Wow Lutie's blew me away! This was such a hidden gem on beautiful grounds and fantastic service. I called ahead and asked if they had room for a reservation on the same day in about 30 mins and they were able to accommodate me and my fiancé no problem. We got there ~1:15pm and were seated almost immediately. Great service. Beautiful decor inside and outside lots of plants! We ordered the lobster crepe (YÉCORA ROJO CRÊPE * maine lobster, mornay) and the croque madame (CROQUE MADAME * smoked ham, sunny-side egg, gruyere). The lobster crepe had a generous portion of lobster and was so creamy and delicious. The croque madame was also fantastic. They were about $30 each. To drink we had one of our favorite ciders, Texas Keeper which was crisp and refreshing. I will definitely be back! read more

One of the best dining experiences I've had in Austin so far. You can't get on the Commodore Perry grounds unless you're a member or are attending an event or have a dinner reservation, so it's a great opportunity to eat somewhere nice while touring the beautiful gardens and hotel. We started off with cocktails - the texas holdem and the gin cucumber one were both lovely. The fat wash of the texas holdem made it rich but not overly heavy. The star of the meal was hands down the estate bread. A set of fluffy sourdough english muffins with the best butter ever. Each dish was wonderful - between two people they recommended ordering 3-4 dishes. We also got the green dish, the trout, and the crudo - all were excellent, and the crudo stood out for the sauce. By the end of the meal we were sated without feeling heavy at all. It was my birthday, so they capped the meal with a complimentary grapefruit soft serve. It's pricey but worth it for the thoughtful food and attentive service. Highly recommend booking here for a special occasion, especially if the weather is nice to explore the grounds. read more

My first visit was pretty nice. I very much appreciated the decor/ set up. Upon entering the property, the parking situation was a bit confusing. There aren't any signs/ obvious parking areas other than a gravel lot in the back of the property. There wasn't a valet worker present, so I had to park in the back lot. Regarding food- Oysters are $2 each on Wednesday (no, they're not gulf oysters). I ordered 1.5 dozen of those along with a couple of items from the menu- Estate Bread and Texas Pork. I tried to order the Crudo, but they were out of stock. For desert, we opted for espresso martini's. Everything tasted great aside from the butter beans that were included in the pork dish. Note- they ask that you place your entire order at once. I didn't rate Lutie's 5 stars because I felt our server was a tad too pushy when it came to ordering food items. I shouldn't have to decline multiple times when ordering/ not ordering food. The staff should respect that the guests have made their decisions and not try to strong arm you into ordering extra items to upsell. I understand the concept of providing suggestions, but no means no. All in all, I wouldn't be opposed to returning to try other items on their menu. read more

Lutie's is a treat. Theres no other way to describe it. I think my favorite genre of restaurants is 'hidden in plain sight' - And Luties is situated inside the beautiful Commodore Perry hotel situated on a historic estate. We legitimately stumbled onto this restaurant after a disappointing dinner elsewhere, and we looked up places with bread and butter service. Lutie's popped up. The location is beautiful, looking over the private garden grounds of the hotel. The interior is lush and beautiful, with a retro green motif and hanging plants. We got a few things- The estate bread and butter, which they are known for: The butter itself was a little work of art, featuring two types of butter interwoven to create a mille-feuille style effect. Attention to details like that bode well for first impressions. We got the warm chickpeas as well with the lime yogurt and the beets with black garlic and dill. Both had great bright pops of flavor. That evening our vibe was vegetarian and they delivered with all the dishes. To finish off, we had probably one of the best ice cream flavors ever- The Kouign Amann ice cream. With little bits of Kouign Amann pastry and a caramel topper served in a retro ice cream goblet, it was heavenly. The food is meant to be shared family style and is coursed out per the recommendations of the server. Since my initial dinner visit, my favorite thing to do is go for happy hour to get the best dirty martini with fresh stuffed blue cheese olives in town. Also the kouign Amman ice cream is the best dessert I've ever had. I went for brunch for the first time this weekend and was blown away yet again. The menu offered a variety of sweet and savory dishes. 10/10. I will be thinking about that Maine lobster crepe, shrimp and grits, and apple cider soft serve for a long time. read more

