I am elated to write a review for a happening little joint in historic downtown Grants Pass, OR. Today was my 4 th visit to MaMosa's in the 2 weeks they have been open. In the past I have tried some of the more comfort food designed dishes , like the chicken and waffle! Hello, Amazing! So today I decided to dabble on the lighter side of the menu selecting the fruit, yogurt and granola dish with coffee and of course a delectable MaMosa to sip on. As usual this little cafe rocked my word, with it's fresh ingredients and local energy! This is a cool, hipster place that is great for Grants Pass. It's small inside but there is seating outside. They staff is very friendly and make a big deal every time they open a champagne bottle for their signature mimosa drinks. The menu is FUN. I tried the lunch special - bbq chicken with a jalapeno cream cheese in a wrap. YUM. My companion had the BLT. It's was all wonderful. Such a great, fun, unique place. Food is really good fresh high quality ingredients! Really good brewed coffee also which is nice. I ordered the huevos rancheros it was so good! The service could be much better, we arrived at 8 am the first customer of the day and it took over 30 minutes to get our food we ordered 5 entrees so not a big party. The waitstaff aren't necessarily attentive I would say they aren't working for tips and are satisfied with just ok service. Overall a good meal a little high priced about $7 to $12 a plate but again good quality food There was a miscommunication about one of the things we ordered and the server did comp our coffee so a kudos on that. A final note I was disappointed that nothing was said or done to the couple that brought their German Shepard off leash in the outdoor seating. The dog didn't have a service vest and did wander until its owner called it back a few times; since when are pets allowed in restaurants? read more

This place is awesome! Organic non-gmo food, local and really tasty combinations. I had the homemade biscuit sandwich with thick bacon - soo good. The bacon was delicious. My husband got the homemade rye toast with his classic two egg breakfast, super good! Definitely worth a breakfast stop. Lots of menu items, and caters to vegan/vegetarians too. I think it's important to mention the size of the place. It is a very small place and, even though we were able to be seated, those behind us had to wait, some quite a while. We shared our table. On busier days, they may run out of some dishes. That would be the only down side though. I had the veggie omelette and it was excellent. A small thing - the topping cheese was manchego and I realize just how tired I was of the standard cheddar. Very nice. Spouse had stuffed French toast and that too was very good. Coffee was tasty, but self serve and less than lukewarm. Food was average in quality. My husband had the hash which was watery from the potatoes and his poached eggs cooked hard. I had the coconut rice porridge which was actually quite good. The server was polite, but slow and really seemed like she could care less. To top it off, the restaurant was so small and crowded. With no waiting area, a group of locals stood over our table, greeting folks all over the restaurant and having an ongoing conversation about their new poodle with the table behind me. We had to endure every loud detail, and it drowned out our own ability to converse. The whole experience was disappointing. Left and stopped a couple of blocks away at an Organic Coffee Roaster to get a decent hot cup of coffee before hitting the road. read more

Waited a long time to sit outside, We were seated in direct sun. Waited even longer for over priceed, small portion of food. There was nothing on menu that was not grease filled, bread, sugar or otherwise unhealthy. Our experience was not good and expensive. The dogs that the establishment allows in were barking. When we want hot sun, barking dogs, expensive, unhealthy, small portions,,heartburn and have a lot of time to waste we will return to Ma Mosa's for another hot, unhealthy, annoying, expensive, unfilling meal that takes forever. read more

It's seems to be quite the hip little joint. It was a bit of a wait considering we stopped for lunch during a 12hr road trip.(about an hour) I ordered the waffle and chicken. I also got the lemonade. I found the lemonade to be a little to tart for my taste and found myself putting sugar into my drink. I expected this because it is freshly squeezed. i ate there for the first time today WITH FRIENDS. Service was mediocre (she did not pay attention to coffee or water refills). Outdoor seating was rather nice.. but...Food was terrible. Scrambled eggs (dry) biscuit drenched in something that soaked through to the bottom.. did not taste like butter, latke that was also very greasy to the point of oozing when touched with a fork. I really want to give this restaurant a good review - but I can't. This place has heart but I never got service! This is the second time I have left after waiting more than 15 minutes outside in the heat (86 degrees today, hotter before) and never getting an offer of water, a menu...or having a single word spoken to me by a waiter. It was 1 p.m., they weren't busy - less than half full. I don't know about inside, but staffing on the patio seems to be non-existent. I have had 1 very good salad at Ma Mosa's. I had to wait an hour for it after ordering. I was hoping after the kitchen expansion last month service and the arrival of food would be more timely. Not so much. read more

