UPDATE: It is not based on your bank accounts. Two of the finance companies DID NOT ask for my bank account. When I was not approved the finance companies sent me letters stating that this is based on your credit score and history. Also I would now doubly beware because THE OWNER just put my business for the world to see. I never shared if I was approved or not. He also lied as well. Another reason to BEWARE! Please see pic below, PROOF okay, so it is a lie that they don't check credit. They use 3 third parties to give finance plans. ALL of the finance options are based on your credit report. They DO ASK FOR YOUR SS NUMBER! You will have to pay off the items in three months. They have a 12-month option but the interest rates are ridiculous. It is not a scam but there is a lot of misleading information and for that beware.

Normally I would rate a place like MacStar with 5 stars, and I was ready to do just that because several associates had already sung their praises, and they've always steered me right in the past. It's true, you walk in and you immediately know that they are professional and highly skilled. Talk to them and that hunch is confirmed in short order. The reason I can only give them three stars right now however has nothing to do with their skills or quality of service. It has to do with the fact that, as a COVID survivor who very nearly DIED three months ago, it was immediately obvious that the sincere COVID blurb at the top of their page is 100 percent baloney. NOBODY IN THE SHOP WAS WEARING ANY FACE COVERING WHATSOEVER, and the ten minutes I spent in that tiny shop was nothing short of terrifying, because when I wear a mask and the other people do not, transmission rates are close to 70% as opposed to about 2 percent if everyone is wearing a mask. In fact, I was putting my mask ON when one of them said, "Oh don't worry, you're fine" (fine as in: don't worry about masks) And as I left, I asked one of them if they simply didn't believe COVID was real. Answer: Nope, they don't believe it's real. Unlike some people, I am not sitting here thinking, "Good, I hope you all catch it and wind up in ICU to teach you a lesson." I try not to be a jerk...sometimes I wind up being one anyway, like when I am a little bit terrified for my health and safety. But I tried to keep the screaming in my mind (Are you people INSANE?) from issuing out of my piehole and I just left as quickly as I could instead. Maybe someday when this pandemic winds down and we have antivirals and vaccines, I will once again be able to give them some business. I truly believe my friend's assertion that this is one of the best computer shops in town. But apparently they are geniuses about computers.... biology and medicine, not so much. And I cannot afford to take that risk.

I contacted this place because they are close to where I live & it would save me a trip to go to SA...Stay Away from this Place...they over charge there customers & try to get EVERY dollar they can out of you. Contacted about a Canon EOS R & they want to charge 2200$ when the camera is 1400$ everywhere else. Doesn't come with anything extra like a lens either, just the body only. Ridiculous! Save your money & go elsewhere!!

This place falsely advertises on Offer up. I bought a camera package from them over the phone drove 2 hr. And when I got there it was the wrong lens one way less quality than the one I paid for. They refused to fix the problem and lied that they didn't know it was the wrong lens. They are either just really uneducated on camera gear or just dissipative. They are not willing to take responsibility for there mistakes. read more

These guys spam craigslist, offerup, and facebook marketplace every day and make it impossible to search for stuff. Not only that, they have misleading prices to get you in the door like a used carsalesmen. I've called them a few times about it and they are absolutely nasty people over there. No wonder why they have to resort to spamming websites to get business. Wish I could put zero stars. read more

Macstar is probably the best place I have ever shopped at I have ordered from here on 3 occasions and every time it's been super easy. Friendly staff! I came in yesterday because my Macbook was exhibiting issues with charging. I spoke to a nice guy (didn't catch his name) and he explained to me the cost and the service as well as patiently answering any questions I had. I would be careful when purchasing an Apple product from here. Most of these reviews are about their repair services. But I don't see any for purchased products. As a former Apple employee I know the difference between legitimate Apple packaging and third party. I picked up a new Ipad I wanted to purchase and I could right away spot the differences in the box compared to products that come out of the Apple store. I decided not to follow thru with the purchase after looking at the packaging. I am not saying these are fake but they could be used and repackaged to be sold at full retail price. I strongly suggest doing your research before shopping here. read more

My boyfriend and I came here after his laptop screen shattered. It was 5 min til closing and they were so kind and finished our screen replacement within 45 mins. They even offered us water. Amazing customer service and super friendly!! The screen fits perfectly and looks brand new! Definitely coming here again if we need to. Found them on offer up and wanted to do finance option. This is the thing... charging higher than retail for the sake of the customers finance option is just wrong. If a customer cant afford to pay retail cash. Why would u charge 100+ above retail taking advantage of vulnerable customers. Just wrong. read more