Came to Lutie's for a bridal brunch (party of 6) and left pretty disappointed. We were required to do a prix fixe menu (would've preferred ordering ourselves). Service started strong but quickly fell off. The meal took over 3 hours, and two guests with dietary restrictions (which we shared a month in advance when we made the reservation) waited ~45 minutes for food while the rest of the group were already eating. When it finally came out, the dairy-free bagels were burnt to a crisp and the response to replacing them felt annoyed. On top of that, they forgot to serve the cake we brought until we were literally standing up to leave, which added another 30-45 minutes. For a $750+ bill, just not worth it. Beautiful space, but execution and service really missed the mark. read more

I had brunch at Lutie's with a friend this past Sunday when I was visiting Austin. Lutie's is a restaurant on the property of the Commodore Perry, one of Austin's finest hotels (10 acres of gardens and several buildings, including an Italian Renaissance Revival mansion, and still in the heart of Austin). It's small, just a few tables (more outside overlooking some of the gardens if the weather participates, but it was way too hot this past weekend for anyone to be sitting outside). And it's gorgeous (green, lush, plants galore). We tried two of their brunch dishes: Yecora Rojo Crepe with Maine Lobster and Mornay and the Oyster Mushroom Hash Brown with a fried egg, radish, and habanero. I enjoyed the hash brown, but I'll be thinking about that crepe for a while. Absolutely delicious. I wish we'd had room for more (or had a larger party so we could try and share more dishes), but I really enjoyed what we ordered. We also had a cocktail and wine, respectively. My friend got their Michelutie (a really interesting take on a michelada), and I had a glass of C.L. Butaud's Pinot Gris Ramato (and orange wine from the Texas High Plains). Both were great with our brunch dishes. If you're thinking of visiting, I did love brunch. But heads up - they offer a "social hour" from 5-10pm on Mondays and 5-6pm Tuesdays-Sundays (which includes 50% off bottles of wine) and $2 oyster night on Wednesdays (until they run out). Came into Luties for the second time; this time on a work trip instead of a bachelorette party. The last time the place was packed; prime time August Saturday night. This time a quiet late February and I wanted an excellent steak & atmosphere. Loved it even more the second time. Crazy to say that bread is the highlight but it truly is. The butter is incredible. I had a delicious greens salad, bread and steak. I took the famous ice cream home and devoured it within a few days. Almost like a flaky pastry mixed in. Service was so kind and sat me towards the end of their night and didn't rush me. I also had a delightful glass of wine but dont remember what I landed on. Highly recommend!!! It sets the tone and creates an ambiance that flows with the property outside. They pulled the nature in perfectly! Seating: There is bar seating, which we did sit at for a bit while waiting for our reservation. There are also a few 2 tops by the windows and booths inside. There is outside seating as well Service: The service here is amazing! The staff is all very nice and polite. They're also very good at making recommendations! The timing of the courses was all great as well. Food: Breakfast was amazing and simple. It set the bar pretty high for dinner. For dinner we opted for the tasting menu they had that night (it had wine or cocktail pairings but we didn't drink) - That was a game changer! Everything was so delicious! They were also accomodating to our food allergy for one of the plates which was appreciated (rather than just getting rid of that course, they substituted it). The only issue we had was at dinner - the booths were pretty close together. Not noticeably so in normal situations, but the table next to us had a guest that was LOUD - both verbally and with his large mannerisms. Overhyped, not worth going back to and definitely not the place I would pick for a special occasion. I was excited to check it out based on the pictures of the estate. There was a large tent blocking the outside view and it's not like I've never seen nicely trimmed bushes before. We came here for lunch. The food just isn't what I expected. An upscale brunch spot located in an estate with beautiful gardens this place serves some amazing fresh plates. We made reservations for 6 and we were sat right in the center, so we had a great view of the bar and the garden patio. The atmosphere was surreal, it takes you into a floral forest fantasy, with mirrors reflecting on all sides. Our server was sublime, he was attentive and friendly. Always seemed to know what