I walked in for my appointment and was not greeted by anyone after 10 minutes. I told the closest person that I had an appointment and they said someone would be with me. So, 15 minutes past appointment time. My manicure was not very thorough (natural nails) and my pedicure was mediocre. read more

Love Bao and her sweet crew! They are professional, clean, personable and do a quality job! Been coming here for years and they always remember details about my family. Today I treated my mom and daughter to mani and pedis (mom got a full set) and they were tender, quick, and attentive. Highly recommend! And it doesn't smell like polish or any chemicals because they have great ventilation and a clean restroom!!!! read more

Bao is amazing! When she does your nails, she does them well. She says she enjoys doing nail designs which is refreshing because you don't feel like a bother asking. I love coming here because it's quiet and peaceful - no loud music or tvs on. 100s of people aren't coming in and out because services are by appointment only. Bao always has the best and most up to date colors or techniques for your nails and if you're stuck on what to do, she has ideas. Very reasonably priced. I only have a few pictures saved but will work on taking more. I've been going here for over two years and haven't regretted a visit yet! read more

Two years ago I moved from livonia to hazel Park. I am obscenely picky about the way my nails look. So, I drive every two weeks to the nail salon I've been going to for the last decade, in garden city. Finally I say to myself, this is ridiculous, find somewhere closer to home. So I ask everyone from around here where I should go to get my nails done. Every single person says "nails by bao". So I call them abd say, "when could I come in for a full set?" She says, "not this week, next week" WHAT? Two weeks? Yikes!!! Then she says, what about tomorrow? (I think she could hear my shocked expression). I say, yes please. I decide in the morning when I wake up that I want a pedicure as well, so I call and ask, thinking there's no way. But she says, sure. When I walk in, I'm happy already. The place immaculate. All white everything. Very sterile, but also inviting. The service was amazing. Best experience I've had at a nail salon. If I had to think of something that could be better. They use single use jets for the pedicure. I mean I love that they are thinking about the safety of the clients. But the lack of strength in the forcefulness of the bubbles was a let down. Then I wasn't offered my choice of pedicure, I got the basic one, (probably because i was the last one, and the other options would have taken longer) afterward I ask to schedule my next appointment and ask for a Saturday. Janice offers come in an hour earlier than usual so I can come in on a Saturday. Great customer service. My new nail place. You guys are stuck with me until I move again. read more

Rushed job. Worst manicure of my life. They book too many people at once. Cut my cuticle and never even sanitized after!!! Instead tried to fix it with liquid styptic and nail glue! All while trying to finish my manicure while I was still bleeding. I washed my hands after the failed attempts by the tech and sprayed alcohol on the cut and applied pressure until it stopped. I will never be back. I will add it was not done by the owner or her husband. read more

So I am not sure why there are several reviews "hidden" because they are great reviews and right in line with my experience. I did a walk-in on 9/2/2020 and was services right away. I have yet to find a nail spot since I am a transplant but I think I finally found it. I came for a mani with dip and pedi with gel. This was a big deal for me because this was for my wedding! My experience was wonderful. Bao and her husband are so nice. Her husband was very gentle with my feet and took his time. I was clear I was in no rush and I was able to relax. Bao applies the gel polish to my toes. Bao also did my nails. I've only had dip a few times but I can tell you Bao excels with flying colors in this area. She is QUICK with it but not sloppy which is key! Very meticulous. They way she did ombré was impressive. It has been over two weeks now and I have not experiences any chipping or lifting. My stones I had added have pretty much lasted for the most part which is amazing because I used my hands a lot during my wedding weekend and then we honeymooned in Cancun so they survived the ocean, pool, and excursions. My toes look just as good as Day 1 too. See my pictures from day 1 to day 15. Ombré dip on my natural nails. read more

