I have been to a bunch of salons around Grosse Pointe over the last ten years, and Holly was by far the best stylist I've had. Mediocre. I got the simplest hair cut possible and as I got home I realized my bangs and front were VERY uneven. Usually stylists check that type of thing but looking back mine did not. I opted for a more "premium" tier stylist but did not notice a difference in quality from when I had been here previously at a lower pricing tier. I guess you could say this one of the better places the area could offer but I would continue to shop around. read more

This salon has tiered pricing, meaning the more experienced stylist you get, the more expensive the service. You can get a reasonable price by selecting one of the younger stylists. If you're price conscious make sure to ask about the stylist price list when booking your appointment. Their stylists are very talented, customer-oriented, and very professional. I've never had a bad haircut or color, and I've been to 2 different stylists. The place is always clean, and they always offer refreshments to customers. Another thing that I love is their online appointment booking system. It's also really great for keeping track of appointments, and what product(s) you've bought. I am TERRIBLE with names, so it helps me to know I'm booking an appointment with the same stylist. read more

I was looking for a new salon and I found the perfect place with the very best stylist.. Her name is Katie. She was super friendly, very accommodating, very interested in Me! She reviewed my allergies to make sure that I wouldn't have any bad reactions to any of their hair products. She was very knowledgeable and so easy to work with on updating my hair color, length and layers. I was so pleased when I left and when I came home my husband said "I really love your sexy hair!". I couldn't be happier that I was so desperate to chop off my hair after getting back from my honeymoon and Edwin Paul was the only salon open on Mondays that I could find! Kasey cut my hair (and it was a major cut, at least 10") and did an amazing job. I liked the vibe in the salon. I had been looking for an east side place that didn't have the "scene" of the west side salons and I found it. I also went back 3 weeks later and had a blow out which was also great! The best part about it was the price...$45 for a major haircut. I was prepared to have to drive to Royal Oak and pay at least $60! Lindsey gave me the best color that I've had in years. So many people notice and compliment the balayage ombre highlights she created. They look "better than natural" and flatter my skin tone perfectly. Edwin Paul is actually a very far drive for me and I only discovered it by accident when I needed a quick blow-out in the area, but I plan to keep returning in the future. read more

This salon is perfect! I am a regular here. Every time I go, the experience is so special and I always feel so beautiful once my hair is all done. My favorite beautician is Donna, hands down! I request her every time I make an appointment. She does blow outs for me and then styles it for me with my hair extensions in. Donna is so talented but also very funny and sweet. I've also had Lindsay, Alyssa, Jennifer Johnson, and Mary K. I was happy with all of them. As for the salon, it is gorgeous and very clean. The two receptionists are so great! I love Shelby who always does whatever she can to arrange my appointments around my schedule. The other receptionist is great, too. Her name is Suzanne and one time she went through a lot of trouble to make sure that I had Donna. I highly recommend coming here :) read more

I LOVE massages, and everyone in my life know this. That's why my sister gave me a gift certificate to the Edwin Paul Day Spa for my birthday. On the day of my appointment, I was annoyed to find that there was no free parking for spa customers. Many of the meters in the area had time limits on them that would have put me at risk of getting a ticket. How can I relax when the threat of a parking ticket is hanging over my head?? They should have warned me when I made the appointment so I could come prepared with quarters! When I got inside, the receptionist greeted me and took me to the "back" so I could change into a robe and start relaxing while I filled out my paper work. The only problem was that the "back" was actually in the bathroom! She instructed me to put all my belongings into a locker and said that my therapist would be with me shortly. I get that some people might think it's comfortable to be sitting in a robe around strangers, but I'd rather have my pants on. There I was, trying to embrace every moment of this fancy spa experience, but my anxieties were mounting just trying to keep my legs shut, the robe shut, and my eyes/ears/nose off the freaking bathroom stalls that filled the "back" room that I was in. If they want to have people hang out in a room before their massages, how about making it a nice, dimly lit, pleasant smelling room... maybe a room that doesn't have toilets in it? Anyway, my massage therapist finally came to rescue me from the "back" and take me to the treatment room. It was a welcomed change of scenery. She didn't even spend two minutes with me before she left the room though. She didn't ask what I wanted to work on, or if there was anything I didn't like, or if I have ticklish feet or anything! She just told me to start face down (lucky for her, that's usually my preference anyway). It was supposed to be a 90 minute session, and I'm certain my time was cut short when my therapist ran out of moves - lame! The time that she did spend working on me was sort of disappointing too - like zero pressure! I guess it was like a skin massage, instead of a muscle massage. I'm not totally opposed to the idea, but it's not really what I was hoping for. Despite all the layers of disappointment associated with my visit, I still felt obligated to tip a million dollars - not sure why, but that's the way it goes, I guess. I don't think I'll be visiting this spa again. It expensive, uptight, uncomfortable and really not that nice inside. read more

I've been a patron off and on depending on the stylist. Two stylists were great but unfortunately are not there any longer. Not knowing this, I called and made an appoint with "Sara." I was asked which one, described her, then was told fine. When I showed for my appointment, Sara was not "my Sara." I was told that "my Sara" was no longer there. I asked new Sara is she had experience with long hair. She replied "absolutely." In fact, she replied that to everything I asked. Fast forward....2 hours later I am still there. The cut is a disaster. Bangs crooked. I wear a long layered cut. Another stylist is attempting to fix. Finally, I run out of patience. A senior stylist comes to my rescue and we talk. I sacrifice a total of 6 inches that night to be able to walk away with a decent cut, but bangs would have to stay as is because they were "too screwed up" and you don't want short, short bangs. I am not charged. The owner calls the next day to see how I'm doing. To his credit, he says Sara will be going to school to learn better techniques. Good for her. Bottom line: Some are great. Some are not. Be careful. read more

Donna did my wedding day hair and Alisa did my wedding day make-up. Both were great and the staff was super accommodating when I was cancelling and rebooking hair appointments at the last minute for my bridesmaids and family. The make-up ended up looking fabulous for my pictures, and even the false eyelashes (which I wasn't sure I wanted to go with at first) looked better than I expected, and totally natural. Alisa did airbrush makeup on me, and it lasted the entire day too, which was so nice! Thanks Alisa! read more

I absolutely love this salon. First of all, I love the atmosphere-- very sleek and stylish. The stylists always look SO pretty and the front desk girls are very friendly and accommodating. The salon sells high quality products at the front of the store. I have been very happy with all of my hair appts. here. My hair always LOOKS & feels great. Parking can sometimes be a pain (well, that's GP!), but it's worth it! Definitely book early because they're very busy... and they're also more high end. read more

I have been going to Edwin Paul for years now, so has my mom and my grandma. Everytime we walk in, we are greeted with a warm welcome. All three of us go to Sherilynn for our hair. Needless to say, she is the most talented stylist i have ever seen. She is outstanding with color, highlights, lowlights, and cut. She has taken me from dark brunette to blond to ombre and back to blond, every time making my hair look incredible. She always makes sure my hair looks natural and stylish! I know that she will always do her best to achieve the look i am going for, while always keeping my hair looking healthy. She knows her stuff. I can always count on her to tell me if what i want will look good or not. I trust her 100%! She is the stylist to go to!! I also started going to Amanda for my shellac manicure and pedicures. She is fantastic. She also does cute and fun artwork upon request. This is a must for me because i love fun designs for my nails! I recently did a red shellac with black lace on the thumb and ring finger. It looked so classy and it is perfect for the holidays! She takes her time to ensure the manicure and pedicure come out looking perfect. I have short nails, and she even shaped them perfectly! This is something i cant do easily!