we needed before we asked. The staff was always ready to assist, as we had some mishaps with drink orders but it was more of a preference than a kitchen error. However they immediately tried to remedy the situation and we were happy with the outcome. The food was plated beautifully and had great flavors and textures. However, the portion sizes for the premium items like lobster crepe were a bit on the smaller size. They use very fresh ingredients but flavors are lacking. The aioli dish was a standout. I was a big fan of their pickled green beans and sweet, juicy tomatoes. They paired perfectly with the aioli. The watermelon radish was bitter though. The shrimp omelette dish had a nice bouncy texture. Bagel dish was okay, lots of good ingredients but when you combine them I wasn't too impressed. Pastries were as you would expect them to be. The crepe and frittata weren't particularly memorable to me... 3/5. I was very disappointed by their chai and matcha pistachio ice cream. Had such a great experience here! As soon as you pull into the driveway, you feel like you're far outside of the city on vacation. The grounds are beautiful, and the inside of the restaurant is just as stunning. There are plants hanging from the ceiling, views of the garden, and great theming throughout. We were here for brunch and ordered the estate bread, mushroom hash brown, and turkish eggs. Everything was delicious! I loved the estate bread, and it came with amazing butter. We were recently at Lutie's to celebrate our anniversary. One of us has been there a couple times before, and had a middling experience on both occasions--this most recent visit was no different. Lutie's runs more on hype than on excellence. Not the greatest impression when we first went to get seated and were going to be put by a door on a cold night; we asked to switch to another table, so the guy walking us brought us to the host stand, and then just left us there. So odd! Thanks for the customer service. When we finally did get sat, we do have to say that our server was very nice and was mostly on top of our table, which we appreciated. Some of the dishes we had were superb while others fell pretty flat. We started with the roasted beets and chickpeas, and we loved both dishes. The beets were almost kind of chewy/candied, and the texture was a nice surprise. The chickpeas were prepared with Indian seasonings and we loved the combination with the yogurt. So, good start, but then our mains came out. $32 for barbecued shrimp, and what do you get? Six whole shrimp on a plate with NOTHING ELSE and they are not shelled AND you are not given the proper utensils to eat them with. Yes, it's really fun trying to cut your shrimp with what is virtually a butter knife! And speaking of butter, it is such a pet peeve when restaurants serve bread (which we ordered) and then the butter comes out hard as hell--straight out of the walk-in. Amateur hour! The swordfish entree was pretty good, but nothing impressive, and because everything was drowning in the broth, the whole thing ate soggy. We did enjoy the two cocktails we ordered after our champagne. For dessert we went with the kouign amman ice cream, and it was spectacular--such a creative and fun treat. The mango and coconut custard was, in a word, disgusting. The texture was mealy, the flavors were off and we only took one bite each of it. (Our server clearly saw that and yet he still didn't take it off the final bill, which would have been a meaningful gesture.) TL;DR: we came, we saw, we ate, and we have no need to return again. Located in the commodore estate, when you drive in, you are greeted by valet, who will take your car since parking is very limited. The grounds are beautiful, so make sure to check it out for good pictures! We started off with the Sunnyside cocktail, which we substituted the vodka with gin, which was sooo good and refreshing! We also got the jasmine green tea which was really good and served in a pretty tea cup! For our food, we started off with the Petit Aioli, which had a variety of seasonal vegetables and some deviled eggs, with a delicious dipping aioli!! We also got the gulf shrimp omelette which was so good especially with the smoked trout roe and chives on top! The star of the meal was definitely the YÉCORA ROJO CRÊPE! I was surprised that there was ample lobster inside and the mornay cheese sauce was so light and velvety! Definitely a must order!! I went here for two of my birthdays. The first one was a [5] while the other was barely a [3]. I'm giving at a [4] for now to be mathematically fair. The restaurant and property are both beautiful and the atmosphere is very romantic and intimate during the dinner time. Almost makes me feel bummed both visits were with friends and not with a date :D During the first time, i was here for my birthday and everything was