I seriously really dislike this store. Let me articulate why: 1. The associates are rude and really need training in costumer service. For example, I went in tonight and was looking for a particular shade of blush. I patiently waited for assistance (it looked like they were severely understaffed). When I finally got approached, I told the associate what shade I was looking for. She rudely declares "We don't make that shade." Me: "Um yes you do. My sister uses it. Not only that I have a picture." Associate: "oh..." Riffles through drawers and finds it easily. Not only that, she wanted to sell me a liquid like shade of this blush when I told her I wanted a powder form. How about before you give wrong information about the products you sell, you verify information. Not only that, would it hurt to provide costumer service? 2. On separate occasions, the associates look scattered and pushy to sell you a certain product. If I want a powder format and I tell you that upfront perhaps you should just focus on showing me such formats of that particular product. 3. So pushy to get you out the door that they sell you the wrong product. On another occasion, I brought the container of foundation I needed. The associate gets me the foundation. Wrong. I go home and it's not the pro long wear I use. In a way, shame on me for not checking and making sure before I checked out but also shame on the associate for being in such a hurry that she didn't check the container enough to make sure it was the product I needed. 4. The store is small. So small that when you have like 25 people in there, it's claustrophobic. Probably why the associates don't take enough time to really hear your needs and wants. Overall, this MAC store is sophomoric. I've been a faithful MAC costumer for 5 years but tonight's experience has shown me I need to move on to a better brand that provides costumer service, knowledgeable associates and better pigments. read more

I have had mixed reviews about this MAC. The latest experience takes the cake and I will not be shopping there anymore. I walked in one day, having an idea of what I wanted, but still needing advice from a "professional." I was greeted as I walked in and some worker walked by me and said, "Hi! Is there anything I can help you find today?!" I began to reply, "Actually, yes! I would like to..." Mid-sentence, I noticed she had walked away to assist someone else. This just ticked me off immediately. I wanted to talk to the manager just to see if she had the same low, customer-service standards but of course she was too busy. There is no need to be going into a store like this just to end up angry. If I ever need a cosmetic from any MAC store, I will not have any expectations on getting good customer service. They have an amazing assortment of makeup here, ESPECIALLY lipstick. I'm usually a Sephora gal, but I was enticed into MAC when I saw their lipstick display which they had moved to the front. It is truly amazing how many different colors they have! I'm more of a lipgloss person, so I only owned about 4 shades of lipstick, and I rarely use them, but I ended up buying 3 new shades of lipstick from MAC that look incredible. I can't stress this enough... they have every shade of lipstick you could possible want! Red, brown, orange, silverish, goldish, shimmery, iridescent, and every combination in between. They have an okay selection of eyeshadows and eye liners, and I own one of their eyeshadows, but it's nothing special. I think Urban Decay has way better eyeshadows. The one I got from MAC was supposed to be a wet/dry shadow, but it's too hard to use dry... you have to use it wet, which is okay with me, except for the false advertising. One thing that is pretty annoying is that they have special promotional products that don't stick around very long. The one eyeshadow I bought was a red-silver-black trio. My friend loved it, since red is a very difficult shade to find, and only a week after I bought mine, she went to get herself one, but they didn't carry it anymore. I was looking for a red eye liner, but I just missed a shade called "Foxy"... they had just stopped carrying it. The search continues, I guess. The store can get really crowded, and sometimes it is difficult to get someone to help you. I understand why they get the products for you and walk you to the counter, for theft prevention and to give it an air of being waited on hand-and-foot, but they need more staff if they're going to pull that off. Pricing is slightly better than Sephora's and ULTA's premium brands. read more

I wish I could give this store a ZERO. The worst customer service ever, I had bought a foundation 3 weeks ago and didn't use a drop of it. It was in the original packing and wanted to return it. I misplaced my receipt because I moved but I had my credit card statement because that's the only thing I purchased that day. Maybe it's just me, but the staff has always been rude to me. Most recently, I was treated as though I were a shoplifter. I walked in and asked for help on choosing the right foundation and had to watch as the group pointed and whispered about me from not too far away. Finally, one of the girls walked over to me and "helped" me out. Basically slathering on some foundation on my face and not explaining much about the product, as if she did not care if she made a sale or not. I was then forced to wait by the counter for someone to help me checkout. The guy who rang me up was so rude, I still can't believe it. In all honesty I never come across a MAC store where I have not felt insulted or judged at one point (except for the Deer Park MAC) but this MAC store takes the cake for worst costumer service. In all the millions of times I have been in this store I have had one good experience, and that was when I wanted to try on the Ariana Grande lipstick. The worker who I assumed was the manager because he was not dressed like an average employee, told me he couldn't sell me the lipstick even if I wanted it because it was like 5 minutes before closing and they had already taken inventory (I saw no problem in this as it was late and they where already locking up the store) but he offered me to hold one specially for me tomorrow and let me try it on. I came back the next day and I got my lipstick without a problem. Unfortunately this was the only positive experience I had. On numerous occasions I have simply walked out of this store because no employees would help me and even if they did they would let me try a product on and then quickly run away to a new costumer. The worst experience was when I wanted to buy a new lipstick and eyeshadow. I walked up to one of the employees and told them I would like to buy a lipstick. I have never received such a horrible glare in my life. I told him I wanted Ruby Woo and I guess he felt that it wouldn't look good on me because he automatically started giving me other colors that he felt would "look better". They where colors exactly opposite to what I wanted. Finally he gave me the lipstick I wanted and sent me off the the cash register. Out of the corner of my eye I could see him laughing and looking in my direction with his colleagues. I'm giving this MAC two stars ONLY because of the one positive experience I had. I really love M.A.C. Their quality is amazing and I love their selection. I have to say that I wasn't pleased with the customer service. I wanted to try some eyeshadows to see what they looked like on, but I had to suggest it. I guess I'm not used to that because the people at Ulta automatically suggest trying everything on. She did a good job applying it, and I do think their products are worth the money. But for how much you spend on their products, they should be a little more willing to let you try it on! read more

