First off, Alex and Renee have been very responsive to my emails and phone calls, and their service is prompt, which I greatly appreciate. However, the truth is that my computer was never fixed. The issue that I had paid to have resolved started occurring again immediately after I received my computer back (which I had reported back to Alex via email), and while he offered a suggestion that made my computer still very annoying but usable enough that I didn't prioritize following up any further due to some personal issues, the problem continued getting worse and the computer is now basically unusable. Alex called me after I finally had time to address the issue and reach out to him via email, but he was firm and ungracious in stating that I was outside the warranty window of my repair, despite my repeated insistence that he never really actually fixed my computer in the first place, and did not offer any other help. Look, I completely understand that there are warranties for repairs to prevent idiots from doing stupid things to break their computer again, but there should be exceptions if the computer was never satisfactorily fixed in the first place, and especially if I was not able to physically bring the computer back within the warranty period. Please be aware that if your Mac is basically in a vintage or obsolete status like my iMac that "YMMV" for any repair. But go with someone who stands behind their repairs and will listen to their customers to prove it. read more

But it also needed a new logic board - which we expected as the friend had taken it to an Apple Store when it first died and that's what they told him. Unfortunately, the logic board had to be ordered and it wouldn't arrive in time for the friend to fly to LA for his interview. Alex stepped up and said we could take the laptop with his test logic board in it. So it was usable for the interview. Such a star! Absolutely amazing customer service! Long overdue review, but better late than never. My Mid-2011 27" iMac is still a great machine but, as all electronics age, stuff is bound to go wrong. Last year my iMac refused to start up due to a failed video card and I called upon Alex to help me out and he was able to refurbish it for less than replacing it. Easy drop-off at his place and pickup in a few days. Recently, my Mac had been bogging down while editing pics and I knew my 1TB HD was filling-up fast―and getting old. So I knew it was time for an upgrade. I called upon Alex and he was able to install a 2TB SSD and migrated all my data so my computer looked like I never left. I did buy all the replacement parts (SSD, bracket and thermal cable) myself to save a few bucks but, with the wonders of Amazon, this was no sweat. I'm not sure how much he charges for the "mobile" portion, as both times I've chosen the drop-off at his home. He also recently moved so now lives much closer to me! w00t! Simply amazing! I accidentally broke my screen on Wednesday night - late. I found them on Yelp - they responded that night and the next morning. My appointment was at 11:30 am. Renee was out immediately (due to Covid), gathered additional data that I hadn't put into the online appointment request, then walked me through their process (very clear - no guesswork), and said Alex would be in touch within the next hour. He called 30 minutes later - gave me the bad news first, then the good news, told me the price, and set my expectation that I could pick it up either late that day or tomorrow morning. Renee called about another hour later to let me now the part arrived early and I could pick it up at 3:30 pm. I don't have a back up computer, so this is my workhorse and I'm lost without it. They were both gracious, understood my dilemma and that time was of the essence, and were super fast to turn everything around. I removed this one-star review in September when the MacFixed owner threatened legal action. My attorney advised me that such action would violate California law not to mention free speech. Here it is again... My uncle passed away in San Jose, CA without leaving the codes that his widow needed to use his MacIntosh computer. I have used Apple computers since the 1970s. Even worked in one of the earliest Apple stores when I was a student. I live in Santa Fe, NM. I was able to help my aunt to a substantial degree by phone and photographs. Had I been there in person with hands on, I am certain I could have finished the job. I phoned MacFixed because they had very good reviews. I wanted to describe the issues and verify that their people could do the job. I was speaking with the receptionist about an appointment when one of their technicians took over the call. I tried to explain the issues but the man simply would not stop talking. He went on and on about his qualifications and experience assuming that I knew nothing. He became rude and condescending saying that he got calls like mine all day adding that they were a waste of his time. "Just leave it to me," he said. I thanked him and said goodbye without finishing the appointment. I don't do business with people who have no communication skills. I started the phone call with a five-star review in mind. The man's tongue earned him just one. My aunt went to an Apple store. As I expected, they fixed it in minutes. I started using MacFixed in 2019. I prefer to turn to small, local businesses as someone from the area. Prices are reasonable, turnaround is swift and they're pretty reliable. I had scheduled an appointment in June and as I was walking out the door received a phone call with some very upsetting news. Before I could respond, I did receive an email about canceling my 15-minute appointment in advance and how Alex was waiting. I did think about opening my laptop since I couldn't see through tears on my phone but then thought about how much more important my feelings were in that moment. I did respond by apologizing. Fast forward to today when I scheduled a 15-minute appointment to drop off, as I usually would, the day got away from me and I missed it and immediately sent an email apologizing. Turns out they don't need my business. They would rather me go elsewhere because I missed 2 appointments in the last few years. Alex is extremely rude and arrogant, and my experience with him matching to this previous Yelp review written on 2/20/2019: "This guy is rude and hot headed. Charged me $350 dollars to replace parts. I asked him questions about parts and processes, he got angry and misbehaved. Very intolerant, too much attitude for replacing computer parts." I had a supper slow MacBook that he quoted me $49 diagnosis or $385 for a fix. When I told him over the phone that I would pick up my laptop because I didn't want to spend $385, his tone and attitude over the phone was already very impatient and keep emphasizing he had spend a lot of time to disassembly the MacBook. His business model is to attract customers with $49 diagnosis and then later more lucrative fixing fees. If customers do not proceed with a bigger bill, he then turned his attitude and despised customers! On the date I picked up my MacBook in front of their home office front yard, the concierge lady was super nice and pilot. I requested to turn on my MacBook to make sure it is still the same state as I sent my laptop to them. The lady said shed needed to went in the house to check with Alex and Alex need to connect the battery as he already disconnected it. I said that is fine I just wanted to make sure I can still turn my laptop on as the same condition I sent the laptop to them. I thought that was a fair ask and the lady agreed with me but still said she needed to check with her boss. Alex rushed out to his house and yelled at me why I was such a trouble maker. He insisted me to handed him the $49 before he would give me back my laptop. He continued to yell at me saying: "do you know I have a business meeting now!? do you know how many 5 stars I had on Yelp? What's wrong with you? Don't waste my time here. Take your laptop and go now!" He was wearing slippers standing in front of his house scolding me like I was a kid with wrongdoings. I was stunned with his anger and attitude. After he went back to his house, the lady kept apologizing. I asked her what is the problem with her boss? Did he have an anger problem? I was his customer not a random kid making a mess in his front yard! While the lady trying to explain nicely why Alex behaved badly like that. Alex yelled again from his house: "go away right now. Your car blocked other customers' parking!" That was really ridiculous attitude. It was within my booked 30 minute time slot from their website and it's a street parking that there were still plenty of space on the street. This was the worse customer service experience I have ever had. Be careful if you chose MacFixed. Because if you don't pay more for fixing the problem, you may be treated improperly for getting your laptop back after diagnosis. read more