great! The food was amazing. Our server was really sweet and extremely attentive. He made the evening feel special without having to scream a happy birthday song. Our group shared a bunch of dishes, most of which were recommended by our server, and all were spectacular. He suggested plates that would both complement each other, but not feel too repetitive. The second visit left a lot to be desired. It was a smaller group this time (that's what happens when people move out of town :c ), but we ordered pretty much the same stuff since the menu was exactly the same both times. And the food was great just like the time before. Except the steak was unavailable that day and we doubled down on fish. It was a good thing we knew what was already good since our server didn't give any suggestions and skipped the menu tour after she heard that we've bee here before. It was not busy since it was a week night, yet our server only touched the table at greeting, took some of the order, and dropped the bill. It seemed that she was prioritizing serving a slightly bigger party a table away. Actually most of the job (including taking the remainder of this order) was done by another person. I don't know if it was a server assistant or maybe a trainee. But she was much more attentive and put effort into introducing the dishes once they arrived. This is a very much retroactive review and only reflects things as they were during my past two visits. I have no idea how things are now. I even remembered about writing a review just because I was thinking of what I wanted to do for my upcoming birthday. But since my last experience was not great, it likely will not be here this year. We walked into Lutie's garden style restaurant at Commander Perry Estate, with ingredients sourced from the estates own gardens. Maybe it was the three yummy drinks I had before dinner, but I did not get an unadulterated image of my food when it was served. I attacked everything as it hit the table and the whole dinner was outstanding, starting with the estate bread (no image available because we ate it all before I remembered this). It reminded me of my grandmothers delicious homemade bread, because it was made from scratch. The server was very attentive and her explanations of the meals were so enticing...and with good reason. They served a delicious chick pea spread that was complimentary, and with the warm bread it made it into a meal before our dinner was even served. We had a delicious cabbage dish secondarily, but when the wagyu beef (with sweet potatoes) arrived, I was in heaven. I absolutely love this restaurant. It's a hidden gem in Austin. It looks like a château in Versailles. There is a beautiful garden, and we sat with my service animal out of the patio. The trout itself was flavorless, although cooked to perfection and the spinach rice accompaniment was delicious. Quail was good. Overall, a decent experience but not sure I would go again. Bonus. 5 stars - food 4 stars - I wanted to love it I really really did, but there were only a few things I loved. We ordered several things which were meant for sharing. I will touch on the things I loved - the drinks - wow! I normally don't drink mezcal but I had two of the rose drink - gosh I wish I could remember what it was called because it's not on their website but it was too easy to drink! The caviar and martini presentation was awesome. My husband loved being able to make his martini as dirty as he wanted. The scallops were the best thing we ate. The wagyu steak was ok- I'm not a fan of covering beautiful meat with sauces and vegetables. I think meat as expensive as that should stand out as the star. But that's my opinion. We arrived at Lutie's 30 minutes late for our reservation and missed the chance to sit inside to admire the beautiful ceiling. No worries, though, because we're already planning our return visit. Service was very attentive and gave a thorough menu rundown, though there was some pressure to order at least 5 dishes, even after we ordered 4 dishes for the 2 of us. We ended up much fuller than anticipated. Their signature estate butter and bread lived up to the hype: beautifully spreadable butter paired with pillow-soft, salty bread packed with flavor even on its own. The scallop crudo, layered with apples and peppers, perfectly hit a tangy, fruity, and slightly spicy flavor palette. So generously portioned too with a bed of scallops. The warm Green Dish salad was super comforting, with smoky, juicy butternut squash. I didn't know butternut squash could be so juicy! The antelope dish, paired with figs, bok choy, and a guajillo sauce, was amazing. I couldn't stop dipping bread in that sauce. It was mind-blowing. For a sweet finish, the Grilled Texas Camembert leaned toward dessert, despite being toasted bread, and had a nice sweet twist. Everything was flawless.
