The best Mac service in Los Angeles, fast and friendly, don't waste your time with anyone else

5 stars are NOT enough for this honest, life saving, super fast, and customer service oriented business! Words cannot explain the AMAZING service I received from Ray and his team, but I will do my best to try. My Macbook Pro's hard drive crashed due to an incident so my excursion began at the Apple Store's Genius Bar (Not sure why they call it a Genius Bar....they are mostly MORONS with no experience in repairing computers, let alone diagnosing problems, and they are mostly brainwashed hipsters that feel a need to wear tasteless vintage clothes and grease their Handlebar mustaches in order to fit into society......so lame!.....GROW UP!!) After making an appointment and waiting several hours at the Apple Store, I received the news I expected which was they can't fix it because they no longer stock the parts....what a JOKE this place is! This was my LAST visit to the Apple Store and I will NEVER return again, even for accessories. The Apple Store is seriously a joke and filled with bandwagon jumpers anyway, who were mostly PC people and ONLY jumped on the Apple Bandwagon after the creation of the ipod!......MINDLESS FOOLS! While we are on the subject of this AWFUL place, there should really be 2 lines in every Apple Store, one for dedicated Apple users like myself who have always used them since Grammar School (Pre-1984 introduction to MAC) and one line for bandwagon fans who needed the invention of the ipod in order to pull them away from the PC world and into Apple's! Ok, on to MacPro-LA! This place ROCKS! I called this place up after leaving the Apple Dump and Ray answered the phone. He was extremely courteous and assured me he could bring my computer back from the dead at a REASONABLE cost. Not only that, be he would NOT charge me a diagnostic fee (Or Extortion fee as I call it, like other 3rd party Apple repair companies do) needless to say I jumped in the car and drove over to his shop which is open LATE and has PLENTY of parking! 2 MAJOR pluses in my book. Upon arriving at his shop and meeting Ray, there was NO LONG LINES or waiting customers like "Other places". Ray sat me down and asked me to explain what was wrong. He offered me a FREE loner computer to take while I left mine. I almost fell over with the customer service I was receiving!! I felt that SURELY I would get screwed somehow in this deal as everything up to this point was too good to be true! After explaining the situation, Ray said not a problem I will have a look at it first thing in the morning and would call me with an update. The next morning at 10am my phone rang and it was Ray, first asking me "How I was doing"?....what a guy. He then told me he looked at my computer and had a few different options for my hard drive replacement and data recovery....ALL OPTIONS WERE EXTREMELY REASONABLE in price. I gave him the "Ok" and he went to work on it. I figured I would hear back from him in a few weeks like most other repair companies. My phone rang again at 4pm that same day, Ray said my computer was ready to be picked up!....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Same day service?? HA!! Try THAT at the Apple Store!!.....NEVER! I walked into MacPro-LA at 5pm that day and AGAIN....there was NO LINE and NO ONE waiting! I felt like a Rock Star! Ray sat me down and began to show me what he had done with my computer. The first thing I noticed was my computer was SPOT LESS CLEAN! I didn't even recognize it! Ray had not only cleaned my computer, but DETAILED it to perfection! It looked like a new computer! He then showed me what he did and introduced me to one of his technicians, Chris. Chris was just as personable as Ray and a TRUE "GENIUS" when it comes to Macs. Ray also told me he checked my computer in full and replaced my broken DVD drive with a new one at a fraction of the cost (With my previous approval of course). Ray also updated ALL my software and made sure everything was running BETTER than before. I gladly paid him and left. At 7pm that night, just after Ray closed his shop, I had a question for him regarding my computer. I called his store and received no response so I hung up (Must have just missed him) ......seconds later my phone rings, it is Ray who calls me by my name as soon as I answer and asks how he can help me. (I ask you people......How can customer service be better than this?) Ray solved my issue over the phone and told me to call anytime, he is always available to help me. THE BOTTOM LINE: If you are in need of ANY service, repair, or want to purchase any Apple products, there is NO BETTER place to go than to MacPro-LA. If you bring an item in for repair here, chances are that item will be working BETTER than it ever did when you get it back! Ray and his staff will take EXCELLENT care of you and all your needs! For those that are still brainwashed and enjoy poor service, long lines, and pissing money away, than the Apple Store is still best for you. Enjoy! read more