We accidentally came across this place on a Tuesday afternoon, and as supporters of organic and ethical farming as well as good beer, we were very excited to find this place. We asked for a vegan burrito (not on the menu), and the chef went nuts, packing it full of deliciousness. There was a good variety of local brews and ciders which was quite enjoyable as well. We've been visiting a number of small Oregon towns lately and have been starved for good quality vegan options, but we're now satiated. It was relatively small, and I could see that being a problem during busier times, but we didn't have to care about that. I ordered the peppery steak bennie, it was one of the specials for the day. Served on an English muffin with hollandaise and country potatoes.. not great but definitely not bad.. the worst part was the service.. We waited 2 hours!! Not a place to come to if your hungry or with impatient individuals.. I doubt I will be back. A complimentary mamosa should be given for such the long waits.. maybe even get us buzzed so we wouldnt remember the agonizing time I spent glaring at the other patrons dishes. read more

As a recent transfer from San Francisco I've been on the look out for places for Brunch. I found this funky little place NW E St, it reminded me of places I would have brunch in the Haight, North Beach or Polk Gulch. Great hang over food with Big Ass Mosa's, the only thing missing was a shot of Fernet Branca. Which I remedied by dropping of a bottle after having eaten. read more

Yay for vegan options! The place doesn't have much room but we managed to snag a seat outdoors. The staff is super friendly and the menu has some great options such as a delicious grilled cheese and fruit for kids, a marinated tofu sandwich and a homemade veggie burger. My son, his girlfriend and I recently visited Grants Pass and had a wonderful lunch at MaMosa's.... Everything tasted garden fresh and the serving sizes were large. We each chose a different mimosa, and all of them were delicious. Our server was adorable and attentive...we would definitely make this a regular stop if we lived in the area. First visit was on Nov. 28, 2012, and absolutely fell in love with the place! Great food, Fun atmosphere, OK, but friendly service. Couldn't wait to return! Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012- the infamous second visit. Greeted by a male waiter w/ red, thinning hair, probably early 30's, kind of a bad attitude (my wife says terrible...). Got our menu's and water OK, then waited for our waiter to return. After 10 minutes, I walked over and told him that we were ready to order. He stated " we don't want to overload the kitchen". There were seven people in the restaurant! A few minutes go by, and he moseys over and takes our order. We order the same meals as we did the first time, we liked them so much. Sausage and eggs for me, Huevos rancheros for my wife. Alright! Can't wait! Food arrives in a reasonably timely manner, and we dig in. Totally different experience! My eggs were watery and undercooked, my sausage burnt on on side and flavorless, my potatoes seemed to be reheated from the day before. My wife's dish had no Salsa(this is huevos rancheros, remember), and tasted slopped together, and just not good. Too bad- the place showed great promise, but far too inconsistent... read more