Bao and her husband Chee were so sweet, and incredible designers! They were immensely attentive to detail and completely on top of COVID safety precautions. I came with a design on my phone to show Bao, and walked out with nearly identical nails, which is all I could ask for. Prices were very fair and products used were great. Bao and Chee remember all of their clients by name and remember little details about them - what an amazing sign of a small business! My name is Brian Frick and I am so frustrated with Bao's professionalism or lack of. First she was late, no big deal we all get behind. This is where the problem comes in, no acknowledgement or apology for being late. Poor service, no communication, and no ability to accept responsibility for being in the wrong. Made an appointment a week in advance... I get there and there are 2 people inside the salon, 1 person waiting. The nail tech tells me that someone called and canceled my appointment? I obviously didn't cancel if I showed up. Lying to say that I canceled because you messed up is not professional at all. And the response of "well you can sit here and well fit you in as we can but it'll be a while" isn't rectifying the situation. Don't recommend. read more

I have always wanted to know what was inside that building/house especially with that gorgeous curved front door. Passed it so many times on University. Parking was easy and nice to have designated parking spots for Bare Philosophy. Walked in and had no idea that you had to take your shoes off. I get for cleanliness sake and winter bringing water/salt, but I wasn't expecting it. I walked in and noticed another patron standing inside with her socks on so I followed suit. I didn't notice behind me that they provide slides to wear after you take off your shoes. There was no staff downstairs so no one to greet me or give instructions. There was a sign that said they were short staffed and to help yourself. It was the day before Christmas Eve. Really pretty inside and welcoming. Lots of areas to look at product. There was a coffee machine. Old historical charm throughout! The other client got brought back and I just was standing around. I finally heard someone in the foyer area and was checked in at that point and brought back to a large room for my eyebrow appointment. We spoke a bit about eyebrow shape and how she likes to keep things natural/follow your natural shape. Can always take off more later if I wanted. I think my eye wax was all of five minutes. Trimming, a few strips of waxing, and then tweezing and that's it. Let me have a look in the mirror and I was happy for the most part. I should've asked to trim my eyebrows a little more. But overall content with the shape. I wish there was something to put on my skin afterwards to calm it down since I get red easily. Again, the whole process was super quick, didn't feel overly personalized with an eye brow shaping/waxing but the job got done. The staff who did my brows was very nice and we made conversation throughout my service. I felt comfortable and no pain with the waxing/tweezing. Afterwards, she checked me out and you can give a tip on a card. $20 is a fair price for an eyebrow wax, what I was paying for at another place in the area.

I've had the pleasure of visiting Nails by Bao on a few occasions, and I've been thoroughly satisfied with each visit. I opted for a gel manicure both times, once with a design and the other without. To ensure I secured my spot, I made a reservation about a month in advance, as they tend to fill up quickly. Upon arriving, I've consistently been greeted promptly, and the salon's environment is consistently clean and inviting. During my first visit, Bao's husband handled most of the manicure and base color, while Bao herself took charge of the design. Waiting for her to complete the design did take a little extra time -- it didn't bother me, but it'ssomething to consider if you're in a hurry. My second visit was notably quicker, and I was in and out without much delay. The service at Nails by Bao is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is not only skillful but also very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a great nail care experience! read more

I literally am in love with Boa's nails! I have been looking everywhere for a nail place to do amazing coffin nails and designs I was paying overpriced prices for nails that were never right. Now that Boa's open I will never go anywhere again! She does the coolest designs... I swear the price will shock you. I've never been more satisfied I really never thought I'd find anywhere with most ridiculous prices and having 5 star nails I just gave up and would pick a boring color every time... I will NEVER go anywhere else read more

Upon arrival the shop was super clean on the inside and I saw they were still using the tub covers for the pedicures which I was extremely happy about. I got a shellac mani & a polish change on my toes for $42. Based on what I've been paying at my normal salon that is GREAT! Mimi was my nail tech. She was a little slow, but she was very thorough and attentive to every detail. I hate nail salons that want to rush you in and out. She was patient with my services, and even my indecisiveness on a color. She also didn't get an attitude when I requested that she not drill on my nails. Lastly, she was focused on ME! Not chit chatting with other nail techs or customers. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 due to 1) speed of service 2) they charge extra if you want more than 2 polish colors and 3) I wanted designs and nobody was there that could do it.