These folks. These guys. These PROs. These Kings of New England. Bought a Macbook off them last year. They supercharged the thing, and made it go to 11. I was off to the races, writing, editing, doing the things that people do on uber computers. Nary a problem. Cut to recently: kaboom. Something went wrong. I took it to them...they said, "Friendo, you got a friend in us." Referred me to a very recent Apple recall of said 'puter. Told me who to talk to and where to stand. Did what they told me...got my GPU replaced (thanks APPLES!). And you know what? Through it all, they were tireless pros, and they took my calls, and they went out of their Waynes to help me. Next machine I buy...it's from them. Again and again. Hands down. And hands up, and clapping, for these hombres que pueden hacer a little computer magic...and great (read: friendly) service. If you are thinking of purchasing from eBay or Craigslist...STOP! And go here instead! It is a very easy location...just pop by and see what they have. Give Ray and his team a chance before you buy from 'Shifty Joe on Craigslist'. They are about quality, not quantity. And customer service is amazing both before, during, and after your purchase. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. After getting cozy with my iPad, iPod, and iPhone over the last 3 years...it was finally time to make the full switch from PC to Mac. Now, I really don't know too much about specs or different models, IOS, etc. I did as much research as I could and finally went in to MacPro-LA...just to see what used models they had for sale. I definitely wanted used so I could have a CD drive to practice Rosetta Stone. MacPro-LA was just fantastic. They definitely have their knowledge...truly Ray and his team know everything about everything Mac-related. But he was able to really dumb it down for me and explain in normal terminology the functions and specs of each model (whether they had it in stock or not). In the end, I made an informed decision. I simply can't believe how great this place is. The other reviews are right on, but don't go far enough. The care for the client is not just top-notch, but actually beyond that of almost any other business I've ever dealt with- Apple-related or not. And I've dealt with a lot in my 60 years. I got my first Mac over 30 years ago. DO NOT GO TO MELROSE MAC- it was one of the Apple certified repair and data-recovery places recommended by the local Apple store, and It's a complete rip-off. In my experience, they are liars and thieves, and not one of the employees give a damn about the clients. MacPro LA has had numerous opportunities to take advantage of me, and instead has saved me money at every turn, never charging for extremely fast diagnostics (even over the weekend), and always recommending the cheapest AND best solution. I'm still in shock over the kindness of my latest transaction with them and had to write this to thank them. Ray has proved to me on many occasions that his integrity is impeccable, and you can trust him with what sometimes feels like your life itself when your computer and/or your personal data are compromised. I've never bought a Mac from them, but from what I can tell, their prices are extremely fair, and almost always a better solution than a new or refurbished one from Apple. I ended up with a like-new macbook pro at a price I was incredibly happy with, and they took my dead machine as trade towards the purchase. Such a good experience. WOW! THIS IS WHY WE HAVE YELP!!!! My Macbook Pro was acting up and as I am in graduate school and taking online courses...I NEED to have my laptop be 100%. It wasn't playing dvds, or video and the fan was audible signaling there was something not right. So I jumped on the web and found Pro-LA and over 80 YELP REVIEWS!!!! BING! I was quickly on my way. My computer screen went blue! I came to this place at 2pm. My computer was dead out dated and super old. This place saved me! Got all my data back and back up service done for free! I purchased a Mac Book pro 13 for under $650. The Apple Store would have been 3 times as much! I received all my bookmarks back, word, excel, my pictures, music etc.... I tell you everything was transferred! I had my computer and was back home by 5pm. Super fast service!! Very chilled place. I cannot say enough good things about this shop! I'm so grateful to all those who had reviewed it before because your information is why I went in to see if they could help me, and now I want to let anyone having mac issues know that this is the place to go for reasonable and speedy work! My computer died - I tried rebooting it and got error messages, I even did the manual reset