I brought in wife's Mac air that was having charging issues. It was a Sunday and I was very grateful they were open. Moe very clearly told me what he needed to do check to diagnose the issue. I thought it might be a battery issue that I had replaced myself. Upon diagnosing issue turns out it was a charging port issue for which he had the part and fixed up to working condition on the spot . I am very satisfied with their work and would recommend them for Mac service/repairs if you're in need. Thanks Mac Star! read more

Terrible experience when I bought an used macbook air with MAC STAR COMPUTERS. I do not recommend. Run away from them. They take advantages if you are a foreign, offering computers only by extortionate prices. They pushed me a very expensive computer, although it had been used more than 3 years. The price was almost a new one. Some days after buy, I realized it was damaged. There was a scratch that was disguised with the workspace picture. I trusted them, but this was my mistake. read more

Wowza! thats too good to be true for a camera that is valued at $1200. I messaged them to see if I can get it, they tried together me togo to Anaheim to look at it. I will give them a +1 star from the 1 star making it 2 stars. This other star is for answering questions when I asked about the payment and the $20 listing. It was for a downpayment a financing this camera and the real price was $1495 plus whatever high rate interest payment I'd have to do for the financing for this. Making this camera about 50% higher than the other ones available online.

My MacBook that I recently bought from Apple with apple care broke and WASN'T COVERED. I found out that my laptop was only worth 200 so I wasn't going to pay 500 to fix the Retina display. Leo and Rami thankfully referred me to someone that would take it off my hands and I was then able to regain some money to buy a laptop here. It was definitely something that I wish I had done earlier, saved me so much money rather than buying a brand new one for over a thousand dollars. Leo was kindly able to help me pick the laptop that was for perfect for me! I recommend anyone that is looking to buy a laptop that is in good working condition and great customer service as well. UPDATE: Recently needed to update my MacBook from the 2010 to 2014 so it's lighter and easier for use for college. Looked at many different places - including Craigslist and STILL could not find a better deal. I was really sad when I didn't see MAC STAR at Mainplace, only to find out they've moved! Had a broken 2007 MacBook Pro that needed to be replaced. The tech team patiently listened to my problem and explained my options. Sam, the owner, decided to give me a 20% discount (I'm retired) on a used MacBook Pro. He and his team was very courteous and offered quick service based on my failed system. I found Sam and his team on Yelp and have now experienced what other customers have said about their excellent, personal service. I feel that I've been treated very fairly and very respectfully. They're transferring my old H/D to my new hardware as I sit in their store. Excellent service - please try them! Came back to find a MacBook Air for my wife. Enjoyed the usual patient and polite service as before. They listened to our needs and showed us two choices and carefully explained the benefits and features so we could compare. This is their trademark service; asking questions instead of pushing the most expensive items, first. My wife is very happy with the one she now is using. I entered Mac Star Computers today with the intention of getting my older Macbook pro screen fixed. I was immediately greeted by Alex and after a few minutes of conversation I quickly realized I had discvored the holy grail of Apple products. Ive been interested in upgrading my macbook pro for a while now but given my financial situation and far below average credit it wasn't possible. Mac Store Computers was the solution. Alex lined me up with a mint condition Macbook Pro ZERO MONEY DOWN! Not only did Alex and the other employees set me up with a macbook 5 times better than my current model but they were able to set me up with a realistic and very affordable payment plan. To top it off they threw in new case, 1 TB external hardrive, and even waived the diagnostic fee to get my old macbook fixed. To say the least I am beyond ecstatic and will be referring them to all my friends. The only negative thing i would say about my experience with Mac Star would be the inability to give them 10 stars instead of 5. Mac Star workers are very helpful and extremely thorough in their work. I brought in my 2011 MacBook Pro and were able to examine my computer in front of me so I understood what was wrong with my equipment. My GPU was shot after high sierra update and unfortunately was part of the recall. They gave me many options and I eventually decided to buy a preowned computer. I don't have any credit to my name at the moment but the beauty of this place is that there is a financing option without having credit! You do have to pay it off within three months but it's very reasonable if you are someone who wants an Apple product but don't have the money to spend all at once. Rami was very patient with me and explained the process. They were able to fix my problem same day as opposed to waiting a week like most apple repair shops. Like many people, I rely heavily on my computer for work so a week was not an option for me. These guys work fast! Will definitely be coming back to get my Apple products serviced here. Rami is the best. I came in to the store because I needed my macbook repaired after the screen went out. I had been quoted 4 different prices over $300 dollars. Rami assured me that Mac Star Computers could repair my computer at a better price. He kept his word!!!! The store repaired my computer for $180.00 and it works better than before. I was so glad for the savings, because most repair places just wanna rip you off for a quick buck. Mac Star Computers is very concerned about customer satisfaction, the environment is friendly and caring, I appreciate that alot! I have been wanting to get a Macbook for a while now, but could never get myself to pull the trigger. I went to the Apple store a few times, but I ended up leaving empty handed because of the hefty price ranges. Well, my computer that I use for my profession (graphics design) crapped out on me one day unexpectedly, so I got on my phone to find a repair store ASAP. I saw these guys on yelp, and after checking that they had good reviews, made a trip to the Santa Ana mall. Their tech in the backs name was Nasser, and he was extremely helpful. He helped me understand that I was doing too many resource intensive tasks and that the computer I had wasn't made for a graphics designer. Learning this, I told him I might be interested in seeing what they had for sale. I didn't want to spend over 1000, and he was able to accommodate my needs and price. After about an hour in the store, I finally purchased my new Macbook Pro! It's been working amazingly, and I can't thank these guys enough. Very satisfied all around. read more

