I stopped in here with my family on the way to the Oregon coast. I cannot attest to the food's quality because I only had coffee, but the food looked great. The coffee was delicious. My family members each had a cappuccino that they said was really great, and I had a very rich, tasty cold brew. Both baristas were very polite. One greeted me with a smile, and the service was what you'd expect from a coffee shop, very speedy. The café is right off the road, but once inside, it didn't look that way. It was very quiet, with a chill vibe, and I had ample, nice outdoor seating. Next time I am driving through this area. I will definitely stop again. read more

I ordered the breakfast sandwich and honeybee latte with almond milk and my partner ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a hot matcha with almond milk. Overall, I thought the food was great! I think I would've appreciated adding some greens or avocado to my sandwich. Nonetheless, it was yummy! As for her sandwich, it tasted yummy and felt lighter. Stopped by this cute coffee shop! It had a very welcoming atmosphere. The employees greeted us immediately although they were busy. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll latte, it was not as sweet! Perfect balance of sweetness and bold espresso taste. My favorite was the cranberry white chocolate chip cookie. It was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. The cinnamon roll was good but nothing extraordinary. I would come by again next time I'm in town. read more

Got an iced latte and breakfast sando. Food and drink were good nothing above what I'd consider normal quality for any decent coffee shop. Main reason for the lower rating opposed to a 4 star is it took 45min to get my breakfast sando and they call out your name inside leading to just waiting around the cashstand. When checking on the status of my sando they would just say they are still working on it so was very slowly drinking my coffee so I'd still have some by the time my food came. A couple next to me went through like 3 cups of drip and still hadn't gotten their food when I left (so probably an hour wait until I left). The past two times I've gone here have been great the food was delicious and the customer service was amazing. When I went today I ordered a breakfast sandwich and requested that ham be added then the employee said that she can't do that although the past two times I've went they did it for me. When I told her that she eventually did it for me but before said "whoever did that isn't allowed to do that" which doesn't make sense because I was able to before. I got my breakfast sandwich with ham added just to see that there were no eggs on it. This overall experience was just so frustrating! read more

I stopped in here for some breakfast a couple of weeks ago and was highly disappointed. I ordered the florentine omelet and got a side of toast with it for an extra charge. I've been here before and tried a few different things and they are always delicious, this visit wasn't any different. The service was excellent and I love the inside dining area. My issue is with the toast. I paid $1 extra to add a slice of toast and I got the smallest piece of bread and it wasn't even toasted, just check the photo. I get it, it's only a buck but I still paid for it and got something very disappointing and underwhelming. Will I come back, of course. Will I add toast to my order next time? Probably not. Step up and order at the counter. Lattes came out, medium in a mug, large in a to go cup. Makes me think they ran out of large mugs. When we ordered, cashier stated to put in our cell number and they would text us when our order was ready. We found seating outside and waited, and waited. Finally, walked back in and our order was sitting on the counter. I grabbed it walked out. Wife stated her toast was missing. I went back in. Cashier said, they forgot about it and he would bring it out to us. We waited. I went back in and it was sitting on the counter. Food was okay. Chorizo breakfast burrito, Denver omelette, chocolate coconut scone. Burrito had good, great flavor, omelette was basic, as it should be, and scone was really delicious. Disappointing experience! Our family arrived here at 2:45 on a Sunday and my husband and kids ordered while I waited outside with our dog. I went in right after and was told they close at 3:00. It was 2:52. The website says 5:00 and the signs in their store say 4:30. Either way, it wasn't 3:00. The owner came out to refund us for my husbands/kids meal as I would have been the only one not able to eat with them. It made no sense that they said the kitchen closes at 3:00 and wouldn't even serve us when it wasn't 3:00. They made the food - and weren't even offering to give my husbands his drink as an I'm sorry. This was the owner. Which is a shame because we have been there so many times and it was recommended to us originally by someone who personally knows the owner. We left feeling so uncared for and so bummed as we will no longer return to a place we once enjoyed. Especially seeing how the owner didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I'm between a 3 and 4 star. Cute place, nice vibe. You order and then they call your name for pickup. Coffee was a little bitter for my taste (I got the mild) but hubs thought it was fine. He got the breakfast sandwich and I got the avocado toast. What's odd is his came out first (cooked so should have taken longer) and mine came out 10-15 minutes later. I'm not a fan of this kind of readiness so that's just me. My toast was good so can't complain but felt that there was too much of a gap in the food coming out. read more

When lyrics first opened, I was overly critical! I think like most, I was sad that coffee cottage had closed. I have to say, though, they've really done a wonderful job with their little café! The food is delicious, the service is very quick, and everybody is so kind! I love what they did with the interior, it's very cozy. I like the music isn't too loud or too quiet I come here quite a bit now to visit friends, at least two or three times a month. Mixed feelings about this place. Ordered 2 hot vanilla lattes, a cinnamon roll, and a chicken club sandwich. Both coffees were burnt and bitter. Had little to no vanilla flavoring. The cinnamon roll was cold and could have used more icing. The chicken club sandwich was very tasty but on the menu it said a salad is included and the salad was so small that it was almost comical. No direction on where to wait for your drinks/food which can be confusing as the entry way can get pretty tight. Plenty of seating including outdoor seating which will be great in the spring/summer. I think this place has great potential but has quite a few kinks it needs to iron out before being THE coffee spot in Newberg. read more

Normally I have a great experience here, they have good coffee and food. But today a friend and I went through the drive through, and my friend who was driving ordered a sandwich for herself, and the girl working there didn't even look at me to see if I also wished to purchase food, she just walked away before we could say we had two separate orders. She had originally been rude before we even ordered, and the other girl working was also not in a good mood. When we told her we had another order, she said something rude and inhospitable, telling us not to ever do that again. Considering we were giving them our money she could have at least provided good customer service. We won't be going through their drive through anytime soon. read more

Locals may know what was there before, but this cafe concept that has taken over in Lyrics Cafe feels fresh & vibrant. Went for lunch over the weekend and the drink offerings along with the menu are vastly improved. The staff is all friendly and even recommended a specific Hibiscus Lemonade Fizz drink that was very refreshing. Their grilled cheese sandwich with the side salad is a solid lunch combo. The sandwich had some type of sweet fig in it that made it even better than expected. I wanted to go in person before reviewing, but I have gone through their new drive thru for coffee as well. Food is wonderful and I enjoy coming on Saturday or Sunday to grab some quick brunch. However, the coffee is not great. Unfortunately every time I get coffee here the baristas don't seem to know how to pull a proper shot, and it's often very weak or watery. The service is great and the workers are very kind. Summary: This place is an incredible local gem, and I am excited to continue to come here to work remotely or bring my kiddos during an afternoon walk in town. Tons of seating indoor/outdoor. The food and drink selection is on par with most cafes, and there's been a rotating selection of baked goods, picnic food, and yummy sandwiches/salads. As a local and someone who worked in coffee for 4 years, I like to think I know a thing a two about making good drinks/providing good service. The cafe has been a tremendous breath of fresh air. It has consistently delivered good coffee and food, and the staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. I am impressed that it achieved this without pandering to the aesthetic many cafes in/around Portland go for which feels contrived, trendy, and a sterile feeling which makes the you afraid to linger for too long if you're not wearing Patagonia/Lululemon. In summary, I appreciate that they've created a space that creates community and I am excited I found my "spot" in town. read more
