This pic is what Tania and Derek call an all over toner. The cut was awful as well, amateur not professional! if you're not happy, as I'm not, you can get nothing resolved. I scheduled my appointment with a level two stylist who I thought did a decent job on my hair. This was my first experience at this salon and it was a mix of good and bad. One of the big issues I had was I was there for about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. The stylist apologized and said she was going to give me a mask on her because of the wait. I don't think it would have taken as long if she hadn't been working on at least three or four other clients at the same time as myself. When I called to ask the manager about this she told me that is the norm for a level two stylist. I was surprised by this because why did the stylist have her assistant give me a mask on her? Also, I was very surprised when the stylist dropped the comb twice during my appointment and picked it up and used it on my hair! Luckily, I believe in the 5 second rule lol. read more

I went with my daughter for blowouts for a weeding. They were 20 min for her 25 min late for me. We had transportation to catch for the wedding this time delay caused a rush in getting dressed. I discussed with the manager Kristina who was like that happens. If I was that late as a client I doubt they would honor my appointment. In discussing this with the manager her receptionist made disparaging looks and even got involved. Customer service very lacking our blowouts were good. I have gotten my eyebrows waxed by Mackenzie twice and she did such a good job (she is also a very sweet person). She is very meticulous but quick and it is pretty easy to get a last minute appointment (schedule online). She uses a little calming gel and then eyebrow gel at the end. read more

Honestly, this place is great. They have highly knowledgable and trained stylists that will get you to your best hair. This is the only time I've had a colorist who has nailed it EVERY TIME (Lyndsay) and on top of that recommends products that are actually beneficial. The only reason this place gets 4 out of 5 for me is that each time I have called to set up my next appointment, the day-time receptionist acts is if it is an inconvenience that I am calling. Came for a $20 blow out and was blown away by my blow out with Dakota. I have thick, curly hair normally but I always wear it straight. My hair is good practice for all aspiring hairstylists! Dakota blew it dry and in less than 30 mins! It looked shiny and perfect. Normally I come home and flat iron it but she did it so well I don't even have to. I'll definitely be back for more blow outs with Dakota. She's got a talent for this. I feel like it's pertinent that I be upfront about my poor hair care before continuing with this review. Although I wash my hair daily, I tend to be quite (perhaps far too) lax about brushing my hair and following up with the 6-8 week trim appointments. As a result, my stylist at 6 Salon (Kristina) only sees me once a season. The environment--everything from the furniture to the assistants to the stylists--at 6 Salon is nothing but hip and is enough to make even the dullest person feel like a member of the elite. The stylists are extremely professional and always consult the customer before they cutting commences. Beyond offering the latest in hair-trends, 6 Salon also features a make-up artist (who also performs hair removal) and a manicurist. Although there are many positive features at 6 Salon (they have my loyalty), a few negatives do exist. Firstly, the prices are uniform (starting at around $50 for a cut), however, when getting color and the stylist determines a trim is necessary, the customer is charged for a full hair cut when only 1/4 of an inch or hair is extracted. Also, the better the stylist the longer the wait. Never worry about being 5 minutes late because it's likely that your stylist is still working on their last customer. An added bonus is that 6 caries a variety of up-scale hair products and accessories and can refer to which one is best for the procedure they performed. More so, most stylists are fairly honest and can point you toward a drug-store alternative to the product if you're not interested in spending upwards of $20 on shampoo (Pantene Pro-V is my personal favorite). read more

I have long, thick, wavy hair and I like to have it blown out professionally for special occasions. When I was living in Royal Oak a few years ago, I noticed signage on the window of 6 Salon touting that they have the best blowout in town, so I decided to give them a try. Granted that it is fairly difficult to screw up a blowout, I was extremely pleased with the result and have been back many times since. The salon itself is huge and super trendy. It's in a great location right in downtown Royal Oak and I've never had a problem finding a metered street parking spot nearby. They offer you a drink when you arrive (I'm pretty sure they serve wine sometimes). Every stylist I've had an appointment with has been very friendly and done an incredible job with my hair. I think it usually costs $38. I had my hair blown out yesterday by Lauren and she was great. The gal that shampooed me gave me a nice scalp massage and actually took a 2nd blow dryer to my hair to assist Lauren which sped things up. That was awesome. My hair looked amazing when I left and I received compliments all day. Oh - They also have online booking! Huge plus. read more

