We were waiting to be seated and picked up a food basket someone left, to empty in the trash can, simply to be kind and helpful and the server snapped at us to leave it alone and said "the tables are dirty for a reason" to which we replied we were only trying to be helpful and she rudely dressed me down in front of the rest of the customers. She could have been kind, but her apparent lack of empathy made kindness impossible for here. I will steer everyone away from ever stopping at Luther's. We took our family elsewhere to enjoy our lunch. read more

If you want to try a nice by the water bar setting, then this is the place you would want to try. I am a burger fan to the fullest and going back to my hometown, I would've never known this place exist. The have a great selection of burgers to try. I seem to stay in the classic burgers. Their burgers has that homemade taste to it. You can tell that they put their own seasoning to it and the meat is very thick. Great place to eat and then to enjoy the Waterfront. I would recommend going when it is warme read more

The food was pretty good but the baked potato was really small. The only downside was the band was very loud so be prepared for a loud bar atmosphere. The waiter was wonderful and everyone was super friendly! read more

Walked in at 11:58. 5 old geezers sitting at bar drinking and were told that they didn't open until 12 by bartender. No take a seat be with you in a couple minutes. No thank you. Walked out. read more

If you like a pleasant atmosphere and good food, don't go here. The waitress was extremely rude, never even bothered to look at us. She said to another customer, who was not rude, but had only ask a question. "According to the owner, I have the right to refuse service to anyone who is rude!" The party of 9 was wanting to pull two tables on the patio together. Two tables over against a wall out of the way. I have never, in over 60 year of eating out, seen such rudeness as this. The food was nothing great. I won't go back. read more

Unfortunately Yelp doesn't provide fot a rating lower than one star or I would have posted that. The server, if I could use that term of professionalism, was anything but that in the course of delivering an appetizer and two sandwiches. She couldn't even get the "grilled" chicken part of the order right. We should have waited the 25 min for Plums or any other restaurant than this one. The frozen appetizer deep fried more than once was saturated in oil. Skip the burger--I wouldn't feed it to my dogs. This is my first bad restaurant review. It explains why Yelp has given Luther's low a rating level. I think the riverfront public restrooms were cleaner than the discharged cigarette butts every where. Nasty! read more

We were surprised to see that most restaurants are closed or close early on Sunday. Luther's was only option after 5. We enjoyed the dry rub wings which were excellent and split a burger with cole slaw. I normally don't eat bar food but this was quite good. read more

I'm an old soul, I guess, because this bar was an awful end to our night. We went out after a wedding and walked in to a crowd of sweaty old men ogling all the girls. Uncomfortable. The music was so loud the whole building was shaking and you couldn't hear anyone. The bartenders and bouncer all seemed like they were in hell. I got a gin and tonic and I'm honestly 90% sure she didn't put any gin in it. I guess I could be snooty and I'm a lowcountry native so not into these touristy hangouts but if you're looking for a bar, please go somewhere else. It was a highly uncomfortable and disappointing experience. read more

Great wings hands down. Beautiful ocean view and located in downtown Beaufort. You can walk around, shop and sightsee in the area then stop in for some wings. There is a nice drink selection and plenty of room to watch the games. The staff is really nice and the food is even better . My husband and I split 12 wings , which were pretty big, and walked out full. The bathroom was also very clean and they do allow pets on the patio. read more

I'll start with my summary: If these are the best burgers in Beaufort, I'm glad I started here because now I know to NEVER get another burger in Beaufort. Okay, now that THAT'S out of the way... Honestly, for us there just wasn't much to like about this place. Well actually, my wife's wings were pretty good (which is the only reason I gave this place two stars), but my burger may have been one of the worst I've ever eaten outside my Navy mess deck days. Well-done when I ordered medium-rare, flavorless (due to the over-cooking), and on a sesame bun with the texture of week-old bread. Blech. And the fries seemed as though they had been cooked and just hanging around for s couple of hours before being reheated to serve to us. Funny. As we were walking up to Luther's from the marina we saw other restaurants doing a pretty brisk business, while Luther's seemed really slow. I should have taken that as a sign to stay away. We won't return. read more

So yes those fries are darker than a politicians soul but there were still tasty. The Brewsky Burger, not sure if I spelled that correctly, was really good. Especially coupled with the Morgan Creek tea. Hot damn!! No the shrimp and crab dip would have got five veg stars on its on. However it was coupled with bugles, yes the Freddy Kruger snack that made you feel like a Thunder Cat. I would eat here again. Also the live band today was amazing! read more

