I've been trying to find my "new home" and we'll i think I found it. They are usually by appointment only in order to establish a better customer service. Today I called in about a walk-in Davey didn't have an opening until later today. I really needed to get in as I only had an hour to work with. He then called back telling me he had a cancellation and come on in! Wow the selection of colors is amazing! Some top brands too. $45 for dip and if you want ombre add $10 for a full set! I think yes! Davey's customer service is wonderful, the atmosphere is soothing and comfy. Can't wait to take the family!! read more

Waldo Nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Kansas City, Missouri

I've been going there for over a year and always receive great consistent service and decent prices. It's a nicely decorated, clean place without being pretentious. I don't feel forced to make small talk, but everyone has been friendly. If anyone has a thicker accent and I miss something said, there's usually another person jumping in to explain so I don't feel rude asking. I would go for their after manicure hand massage alone. If I add a pedicure, I'll usually splurge on their add-one like a cucumber scented foot soak and leg mask. I usually get a dip manicure and they have a huge color selection of NuGenesis and others to choose from. They don't offer designs, but will do ombré colors along with all the usual services. Thomas usually greets you and handles the phones and check out. He always has a smile and gives great customer service. They even gave regular customers a gift for Chinese New Year. So nice! As an introvert, I especially appreciate their text appointment reminders and the ability to book or reschedule without calling every time. read more

I've lived in the Waldo area for about 3 years and I have gone to Waldo Nails this ENTIRE time. Even if I moved out of Waldo, I'd still make the drive. The prices are affordable and the staff is extremely polite & friendly. My dip nails stay in perfect condition for WEEKS which is rare. The massage chairs during a pedicure are super relaxing! I wouldn't want to get a pedicure/manicure anywhere else in KC. read more

I walked away very disappointed with my nails and I tried to convey that through the entire service. I kept telling her that the French tips where too bulky and I didn't like the shape, she kept telling me that she wasn't finished yet. She was also so rough with my hands that I ended up bleeding. When I asked if I could get them fixed and reshaped, she told me it would be an extra $35 on top of the $67 I had already paid for the poor service I received. Not to mention they where rude the entire time. read more

Very relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, and my pedicure was amazing. Will definitely go back!

This place is very popular in the area - I had to book my appointment for dip manicure a week out. But I'm glad I waited for them. The place is spacious and has a huge staff! There is a parking lot right across the street. This was only my second time trying dip and the results are very impressive. How dip powder can stay on your nails for over a month is beyond me. As usual, with my indecisiveness, it took me a good 10 minutes to decide on a color. They have a million shades, be prepared to be overwhelmed! They also do designs and ombré (with an additional charge, of course). I was in and out of there within an hour, with the cutest nails and smoothest hands. Dip manicure with removal costed $43 with cash. Weird, since it's Kansas City. But definitely give David and his team a try! read more

Waldo Nails - Best pedicure I've ever had! Seriously. - Nail Salons Near Me - Kansas City, Missouri

I've been looking for a new nail salon & I decided to walk-in since it was close to home. I went in around 3ish & I was seated immediately. I didn't get the friendliest greeting (this was better when I left). I only got a pedicure but he was very friendly & he did a nice job. They also do not have liners which I felt so-so about. I will say it's smaller than most nail salons I've visited but they have a wide variety of color options & plenty of staff. I enjoyed my experience & plan to come back soon! **Bonus: The scrub smells AMAZING & it comes with the basic pedicure for my cheap peeps! read more

Waldo Nails - Spring blue nails with paw print - Nail Salons Near Me - Kansas City, Missouri

I have gotten my nails done here a few times and overall they did a nice job and my nails looked good. I didn't like that they didn't tell me until after my nails were done that they charge more to use certain brands of nail polish so I ended up paying more when if I had known, I would have changed colors. On top of that I didn't know until I went to pay that they charge more to use a credit card. I ended up paying for with all the additives than I was expecting. I also always sit in the pedicure chair farther back and I have seen bugs a few times and I made me think they don't clean very often. I have many friends that love this place but I decided to start going somewhere else. read more

My friend and I went in for a gel mani for myself and a pedicure for her. There were not a lot of gel options and so I decided to switch to regular polish instead of have a color I didn't like. Multiple staff argued with me to switch to powder or find something in gel so they could upsell the manicure. My friend also had a similar experience when she requested the basic pedicure and the staff huffed. My manicure was not as well done as other basic manicures I've had; the paint was in the lines but she didn't clean my cuticles well and the paint chipped same day. This place would be fine in a pinch but there are probably even less expensive options with better customer service and skill sets. read more

