics and the work in a matter of hours. It ended up being a bit pricier than I expected, but only because I opted to double the RAM to speed up my machine and protect it's longevity. Alex did the diagnostics and basic clean-up (defrag, etc) that we agreed upon, and then sought approval before adding more memory. It was clear that I needed to increase my memory, but I appreciated that he made this an option rather than moving forward with it and then me being surprised by a higher price tag. At the end of the day I spent $250 and laptop is running faster and more efficiently than it has in a long time! Definitely worth the investment to extend the life of this computer. read more