All the bad reviews of this place are spot on. I only wished we had checked Yelp before eating here. Waitress was unfriendly, where's the southern hospitality?? Burgers were dry and tasteless, fish sandwich was blah, same breading used on fried pickles. Wings were terrible. My daughter was told twice that her steak fries were "on the way" yet we were all finished eating before they came, and we were still charged for them. Had to ask for a water refill and the bill. There were 6 of us but only five ate yet she still added gratuity, way more than she earned. Do. Not. Waste. Your. Money. Here!!! read more

BUSY holiday...rude customers in a jam packed restaurant/outdoor dining. Poor waitresses were understaffed. However, Tara (our outdoor waitress) came into work early to help the other two waitresses. Tara was great and even with the complaining customers who obviously expected to be served and waited on immediately (even though the restaurant was slammed). Our group of four all ordered beverages and the "Brewsky burger" (sp?). Two ordered rare, but were served medium. Two others ordered medium and came out medium. Good flavor on the burgers. Great fries! Four stars (mainly for the servers). Thank you Tara for great service and maintaining a positive/pleasant attitude in the face of adversity. read more

I offer this most sincerely suggestion to any and all vistors in the Beaufort area. "Ya Can't visit Beaufort without stopping in at Luthers." Once inside the doors, head east the thirty paces or so to where the bar and dining area are located. Given the prime piece of real estate, all menu items are extremely well priced and as delicious as any bar kitchen anywhere can pass out the smallish window that seperates the kitchen grunts from the dining area. There are other eateries along this waterfront that charge more than two times Luthers, albeit not necessarily bar-ish food, so the dollar comparison is not entirety befitting. I've had the opportunity to get to know a few of the fine folks over mt years of passing through. Stretch, Stretches Mom, Kanani and others all have made my memories of Luthers more memorable than I could have asked for. read more

We used to eat here all the time, however, those times are gone. The last 2 times have been mediocre at best. The staff does not pay attention to your order and delivers incorrect orders to the table. I can understand and the cook makes a mistake, but the wait staff should pay attention and check the order before it is delivered to the table and actually pay attention when you order. Once the order was sorted out, it arrived over cooked and tasted like burnt cooking oil. See pic. Okay, so that covers the wife's order. Now, on to my son's order. He ordered the "classic burger" cooked medium. It came out damn near raw. The order was returned and he did not eat because he lost his appetite. See pic. read more

Stopped in Saturday afternoon for lunch. Service was great and the food was even better! Super busy, but real friendly. Would've got 5 stars if the parking was easier. Luther's is a little cramped, but it is definitely worth the visit, especially if you're hungry! read more

Solid bar with lots of tvs to watch the bowl games on new year's day. We were looking for a quick bite to eat and just hang and stumbled upon Luther's. We easily got a seat at the bar and ordered. The bartender, Scott, was great and very friendly. Food was good. Salad was standard from the bag with a few fresh cukes and grape tomatoes. We got the balsamic vinegrette which was excellent and served on the side. Our pizza was definitely personal sized, as it easily fit on a dinner plate. Standard cheese pie with a thinner crust, good sauce and mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Draft beer was $2.50 each which is significantly less than we are used to pay. Appeared to be a good number of locals. By the time we left, the place was practically full, so our timing was great. read more

We have been going to Luther's since we first started coming to Beaufort in 2018. We normally like to come to town during the Taste of Beaufort and Luther's has always had terrific food, Yesterday evening was a really bad experience. Me and our group of 6 stopped in to have a few beverages and Hydrate. The beer was ice cold and service was okay so we decided since we were there to go ahead and grab some appetizers first and then we would get into the entrees We ordered chili cheese nachos, cheese stick and some shrimp. When the appetizers came to the table we all looked at each other but went ahead to give it a try. The nacho's were really soggy and I will bet money it had some homel chili pored on top with cheese and threw into microwave. The cheese sticks were burnt and could not be eaten, the shrimp was real rubbery. So we paid out bill and got up and went elsewhere for our main meal to which the food was excellent = I will tell about that place in another yelp. I hope this was just a one time ordeal and they get back on track but with what we paid for the appetizers I would expect the food to be fresh. I am sorry for the two star but I always ell it like it is. PLEASE get a new cook and get it together as we loved the atmosphere and food in the past and will probably give it another try next year. read more

I was sooooo looking forward to having a nice meal by the Waterfront Park. I sprang for the beef rib plate (roughly $23) mainly because I wanted vegetables. It was massively disappointing! The ribs were over cooked, dry, and tough. Those vegetables I mentioned? Disgusting!! I don't know what spices they poured onto them, but I couldn't even eat them. As far as cleanliness goes, the tables were sticky, and floors slick, and the chairs had an...interesting... residue. The server was rude and impersonal. She didn't offer suggestions when we were ordering. She didn't refill our water glasses. This was not my first time visiting Beaufort, but it was my first experience with Luther's. It was also my last. If I were you, I'd try Que on Bay, Hearth, or a sandwich from Common Ground. read more

