I had a good experience at this nail salon. Vicki did my nails, I brought an inspo pic and she helped me choose a color that was similar. She told me if I wanted the same style I would need to do chrome, and since I didn't want to do that I did dip. So happy with how they turned out, attached reference pic and final product. I also got my toes done by a different tech, was not super happy with pedicure quality (there was a gap on my toe where polish was missing - pic attached) but my toe nails are super short so it was probably difficult to do. Still my go-to place for pedicure season. The staff overall is friendly and attentive. Very easy to make an appointment by calling the salon. Parking can get a little congested with all the different businesses in the plaza. Usually have to wait a few minutes before being called back for your pedicure. But I guess it gives you time to pick out your nail polish color. Staff usually help with putting your purse on the table and moving the arm rust of the seat so you can get in. I've had about 2-3 different staff and they are all pretty attentive and give a great pedicure. Health and sanitation wise I would say they are above average. Some tools are opened in front of you while other ones appear to be reused between client. The bowls also have a plastic cover around them. I've never had any type of adverse reaction to their tools or products. My biggest complaint continues to be not asking you which type of pedicure service you want and that they automatically do a "classic" pedicure on you. There have even been times when I asked for an "express" and they still give me a classic. An express pedicure was $28 when I went last season and $33 for classic, which includes a hot towel around your legs and feet and a lotion massage. The salon is clean, airy, and welcoming. The pedicure chairs are comfortable and I love the massage options on it. I'll start with the pros first. They really do have great selection of colors - especially for gel/ shellac. The place is clean overall and quite a few of them do speak English well enough to communicate. Nice massages during pedicures - nothing rushed! Cons: I have never had a pedicure look funky a few days in and this time my color is already doing a weird raised business. Not sure if it's just not painted in layers properly. Also don't take half my skin off with the cuticles- when I say "ow" it means that hurt and i'd like for you to stop cutting further in. With all that said I am enjoying my shellac mani and have gotten a couple compliments on it. The pedicure I am rather disappointed in. I've been going here for about 5 years, and it's my preferred salon in SE Mich for manicures and pedicures. There are places that are better, but much more expensive. The cheaper places just aren't as good. So, New Day hits the Goldilocks Zone for me. I am almost always very happy with the resulting mani and pedicures here. Once in a while, I get a dud (gel mani not cured long enough, uneven trims, or maybe some cuticle damage) but it's rare. Be aware that there are several "inside" photos on Yelp showing the wrong interior for this salon. I have reported these photos, but they remain. Yelp should really stay on top of this because otherwise it defeats the purpose of their own website. I'll attach some photos of my own when I get a chance. Waste of money. The devil Is in the details. The final job looked good, but it I mentioned to the tech that several of my nails were split - almost falling off at the start of the appointment. Noting was done to repair any of them. The technician simply painted my nails. I had to cut 4 nails off the very next day. There is more to getting your nails done then them looking good. Had a manicure, paid $45 plus a $10 tip. When I attempted to schedule my next appointment, Amy (the manicurist I had just handed $55 in cash to) proceeded to insult and embarrass me when she refused to schedule my next appointment when I requested (I had been a long time customer, spending $100/month there and had sent so many new clients her way). Following this incident, I called twice requesting a call from the owner, Vickie, which never came. Therefore, my husband went back to the salon to speak to the owner and to get our money back. The owner (who wasn't even at the salon the day this occurred) proceeded to tell my husband I over reacted and that I was a LIAR! The details are below in my letter to the owner. Dear Vickie, I'm sorry I canceled my 4:30 pedicure at noon; 4.5 hours prior to the appointment. I work full time and have three children at home; sometimes things don't go as planned. With it being a walk-in salon, I thought 6 hour notice was courteous enough and better than telling you when I arrived for my manicure. If Amy had any concerns with it, she had a whole hour to discuss it with me while doing my nails, but she didn't. Instead, she waited to tell me at the front desk, in front of other guests and other employees, directly after I paid her. