2 years later and Skintuition is still my go to waxing place. I always see Amy Palomar for all my waxing needs, she's the absolute BEST! I've seen a few of the other girls there as well but it's only when Amy isn't available and even though they're great too Amy just does everything perfectly without me really needing to guide her. They weren't open for a while because of COVID so I was long overdue but when they opened back up within the first few days I called and the earliest they could get me in was a couple days shy of a month away so they're super busy right now - make your appointments ASAP! I asked Amy about how this place was doing because of COVID and she said the owner Lauren provides health insurance for their workers which is unheard of in her business and during the pandemic the owner paid out of her own pocket for the health coverage of the workers - THAT IS A BUSINESS OWNER I CAN SUPPORT! This place is super clean, masks are required and they wipe everything down the second someone touches it, you can't come in until your actual appointment either because there's no waiting room options. This place has always been clean and sanitary but they're taking it to a whole extra level which I can fully get behind and support. They also do so much more then just waxing, their website lists everything including prices. I have mixed reviews at Skintuition. First time I went for a facial years back it was fabulous. Great waiting room and great esthetician. After that it has gone bad. Let's fast forward to my last appointment the girl was trying so hard to finish my hydro facial that I didn't enjoyed anything. Then a dermaplane the same story but the most disturbing part was that she was very pushy for me to buy their creams even after I say no. By the time I was paying the girl in the front had the creams and was asking again if I wanted them. So I am not going back for a facial at all maybe for other services but no facial. I recently got my first facial ever and am beyond delighted that I got it done at Skintuition! The receptionists are incredibly kind and helpful and the aestheticians are equally so. Amy, my esthetician, was wonderful! She asked great questions about my current skincare routine and never once did I feel like she was unnecessarily promoting the products in store; that being said, I asked lots of questions and asked for recommendations, and I walked out with a few products. So far I am loving them and see positive, noticeable changes in my skin's texture. Amy knows what she is talking about, and I'm sure each does! This review is looooong overdue! I've been going to Skintuition for almost two years and I absolutely love everything about it. From the waxing to the facials to the spray tans, there isn't a place I'd recommend more. The staff is super friendly and kind, check-in and check-out are really easy with the help of the front desk staff (Cami is awesome!), and the general atmosphere is just top notch! Most recently I've been seeing Miranda for my regular eyebrow + lip wax, and just added in the Fresh SuperFood Organic Facial. She does an awesome job and I always leave feeling refreshed and with that dewy glow I love! I also want to add that all of the staff are super accommodating and do everything they can to make clients feel comfortable! I'm seven months pregnant and can't lay flat on my back so Miranda was able to get a table that could prop me up for the facial. I'm sure that isn't super convenient for her, but it meant the world to me that she really took my concerns seriously and did what she could to work around it. That being said, I didn't notice if it did inconvenience her because my facial today was stellar as always! I've also had the pleasure of seeing Michaeline, Amy and I think a couple of ladies who aren't there anymore... all of them are highly recommended! I absolutely love skintuition! The ambiance here is great-you leave relaxed and polished. They offer a vast array of different spa treatments at a fair price. I visit monthly to get my eyebrows waxed. Always are hosting different events with special pricing and unique treatments. Also love the wall of cosmetics-the sale pile is great for last minute gifts. However, was unhappy with one experience. Went in to get a bikini wax and they told me on the spot that a new trainee would be taking my appointment. You book your appointment with the certain beautician that you want beforehand to avoid situations like this. Was kind of thrown off that they didn't offer me a discount or even a heads up that an inexperienced beautician would be performing my wax! If it happens again I will be far more upset, but for now skintuition is my go to. read more

I've tried spas all over place and this spa has surpassed all the others in terms of cost, efficiency, cleanliness and overall customer care. I found Skintuition (formerly Advanced Skin Care) just by using (wait for it) Yelp! As always, the fearless Yelpers steered me in the right direction. I have purchased their waxing and spray tanning services and have been very happy with both. I don't go anywhere else now! Lauren, in particular, has hands of lightning! I have never been in and out of a waxing session with such speed. That being said, however, she is exceptionally meticulous and I have never left a session with any stray hairs. I've been here twice now, once for a eyelash lift and once for a hyrdafacial. My lash lift was amazing! I loved the results and the person who did them was very friendly! The 2nd time I went in for a hyrdafacial. I enjoyed the facial, it left my skin feeling super soft. I didn't care for the person who was doing it though, she came off very standoffish and didn't really want to socialize, which is fine but I had questions and didn't really feel comfortable even bringing them up. Not sure if she was just having a bad day or what. Next time I will just chose a different person but overall great experience with both services, I will be back. read more

Smells great due to an essential oil diffuser, lots of products available to browse and buy, and there is a calm mood-lit seating area to wait and relax before your service. I don't like to post reviews like this.. but people need to read this before deciding where to go for a wax. Over 2.5 weeks ago, I had a brazilian wax with Jen.. this is not my first time getting a wax at Skintuition so what follows is extremely bazaar. A few days after the wax I started to get itchy.. this had never happened to me before so I called to see what I could do and the manager I spoke to said this sometimes happens and I shouldn't worry too much. Days to follow.. it was only getting worse.. much worse. I got a brazilian wax but somehow.. this reaction went from that area.. to down my legs and up my abdominal area. I called my OB and described the situation & they asked me to come in. After getting multiple swabs/tests done.. they called me with the results the next day. Not only did I get a fungal infection that was moving throughout my skin.. but also a BACTERIAL infection. The OB explained that this is not a normal reaction and something had to have been in the wax for this to get to the extreme state it came to. I was put on MULTIPLE medications/antibiotics. Worst part.. I was going on vacation that weekend (Vegas).. couldn't drink, couldn't sit in the sun.. my vacation was ruined. I called again to let the manager know what happened.. she was really apologetic and told me she would let the owner know immediately. Within 20 minutes, the owner called. She was really sweet and really apologetic, even offered me a free facial. Unfortunately.. no amount of apologies can take back the absolute misery l've been going through. 2.5 weeks later, 5 medications later.. I'm still completely miserable. Have an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow because the antibiotics/antifungals/steroids are not taking this horrifying rash away. This has truly been the worst experience I've ever had. Completely scarred from waxing. Completely ok with shaving forever & never EVER having to deal with this again. read more

