The texture of the tortilla in the tacos was my favorite- they're on the thicker side and taste fresh. The red salsa was more on the thicker side and semi-mild in spice. Service was pretty quick! The inside is small and not a lot of room to eat inside but really cute with these beautiful tiles (see picture) read more

My girl's food was good, her food portion was good. On the other hand my food was poorly prepared. Didn't really taste like my much and the chips in my chilaquiles were stale, food portion was very small, it came out in a small to-go box. Paid 65$ for the 2 of us and it was mid read more

I was born and raised in Southern California, so I've had my share of great tortillas--and let me tell you, Maiz has THE BEST ONES I'VE EVER HAD! The person taking our order was super knowledgable and answered all questions. Hubby had a fresh halibut tosada and I had three tacos, filled to the brim with beef. Marinated radishes and red onion inside. Honestly, I could have just eaten the tortilla itself--it was that yummy! This place might be hard to find--it's across the street from the original Pike Market, and next door to the first Starbucks. It's very small but very clean, with just a few stools to sit on. The stars were with us--we got in at the right time and were able to sit next to each other at the window seats. We also shared a made-on-the-premises flan, not too sweet, just perfect. And whenever I see a guava flavor Jarritos soda, I have to have one. So, I did. :) read more

My daughter and I went to Maíz after my initial tasting and picked up an assortment of goodies. Walking across the street, we sat on the low wall overlooking the Sound to eat. It was perfect people watching, as we ate some of the best Mexican street food I've ever had. It reminded me of what I tasted in the Condesa and Roma neighborhoods of Mexico City. Maíz will be one of my locals, and how fortunate it is just a few blocks from home. I stopped by Maíz (Correct pronunciation is myeez I guess) to pick up a couple of chicken tamales to go. My intent was just to try them, since I liked the concept of the place. They tasted wonderfully, and I was pleased by my decision to just pick something up, even though I wasn't hungry. Of course, it is now the beginning of May 2022, and the market will be a zoo because of all the cruise ships coming to town and the normal tourist crowds. I'll go early, during the week, to try Myeez's other offerings. Maíz is a great addition to the market. read more

While walking along the strip of Pike Place market my family decided to split a yummy treat! We ordered the Chilaquiles and what phenomenal decision that was on my behalf! It was truly delicious the salsa and chips were be dry fresh. There was minimal seating area but the scenery and area around the market provides plenty of seating options to enjoy your food. The streets were packed but the customers for Maíz were steady and consistent! Glad to see they are doing well! They deserve it based on their delicious food! read more

Got some of their corn tortillas. Wow. I'm from Tucson, you know, the first North American city designated a UNESCO City of Gastronomy? Home to some of the best Mexican food in the country? These are freshly delicious. I highly recommend them. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs! read more

My friends and I made it around noon to Maiz and for some reason they were closing at noon. But the staff was nice and let us order before closing. We got the mix and match three tacos for $16 - I had the chicken taco. It was good but I had better taco at some other places. The shop interior is decorated with beautiful bright colors and it's a nice place to visit. read more

Not sure why this is rated as high as it is. The service was fine but everything is so overpriced and the food did not taste as fresh. Maybe I have high expectations on Mexican food. read more

The black bean tacos were decent. The beans were creamy but a bit bland. The salsa added a nice touch. The place was quiet and tidy

This place is very good. Definitely a little overpriced because of the location that it's in (next to the original Starbucks at pike place). The line is pretty slow moving, but worth it. The horchata drink and the tacos were both amazing. The taco filling flavors rotate every day, but I wish they had more options every day. The menu is very confusing you only see what the option are at the counter so that probably adds to why the line is so slow read more

As someone who grew up in Arizona, I'm always looking for spots to satisfy my Mexican food cravings. I kept seeing maiz on lists of best taco spots in Seattle, so when I was in the area, I was excited to try it out! The space is pretty small, with only room for maybe 10 people inside at a time (and only room for about 4 people to sit at the counter). When I first arrived, there was only one person working both the register and assembling orders, so things were a bit slow until another employee returned. I got the taco plate with tinga de pollo, ranchero beef, and pastor. I really enjoyed the flavors of the pastor and was super excited after my first bite, but I soon realized that the tortilla, although very fresh, was cold, which wasn't an enjoyable experience. If the tortilla was warmed I would've had no complaints! I thought the beef and chicken were just ok, but the house salsa was tasty as well. Overall I think it's definitely worth a stop to get the pastor tacos, and I'd be curious to try the tamales as well. read more