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I heard what you said and how you treated my husband today. Let me clarify something for you; there was no miscommunication. I was shocked by the treatment I received from Amy - so much so, that I literally told her I was insulted. If insulting me was not what she intended to do, that would have been the perfect time to say so. But she didn't. She just stared at me - yes, stared at me! Amy had plenty of opportunities to set the record straight, but instead she chose to let me leave your salon visibly upset. Why? Because insulting me was exactly what she intended - making it right, was not. As a business owner myself, I was sure that you, the owner would want to know about my experience and would appreciate the opportunity to make it right. Boy was I mistaken!! You weren't even at the salon when this all occurred, yet you looked my husband in the eye and called me a Liar!! Who does that? I've never met another business owner (and I know plenty of them) who would dream of doing that. You didn't show the slightest bit of concern. Never once offered up an apology. All you did was make an already terrible experience worse. It's no wonder your staff doesn't understand customer service. And it's not just me. Your online reviews warn consumers about you. "Terrible customer service! Vicky (the owner) is rude and doesn't know a thing about customer service." I can now attest to that. Despite what you believe to be true, it was a very poor business decision to not even attempt to make it right with me (the customer). An apology would have gone a long way. Do you know how many people an upset customer tells about their awful experience? Google it. Customer service is what separates the businesses that succeed and the businesses that die. And word of mouth is EVERYTHING! I will never use your business again. I will never send you another referral. And I will do everything in my power to encourage other paying customers to spend their hard earned money with companies who appreciate them. I'm not a pamperer. I feel like there's way too much work to be done, so any tiny pampering is trivial. However, I indulged when a friend asked if I wanted to join her for a manicure and pedicure. We walked in and were seated within half an hour, which was fine since we weren't on a time crunch. My service went really quickly and I LOVED how my person shaped my nails. I could not stop fawning over them. My friend got kind of ditched while her nail person went to finish up a manicure, but it worked out since I got to dry my pretty nails for longer while waiting for her. Two weeks later, my nails still looked great, and I got normal polish. This is making me reconsider my lack of pampering, and I will likely go back when I'm in town again! read more

This is my go to nail salon! They always do such an amazing job, and everyone is so friendly. They're a very busy salon (because the nail techs are great at what they do) so sometimes it can be hard to fit in an appointment, but the gentleman that works the front always tries to accommodate me the best he can. Their facility is always clean and they have a lot to offer from pedicures, manicures and waxing. They have a large variety of colors as well for any occasion. My go to girl is Trang, but I referred my friend to this salon, and she had Vicky (who is also the owner) and loved her visit and her nails so much that she ditched her old salon to come here! read more

I am so happy my cousin took me to this place. They did a phenomenal job. I got a fill and then a pedicure. I did French tip. My lady was so patient with me. She made sure I was satisfied with my nails before she let me leave. I had her change my ring finger 3 times because I didn't like the sparkle till finally I decided to go with a single sparkle diamond. This place has beautiful decor and very nice and clean. I came to New Day because a friend recommended it. The first time I attempted to walk in they were very busy and it would be a 2 hour wait. I couldn't wait that long so I left and tried again today. This time I got right in for a regular pedicure and a shellac manicure. I wish I knew the name of the lady that did my nails because she was lovely and did a great job. Usually these sort of places just do your nails as quickly as possible and rush you out the door but that wasn't my experience here. I wasn't left waiting in a chair, she just took her time and did a good job. They have a lot of shellac colors and from what I could see, they also had a good selection of colors for the dip manicure. I will say, the pedicure chairs looked and felt a bit beat up and some of the lamps and trash cans were a bit dusty but they are getting ready to close later this month for renovations so I'm assuming those things will be addressed. After I was done I asked if it was ok to stay there and wait for