Tempted by the positive yelp reviews of this website I wandered to MaMosa's for a leisurely Sunday brunch. There are 2 positives to this story- the atmosphere while busy is welcoming and the menu has healthy options that would be difficult to get at a chain resturant. The menu and the chalkboard wall are very detailed- or so I thought. I decided ordering the special for the day- Poached Steelhead wrap. Given that the description of the wrap was detailed down to the radishes on the caulkboard I requested no asparagus and assumed that there would be no other additions, boy was I wrong. The food took 70 minutes to recieve. I was initially ok with the wait, they had to poach that steelhead afterall and there was a fun enough vibe and good iced tea to keep me occupied. About 45 minutes into my wait the server came back to me to explain that my wrap came with a side. She had forgotten all of the sides but came back with 2 options-wild rice with chickpeas and latka tatertots. I ordered the first option without asking for elaboration- again wrong idea. When the food finally arrived I was a little taken aback by what I saw- chickpea and rice "salad" and a wrap with what looked like can salmon in mayonnaise. Giving the food the benefit of the doubt I took a bite of each- again wrong idea. The "salad" had giant pieces of red onion and tomatoes. Yay for a whole mouth full of red onions that will blow out your entire pallette. The steelhead tasted like it looked- so fishy and slimy that it ruined the texture of everything else in the wrap. I wasnt upset by that point, I was mildly irritated but didnt eat anything else and decided Id bring it up to the server when she came back- but she didn't. We finally flagged her down and asked for a check- she asked how the food was and I explained the issue, she took the food, the check and my credit card- she came back with my credit card and asked if they could make me anything else. I declined because I didnt have another hour to wait for food. I said it was ok and then went to fill out the credit card slip and noticed that they still charged me for the wrap- so now I had no wrap and was still out the 12 bucks! I mentioned to her that I would have appreciated her removing the wrap since I didnt eat it and she told me that it was aginst their policy to refund. My final issue arose when she gave me the credit card reciept- I always ask for an itemized reciept at resturants, her solution to this issue was to give me a guestcheck filled out in giant sharpie. I was so willing to put up with all of the issues with the food and the service that I hadnt expected to deal the rudeness. I decided that I would just call today and speak to the manager until I opened up their Facebook page and saw a post Sunday: a picture of a poached steelhead wrap with wild rice and chickpea salad without asparagus.... the caption said "Yummy". read more

I was pretty disappointed. Staff was friendly and the service good but my meal was WAY overpriced. I think $14 plus tip for scrambled eggs, a cup of coffee, jerky rather than bacon, & 1/4 cup of fruit is excessive. There are much better places to eat in GP for a fair price. read more

What a great surprise to find this little gem. An inspired and creative menu. Fresh locally-sourced food, impeccably prepared. And a friendly and attentive staff. My lunch - a sandwich of blackened steelhead on a house-made torpedo roll - was perfectly seasoned, moist and generous. My companion's carrot soup was silky smooth and bright. I had breakfast here on what was only their sixth day of being open and every seat was taken. This is a small, cozy breakfast and lunch spot of the sort you would expect to find in the trendier neighborhoods of Portland or San Francisco, yet it's nestled into one of the neat old brick buildings in downtown Grants Pass. The menu shows a lot of creativity and imagination in the use of fresh produce and herbs plus there is a large chalkboard for showing daily specials. I ordered a breakfast sandwich called "The Favorite" which is bacon, egg, onion, spinach and a tasty chili-like sauce on a large muffin served with great country style potatoes. Delicious and filling. A real plus are the herb salts available on each table; I really liked the chipotle salt on the potatoes. This is not 'fast food '! The place is small and they're busy so go when you have time to wait for healthy and hearty fresh cooking. You'll enjoy the atmosphere, chatting with your fellow diners and the personalities of the amazing young ladies responsible for what I think is a great addition to downtown Grants Pass. read more

On Sunday, November 11 my friend and I experienced the most horrible restaurant service either of us have ever had. Extraordinarily rude...this from a male waiter in his early thirties with reddish, thinning hair. My friend arrived about three minutes before me and sat at the window bar because all the tables were full. As several groups were leaving my friend asked how long it would be to wait for a table and was loudly told "This is your seat." she was very taken aback. When I arrived I joined her at the window seat. Shortly after another couple arrived and were told to sit next to us at the window. Meanwhile, none of us have yet been given menus or water. Other patrons kindly began gesturing that they were leaving and we could have their table. I made eye contact with the waiter and mouthed and gestured asking if we could now move to the open table. No kidding, he loudly SHOUTED across the restaurant, "That is your seat." (emphasis on THAT). You could have heard a pin drop and all eyes turned to me. I felt my face grow red and didn't know how to respond, but didn't think I could just meekly ignore his rudeness. I walked over to him, he was at the table toward the back kitchen, and said, "I'm sorry I didn't understand you?" he said again, "That is your table". I responded that my friend and I would prefer to sit at a table since there was one open. He said, "Lots of people are waiting for a table". I said, "True, and we were here first, and my friend asked for a table when she arrived". He says, "No she didn't". Then "well, you can sit here when I have time to clean it off". So I thanked him and took the table. The other couple also moved to a table. A third couple sat at the window bar. They eventually just walked out because they never did get any menus or water. The other patrons were giving us sympathetic glances, but were all getting exceedingly rude service. I never got my tea water, the food took forever, the coffee - which we we told to get ourselves, was gone, and we literally waited 25 minutes for him to pick up our credit cards. I am very sad to write this review. I was soooo happy to have a great breakfast place in Grants Pass and really enjoyed my first visit. At that time the service was sketchy, but the waitress was very nice. This male waiter will single handedly bring the ruin of this place. I will never return and my friend, for whom this was her first visit, will have nothing but poor things to say about it. It is really too bad, but it is absolutely unacceptable to be treated in such a manner. read more

