I moved to Boston from L.A. five years ago, and spent the first two years trying out different stylists who never really gave me color/cuts I was happy with. I was relieved to find Michelle three years ago-she is the best stylist I've ever had on either coast. I've followed her from her previous location in the Prudential Center to Fenway where she started her own salon. Michelle is so knowledgable and professional, and takes time to listen and look at pics in order to have a good understanding of what you want to achieve. She also has amazing insight for colors, cuts, and styles that work well for her clients-a really important quality in a stylist. She is the only stylist I would trust with my hair. Also,I'm half Filipina so my hair color doesn't lift easily but Michelle's taken me from brown to platinum and somehow managed to keep my hair really healthy (she uses Olaplex I think). I get lots of compliments from strangers on both the color and the cut. So whether you're going for a big or subtle change to update your look, Michelle's your girl. Oh, and the space itself is beautiful-lots of natural light and local art on the walls. I had a wonderful experience with Yanizel this evening! The salon itself is clean, organized, and inviting, and the stylists make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. I'm new to Boston, so I was nervous about finding someone to work on my hair, and more nervous to make the drastic change I made. Yanizel didn't just give me a great pixie cut - she talked to me about my hair, my face, and the different possibilities of the cut before we got started. Any stylist can cut your hair, and most can cut it the exact way you want it cut. But Yanizel made sure that the cut I got looked on me the way I wanted it to look. I met Michelle when she was working at Escape Salon on Boylston Street. My stylist that I had for 4+ years relocated. I was scheduled with Michelle for the first time and loved her. She is so amazing. Attentive, patient, really listens to your needs and gives constructive feedback. She has such a great eye for color and let me tell you, she is a PERFECTIONIST! She isn't satisfied until things are flawless. We had been working to get rid of the brassy blonde my old stylist had plagued my hair with, and now it's completely gone. I went to check out M salon on a whim, mostly because it was close to my apartment and I was in desperate need of a haircut. I know I have difficult hair. It's curly, it frizzes and it can take some work to get it to behave. With the wrong type of cut it becomes a mess. Lucky for me Lauren was available and she did an amazing job giving me a cut that worked with my hair type while still giving me a style I absolutely loved. She gave me exactly what I wanted even though I was only able to give her very little direction. She later colored it a really complimentary red color and styled it nicely. I hadn't realized how little I liked the way my hair was until Lauren did it exactly how I really wanted it. I'm so glad I would this place and a new hair stylist! read more

Being a college student I always try to find ways to be frugal, and take some short cuts, which then led to me letting my roommate cut my hair! Not the brightest decision but a fun memory, I made an appointment for the next day with Max and I am very pleased with how it came out. I went in for just a cut and he took the time to ask me many questions about the type of cut I wanted, and made sure we were both on the same page, simple to say he gave my hair the refresh it desperately needed. Michelle at M Salon is very talented! I have been going to her for several years and I am so happy she opened this beautiful gem of a salon close to Fenway. I love the way she cuts and blowdrys my hair. No one blowdrys frizzy hair better than Michelle! Not only is she talented, she is genuine. I've been an M Salon fan since day 1. I used to live on Queensberry St. when M Salon first opened (years ago) and was so nervous to try a new salon. Since then, I haven't gone anywhere else. The pricing is so reasonable for the quality of service. Honestly it's the best kept secret. Michelle is the reason I went blonde and has made every tone work for me. She is so talented and I completely trust her (I drive from Somerville to get my hair done now). I recently moved to the area and have gone to M salon three or four times now. She is an amazing stylist. She was able to transform my hair from a terrible self dye job to a cool icy blonde bob. After a couple of treatments she then managed to get my color to a light gray which was my ultimate goal. Even though I have a lot of hair to work with and I was asking for a pretty challenging treatment, she was still kind, accommodating, and very generous with her time. Justin is AWESOME! First and foremost, I loved my hair cut and blow out!! My hair never looked so fab! He's super knowledgeable about hair care, maintenance and products and was so attentive in listening to my thin/fine hair concerns. Since I've been in Boston the last 8 years I've been looking for the right hair dresser and salon and I have finally found it! From the moment I walked in, I had a great experience. I was warmly greeted and just loved the decor! I went to Michelle for a cut and blow dry. She did such an amazing job!! I loved my cut and I have never had such a great blow dry! I recently moved to the area and tried M Salon because of the proximity, and I am so glad I did. My stylist is Jay, and I will keep going back to her as long as I stay in the area. Both times I've visited, Jay cut my hair exactly how I wanted, and I have never gotten so many compliments on a haircut. She is also such a sweet and funny person, it's fun to sit in her chair. Alena is the hairstylist that cuts my hair and I am never leave the salon disappointed! She makes sure she cuts my hair just the way I want it and when needed, she gives suggestions on what I should do with my hair. She even gives helpful tips on how to take care of my hair at home.