to try and reconnect the hard drive, but I failed. When I brought the laptop in and described what had happened I was not only told the two most likely causes for the error, but what they both would approximately cost. TALK ABOUT AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I picked up the computer 36 hours later and Ray, the owner happened to be there. I started to pick his brain about the speed of my laptop. I told him I had updated the RAM but I still wasn't thrilled with the performance, as I'm an editor and I often have to use the laptop when out of town for other work. He not only offered up options to increase the performance of my computer he talked me through the pricing and what to expect if I chose any or all of the upgrades. I settled (great price and speed) on a 1TB SSD and he had it ready for pick up that same day! Not only that, but he backed up my computer then and there so I didn't have to take it home, back it up, and bring it back like you do at the Mac store. Ray understands customer service in an old school way that is very rare these days. Case in point, I brought in an old and abused macbook pro for a few relatively minor repairs. He quoted me a fair price, we agreed and that was that. Well in the process of executing the repair, there were multiple additional system failures (not his fault, the machine was already on its last legs). This in turn required a replacement of the logic board, hard drive and a full data recovery, which would have been far more expensive than the initial price quote. Regardless, he stood by his word and only charged me the amount which we had agreed upon despite all of the extra parts and labor. So that was a solid, upstanding move on his part, and I was able to squeeze a few more years out of the machine. When it came time to replace it, I went back to him and he offered me a really good deal on a slightly used macbook pro that I have been using happily and trouble free ever since. read more

My MacBook Pro wouldn't turn on one morning... the day I had planned to back up the hard drive! I didn't know what the problem was, and I worried that the hard drive had died, before I was able to back it up. I took it in to MacPro-LA, and they said they would do some diagnostics. That was Friday evening. On Monday, I called back, and they had diagnosed and fixed the problem! The hard drive was ok! I was very happy, and backed it up as soon as I got home. They charged me a very reasonable amount for the work that was done, probably saved me more than $100 over what a different place would have charged me. Needless to say, I am very happy! read more

So happy to have found Ray and Mac Pro-LA, or Pro-LA as they're now called. Ray quickly repaired my 2008 MBP for a track-pad & expanding battery issue. While I was there I noticed, in his "Used" inventory, he had the exact newer 2012 MBP model I was looking for. I purchased this and I had Ray switch out the original HD for a new SSD, at cost I might add, max out the RAM to 16Gb and reinstall a new Mavericks OS only. This machine is Smoking Fast!, and a dream to use for business. Even got a 6 month warranty on the "Used" MBP. Ray was extremely fair in the costs and so quick in the execution of the repairs and upgrades that I never missed a beat. MacPro-LA - Fixed MacBook Pro. VERY HAPPY - Computers Near Me - Los Angeles, California

My next-door neighbor recommended these guys after I went through the seven circles of MacBook Pro Hell (spinning wheel of death, start up circle with slash mark through it, start up folder with question mark, etc. etc.) and foolishly tried the DIY approach by visiting various message boards from my smartphone. Two and a half hours later, I had a MacBook that did not recognize my hard drive at all! Years of work, inaccessible! I hadn't done a proper backup in ages and was TERRIFIED I would not recover my files. MacPro LA came to my rescue. Turns out I had a bad hard drive. MacPro-LA 1) recovered all of my files, 2) reloaded the Microsoft Office suite and iLife free-of-charge, 3) made sure iTunes, iPhoto etc. were organized and working, and 4) replaced my hard drive with one that has twice the memory of my old one--all for a fraction of the cost it would have been anywhere else. I dropped my computer off on a Monday and retrieved it before close of business on Wednesday. Ray (the owner and the main person I dealt with) and Chris (who was there when I picked up my computer) were both awesome and friendly and spoke English (not computerese) to me... I did not feel condescended to in the least, or dumb (even though being stupid and careless was part of what got me in my computer fix in the first place). I can't adequately describe my relief--not only to have gotten my computer restored, but to know (from talking to others who have been through similar events) that I paid