This was my first visit to Skintuition and I received a hydrofacial and eyebrow waxing. I was loving everything, the facial was great and I thought the waxing would've been great as well. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I had been burned. The skin is now very tender and red under one of my brows. Just a little disappointed the woman taking care of me didn't mention it. May be back for a facial but can't say i'll be back for a waxing. read more

Nice place, and I really like how they are focused on skincare. It's not a hair salon or massage place that does skincare as a side business. After reading several reviews, I noticed complaints of customers being treated rudely for being a few minutes late. I was early for my appointment but was taken 10 mins after my appointment time. The girl I saw apologized and it really wasn't a big deal, but if you expect customers to be on time that policy goes both ways. I had a hydrafacial which I would rate about 2.5 stars. It was my choice of service because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I have fairly good skin so I don't think it was very beneficial to me. The girl who administered it was great so it's not a knock on her. I just think it's way overpriced and you are paying for the equipment. I will definitely be back in the future to try some of the different essential facials they offer. EDIT: Just to clarify my comment on pricing. I have seen prices from $125-185 for this service. It's not that I think Skintuition is charging too high of a price as they are about average, more of a general comment that the hydrafacials value for the money just isn't there for me personally. read more

I have gone a few times for spray tans for special events. My skin has always looked great and natural. I am a pale natural blonde and my previous experiences with spray tans elsewhere ended in horrible orange hands and feet and an overall unnatural look. Here I can hide my minor tan lines from working outside and wear a nice dress and everyone tells me my skin looks like it is glowing and assume it is from the sun ;) Oh and the cost is the most reasonable I have ever seen for a actual person doing it and not a booth. It has been a little while since I have gone but I have never paid over $35 for a spray tan and the women who do it are very nice. read more

I met Lauren the owner a few years ago and this is her new location in a very busy complex. When you enter this facility you will see the layout to be energetic, bright and refreshing. The floor plan is laid out like a medical facility with the privacy you would expect. There are also some very nice upgrades within the facility such as a small waiting room. Lauren is excellent at waxing but more than that she is a very respectful small business owner with employees, currently there are eight including her. It is very hard to find a place that does a great job with an eyebrow wax. Jordan was amazing! She didn't take too much off the shape or the center (which people tend to do). A lot of places usually end up ripping off skin with my brows (sensitive skin), but I had no issues here. My shape is amazing and for once my brows don't look overly thin or scraggly. I don't live on this side of town anymore, but my folks do, so this will be a visit every time I'm in town! read more

I used to go to the wax queen for my Brazilians. However it got pretty annoying when I would have to book them 3 weeks in advanced. Then I heard about skintuition which is right up the road. A very strange experience. Saturday was my first time at Skintuition, and I had a spray tan. Making the appointment was easy, they were very accommodating and friendly. The person who sprayed me was friendly and the color was gorgeous. I've had many spray tans, literally for years, but mostly with another spray tan business in Rochester. I never should have tried another place. Having been sprayed a lot, I know to never go in with lotion on, to make sure to be well exfoliated and not to shower for at least 8 hours or the next day. Sunday, I rinsed off the cosmetic, and saw that one of my legs was blotchy, had almost no color whatsoever on my inner calf, and it looked like I had 200 freckles on my shin. In addition, my face wasn't even. I usually go to another salon, as I mentioned and I've never had an issue. Not once in 40 tans. I was shocked that the color was bad immediately after rinsing. On Monday I called the salon and the receptionist was helpful and put me in touch with the person who had sprayed me. She immediately offered to make it right and asked if I could come in that night. I said yes, but I needed to go home and shower, as I had lotion on my skin as well as makeup on my face. I also had work clothes on, which I certainly wasn't going to wear after being sprayed. About an hour later, the owner (I think) called and wanted me to explain it to her, which I did. She then asked me if I could come show her after work. I said I could, but I'd need to rush, then go home and shower and change in order to get back there before they closed. She told me that wouldn't be necessary because she'd just respray me then. I said I wouldn't be able to as I had lotion on, makeup and good clothes. She was under the mistaken impression that she was only redoing one leg. I explained once again that it was my face and as well as the one leg, and I needed to wash my face and wash off the lotion. She told me they had plenty of face wash. I said no thanks, and won't go back. They clearly messed this up and I was polite and gave them a chance to fix it, but her attitude toward the fix was pretty shoddy. read more

I went to skintuition for the first time yesterday and had a spray tan appointment with Jordan. I was very nervous about it because I had never been spray tanning before and didn't want to look orange. I am very fair and did not want to look pale at my sister's wedding which is in Florida. Horrible. I was very annoyed at this place. I had to cancel my appointment, and they charge a same say cancellation fee that was $100. No one let me know ahead of time that there would be a fee. Not when i made the appointment, nor when i gave my payment information. They called me at half an hour before they closed the day before and left me a message about it, but by the time i called back they were closed. When i called to ask about the fee they were not sympathetic at all. I told them that no one told me about this and they just kept repeating that its their policy and it's on their website (and you have to search for the policies) read more
