I debated pretty heavily on writing this review...I've been coming to Lynn Nails as a loyal customer for about 3 years (and in total, I've been getting my nails done for about ~14 years) and I've never had an infection on my nail beds...until now. No, this isn't discoloration from nail polish. This is likely due to the fact that tools aren't being cleaned between uses/poor hygienic practices. I went in yesterday to get my RED acrylic nails soaked off and was considering getting them painted to give my nails a break - and then I see that 2 out of 10 of my fingernails are discolored. I haven't injured them recently either, nor did I have any "lifting of the nail bed/space between my nail bed & acrylic for moisture to get trapped." This has literally never happened to me in allllll the years I've been getting my nails done...The owner was the one doing my nails and he asked me what I wanted to do with my nails, I said "nothing anymore, I just want them cleaned up" and showed him my two discolored nails as to not make a scene. He proceeded to play dumb and asked me "oh no what happened!" And I told him "I know it's some sort of infection" and looked over at his tools that were covered in nail dust from the last client he had that he was about to use on me....he got quiet after that and once he got my nails cleaned off, he pulled out a NEARLY EMPTY VIAL (!!! Which tells me this happens a lot!) of "medicine" and put it on my discolored nails. To say that I'm disgusted and extremely disappointed is an understatement, especially after being a loyal customer for years. I will never come back. read more

If you want bad customer service. Go here. My friend and I both went in to get nails done. While she was seen, I waited 40 minutes in the chair next to her. At that point her nails were practically done. I walked out. There are 10+ nail salons better than this one. When I was leaving, he told me that some other nail person would be done in one minute. He was fully still shaping her dip nails. While writing this, 15 minutes later, I learn from my friend that he is indeed still doing that other girls nails. My daughter and I went to this business for the first time yesterday for pedicures. Everything in the salon is clean and orderly, a huge selection of polishes, if you don't provide your own. The 2 young men who did our pedicures were courteous, knew what they were doing and did an excellent job. We were recommended this salon by a good friend. Would recommend to my family and friends and will definitely return. Very reasonable prices. We paid with a card and tipped in cash. Also we did not have appts and they were gracious in taking care of us. Appts are available, but no Saturday appts. read more

I frequent this salon because it is close to home. They are very friendly, always busy, have plenty of parking and appear to be clean and hygienic. I usually have nice experiences here; although my expectation is to be able to relax and get a decent manicure/pedicure without a lot of chit chat. If you're looking for a social event, it may not be for you. I think they take appointments, but walk in has always worked for me. They close at 8pm...I got here at 7pm for a pedicure. I had just come from my yoga class at YP (review below - highly recommend!!!) down the street and I was so relaxed...but when I got here, that relaxation diminished. Yes, I know you're closing in an hour but seriously, do you have to rush me? Is my business not worth it? ($25 for a pedicure) Things that went wrong: 1) One lady, I guess the owner, asks me to pay before my lady even started to scrub my feet. 2) I didn't sign right away because I like to tip at the end when I see how good of job they do - she came back to me and said, "SIGN!" - this was 7:25pm. 3) Turned off the TV at 7:30pm. 4) Closed all the blinds at 7:31pm. 5) One nail tech LIES ON THE COUCH WITH HIS FEET PROPPED UP. I know you want to be comfortable, but seriously? At least wait until your customers leave the damn store to make yourself at home. 6) My final coat is barely on and my nail tech puts my flip flops on my feet and says, "thank you" - escorting me OUT the door - I don't even get to dry my toes or spray them! 7) I barely crawl into my car and when I look up, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the workers is already out the door and in their car. I go to Lynn Nails for my pink and white fills/rebases - Tony always does a fantastic job. I tried many other places around the city after moving here 7 years ago, and found the winner in Tony. I've tried other places since then if I'm not able to get into Tony, and find that for some reason, other salons can't figure out how to do a pink and white without taking 1.5 hours or more. Tony typically has me in and out in under 45 minutes, or an hour at the longest. 5 stars to Tony! However, I do not recommend them for pedicures. Granted, it's been several years since I've done one there, but they never gave good massages or a really good scrub on my heels, and that's the kicker for me. read more

I have been going to Lynn Nail for several years. Several weeks ago I stopped in for a mani/pedi. They had a couple of new nail techs. A very young man (maybe 20 years old) came to the chair I had been told to sit in. He did not speak any English. He turned the water on. I told him it was too hot. I kept telling him it was too hot. So finally I just took the foot out of the water he was not working on and he tried to put it back. I had to get really forceful and loud enough for someone else to come over and cool the water down. My feet and ankles were so red from the water being so hot it took about 4 to 5 hours after I left for the redness to go away. He was super slow. He did a bad job of polishing. He put the polish on super thick and he ended up having to re-polish 4 toes. That took an hour and 15 minutes. One of the owners took over for the manicure because I had been there for so long. Then she let him polish my nails with clear. Again way too thick and it took forever for them to dry. This is on top of the 4 people in there drinking beer in bottles. I was terrified one was going to drop a bottle on that tile floor. Who brings a 6 pack of beer to a nail salon? I couldn't believe the owner's let them bring it in. It was too stressful. Unless this is the last nail salon on the planet I will not be returning. I was there almost 2 hours. read more

I have been to Lynn Nail 3 times since I have lived in KC (in an almost 3 year period). Once it was recommended and twice out of convenience. 2 of the 3 times--the last 2, Their techs were rude and they have given me 2 infections now. The first was on my finger and it had to be treated with antibiotics and the second was on my big toe that is still healing from a bad toe nail cut. I have been going to Lynn Nail for over two years because of recommendations of two other women. I have received both manicures and pedicures. My satisfaction has varied depending on the technician, but I have my favorites and now specifically ask for certain people. I know the newer young man Susie P. wrote about. He has done my nails a couple of times, and while my experience wasn't that bad, I prefer other technicians like Cindy, Lee and the owners. Now, the decor is not fancy, but their prices are very reasonable. I have tried some other nail salons that have nicer decor, but I have come back here for good. I watch them wipe instruments down with alcohol, and I haven't had any problems. The past two times I have been here, there are women who have sat near me who commented, 'I moved away, but when I come back to visit, I always come in to have my nails done,' and then another woman drives in over 15 miles from the suburbs just to get her nails done at Lynn Nails. One thing people need to remember is with a small business like this run by people from an overseas country is that their style of communication is different, their sentence structure is different, and voice inflection is different. As I have gotten to know the people, they are more comfortable around me. Remember, these employees have been working a long day,hunched over in an uncomfortable position, there isn't a plus 'break room', they need to close out the register (Susan C.), and they all stay there until the last person is done. read more