This is a conveniently located mall front store offering a wide selection of lightly used Macs and Apple products. I bought a great little iPad and cover and my boyfriend bought a Mac computer that I am totally envious of. Alex was our sales person and was extremely friendly, courteous and knowledgable. The computer has been up and running for a couple of weeks but I brought it back to Alex again today to customize it with a "double boot" feature which will enable us to use some of the hard drive to run Windows as well as IOS. This was done within the day and works perfectly. We couldn't be happier. Alex even went as far as to carry the whole thing (it's an all in one with a 27" monitor) out of the mall and through the parking lot to my car. I thought that was very nice of him and showed some great customer service which unfortunately, is rather rare these days. Thank You Alex! I have been coming to this store along with two other members of my family. We have all purchased laptops from them and they have always been more than accomadating and a downright pleasure to work with. I purchased two G Books for my young daughters for $250 each and now two Mac Pro's. I have experienced nothing but outstanding and friendly customer service. Everyone that comes in is greeted warmly as they come in and then as they are looking around everything is explained to them with nothing left out. Sam, Nasser, and Vanessa are extremely educated and well informed. They are so great to work with that everytime I come in to the store I find myself spending just as much time conversating as I do handling my business. I would recommend this store to EVERYONE. I came here for two reasons. First, I needed a Mac that I could afford/finance. Second, because my friend got an iMac here last week and he still hasn't shut up about what a great deal he got! So after casually asking the sales rep to check my eligibility for financing, not only they approved me for a decent amount, but Tariq (oh lord, This man knows how to make a kickass deal!) just had to call these guys and tell them to increase my credit amount!!! And by a large Margin! But wait, he didn't stop there either, he started giving me discounts on an already amazing price, so much that I was worried he was losing money on this!!! Moe was EXTREMELY helpful. I got an awesome Mac computer at a really good price. (It was on special). I also took my girlfriends PC to get her screen fixed. It did take a bit of time but I didn't mind it. At first when the screen arrived, he tested it and it wasn't up to standards. He then called me and asked me if he was able to fix the screen free of extra charges. (Since I had already paid). I agreed. When the screen was fixed he then checked out everything on the laptop. There was something wrong with it so then he communicated to me that since it did take longer time to fix, he would make additional maintenance on it for free. When it was finished I checked the computer out and it was running really smooth. Moe was very communicative with me about everything and he was truthful. These guys are crazy good. I went in to fix an odor issue that my keyboard had. I guess from all the years of using it, the sweat and skin from your fingers builds up, eventually to get hot and cause an odor. Common but not pleasant. So these guys gave me the cheapest quote out annnny mac repair center in OC. By about 30-50%. So, I get there to drop it off and start asking about upgrades. I ended up getting the whole mac cleaned and an 800gb sold state drive, upgraded ram, and a deeper cleaning than expected for the original price quoted. They didn't call me and tell me it was busted more and this and that. Turns out the odor had spread into the heat sinks and everything else. So they had to go out and purchase an special deodorizer for those parts. Very tedious and at no cost to myself. This thing runs like a champ. Fast and crazy. I am fully fully satisfied with every dollar spent. Thanks boys! read more

