I oversaturated my hair with color and wanted highlights to give it dimension. Jackie did an excellent job! The color was perfect. She was also very aware that my hair was already somewhat fried, so she monitored the bleach so there wouldn't be too much damage. 4 stars because the noise level in the salon was high. I have been seeing Emily here for almost 8 years (we figured out our 8 year anniversary is in August...) She has been thru the ups and downs of my hair journey! Listen: these salons, stylists, support staff and owners are awesome. I'm not one to go through the hassle of leaving a review but I literally created a yelp account to do so for r.Collective. I'm very picky about my hair and am learning what I like as I wanted to go shorter. At my first cut short with Dream, it was storming and the power went out at the salon and we didn't get to do the finishing touches, so she gave me a free product had me come back a couple days later for a complimentary cut where I decided I wanted to go even shorter and get bangs. I still was not satisfied with the cut (let me clarify that Dream is an amazing stylist and did exactly what I asked her to do, but I wanted to pick an owner's brain about what would look good on me), so I requested an apt with an owner. Tony got me in the next day and we took it even shorter and he cut it with a razor. He made it look exactly like the picture I showed him but I still was not satisfied with it on me so I requested to come back again for a pixie and he got me in a few days later. I LOVE how the pixie looks on me. It just took me four separate haircuts to get there. I only paid once for the initial cut. And after the last cut Tony still said to give him a ring if anything else needs to be done. This is pristine customer service. Everyone I interacted with was so patient, accommodating and supportive as I learned how I wanted my hair to look. Additionally, both salons (Clawson and Birmingham) are super clean and just cool spaces to hangout when getting a haircut. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend. read more

The manager at the Clawson location is very rude and out of touch. I called as early as I could to inform her I am sick, coughing, feverish and was not able to make it to my appointment. She said the 50% cancellation fee would still apply- so they would rather me come in unwell and sit in a chair for 3 hours uncomfortable and possibly spread this to their workers and clients rather than waive the cancellation fee and say feel better. Ive been coming to this salon for years even after I moved a half hour away! Such a bummer! read more

I've been going to Rania ever since I started coming here in early 2021 and absolutely love her as a stylist. She does a great job at giving me a simple haircut and going off of any reference photos I bring in. This week though, I was looking to get a trim on short notice and our schedules didn't align so I decided to book with Dream instead and I'm so glad I did! She's so sweet, very attentive and walked me through every step of the haircut and products used. She also gave her opinion of what would look good, checked in to make sure I was comfortable with the amount she was taking off and was just super genuine + sincere throughout the entire session. I've been going here for a few years. I love this salon. It's clean, stylish and up to date on the latest trends. I see Cheyenne. She's excellent at color. She definitely an artist. I love that in this salon they take their time. When it's your turn you will receive 100% of their attention. Also, they keep to their schedule. I don't think I've ever waited over 10 minutes. Also, this is the first place that the hair dye hasn't burned my scalp. They use Wella hair color products. Also, the scalp massage is awesome. Along with being able to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee. The pricing is average maybe a tad higher than average. Totally worth every penny. read more

I love that I can give her a little inspiration and she takes it from there to give me better than I expected. Trusting your stylist is important and every time I trust her to give me the best! She should be called the queen of layers because I always love the layers she gives so I can keep my long hair but still feel lighter and fresh with the cut. Fanar is awesome too as he cuts my husband's hair and always gives a great cut and service. Helena and Fanar also make you feel like you are at home when you are in the salon. I would recommend 10000000000%.

I have been getting my hair cut, colored and styled by Jessica for over a year and she certainly deserves a review. She is fun, passionate, and most importantly, she's incredibly talented. Some days I brought in pictures or reference and each time, my cut and color looked better than the pictures. Other times, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair so I gave her free reign and she completely blew me away, especially with her coloring skills. She is a true artist. R Collective is by far the best salon in the area. I drive over an hour almost monthly to get my hair done by Jessica because it is always worth my time and money. Everyone that works at the salon are genuinely nice people, that all do amazing work. The salon has a relaxing feel and they go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. R Collective is a beautiful, clean salon that I have continuously recommended to family members and friends, who have also became regular clients. I cannot say enough about this amazing salon! read more

Briana is my girl and she should be yours too! She has cut, colored and styled my hair for many years and it's always amazing! Many compliments and requests for her name. I drive from Romeo and it is worth it, believe me. In fact, one of her earlier styles on me has been pinned and repinned on Pinterest for years. It was first pinned from Indulgy and someone commented it was a stylist in London. LOL. Imagine my surprise as the photo was of me after Briana had just styled my hair and I have never been to London! But fortunately for me, I don't have to travel to London to look like I went to a celebrity stylist. Just go to R. Collective Salon in Clawson and ask for Briana, you'll see what I mean. R. Collective just opened up a new salon in Birmingham. I have been going to the Clawson location for years, and was very excited to have a location closer to home. They really outdid themselves with the design, decor, and the art work. It is so vibrant and young and yet cozy that it feels like home. Scott and Amanda are amazing, and the second you walk in, they make you feel like family. They offer an assortment of beverages, and when you sit down for the consultation, they really listen and they know what will work best with your hair type. Honestly, I wish I could give Katie more than 5 stars, because she is freakin STELLAR! She took the time to figure out what I wanted, explained every step of the way, and even took the time to show me some curling techniques! I cannot wait for my next appointment! Kristen did a great job with my son's haircut- a big transformation for him! He's 6 so he is also a little wiggly and she was patient with him and did an overall great haircut. She also was fantastic in recommending we donate his hair to Children With Hair Loss since he was cutting so much. Holly cut my 13 year old son's hair. He has curly hair that is on the longer side and hasn't known what to do with it for two years. Tony and his team are the bombdiggity! I'm a old(er) lady and let's just say my hair has been through a few things over the courts of time. I don't want to make a huge deal because this is a review I should've done back in September of…read more2022 but now that I'm finally getting my hair fixed I think I should say be wary of this place. Photos are from December 2022. Hair still looks the same because it cost me nearly $700 for the 9 hour bleaching session. When the artist declined photos stating it was "too dark in the salon" I knew she knew she messed up. I felt awful for wanting to publish a bad review because she spent 9 whole hours on my hair. But she could've asked me to do this in two sessions and done it right. I was unaware at the time the salons can do separate sessions and have you come back for another bleach or toning. It should've been recommended that I do separate sessions since my hair is nearly 3 feet. Maybe bit off more than she could chew. Again I felt like it was going to be rude to say I didn't like it after 9 hours of work but it's my hair that I've had for 25 years and paid a lot of money for. The initial suggestion was she wanted to do only the top layer of my hair for $700 and leave the inside alone. Which was more reasonable but the same price for less work.. which I feel she did the original plan anyways because of the underside having more severe banding and bleached not as high up. **This review is only about the banding and not about the color. The photos were taken two months after so the initial toning has come out a bit. The original blonde was bright and lovely.