Tried to have lunch. When you walk in the sign says to seat yourself. Well, don't!! Boy does the wait staff get angry!! Very nasty people who say that if we sit they will not serve us. Luther's was recommended to us. Our dining experience was mixed most likely due to how busy they were. We sat outside and was (1) "barked at" to move from a table for 4 to a table of 2. (2) Then ignored for 20 minutes and the apology was "you only waited a Southern minute." Hmmmm. Once the wait staff got to serving us, they were pleasant, accommodating and efficient. A B-B-Q hamburger and a chicken entree was enjoyed while overlooking the waterfront park and bay beyond. If you go - anticipate that your wait service may be mixed - this way you won't be disappointed. read more

Tried Luther's tonight, looking for a casual place for sandwiches and burgers and were not disappointed! Laid back, local place ... lots of TVs and live music weekly too (not tonight tho). We sat at the bar (had a view of the waterfront too!), chatted with the friendly bartender and enjoyed some drinks while waiting for our food. Typical bar fare ... we had the pretzels with beer cheese app (eaten before I could get a pic!) and then a turkey Brie wrap and the shrimp po boy special. Everything was quite good! I love this place! No matter what time of the day this place is great! From the rustic, feel to the inside to quaint little outdoor patio area overlooking the water this place has the best charm! You can't go to the Low Country without making a stop here! And the food is pretty darn good as well! The burgers are always a hit! Staff with a huge attitude. From the moment we walked in our server Monica acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. Food was OK, the view in the outdoor dining area over the waterfront was beautiful, and the great selection of 50s and 60s music raised our review to two stars. This place is more a bar than a restaurant but it was about the only place opened on Bay St. on a Monday evening and that is why we ended up eating there. Perhaps they should change the name to Luther's First and Last. First time there is your last time! read more

Dined at restaurant on Sat 1/20/18 at noon! We had a large group as we were having just the 1st cousins for reunion! Everyone seemed to have something different to eat! One had fish &chips, several had club burgers. I didn't realize it was on bread. I guess I was expecting a regular burger bun! I shared story with our waiter about when my Mother was small and she had to run get Dr. Luther for one of her siblings was sick! That was probably in late 1920's or 1930's! When the restaurant was actually a Pharmacy! My Mother's family was a long time residents of Beaufort!!! Would recommend! read more

I work in the local area and have been to Luther's many times. This current visit was the worst. The waitress walked past us many times and never acknowledged our table... of two people. We witnessed her being overly friendly with the older male patrons at the bar and other tables, but she was less than pleasant with us. Another waitress slammed plates down when we asked for plates for our appetizer. The best part was when my mayonnaise came to the table. It was sealed in a plastic cup. What is that?? I wanted to speak to the waitress but she never came back to us, even to check on our food! We also waited for almost 15 minutes for the check. Probably will be a while before we come back. This treatment is very bad for local business. read more

The service is AMAZING! We have nothing but great things to say about the servers...it's just really unfortunate that they get put in the situation where they have to apologize for management issues! We ordered the white pizza, a cheddar jalapeño burger with bacon, a French dip sandwich and two Yuegling on draft. Beer came out, only one, flat and tasted old. We switched to Miller Lite. Server came back and apologized profusely but they couldn't make pizza because the oven wasn't working right. It was burning it. We ordered the shrimp and crab dip instead. The food came out and there was no bacon on the burger. We caught the server before he left and told him and he had to say they were out of bacon...on half priced burger night. The burger was something that I could make better in my backyard. It was not even on par with a fast food joint, seriously. The French dip was good, just warm-ish but good. The dip...it was good, a little oily and was served with plain white roll that was half sliced and bugles. No BS, "Big Lots" style, .99 cent a big bag BUGLES! Managers...come on. Step it up. Your servers are great!! Help them out and make the restaurant worthy of them. read more

Went here for dinner. Another weird experience with the service. We got the same server we had last time and we decided she wasn't any happier on this visit. This time we asked for suggestions on what was good on the menu. The food here is kind of hit or miss, so we figured we might do better if we asked. She recommended the burgers and the french dip, so I tried the french dip. It was actually surprisingly good. We had the burgers on our last visit and they were good as well. The wings were good but they could have been cooked a little longer. Our friends got the meatball sub and the pepperoni pizza. Nothing great but they were edible. This place has a great location and ok food, I just wish they had people working with customers that didn't make you feel like you were imposing by spending your money there. read more

I was blown away by how good the burger was. I was expecting it to be so, so since most places like this don't really know how to make a good burger. Boy was I ever wrong. One of the best bar burgers I have ever had. What a pleasant surprise. The fries were good to. read more