I have absolutely no problem giving this place 5 stars. yeah so there was a couple times that the food took a few extra minutes to come out, and yeah they've had a couple kinks they've had to work out with oblivious waiters/waitresses but it doesnt' even matter cause the food is amazing, the ingredients are quality and local and the owners just appear to be really nice gals and I want to support them in their dream/business to feed people delicious, soul filled food. EVERYTHING is good (well one time I had the chicken tinga tacos and decided I wouldn't order them again, but I've dined with people who ordered them since then and liked them. so... maybe it was a bad day when I ordered them?...) best biscuits and gravy ever!!!!!!! (both the mushroom and sausage are delicious and they will give you both if you ask) the biscuits aren't the typical piles of dough, they're flakey, buttery, fresh house made biscuits of fatty heaven (I also recommend getting their simply delicious breakfast sandwich open-faced over one of the biscuits).... the eggs are ALWAYS perfectly cooked... the hot steak salad- YUM "hash it over" sooooo good!!! (especially with the rosemary garlic salt that's on the table for you to enjoy) The soup du jour has been good every time I've gotten it and the cheese and pickled vegetable platters are always a nice addition to the brunches I convince all my friends to attend at ma mosas. (not to mention straight up mimosas.. pitchers of them.. duh!) ok ok, to make a long story short, my friends and I drive 30 minutes to go out to eat here at least once a week and it's the place I take my visiting, out of town friends to when I want to show off how good I eat. My boyfriend and I went to Ma Mosa's on a whim. It was a hot day and we had been walking around town and we stopped in for a bite to eat. My boyfriend and I were treated like we were lesser class citizens or something. I don't know if it was because we had a little sweat on our foreheads or what, but the waitress was really snooty and I got the impression that she thought that we were bums or something. My boyfriend and I decided on what to order. He was going to get the "Po' Boy" and I was going to get the "Staple." They didn't have the ingredients to make either one! She said they didn't have the sauce to make the "Staple," and that they didn't have the meat for the Po' Boy. Instead of the roast beef, she suggested that he could use corned beef hash! WTF??? We asked for a few more minutes to look over the menu again, but we ended up leaving and going down the street to a better place. Some other side notes about Ma Mosa's: they have no air conditioning, there food/menu doesn't make any sense, the waiters behind the counter were complaining about not getting any tips (this is not good to do in earshot of customers), and it just has a bad vibe. We were driving through on our way home from vacation. Found some good reviews on this place and noticed they offered tofu. The wait was only about 15 min on a Saturday mid morning, which was nice. Hostess was chipper and polite! We are seated at a table and when the waiter comes to take our order, I ask a few questions regarding tofu as a substitute for eggs, he replies that the tofu is really a substitute for meat...I reply that I'm vegan and would like it instead of eggs, and am left with a blank stare and some ramble about how he's always wanted to tell a Vegan that he doesn't understand why we are vegan because we are missing out on so much food, I suppose at this point I would have known it was a place I shouldn't be at. Ordered a few sides, including a house made tofu soyrizo, there as so much vinegar in this I couldn't even eat it. My partner, who is not vegan, ordered a corned beef hash, which was basically home fries with roast beef pulled apart.... The only redeeming quality was that when the waiter brought our check and asked if my soyrizo was okay I told him it has too much vinegar and he took that off our bill. read more
