M. Dyer Global - Packing - Movers Near Me - Pearl City, Hawaii

M. Dyer was contracted by the U.S. Military to pack and move my household goods. Three individuals were sent to my residence to complete the packing. During this process, numerous high-value items were stolen, including over 20 pairs of shoes (Nike, Jordan, Yeezy, etc.) and multiple pieces of designer clothing. Additionally, the movers forced entry into a locked briefcase and stole three checks from my checkbook. The company later claimed the briefcase damage occurred during transit; however, the damage clearly shows forced entry. One of the stolen checks was written and cashed fraudulently. I filed a claim with my bank, recovered the funds, and am currently pursuing criminal charges against the individual(s) responsible. I attempted to work with M. Dyer to resolve this matter, but the process has been extremely difficult. The movers intentionally failed to properly inventory my belongings, which has complicated the reimbursement process and appears to be a violation of required packing and documentation procedures. I strongly advise others to document their move thoroughly by taking photos and videos of their belongings and the movers themselves. Unfortunately, I did not do so and am now facing significant challenges obtaining reimbursement for my stolen property. Based on my experience, M. Dyer employs untrustworthy personnel and failed to uphold their professional responsibilities. I deeply regret using this company and would not recommend their services. read more

It's now been 90 days and PacGlobal Insurance has not paid out after accepting the settlement. M.Dyer Global has been working with PacGlobal Insurance for YEARS and if you look at the BBB for PacGlobal Insurance, they are filled with reviews of non-payment. The last communications from M.Dyer: "To provide further assistance, we will continue to liaise with PacGlobal on your behalf to expedite the settlement process. Our customer service team is here to support you, and we will ensure you receive timely updates." They haven't done anything to expedite the settlement process. "We recommend PacGlobal because they specialize in this niche and have a strong reputation for handling such claims." Utter nonsense. Once you dig in to PacGlobal's "reputation", you will find it is abhorrent due to non-payments after customers have accepted a payout. As a result, we will have to take this to court. I did two moves with Dyer and Sons now Dyer Global Movers in Pearl City. The second from Honolulu to Hilo was a disaster. The planning for the move in May 2024 was not well planned. For a move that cost over $16,000, they did not send a big enough truck to hold enough crates two days for this move and ended up repacking some of my goods in the street! and my Temperpedic mattress ended up being strapped to the roof of the truck. The worst thing was that they did not ship my two-draw metal file cabinet. I had clearly and repeatedly said everything in my home needed to be packed and shipped except the biggest appliances, Washer Dryer, Stove, Refridge. I did a walk through on three different day showing them everything to be packed and paid special attention to pointing out the file cabinet. When we unpacked in Hilo it was simply not there, though after many communications with Mr. Watanabe at Dyer who insisted it had been shipped and was in Hilo, he finally after weeks admitted that the the two movers were not reliable in reporting what they did with regard to the file cabinet. All my most important documents, career and financial of more than twenty years were in the file cabinet. I had to freeze my bank account and file a fraud alert with credit agencies--among many other onerous tasks. I wrote to Mr. Shipp, the CEO, of the company and he replied right away--two months ago--saying that they would investigate so this would not happen again to anyone else, and they would make it right with me, find a solution. Though I wrote twice after that, I've never heard another word. It has been months. They clearly are ignoring this situation, and have no real intention of finding a solution as they promised me. Jan 2024 Called several companies and we were impressed with this one from the moment we heard the recording on the phone until our final consultation. Our consultant was Steve Watanabe. We are civilians not military and we're unsure about what we should ship to the mainland. Steve took his time, gave us a variety of options, and explained the pros/cons, and cost of each. In summary, he made our final decision of what to do and how to do it much easier. Now after over 2 months of dealing with mold (positive test that M Dyer, and Jana Paz tried to keep from happening) caused by this company we still have no solution other than packing it all back up to be put on our lanai. We asked for the moldy items to be removed and they brought them back and left them in our house!!! And they think it's ok!!! Jana Paz couldn't have been more useless and disrespectful in this process all while defending the crew that did this and the company (which was hilarious to hear because of how stupid it sounded). She should probably go back to Five Guys or at least somewhere she doesn't deal with actual people because it's sad how she deals with people and situations let alone ours. The move in situation that we are still dealing with is so egregious that Navy JAG HQ is involved. "Anthony Shipp" replied to this original review, but Anthony Shipp has never said a word to us or tried to help. As a Marine, he should be ashamed. It's pretty sad that a company treats US military families this way and gets away with it, while they laugh about it. When the president of the company and his minions do the things they do they shouldn't just lose their contract they should lose their US military shipping license. I truly feel any company on this island would be better suited to move military families than M Dyer. Call Royal Hawaiian or absolutely anyone else because M Dyer will destroy your house, your possessions and then treat you like garbage for wanting them to do the right thing. My items were packed just last week for my move to NM. At least on this end, the movers were great! If you ever need to move anything within or from Hawaii these guys are the best. From the in-home estimate with Steve, to the final packing and loading by Zander and his crew (Naka, Wade, Derick, Zack, and Aaron), they all did an outstanding job! Steve answered all my questions when doing my in-home estimate and was willing to give advice when asked. On moving day, Zander and his crew had to deal with difficult, inflexible condo rules that made this a stressful situation, but they handled everything and did it with a sense of pride. Even under a time crunch with a lot to pack and load, they did not take shortcuts. My furniture pieces were well packed and they took the time they needed to do things right. On top of all that, the crew got along well and seemed to have fun along the way! They were a great group!. They really helped ease some of my stress and tension on that day. All I can hope for now is that my items arrive at my new home in a timely manner and the moving crew there is just as good as these guys. read more

