I had searched high and low for a spa in the Macomb and Oakland County area that just offered services for foot massage only for weeks. I didn't know it would be so hard to find a place that offered this specific service only, but it was very difficult. After contacting about 10 spas, I found Spa in the Woods on Yelp, and read some reviews that I was satisfied with. So I decided to book the service, along with a full body massage service for my friend. And I'm so glad that I did decide to go with this spa! My initial observation of the spa was that is very clean, and the front desk staff was nice and professional. The appointments started right on time, and my appointment was with a young lady named Samantha. Samantha was super friendly and just had an overall sweet demeanor. She did a great job with my foot massage, and usually when I receive a spa service, I don't talk, but we both talked and we're engaged in conversation the entire 30 minutes of the massage. I couldn't believe how fast the time flew! I enjoyed the massage, and my only regret was that I didn't book an hour massage, opposed to the 30 minutes. I plan to return for about foot massage soon! I have to admit, that I was torn on writing this review. I don't like to bad mouth anyone. I made my appointment online, and was called within 4 hours to confirm my appointment by a very nice lady. She was the same lady who greeted me at the counter when I arrived. There is parking in the front, but because of the weather I parked behind the building and used the back entrance. I was there for a facial and the prices were pretty decent. However, I feel my esthetician was nervous. She asked me to leave my pants on (although I was covered), so I was laying on my belt, which was uncomfortable and felt weird. She asked me how I felt about extractions... which I had clearly noted on my form that it was preferable. She seemed to not have a "direction", as if she was figuring it out as she went. Although she was very sweet, I still felt muddy after leaving, and my skin was dry and flaky for days! Beware your car will get ticketed parking outside even if you are 5 minutes over. I'm sorry to say, the spa has seen better days. It's a little run down. I expect more for what you are paying. The spa had a nice relaxing vibe and everyone i interacted with was friendly. I got a prenatal massage from Ariel and it was wonderful. They have a special massage table with a spot for your bump and it was surprisingly awesome to be able to lay on my stomach for a little while. They also have a infrared sauna you can use after the massage. Which i couldn't utilize but it's nice to know for future visits! I did however use the stream shower for a little while after, it has a bonus shower head and it was so awesome. Overall five stars. read more

I came here for a massage and it was fantastic. Their prices are very competitive and massages include a steam shower or sauna after. There is a locker room where you can change into a robe (provided) and shower after your massage if you want. They provide all supplies needed to shower and fix your hair after - but I was just going home to eat Greek salad after so I didn't use these amenities. My friend and I spent the morning at the Spa in the Woods. We bought the Great Escape package and oh my goodness, what an escape it was. The atmosphere of the spa is quaint and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had fabulous massages, manicures and pedicures. But I have to say the absolute highlight of the day was the European facial!! This was by far the BEST facial I have ever had. Superb technique, relaxing environment, beautiful product, and a neck and arm massage to die for! This is probably my favorite spa place. Definitely the best on the East side. Very relaxing and clean. The masseuses are all excellent, but my top choice is always Jessica! I love being able to take a steam shower afterwards. I have also enjoyed using the infrared sauna before my massage. If I could give this establishment negative stars I would. Despite the previous positive ratings and reviews, I can't accurately describe how disappointed I was in the facial I received here. It was the most aggressive, painful, unpleasant experience I have ever had in a facial. The scrubs and masks were slapped on my face and carelessly shoved up my nostrils and I felt like I was accosted with the towels. While this is likely a reflection of the aesthetician I was booked with, any spa that keeps an employee on staff like that will never earn my trust again.
