UPDATE: Unfortunately, it is possible for one bad experience to completely obliterate my previously positive review and thoughts on this place. Now hear me out, no one likes having to pay $55 for subpar work, but the primary reason I am updating my review is the lack of customer service and professionalism (who would've thought that makes a difference, right?!)
A few weeks ago, I went straight from work to my 6pm appointment at Luxury Nails to get a mani pedi as I had an early flight the next day. About 5 minutes into my pedicure I realized the man doing my nails is inexperienced and I made a major mistake for not asking to switch to another tech from the beginning. Not wanting to be rude, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Worst decision! Not only was he extremely slow, which I would've otherwise overlooked, but he was sloppy: nails filed uneven, nail polish on my cuticles, heels still rough. The shellac mani I got was even worse. I got my go-to favorite OPI color but he didn't apply it evenly and it was so streaky. After I mentioned that, he proceeded to apply a third thick layer which made my nail beds thick and bubbly. By this time, I was the last customer in the place because they were already closed and it was just me, this guy, the girl who works in the front who I can only assume is the owner, and her little daughter. I love children, I do, but there is absolutely no reason that a child should be coming up to the ONE customer in the salon to chit chat and show her iPad games. After a stressful 10 hour work day, the last thing I want to do is babysit and entertain your child. But I was nice and I did because the poor girl was so bored and she's waiting on her mom, who, btw, was sitting in the front on her cell phone the whole time this was going on. When he finally got done with the shellac, it was close to 8pm. I was exhausted, disappointed, and SOL. I went up to pay and mentioned to the owner that he did a really bad job and if it wasn't so late I would've asked someone to redo my shellac. She just looked at me, smiled, and then proceeded to run my credit card through. Thinking she did not hear, I reiterated again that it was a really sloppy job, he's very slow, my shellac looks ridiculous and that he needs to get properly trained. The response? She put on a big fake smile, told me some shellac needs three layers (not the first time I've gotten this one so I told her it definitely doesn't), and continued to smile at me like a fool. She didn't even look at my nails. I did not get one apology, one offer to come back for a redo, nothing. She didn't even PRETEND to care. Very cold. Look, I understand it's late and your daughter needs to get home, but this is a business. YOU chose to give him a mani pedi job for a 6pm appointment. Just because I'm the last customer there does not mean professionalism and customer service goes out the door. A simple apology would've gone such a long way. I left even more disappointed than I was before this exchange. I'm positive if the salon was full of people who could've overheard the exchange that it would've gone completely different. But, alas, it was late, it was just me, and she wanted me out. And who cares? The reviews on here are great! We're busy! I already have her money! It's just one person's experience that no one can corroborate.
Btw, I tipped him because he did try, even though he failed miserably. Obviously never coming back here again but I hope that no one else will experience this. read more