As a military veteran and retiree, we have moved over sixteen times in the last 36 years. M Dyer and Sons was the very WORST move that we have ever experienced...this was supposed to be our last move to the U.S. and it was a total nightmare!!! As soon as our cargo left the islands, M Dyer and Sons failed miserably to communicate and deliver our 27 crates of household goods. Over 40% of our items were either destroyed by fire, saturated with water or considered non-usable or broken. Their President (Shipp) and VP (Paz) continually ignored our emails and phone calls to resolve this issue. The Freight Forwarder had no clue on the status of our delivery once it arrived at the port of Long Beach, CA. Recommend that the government and all Service Component Contracting Officers do their due diligence when selecting and awarding Transportation Companies to move our Service Members and DOD Civilians' Household Goods overseas or to the continental US. This was the most stressful and disappointing experience ever for any military, DOD or civilian to have to go through. We wanted to support a local company, but customers need to be prudent when selecting a company to move your precious and sentimental valuables and items to its final destination outside of Hawaii. In hindsight, we should have chosen the national brand Moving and Transportation Companies that we have used in our previous 15 relocations. I'm still on the Honolulu end, going to the mainland, so this review will reflect my experience here and I'll update once my items are received. On the Honolulu end, Dyer and Sons couldn't be better! The sales staff were patient and helpful in answering my questions, Tate came over to do a walk-through and gave two different estimates (the "take lots" and "take a little"), and the two movers who came to pack my things did a painstaking job disassembling furniture, wrapping everything in paper, and packing things tightly in boxes. (Note for those who like bubble wrap: they supply the boxes, tape, and paper; any bubble wrap or additional supplies are provided by the customer.) The movers are extremely professional and helpful. They make moving so easy. Update forthcoming in 6 weeks, and so far, 5 stars hands down! *** OK, so, update. My things won't arrive for 7 weeks and it's a West Coast move. The delivery date is way later than I expected. I'm not sure I can blame Dyer for this because they work with Accelerated Forwarders for the mainland segment. So I think the problem lies elsewhere. However, it's useful for Yelp readers to know that the 3-6 week window is no guarantee. I have to buy an air mattress and camp out in an empty house, and I'm disappointed about that. I thought a West Coast location would take less time. I'll update again when I see the condition of my belongings upon arrival. read more