If you're in the mood for some Mexican food and looking for a new spot to try, you may have heard of this tortilleria that's been trending on social media and is being talked up by some prominent food bloggers in the area. However, based on my personal experience, I would have to disagree with the hype. I've visited this tortilleria twice now, and both times left feeling underwhelmed. While the flavors of the food were good, I wouldn't say that they were particularly memorable or standout in any way. On top of that, the serving sizes were disappointingly small, especially given the high price point - at $6 per taco, I expected a lot more food for my money. Expect 2-3 bites per taco. 3 wasn't enough to fill up this large man. One of the selling points of this tortilleria is supposed to be their housemade tortillas made with heritage masa, but to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference from any other taquerias I've visited. Overall, it seems like the only reason this place charges such high prices is that it's located at Pike Place Market and has become a bit of a tourist trap. If you're in the area and hungry, it's not the worst option, but if you're a local and have other tortilleria to choose from, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit this one. The food just isn't worth the high price point and lackluster serving sizes. read more

Although fairly busy on the weekends, the food is worth the wait! Nestled along Pike Place, Mail gives me taqueria in Mexico City vibes. It feels like walking into Mexico, especially with the more indigenous offerings like tlacoyos and huaraches. I personally working during their business hours on the weekdays, but have made it a habit of walking over from my place every other weekend. A must try if you love Mexican!! read more

The interior of this place is so cute and I decided to get a drink here instead of Starbucks next door! I got the champurrado. I personally like my champurrado thicker than the one here and I think they could make theirs thicker, but the flavor was on point! Super good. It's hard to find champurrado anywhere so it was awesome to find it in pike place! read more

Very good food and a cute inside but it is very small! Had no problems with the service, everyone is nice.

Explicitly came here looking for this place but still missed it due to the long Starbucks line. Highly recommend their food, I haven't had tacos this good since when I was back in San Diego. The folks there are also very helpful and friendly, they provided great recommendations not only for their menu items but also good spots to sit outside and where to get good coffee. Got their sopes as well, and while I can't speak to its authenticity they were fun to eat and had a delightful texture. read more

I ordered so much food from here I caused myself harm by eating it in one sitting because it was so delicious. If it's your first time and unsure what to get go for the tacos as they are super flavorful. The tamales are awesome too, but more subtle in flavor compared to the tacos. Don't let the Starbucks line deter you. Squeeze on through and get yourself to some awesome food! read more

Delicious authentic Mexican food. This was my first experience having a tlacoyo, the maíz was very delicious. The protein was very well seasoned, and there was a perfect amount of toppings. The salsa was also really good, but the food didn't need it. The decoration was also unique, tho seating is very limited. I'll be visiting every time I'm in the area. read more

Sunday 1pm on a beautiful day... massive line online front of Maiz, stretches almost to the corner of the block... for Starbucks! Skirt that crowd, step into the much shorter queue for Maiz and you'll get something so much better! The tortillas are fresh and tasty. The taco fillings were crazy good - we had birria, chicken and veggies and cannot tell you which was the best. Still hungry? Get a tamale. Unbelievably good - moist masa, profound corn flavor, killer puerco filling. This place isn't cheap but it is truly artisanal. Get in there! read more

Omg!! We happened upon this little gem while we were out and about. We are so glad we found it, their tacos were delicious, the meats were well prepared and seasoned. I always judge a place by their rice and beans and theirs didn't disappoint. I saved the best for last...their horchata is beyond on point. That's another thing I judge a place by and like I said theirs was on point. Give them a try and your stomach will thank me ;) read more

Stopped by here on my first day in Seattle and then went back three times and made a stop at Maiz Molino (their restaurant down the road). It's that good! The tamales were so good, you can't go wrong with any filling. The champurrado (hot corn, chocolate drink) was nice for those cold winter mornings. If you are in line for any other shops and need some food you definitely need to also stop by Maiz for a tamale or two. read more

These are the best tacos I've had in a very long time. I've been wanting to try out Maiz and it did not disappoint. They have a small but cheerful space right in the heart of the market. They have many options to try and I will be back for them all! Today I had the steak ranchero tacos and they were delicious - perfectly cooked and seasoned steak, delicious pickled onion, crunchy radish - it was good even without the salsa. I am a huge fan and this will probably be my go to lunch spot. Pro tip- they have 3 seats and a small counter, so plan to take your order to go. It is filled in a matter of a couple of minutes. read more

You had me at horchata latte! Exactly what we needed at Pike Place! Incredible, authentic tacos. The Machaca and Chicken Mole were delicious. We eat these tortillas by themselves, they are so good. Service is great and the staff are super friendly. If you don't know what to order, I recommend asking the person working at the counter. You won't be disappointed. The menu changes every day, so you'll have to ask to see what's available. Honestly, it's only a matter of time before the lines are as long as the other spots on the street. For now, we'll soak up the short lines and continue eating and drinking our way through the menu. read more