Just wanted to share my recent experience with MacFixed to warn others. I had brought in a brand new (never used!) MacBook Pro A1707. Just to explain, this was a 5 yrs old MB Pro that was in a sealed never before opened box. I'll spare you the details on why it was never opened. My son in college needed a new MacBook, so I finally decided to unpackage the MacBook and pwr up for the first time. Because it had never been turned on before, I figure I would need to let it charge for a few hours.... still nothing. Probably needed a new battery after never been turned on and dormant for past 5 yrs. I spoke to the nice lady answering the phone at MacFixed and scheduled an appt to drop off for a $65 diagnostic. Keep in mind, this is a personal home business where the exchange was done on the driveway... which I didn't have a problem with, I'm all for supporting small local business in my community and it was on my way to work. Within 20 minutes, I receive a call from a guy named Alex. In an unpleasant tone says "your battery is fine but the diode on the logic board is fried and needs to be repaired for $350. I calmly asked, how could that be if it's never even been powered on before. His response, "I don't know but I've been doing this for 30 yrs so I know what I'm talking about and it's fried!" I calmly asked, for $350 what does the work entail? His response. "I'm going to replace the fried parts and it will work just like new!" I gave him the OK to proceed with the repair. Another 30 minutes goes by and I receive another call from Alex, saying while he was removing the fried diode, he also found a fried chip that he also removed and found the entire logic board had excessive damage that my whole logic board could not be repaired and will require a replacement instead for $875! I again asked him; can you explain to me what could cause the logic board to get damaged if it's never even been turned on before. Again, his response was, "I've been doing this for 30 yrs so I know what I'm doing, and I will guarantee that it will work!" I politely declined and said I would need take this up with Apple for a possible a case study. I picked up the laptop the next day and dropped it off at apple for their diagnostic. Well... they confirmed that everything was brand new mint condition from the factory, however, someone had removed one of the chips and possibly tried to solder it back. I asked if anything on the PCBA appeared to be FRIED? He chuckled; nothing was fried. Apple said it likely just needed a new battery replacement but because someone had removed the chip and damaged the logic board, they wouldn't be able to know for sure. Unfortunately, the MacBook Pro is out of warranty. I paid and expensive price by taking it to MacFixed (aka MacDamage!). Don't let this happen to you. read more

Excellent repair of Macbook Air. If your keyboard 1-9 digits are not working (a common problem) it is likely the keyboard connector or the pins. The best thing is to have them replace the keyboard. They charge a bit more than others, but their service makes up for it. They repaired my Mac in an an hour and also replaced the trackpad for a total of $280 cash. I brought in my MacBook a few weeks back to get the screen replaced. It was my first experience and it was extremely positive. Rene and Alex are very professional and courteous. I was able to pick up my MacBook in half the time that was promised. Unfortunately, the new display developed a problem after a few weeks. I was out of the country. I called and spoke to Alex. I sent a picture of the problem with the display. Even though I was going to return after the 60 day warranty period, Alex agreed to replace the display under warranty as long as there was no physical damage. Today I dropped off my laptop in the morning with an expectation of picking it up at the end of the day or the following day. I got a nice call 2 hours later that the display had been replaced and my MacBook was ready. Thanks for another very professional experience. Resurrected my macbook - needed a new motherboard - in a couple of days. I was back up and running before I absolutely needed it.

My husband went to an authorized repair center to fix a simple problem. The battery was no longer charging from the cable. The Apple center wanted to go nuts, replace the logic board and do data recovery because the SSD is embedded. They wanted 1400 dollars and like two weeks to fix it!