I've been getting my nails done at Waldo Nails for almost a year. This is hands down the best nail salon I have been to in Kansas City. I always get a dip manicure by Mary and she does a phenomenal job every single time. Every nail appointment ends with a nice massage which is so relaxing. Anytime I've had broken or chipped nail, the owner gets me in very quickly and takes care of me. I would suggest making an appointment if you do want to go, as they are typically very busy! 10/10 would recommend. read more

Waldo Nails - Dip Manicure - Nail Salons Near Me - Kansas City, Missouri

Crooked nails. Pretty expensive and mediocre work done especially for the cheap, D-curve tips they use. Will not be returning.

Hands down, the absolute best place for dip manicures. Very talented and knowledgeable staff, who provide great and expeditious service. I moved out of state five months ago, and while I have found a salon that does dip manicures in my new city, they don't come close to Waldo Nails. The variety of colors and techniques available is unrivaled. And, a neck massage while your nails dry!?!? Yes please! It's very important that you make an appointment, because they're a popular joint! Like many small businesses, cash is king (they accept major credit cards, but if you pay cash, you get a punch card for a future discount on a manicure). I plan to schedule appointments any time I'm visiting! read more

I went here on a saturday evening, praying to get in, my nephew had just passed, right before mothers day. I went in at 1 pm, they asked mt to come back at 5:30. I did. I proceeded to get a gentlemen, cant even tell you his name because there was no introduction. After waiting til 6 pm to get seated and started, I could tell right away this man did not want to do my nails. He used an old file, he made the acryclic way too thick that only a BEGINNER would do. As I sit here many many weeks later, I can tell you I will not be returning. DO NOT ACCEPT CUSTOMERS YOU DO NOT HAVE ENERGY FOR. I even tipped the man well. Now I know... stick to Target glue ons and a UV you can purchase on Amazon. read more

My daughter and I went in for a pedicure. We decided to have gel nails. No one said, that it would be an extra charge. So we picked our color of which they gave me the wrong color. I decided not to say anything, didn't want to have a confrontation. My daughter picked the basic and I picked the express. We ended up having the same package somehow. We didn't have at all what the package offered. The massage was terrible and some how we paid ten times the price!!! Don't waste your time and money on this place. This past Friday was my first time at this nail salon. I called same day to make an appointment an hour after I called. The person on the phone was able to schedule me despite the fact that I wanted a full set at 6:15pm. Mimi is the name of the nail technician that did my nails. She did a great job at listening to what I wanted and I loved the way she shaped my nails. The place is clean and I would return to try out the other services they provide. read more

Do not, I repeat do NOT come here with a group! We made reservations for 5pp on a Sat at 11am. They have 8 manicure stations. 3 of us had manicures done (not sitting next to each other), and the other 2 had to wait 20min for nail techs to be ready for them. I was one that had to wait, and he ended up doing my nails in the pedicure chairs (fine, they were comfy), but then he didn't buff my nails since we weren't at a table, and didn't get the edges so there are (small) gaps between the end of the paint and my skin. Basically, flying thru my manicure to get to the next person. So, not an awful experience (which is why 3 stars instead of 2), just below average, especially since he skipped a step. The manicure was $15, and I'm pretty sure it was their most basic. read more