such a good price. Local, professional, friendly, fast service, genuinely concerned about, and skilled at resolving the issues I came with; at a very low price I have to add. These are some of the main points I can use to describe my experience w/ Ray. It's a good feeling to find someone I can trust with my computer issues. Like a great dentist or mechanic, it makes life better. Much better! Computer glitches end up being just that. Nothing to worry too much about. Pro-LA is a real mom and pop neighborhood kind of place. I rarely review things on yelp but I'm STILL IN SHOCK at what a great guy Ray at Pro LA is!! My macbook wasn't charging and after some googling it seemed like it would need a new charge port. I took it in to Ray and he called later to tell me it was a simple fix and he just had to reset something. NO CHARGE. I can't even believe it. This is the third Mac Repair shop Ive been to as a mac owner and it will be my new mac repair home. If your Mac is ailing don't take it anywhere else. UPDATE: Before I took my computer in I was missing about 5 screws on the bottom. I just realized that all the screws are present and accounted for. What I love most is the PEACE & QUIET! There's NO pressure to quickly explain to a condescending "genius" what your latest colossal fuck-up is while pretending not to notice just how stupid and annoying said "genius" is making you feel. Why, yes, it was a colossal fuck-up on my part that brought me in here; I spilled my sugary, sticky drink on the keyboard and then took apart the entire computer as directed by a You Tube video. I know, I know, I had no business doing this but these are the lengths I'll go to just to avoid the Genius Bar Talabanis. 1. Ray did not not make me feel like an idiot (though he had every right to do so). 2. He removed the remaining lilliputian screws I managed to strip--free of charge. 3. He gave me an extra keyboard of his--free of charge. 4. I was able to give said keyboard back to him because the next day he fixed my Macbook in ten minutes once I realized what the underlying problem was the night before. Free. Of. Charge. 5. He doesn't mind me bringing my 90 pound pit bull in his shop. You'll never have to suffer the soul-crushing indignity that is the Genius Bar ever, ever again!!! read more

This is one of the best places involving mac products that I have ever been to. If you have Mac products I highly recommend you come here first. My hard drive crashed on my Macbook Pro, which is infuriating since it's only 1 year old. My biggest mistake was not backing up my info. I took it to the so called genius bar and they said well it's toast we need to replace it, but they don't do data recovery; so they sent me to Melrose Mac, which is THE worse place I've been to. Melrose Mac said they couldn't do anything, and I had to pay $50 and wait a day and half for them to tell me that, yes they charge you to just look at it. Their suggestion was to send it somewhere else and it would cost me about $450 including a $100 non-refundable diagnostic at the other place and would take about 2 weeks. Needless to say I wasn't very happy, so I searched around the net and through Yelp I found Pro-LA I liked the reviews and called Ray. He told me he would look at it and tell me, I asked how much to run a diagnostic, he said no charge to take a look at it, he doesn't do that. Wow what a difference! I took the computer in and within half an hour he was able to tell me if he was going to be able to help me or not. He did recovered all my files and everything was done right away. As far as I am concerned I'm calling Ray for all my Mac needs from now on. Highly recommend you do the same. It affects a business tremendously and if it wasn't the most exceptional experience or worst experience ever, I don't bother. That being said, I wish I could give Ray 10 stars, honestly! If you have any troubles at all bring your device here! Ray is a honest, no bullshit, man of his word type of guy. He will give you his honest personal opinion to what he thinks is in your best interest. He's not looking to drain your wallet like every other service out there. Even if your best solution is not in his best interest he will still guide you in the right direction. Its hard to find honest people these days, especially when they can use their knowledge to over power you. The person ok the phone was rude. I saw an ad posted on Craigslist for an iMac 2019 with 64gb of ram. The ad had one price and I called to make sure of the pricing. Two days later the price changed and I told the person about it. He was very rude and said that the other price was never there, but I have a screenshot from the ad. If he said that it was a mistake then I would have been fine, but he was rude over the phone and said that was never the price. Would have preferred if he said it was a mistake.