If you had questions, so do they. Just be sure when calling any movers. Be ready to have all your questions answered and be ready to answer theirs. I wish I could give separate reviews for the office employees and the delivery team. Let's start with the good Our delivery team was headed by Zander. He and the other four men were THE BOMB DOT COM. A huge huge thanks goes out to the guys. They were very professional, but also lots of fun. Our entire house is on the second story and they diligently moved everything up there on a hot day and never put anything down without first asking where it belonged. To other customers, I suggest that you start the day by offering iced coffee and water to the crew, is possible. They were thankful, willingly accepted and it got us off to the right start. The less than par review is for the office. Apparently M Dyer and Sons didn't receive all of our crates at the same time. The majority of the load took 90 days to get from Alabama to Honolulu, which I do not blame MD&S for. I had a problem when the last crate was misplaced and it time them a week to locate it and retrieve it. I made an appointment for a delivery for Monday and scheduled time off work only to find out that the appointment was never logged AND they still had to retrieve the last crate. The whole experience of scheduling the delivery was absolutely a nightmare. Not only did it take too much time, but the particular employee that I was dealing with was not helpful or friendly; she even tried rushing me off the phone the first few times I called. It wasn't until I started calling the office daily insisting on an update that I was able to have my things delivered. Then it took 7 more days. As of now I give a 1 star even before the movers show up. The lady who answers the phone every time I call is always rude and short with me. She seems like she just hates her job. I called today requesting to have a courtesy call 20-30 min ahead of time. The Rude lady that I was speaking with replied "they normally call when they arrive and since you're military you have to be available from 8-5 anyways." Thinking to myself...Duh lady I know this. I chose M. Dyer & Sons for my move from Las Vegas, NV to Hawaii. When the furniture arrived, (2) of my dining chairs were broken, dining no table was scratched in several areas, the bed frame was broken, night stands and dressers were scratched. Actually, every piece of furniture was damaged. The movers here in Hawaii said that it was the way that the Las Vegas movers had packed. I call back and say "hey- I have tried to get ahold of someone for a move to the mainland .... Can someone help me?" Leave another message. No call back. So. If this is any indication on how communication will be for a move of a home and business. I think I'll pass. So the rating is for the absolute disregard and no return calls. Went with Royal Hawaiian. All is well. If you guys don't want to do a move or something. Just say you can't. Leaving someone hanging for a week or more with no communication is the height of unprofessional. read more

I used M. Dyer to move from Oregon to Hawaii. They used a Lile in Oregon to pack up my belongings. They used Pac Global Insurance to insure my belongings. Lile was terrible. They packed pictures flat instead of on the side, they jumbled my bedspread, shoes and other items into a huge cardboard box and did not pack them properly. They were not wrapped in paper and were put in loose. The M. Dyer movers on the Hawaii end were acceptable. They brought in the boxes, unpacked a few and took out the trash. No problem there. Pac Global insurance was terrible. I filed my claim on 7/29/2021 and the check was not sent until 01/08/2022. (So they say, I have yet to receive it.) It was a simple claim for less than $200. They give themselves 60 business days to process the claim, that's BUSINESS days and they do not count weekends or holidays. Unbelieveable. I can't recommed M. To preface this review, know that we probably asked a dozen different companies for estimates and these guys just stood out. From the beginning, they were super responsive AND professional. Our service rep, Tate Matthews was very thoughtful and even "stopped by" to check on progress the day of our move. Mind you, their based in Aiea, we're in Manoa, and he had to head out to Waianae afterwards so we really appreciated that extra touch! With regards to the crew - we were also pleasantly surprised and so impressed with our crew -Will and Val!! Big ups to these guys!! I've moved several times in my life and never had an experience quite like this. Moving is always kind of a stressful time but we knew we'd be in good hands once we started talking to them and they made the day fun and fly by for us!! Right off the bat, they were extremely professional! They greeted us right away with smiles, did a walk through of the property to ask about the details, and got started right away! We recently made a big move from Oahu to Arizona. Our realtor recommended M Dyer Global and we are very glad we followed her advice. Steve was super responsive and when I asked for the "A" team he sent Daniel, Lee & Val... they were indeed the "A" team! We are now unpacked and everything came thru without a scratch! They took great care of our household goods and Val even made a special box for my wreaths... my hula instruments and our musical instruments were well secured and all the china, crystal and pottery arrived intact. Because before I spend money, or trust anyone with my stuff, I investigate the company/mover with a microscope, look at them right side up, upside down, held up to a mirror and M Dyer passed muster time and time again. What's more, my 9, yes I said 9 "lift vans" or wooden crates came half way around the world, M Dyer coordinated every mile, and not so much as a single dish was damaged. Fantastic experience with this company. Third time I've had the pleasure of one of their teams moving us, both across the island, receiving our things on island and packing us out to depart the island. Team was very courteous, well mannered and dressed as a professional packing company (casual, but clean and neat). They didn't expect to be fed by us (though we do that anyway) and were very appreciative of it. If they had a question, they asked right away instead of letting it delay the pack. They took into account all our manias (minimizing the break down of furniture where they could, asking us how to minimize the pain at the other end when they couldn't accommodate us) and really just taking care of business in a rapid, careful and convenient way.
