I chose this place because of its good reviews, but my session did not live up to expectations given the cost of the treatment. This feedback is in hopes of the business to improve and for clients to also get other perspectivces. I chose the Thai massage service because of my specific pains and experience with this type of massage that focuses on my specific needs and muscle aches. I felt that those were not addressed and in hindsight, I should have been even more verbal with the masseur, Kristopher. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and assumed what he was doing was assessing my body prior to the actual therapy. First off, Kristopher was professional and kind. However, I felt his skills are too nascent and he doesn't understand the full client's needs. Below are some instances that immediately ticked me off: 1. When leaving he said he would knock prior to entering. Although I was ready, I did not hear him knock before he entered. 2. I specified on my intake form about the pain points in my neck and shoulders. He spent way too much time on my toes and only what felt like the last 10 minutes on my chief complaint. 3. He needs to be aware of his client's body. One instance, he laid my hands down with the fingers still awkwardly bent, but did not adjust me before moving onto another body section. Meaning, as a client, I lay as relaxed and motionless as possible. I expect the masseur to position me in a position of therapy. Another instance was that he sat on the palm of my hand while working on another body section; he should be aware of the client's body to not unnecessarily move or touch the body. 4. I arrived before 2pm but had to use the restroom. I then filled out paper work, connected with Kristopher. This must meant that my actual therapy did not begin until 1210p. I paid for a full 2 hours, but the massage ended at 2pm. I understand the need for business efficiency, but from a client's perspective, I felt ripped-off. 5. He did not intuitively find my areas of pain; glancing over large knot and spending too much time on unnecessary areas. He performed a percussion style where her pounded my thigh with his fists, but I'll be honest - it was not therapeutic at all. It was quite painful, but since I like pain, I decided to let him do it to both sides, before I realized it was not therapeutic. 6. Kristopher made recommendations post therapy. While this was kind, his recommendations are what I have already been doing. Maybe it's the bad experience overall, but I interpreted this as him failing to ask the right questions or failing to listen. I appreciated the cleanliness of the facility and ease of booking. I've driven by this place probably thousands of times since they open 3 years ago. It's on my way in to and from work. I take Southfield road pretty much every day. It caught my eye when it first opened up as I'm a huge fan of thai massage and still remember some of my best massages that I received were all in Thailand. I realize the cost of an hour massage here is about three times more than I would've paid in Thailand though. It's was so dark in the lobby, I thought that Thai herbal massage was closed even though I had an appointment tonight. Someone did come out and to the desk and told me that my therapist would be coming out. She did a minute or so later. No paperwork here. This woman took me to a room, it's much bigger than I would have thought. She asked if I knew what I needed to do and I said yes. I confirmed that she wanted me face down and she said yes. She told me there's a hook on the back of the door for my jacket. She exited and I got ready for my massage. Ka, my massage therapist came and knocked on my room to ask if I was ready. I told her I was. She came in right at the start of my appointment time, nice. Ka put a hot cloth on feet, used it to rub and clean my feet, felt good. She later used other hot cloths for my shoulder, upper chest, arms, legs and back area. Partly for a quick cleaning from the oils and to give a last bit of soothing massage. It felt really comforting and warm and calming. Ka's pressure was great, she mixed up her pressure too, from light touches to much deeper massage work. She would use her fingers, legs, knees, heel of her palm, elbows and knuckles. She stretched me out well too. She was barefooted so she could easily and nimbly move around the bed and work around and sometimes kneeling on top of my legs or back. Don't be worried but this is normal for a Thai massage. Also, they do some glute (yes, your bum) work so be sure to let the therapist know any areas you don't want massaged at all, mine is the head. Not cool with anyone touching my head with greasy fingers and let Ka know, she stayed away from my head the whole hour. This is probably one of the best deep tissue massages I've had outside of Thailand, that's sad, but so true. I will definitely be back. This was truly a deep tissue massage and exactly what I wanted. The stretching was great too. I already wanted to have another massage tomorrow. I was thinking how great it would be to get a massage from Ka every week. That would be so great. Just a follow-up, had a great and deep sleep after my massage last night. I was still so well relaxed by bedtime that I feel asleep. I don't usually sleep through the night normally at all.

She ran through a normal massage, nothing to write home about. As someone who gets massages on a regular basis, I know a great massage from an average. This was very average. She even directly asked me if I was going to tip (while I was still putting my clothes on). That was weird and poor customer service. Who are you talking to...? I should have never tipped her. It's January and 20 degrees outside so I started thinking their heat wasn't working because only cold air was coming out from the vents. Upon complaining, the lady said she didn't notice it was cold and added a towel to my super thin sheet cover. After I was done, I realized the thermostat said 66 degrees. In the lobby, the front desk lady had a coat on the chair that she was wearing because the lobby must have been low 60s or 50s. I will not be returning.