Went in today to return my mac prolong wear concealer and accidentally brought in a wrong receipt. I kindly told the cashier that I'm a rewards member and asked if he could look up my transaction that way. He refused. Sephora is able to look up my transactions through my Sephora VIB account and has NEVER given me a problem returning or exchanging my merchandise. read more

This store has all sorts of makeup. The people here are very friendly and helpful. However, I do not like the makeup here. The place is very dark, so what you usually like in the store does not ending up looking the same outside of the store. But the return policy here is great. They will take anything back that you are not satisfied with-- even if its used! read more

I did not have an appointment but walked in last Saturday morning and Jen was ready to assist me. She was very personable and I enjoyed her company along with my makeup! Most of the people in this store are rude. My sister and I were never greeted we were in the store for 15min. Before I asked an employee for help, he started to help and walked away to help someone else. I asked another employee for help and again he walked away. I then found my own colors and asked a third employee to help me get them! My sister and I have shopped at this store for over 10 years and have spent hundreds of dollars! I walked into a Mac store for the first time today. Honestly, I saw a few youtubers raving about the products. I met Pierre. He Didnt push a single thing and let me browse, but then I realized I was in unchartered territory so I begged for help. This guy was amazing and sweet and hilarious! He Didnt put me down on the blemishes I had, showed me EXACTLY what foundation and setting powder I needed, and I got a brush n was on my way! My fiance nearly cried when he saw the $104 dollar bill, but I had the biggest smile, I honestly knew I got truly great products and I won't go back unless Pierre is there cuz he was absolutely perfect. He Didnt stress buying a lot, n I really aim to go back for highlight powder n bronzer this week. Sweet people, super friendly! Made my day!!! read more

first i must start by aking other than a womans wed what is the most important day for her to look good on before that? Her engagement photos! i made the mistake of making my appt for makeup for this important day at the mac in nordstrom. Well i came early to my 2;30 appt because i wanted to make sure ample time to chat to the artist and still be out by 3;30.but i was shoo'd away because they were too busy. Then i came back 20 min later at my appt time and no one was able to help me :(.i was told my girl was running 10 min behind after about 15min i told a girl i need to be out by 3'30 due to my engagement photos appt time in Chicago at 4;30! I was given no apology and only told another girl will start me until my rep showed up. At about 3;10 the girl was still not there and i was ready to leave with just primer on but the original rep decided to step in and help because she felt bad. She ended up really being nice and i guess was stressed because this girl who my appt with was supposed to come in at 12;30! When the girl finally showed up it was amost hour and half later than my scheduled time (around 3;45). By this time i was already almost done and the girl moved on to help the other appt that was waiting. I got out around 4;15 and luckily my fiance was able to grab our clothes and pick me up and our photographer was ok with us being late. We flew to Chicago and were only 30 min late, but to say it didn't put extra stress on me and my fiance and damper and otherwise great day would be a lie.bottom line don't go to mac if you need to be somewhere on time. read more

I am a complete MAC addict and I love this store. They consider me a regular at this store, lol. They have always been nice and friendly ever before I went regularly. I was speaking with one of them once and made a comment of how I was going out tonight and she pulled me aside and asked what kind of makeup I wanted to wear. I didn't have anything on that day. Adele (I think that is how you spell it) is the best , as is Agata, Franklin, and there are a couple more I just LOVE, but I can't remember there names. I bring in the pallets and they help me decide which eyes shadows will compliment my existing collection. When they are swamped, I just wait a little and come back because it is worth it. I've had one not so fantastic experience there, and it was when they were crowded. So if you have the time, wait. It is totally worth it. read more

I just want to say that I have been using M.A.C for the past 10 years, and have been to a dozen or more locations across the US & out of the country (pro, free standing store, and dept. stores), and let me say, my visit to this location was not lacking in anything. EVERYONE looked the "MAC PART", and the store was busy yes, but all the artists were dealing with the craziness well. Not to mention having the BEST time with each other & there customers. The artist I was working with that day (Lizbeth??? I think) was GREAT, she made me feel like I was her best friend, she showed me some new things with some brushes that I already had. After working with her, not only did I look beautiful, but I new I would be able to duplicate the look on my own in the future. This is my favorite M.A.C location in the Chicago land area!!! read more