There is nothing NOT to love about this salon. The environment is fun and trendy, everyone working there is very nice, prices are totally fair, and most importantly, the results are fabulous. I arrived in Johnny's chair looking for a blonde result that nobody has been able to achieve for me without breaking my hair off. But Johnny did it! Not only is the result amazing (I get compliments all the time) but my hair is healthier than it has ever been. And his assistant, Kasi, who really managed the details of the color choices (darker root, toner choice, etc) and applied it all, killed it. I couldn't be happier. read more

I was happy that they were able to book an appointment for me with less than 24-hours notice, but ended up wishing they hadn't tried to squeeze me in. The staff was very friendly, but they were definitely over-booked and I felt like things were rushed without as much attention to detail as I would prefer. My haircut and color came out OK. I was very surprised when I went to pay that even though I charged my payment, they would not let me charge the tip and suggested they had an ATM available so I could get cash for a tip. I have never encountered this before and when I asked about it, the receptionist had no explanation and only said it is the way they have always done it. I understand why people that have jobs that pay tips would prefer cash, but it is not done in the interest of the customers' convenience. read more

i absolutely do not recommend. I would give it a zero but i can't. I am so fucking disappointed in this bitch ass place. I normally don't write reviews even if the place is really bad, although i don't want anyone else to feel this way. I can't even fathom how awful my hair looks. I don't even want to look in the mirror. Literally don't go here. When I got my hair done, it was towards the end of the night and it was so so so rushed, she did not ask how much hair I wanted cut off. She also left my hair sitting in bleach for so long and made me sit under the heater. i wanted my blonde more gold and I ended up with a platinum purple hair instead. My hair after one day not even was already starting to turn purple. my natural hair when air drying went from being wavy to know poopiyn unhealthy I get this isn't all their fault but I wish they would've at least done a test strand before. Look at that that's awful. Yeah it's really really bad. That's what mine looks like. I should a picture of my inspo and they didn't do what i showed at all in any way. i'm disappointed sad and quite honestly don't know what to do. After all the research I did trying to find the best salon and the best stylist, I STILL had a horrible experience. I explained what I wanted, showed a picture, and yet- as usual- the stylist just did whatever the she wanted. I really hoped this time would be different considering the reputation of this salon but no, I spent $200+ to be disappointed. I mean, I love my haircut, hence the two stars, but the color was a disaster. I asked for a blonde balayage with a good amount of root showing so that it could grow out nicely. I walked out of there the first time with silver, purple and white hair, to the root, and looked like an old lady. My stylist asked me- after the toner was already applied- "you wanted ash blonde, right?" No! But it was too late and I had been there three hours so I was like sure? I didn't really know what that meant anyway and figured she had the sense to go off the picture so maybe it would look okay? Nope. Then she went on to lightly burn my scalp and eyelid with the hairdryer. When I went back to fix my hair, they made me go to the same stylist (so awkward and why should I have to see the person who didn't listen to me the first time again??) and my hair looked great but the color was applied all the way to the root so now I have to get my hair done again much sooner than I hoped. While "fixing" her mistake, my stylist insisted that the picture was ash blonde (it was definitely not) and forgot (twice) which side I asked her to part my hair on and ended up styling it on the wrong side. People say my hair looks great but when I show the picture of what I asked for they say "oh, yeah- that looks nothing like it". Never going back. read more

Recently i ran into a non hair related issue at the salon and i could not be more happy with the way they handled it. The manager Derrick was able to intervene, stay calm, and handle it like a pro. I got a smoothing/straightening treatment here last year and my hair is still recovering from the damage. I've had treatments before and my hair was thick and healthy, but the treatment process and results were horrible -- the heat from the blowdryers was burning the product into my scalp and emitting fumes that were so bad my eyes were watering. They acted like it was normal so I didn't want to think much of it, but a year later and I look in the mirror everyday and see fried, damaged hair. I paid a good amount of money for this service, so just bummed and would not recommend. read more
