I went in and requested an asymmetrical bob. I have curly and thick hair for an Asian and, from my experience, only some hairstylist knows how to deal with hair like mine. I was wary but desperate for a new haircut. The hairstylist took note of my curly hair and he did such a great job! I can tell he has a lot of experience by the tools he used and the techniques he used to cut and manage my hair. At the end, he even provided guidance on how to take care of my hair with the new cut I got so it will look the way he styled it at the end. And most importantly, he was so kind. I'm very picky about my hair and am learning what I like as I wanted to go shorter. At my first cut short with Dream, it was storming and the power went out at the salon and we didn't get to do the finishing touches, so she gave me a free product had me come back a couple days later for a complimentary cut where I decided I wanted to go even shorter and get bangs. I still was not satisfied with the cut (let me clarify that Dream is an amazing stylist and did exactly what I asked her to do, but I wanted to pick an owner's brain about what would look good on me), so I requested an apt with an owner. Tony got me in the next day and we took it even shorter and he cut it with a razor. He made it look exactly like the picture I showed him but I still was not satisfied with it on me so I requested to come back again for a pixie and he got me in a few days later. I LOVE how the pixie looks on me. It just took me four separate haircuts to get there. I only paid once for the initial cut. And after the last cut Tony still said to give him a ring if anything else needs to be done. This is pristine customer service. Everyone I interacted with was so patient, accommodating and supportive as I learned how I wanted my hair to look. I've been to 6salon, Alchemy Color Lab, everywhere. Now, I've got thick, straight, black Asian hair. I've been blonde to the root for about three years now. After the 100th disappointing and overcharged hair appointment left my root brassy and chunky, I decided it was time for a change. Peter at New U2 is a godsend. He told me he worked in New York for 15 years before moving to Michigan. I have no idea why he would make that move, but I sure am glad that he did! He and Jake spent 5.5 hours sectioning, foiling, toning, washing, cutting, and drying my hair. It usually wouldn't take that long, but I had grown out my black roots for like. Four months (yeah, I know). After drying, they went through the trouble of touching up and toning some spots that I didn't even notice, so they did the wash/dry cycle one extra time just to be thorough. I also had a brassy band coming in from my last appointment, so they had to figure out bleaching and toning and blending the root from black to brassy to blonde. Not an easy task! All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. This appointment also cost less than my last one, where they did a worse job. They speak Mandarin and Cantonese and English, of course. I can't recommend them enough!

The only woman I trust with my hair is Sue Hyun, this little Korean lady that I've been going to…read moreall my life. The salon is a bit of a hole in the wall and hasn't been updated since the 90s, but I'm happy her business is still standing throughout this dumpster fire of a couple years now. Sue is honestly the only one I trust though and my entire family has been going to her all my life. While my hair is relatively low maintenance, I still don't trust just anyone with Asian hair so if you're reading this and have Asian hair, I can guarantee you'll be in good hands with Sue and really, if you're in the area, why bother trusting anyone else? My mom has really difficult, curly hair, and even she religiously goes to Sue. Her only minor complaint is that Sue sometimes cuts her hair a little short, but the hair grows out really quickly, so that's typically no big deal. If you don't want slightly short hair, then just tell Sue to cut it a bit longer than you might want and then it'll hit perfectly where you want it to. My parents live out of state now, and when they were getting ready to leave, the only thing that made them really emotional to leave Michigan was having to leave Sue. They live in southern California now and even there, they have not been able to find anyone they love like they did Sue, they have barely even found anyone that they tolerate. LOL Every time my parents come back into town, they make sure one of their first stops is getting a hair cut from Sue! Sue is so sweet and always loves seeing them. When I go in for a haircut, which is typically not when my parents are in town, she always inquires about how my parents are doing, which is so thoughtful of her! Sue speaks very little English, she is Korean. My family and I are not Korean, so we mostly communicate with Sue through very short sentences, phrases, and lots of hand gestures! If you're first generation like I am and are used to dealing with your parents' probably broken English, you'll have a pretty easy time communicating with Sue - no worries! Her salon has always been at this location and it definitely looks a bit worse for wear these days. There are those perm chairs (what's the actual term for these) and stacks of old haircut magazines in corners and the space is actually really huge, but all that matters these days are the mirrors and haircut chairs, which is what continues to be well maintained, so I don't really pay much attention to the rest of the space for that matter. Lastly, Sue's pricing is also SO fair and seriously reasonable. When I told a different hairstylist what I pay at Sue's, she was truly shocked and was basically like yeah hold onto that as long as you can! You truly won't find a better haircut for a better price anywhere around here. I love Sue and honestly in writing this review, I am jonesing to get my haircut now - I am overdue for one, so see you soon, Sue! :)

I don't know what to say and the language barrier was so bad but I don't think that was the right way to talk to a customer. Really suggest to have a camera so that every single transaction can be recorded.
