Naturally, probably 85% of the haircuts I have received in my life have been compliments of Rosa as well. She has been in her current location for a number of years now- her husband used to work alongside her as a barber, but it is pretty much just all her these days. Most of her customer base is a loyal group that have been coming to her for days - as she is kind of in the basement of a psuedo-office building; it's not like she relies on foot traffic. I don't think her services go beyond hair - she'll cut it, color it or style it. She was responsible for the one and only perm I subjected myself to. One thing that could be looked at as a positive or a negative is that she will yell at you if you want to do something that is going to look downright horrible on you. She says friends don't let friends do those things. She's pretty much right. If I am looking for something fresh and trendy or just want a drastic change, I will admit- I don't usually come here. But for my tried and true basic hair cut and color, I can always rely on Rosa. She does a decent job and has never butchered my hair (except for that perm that I demanded back in the day). After this many years - it is definitely the most comfortable place for me to go. I am always probably there 20 minutes longer than I need to be just talking. On top of this - Rosa's prices are ridiculous. I pay for a cut and color AFTER tip what I would pay for just a trim at a regular salon BEFORE tip. So even if I don't walk out looking like I just walked off the pages of a fasion magazine, at least I still have money in my wallet!

The entrance on 12 Mile is not the one to use, you park and enter at the back. It was much easier the second visit. I went with a cute bob and side shave, and Penny did exactly what I asked. She is very friendly and we chatted a lot. She shampooed and conditioned my hair, cut some, dried it, flat ironed it and then cut some more. The dry cut works best on my bob, as I have natural waves and curls when my hair is wet. I even have a friend that is a hairdresser that complimented my cut and said my stylist really knows what she is doing. That is high praise in my opinion.

Some of the services I got wasn't exactly written on their services or whatever so I think they just filled in the blank. I was charged for a weave take out or something like that but I had completely natural twists. Also before they even started, I told them I wanted stitch braids or twists again. They said okay, they're gonna call their braiders to come in but they're gonna take down my hair and start the wash anyway. They were probably 30% into taking my hair down when one of the ladies called the braider and she said she couldn't come. Once she hung up, she was telling me I could come back Tuesday because she'd be there then. I don't expect to walk out with any style because they just told me they couldn't and to come back for what I wanted. By the way, this is a place that'll say you're tender headed instead of being more gentle. Even the washer was pretty heavy handed. Anyway, they flat ironed and styled my hair straight with a middle part and charged me for that. I really would've just taken the blow out and left and waited for the people to be there that can actually do what I wanted instead of being charged for something I completely didn't. They charged me around $133 for that, I was expecting to pay around 90 and was gonna come back for a $60 stitch braid style...nope. They were gonna charge me $80 to finish the job and so I had to find a random girl that does hair out of her house to do the braids and she only charged me $45 so I was able to stay within my hair budget. So if you go there, you can't book appointments or really talk to people prior about a plan and you better make sure the people that's there can actually do what you want before you even get started. My hair is long and dense so I'm not worried about any partial refund (not that I think they'd give me one anyway, read their return and refund policies) but I feel I was over charged maybe about $33 at least. Like I said before tho, the women were nice and had a great vibe. A huge plus for me given the fact that I have really bad anxiety is the fact that they have private rooms at first so I didn't have to be around a bunch of people or be embarrassed about them taking down my dirty ass hair. That mix up or whatever you would call it was just frustrating to me.

I came back for them to fix the cut however it resulted in an even worse cut. it is a horrible cut cannot be styled in anyway or curled straightened. To add insult to injury i paid and tipped a lot! I suggest a great clips cut for 20 buck. I dont need coffee i need a professional person who legitimately knows how to cut and style hair not high priced hacks ! I have photo evidence it has affected my style career relationship and esteem and mood ! eventually it will grow back in the mean time it i am very unhappy with the cut this salon and the poor service i experienced .

I just went a few days ago for my 4th visit in a year and Helena did an amazing job giving me a new fresh spring look. I love that I can give her a little inspiration and she takes it from there to give me better than I expected. Trusting your stylist is important and every time I trust her to give me the best! She should be called the queen of layers because I always love the layers she gives so I can keep my long hair but still feel lighter and fresh with the cut. Fanar is awesome too as he cuts my husband's hair and always gives a great cut and service. Helena and Fanar also make you feel like you are at home when you are in the salon.