Disappointing is putting it mildly. Bad service. Bad food tonight. Been there many times before and after tonight I decided to join Yelp just to say how far down this place has gotten. I definitely understand that good help is hard to find these days but you can't blame everything on that. The staff absolutely could not have cared any less if we got a table, a menu, a drink or dinner. Once our orders arrived, my cheese steak was flavorless, my wife's burger was missing any and all condiments (tried to get wait staff attention to bring us some but wouldn't make eye contact) my buddy waited 20 mins for a beer. Watched it get warm on the bar while we ate. Finally came (warm) with the check. I sincerely hope the restaurant reads these reviews and understands that it isn't fun to write bad reviews but hopefully sees this as an opportunity to correct things that are pretty easy to correct and grow their reputation and business into one the can be proud of. read more

Nothing like a Lowcountry Christmas...the smell of salt marshes in the winter, the 60 degree weather on Christmas Eve...I could get used to this. On the main street of Beaufort, Luther's is a little homey burger bar set in a building that was a pharmacy in the early 20th century. While they have other options (vegetarian pizza, salads, and a French dip with mozzarella and mushrooms), I had to go with the BBQ bacon burger--Soco BBQ sauce, thick slices of bacon on a big fluffy bun, served up with sour cream 'n chive french fries. While the burger was not the best I've ever had, it was still goooood. I asked for medium, and it was still juicy, and the BBQ sauce added the perfect tang. I would have liked my fries a little warmer, but I didn't care really--the subtle flavor just kept me shoveling them in, wanting more! Luther's seems like a warm place, and the service was Southern hospitality at its kindest. The wood tables and chairs and big wood bar help it retain a saloon-type feel, and you just want to hang out, drink a Yuengling and enjoy your fried (!) pickle. Side note: we also ordered the crab shrimp dip as an appetizer, and it was oily and delish. Served with French bread slices and Bugles (genius), there's no better way to get some food in your tummy if you can't quite wait for your burger. Enjoy! read more

Even considering that we landed at Luther's on Memorial Day at noon, this was the first time I have ever actually witnessed a restaurant completely melt down before. We sat down at 12:05 on the dot. The place was only half full, both inside and out. We were given menus and drink orders by 12:07, food ordered by 12:09 ... Then, just like the refugees in Casablanca, we waited, and we waited, and we waited. At 12:45 I was looking for a waitress to find out what the drinks cost so we could get out there and go somewhere else. The waitress I flagged down gave me another drink (which I think was destined for a different table) and said our food was coming right out. There were three dishes ordered: 1) a French Dip sandwich 2) a shrimp burger and 3) a tossed salad. More than a half hour after ordering, the salad hadn't even come out! 1 PM - waitress runs by (almost literally) and lands a salad on the table. She said something about calling the manager in because the kitchen was only serving orders placed inside (we were on the now completely full patio). The salad, amazingly, was frozen! Ever seen frozen iceberg lettuce? Ever seen a tomato turn to mush as it thaws? This was inedible. 1:10 PM the manager comes out with the Beef sandwich which was precut roast beef on a toasted bun (I could have made this in 10 minutes or less). The au jus was a plastic container of canned beef broth heated in a microwave (30 seconds, tops) and a pre-packaged dab of coleslaw. The shrimp burger, the only part of the meal that even required some cooking, was burned black and still smoking (it smelled, and looked, like a burned tire). Our guest looked at the "burger" and said "I'm not eating that!". The manager said, "Sorry, I should have looked closer," then ran off with the plate. 1:15 and I'm still the only person with an edible meal. 1:25 flagged down the waitress again and told her to forget everything but my sandwich and the drinks and to get us the bill. 1:35 flagged the waitress down again and asked if we could PLEASE have the check we asked for 20 minutes earlier! She said "They're taking off the turnkey and Swiss sandwich now." I called, as she left, "The what?" but she was gone. 1:40 we get the bill. We were charged $2.50 for the inedible frozen salad. I was beyond caring at this point, shoved some money in the bill and beat feet out of there. On the way out I noticed that only one other table in the patio area even had food on it. Maybe the rest were just having drinks, but I did hear some people talking about going down to the hotdog stand in the municipal parking lot because the service was faster. Judging by our experience, I really don't understand why this place has so many good reviews. I ended up taking the others to a coffee shop for a snack, since I was the only one who actually managed to get a meal out of this wasted afternoon. Next time I'm in town, I think the hotdog stand sounds pretty good. read more

A group of us ate at Luther's before we went on a walking tour. We were crunched for time so had to find a place that we could have fast service. We sat at the bar and had a very good waitress.