Go to them for your computer repairs or if you're in the market for a new laptop. The store has a great selection on computers and is kept very clean. The staff is really friendly, they answer their phone professionally and on time with no waiting time. Came in turned and was greeted immediatley, i came to turn in my Hp laptop to get it repaired had a black screen and didn't not turn on properly. They fixed my laptop in a few days for a low rate that is reasonable. Once I got my laptop back they told me what they did and what was wrong with it and explained me everything to a level where i was able to understand to what they did, unlike other shops in which they just fix it and give it to you. I would highly recommend friends and family to coming here for their repairs and also if they want to buy a new laptop. Well were should I start... I got lost a few times on the way and Alex was super funny helping me find my way to them. Once I arrived I was greeted right away by a young lady in the front of the store and she directed me towards Alex. Man i cant explain how great this company is. First off Rami was nice and professional from the start when i called in. When i arrived Rami walked me through almost their whole inventory and answered my 100 questions. No pressure at all. When he advised me that a 5k imac with a special video card would fit me with my video editing needs i was finally sold. The price was fair almost ebay price except i got 6 months warranty. Because of their friendly services and warm environment i decided to buy a camera too. The mark 2. After purchase i tested the new camera and omg it works unbelievably great. When i transferred the photos to the imac it came out wonderful. My customers are now going to be amazed. For about six months I searched off and on for a computer shop to upgrade my MacBook. Two shops gave me quotes over the phone which were ridiculously over priced. I submitted an email to Mac Star explaining I needed a quote to swap my HDD for an SSD. They did not call me back or email me a quote. I found out later because my email went to their junk mail. The next day I actually stopped by the store and talked with Moe who was knowledgeable about what I needed done and kept things in layman's terms. He also gave me other useful knowledge about apple products in general. More importantly, he was a professional and offered a reasonable price for my upgrades which was completed in one day. I reviewed this place at 5 stars when I bought my used 2011 MacBook Pro 15" last year. I still want to give them 5 stars. My computer was overheating and it melted some of the solder inside. I was worried that this would be a VERY expensive fix. Mo put all of my questions to rest, the fix was VERY AFFORDABLE and he can even upgrade my computer's RAM and Hard Drive if I need. Mo really knows computers and what he's doing and I really trust him to take good care of my Laptop... It's like finding a mechanic that you know for sure you can trust. You're not worried about taking road trips or vacationing somewhere hot because you know your car will be taken care of... same is true here. TARIQ just sold me a 27" iMac with 32 GB ram and 1Tb storage and I got a great deal here! you will definitely not find cheaper than this. i can't wait to get home and play with my new toy. excellent costumer service. all i see in the store is smiles and welcoming people. Rami was WONDERFUL! I did the 3 month payment plan for my iPad, and after receiving a notice that my Flexpay account had been sold to a company called Monterey Financial that had tacked on some mysterious fees, I immediately came to the store to get some questions answered. Rami was patient, bought me some coffee, even gave me a snack, and called the company themselves to get all my questions answered. The guys there were in my corner the whole time. I ended up just paying off the balance, because if for some reason there was a glitch within the 90 days, I would owe an additional $1000. But I'm so happy I just came to the store to talk it out, and that Rami was there to help me through the ordeal. Thank you guys so much!! Will be back, for sure. I called Alex on Wednesday the 20th and told him I would be there tomorrow which is today exactly 10am sharp because my work shift started at 9 but moved it to 12. Alex showed up just on time pulled up my information and started showing me the laptops. I was really interested in something slim because the old MacBooks were thick and bulky, he showed me a few and then he pulled one out that was more then what I asked for but not only did Alex hook it up but gave me a free case for it, free mouse and a free bag to put my computer in. Of course it's a computer your paying over 1800 dollars you must take good care of it and he REALLY took care of me. I was expecting at least some hassle or a restocking fee--but they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. What really blew me away, though, was their honesty. I ended up switching to a Fujifilm model, and the staff member let me know that another shop back east was running a $500 discount on it--and then matched that deal for me on the spot. I had no idea about the promotion, and they easily could have charged full price. I still would have been happy based on the return experience alone. Friendly staff? Check. Great customer service? Check. But that level of honesty and integrity is something you just don't see anymore. That's what sets this place apart. You really can't put a price on that kind of trust. I'll absolutely be a customer for life.

They were very upfront about the surface being a tablet and any repair would not make it useful anymore. For the laptop, PC, they were able to restore the operating system, and it got it back to me cleaned. Even the WiFi issue was resolved. Most impressive was my MacBook Pro. It had been dropped, so there was a dent in the chassis. This time the battery was not working. In replacing the battery repaired the chassis as well. They have a plethora of other laptops and monitors that are heavily discounted. I strongly suggest taking a look at the options and any repairs to breathe new life into your computers. Turn around time was about a day. I would suggest going in to talk to the front staff. If you have questions I will as well. They're very knowledgeable about all things computing.