nails to dry while the chair messaged me. "Of course no problem" was my techs response. I figured it's slow, no ones there but 2 other people. I began to feel uncomfortable after he asked if i was waiting on anyone, i assured him no I was done just waiting for nails to dry, he turned his head mumbled in his language "no need for her to sit there and use the chair, once their done have them sit outside to dry" little did he know I studied and spoke his langue too! The 3 techs sitting there along w the ones sitting outside servicing clients all looked at me. I was so uncomfortable, I immediately gathered my items left the sandals on and walked to him telling him nó không phi là mt tha thun không có gì ln phin phc v (it wasn't a big deal, I was all done, nothing to fuss about) He didn't say a word! Really bummed. My usual place. I got a gel manicure on Thursday and by Sunday it was chipped. Made an appointment to get it fixed on my lunch break. I arrived 5 minutes early and signed in. No one greeted me. I waited 25 minutes before I had to leave. No one greeted me that entire time. I now have to stand up in a wedding with a chipped manicure. Very very disappointing. My mom goes here to get her nails done and I went once with her. It was your typical nail salon experience, nothing special or extraordinary. Several months later, I was getting service done to my car at the Ford dealership and had an hour wait time so I decided to walk to the salon and get my nail polish changed. Same old, same old until it came time to pay. I'm not one to carry cash, I only had a couple of bucks on me that day. The polish change was $6, so I handed the lady my debit card. She proceeded to tell me I couldn't use a card for anything under $10, so I told her to put a $4 tip on it to make it equal $10. Can't do it. So finally after a bit of back and forth I told her just to charge me $10 for the $6 service. I didn't really feel like getting into it with her about how it's illegal to refuse my card as a form of payment, so I just bit the bullet and paid almost twice as much as I should have. She didn't get a tip. There are so many mediocre salons like this in the area, I won't be going back here for something I can have done almost anywhere else. read more

It comes from the warm air that greets you as you walk inside that smells vaguely of nail polish remover and lotion; the wide-screen TVS in the back, the intermittent chatting about celebrity gossip as customers flip through US Weekly, and the gentle hum of your vibrating chair as you get a pedicure. For people who care about this, they have both OPI and Essie nail polish to choose from. Some salons feature just one or the other. There's one more thing, and the main reason I think that New Day has some kind of voodoo charm: there are always men in here getting stuff done. Well, it's about time men got with the progam, but still! The only negative: it's a bit pricey. And sometimes they are a little too hard on your toes while filing/cutting cuticles. I have been going there for years, never once late, whereas the technicians are always behind and they keep you waiting. I should have turned around and left! Didn't appreciate the rude greeting. Agreeing with previous comments: they completely disregard their appointments. Due to my work I can only come during my lunch break. I can loosely manage an hour therefore first thing in the morning i made an apt for 2pm. After about 40 minutes of waiting I kindly asked what's going on. I was yelled at "if you wanna be serviced immediately, why didnt you make an appointment!?" too bad I did. Now, the reason why I waited so long was infuriating. Several girls who know the staff personally, just walk in without a word and head to the station without an appointment. In the end my nails had been rushed, in wrong shape and needed correction. Ok. I'm going to give a shout-out to New Day Nail & Spa. Why? Well, I think they deserve it. Recently, I had a crap experience at another nail place. For the heck of it, I decided to have a manicure and pedicure at another place. I basically looked at my hands and feet and thought that I needed another manicure and pedicure. I don't have that problem at New Day. I'm a big fan of paying other people to pamper me. Massages? Yeah. Love those. Straight-razor shave? Yeah. Love those. Mani & pedi? Yeah. I don't see how those are different from having someone cut my hair, shave my face, or rub my body. Of course, these are luxury sorts of endeavors. So, when I'm paying out my hard-earned cash for some pampering instead of grooming myself, it better be good. I have not been disappointed by the service and quality of the work that New Day has given me over the past couple of years. For me, it's simple stuff that I ask for. I couldn't say how the do with more esoteric nail work. I'm just after making my feet and hands look presentable, the little massage that goes with the pedi, and the scrub.