I called on Friday afternoon to make an appointment for the following morning - they said Saturday was busy and it would be best if I came in that evening at 7. I'm fairly flexible so I was happy to stop in later that evening. When I came in I was unsure which manicure I wanted - the dip, gel, or just something basic. I asked two people working what the dip would do to my nails, what the process was compared to gel, etc. and everyone was fairly short with me. I decided to get the basic manicure $15 and a pedicure $27 because no one really clarified exactly how the dip worked and I only really wanted a pedicure, the manicure was just for kicks anyhow. For reference I get my nails done fairly frequently, typically a gel manicure once a month maybe and a regular pedicure every 2-3 weeks. I should have known from how short they were with me that I wasn't going to have the best time but I was optimistic and I had heard rave reviews so why not give it a shot. A young woman did my nails while a young man did my toes. I always try to gauge whether or not they want to converse with me by making small talk initially but I didn't get the chance because they were far too busy flirting (I assume from the body language but they weren't speaking English)with one another to talk with me. Normally I wouldn't mind, I like just looking at my phone or reading what bothered me was that the young guy literally was not even looking at my freaking feet while working on them, there were still flecks of the old polish in the corners when he went to repaying them. When he went to cut my nails I had to request that he go shorter 3 times, finally I asked to just trim them myself if he was concerned for whatever reason - it was SO bizarre. Despite all of that the pedicure ended up looking beautiful but the manicure is a different story. After cleaning up my nails she never had me wash my hands - this was a first for me but maybe that's how they do it here. After she painted the first coat I looked at my hand to see a 1/8 inch gap between my cuticle and the polish. I requested that she paint the entire nail and she decided to argue with me that what I was seeing was in fact not my nail, but my cuticle and that the polish would not be "perfectly rounded" if she went up higher with the polish. Again, I was surprised and didn't know how to react other than to touch the nail demonstrating that it was in fact my nail, not a cuticle. She then went slightly higher with the second coat then making a slight bump because the layers of paint were uneven. Here we are less than a week later and it looks like 3 week old polish because it's so far down my nails and it's already chipping. As with most places they asked that I pay before she painted my nails, totally fine but I also tipped at that time which I honestly would not have done had I seen the final product. When I got up to leave after my nails dried not a single person said thank you or goodbye. All of that said, spend a little more or make an appointment further out for another nail salon because you'll leave far happier. read more

Waldo Nails - These were done on Friday and it's now Wednesday afternoon - even a basic manicure as they call it should last at least a week. - Nail Salons Near Me - Kansas City, Missouri

The low rating is solely due to the lack of care given to natural nails. They do great work with the gel dip and acrylic nails, but natural nails, not so much. My nails are thick, healthy and I like to wear them long. After my last visit, my nails are now short and brittle. I won't be returning. read more

I came here hoping for an awesome experience because I read so many great reviews! I left pretty disappointed and sad my regular nail salon is closed on sundays! I got the dipping powder and the technician didn't push away my cuticles to allow for more nail polish and a better shape, also my nail shapes were uneven and jagged and just all around not impressive. Because their lack of colors I couldn't find any regular shade for my toes to match the dipping powder.... and then when a regular shade was painted on it was SO much brighter than how it looked in the bottle and I felt like they were very mad when I asked to switch colors (before they had barely painted three nails may I add). I just felt like a bother and very rushed. Forgot to mention it also took the technician barely 15 minutes to do my dipping powder on my hands, and at my regular salon they usually spend about 45 minutes working HARD for perfection. read more

Every time I decide to go back it's a better experience. This time I decided to get a full set and I have to say my nails look amazing! I'll definitely be going back for a fill. This nail salon is truly high quality and cares about its customers. I've always been greeted warmly when I arrive for my appointment. (They prefer that you make an appointment, so they can make sure they have ample time to take good care of you and not rush or sacrifice quality. I always give them a call and set an appointment for the same day!) Aside from their friendliness, the quality of service is amazing, and their attention to detail is immaculate. My gel nails and pedicure lasted 2 full weeks, even while I was on the beach for a week! Their new dipping powders are even better; and it's all-natural! I can't say enough how high-quality this salon is. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could, but instead I'll just send them everyone I know who wants to have a fantastic salon experience! Getting my nails done should be a relaxing service, this was not at all. I came in for a manicure and pedicure. I look forward to closing my eyes and getting into that massage chair, but I could not enjoy that because they did my manicure at the same time while in the pedicure chair. Did not get to use the massage chair for more than 5 mins yet paid for a pedicure not a polish change.....I was uncomfortable twisted to the side while getting my hands done. When I mentioned I was uncomfortable (my arm was becoming numb, my already sore back was beginning to throbbing) i was told that I should mention I want separate services when booking. Again I mentioned I was really uncomfortable and pointed to an empty chair, if I could just sit there after the pedicure. I was told no but next time. Mind you, it wasn't busy there were multiple empty stations. I had two different nail techs- one for pedicure another doing my manicure. Is that not a separate service? To me that is! I'm disappointed at the $65 dip manicure I received. It's thick, not painted to my cuticle, and before was given a short shoulder massage while nails dried. I have only came here a few times during covid but plenty of times before covid. Their prices have skyrocketed but the quality is NOT THE SAME. read more
