Met my son here around 11 and ended up having a perfect little brunch. We caught it during a slower time which made the whole experience relaxed and really enjoyable. The service was wonderful, friendly and attentive without hovering, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It all tasted fresh and well prepared. (Our first experience, two years ago just after they opened, was terrible, slow to non existent service, cold overcooked breakfasts.) Smothered salad--Yuck! Server took 20 minutes to come to our table and the restaurant wasn't even a tenth full. Then she forgot our drinks--they came mid meal. She never checked on us--we had to flag another server. My husband and I ate brunch here today with our parents. We had a 30 min wait and were more than happy to wait. There was one employee who was seating people as well as running the register, you could tell he was overwhelmed. Once we were sat, a young lady came to take our drink order, my husband ordered a Bloody Mary but did not have his ID, (he's 50) so my dad ordered the Bloody Mary and told the waitress he would just order it for him and the waitress obliged. She brought the drink and sat it in front of my husband. The food arrived after waiting for 30-45 min and it was cold. Our server never refreshed our drinks or came back to check on us. When we were almost finished with our food (that we did not complain about), the manager approached our table and told my husband "I was told you ordered a Bloody Mary but didn't have your ID so you are not supposed to be drinking it". I responded with "the waitress knew that the drink was for him and brought it anyway so she shouldn't have done that at all if it was an issue and you shouldn't have waited until he was half way done with it to say something". He proceeded to jerk the glass off the table and walk away. He did bring us a water and had a different server bring us the check. Once we got to the register, my husband asked the cashier to take the Bloody Mary off because he was not allowed to finish it. The cashier looked at me and said loudly, "your shirt stands for Natzi behavior, racism and violence". I was wearing a shirt with a war eagle on it, it absolutely DOES NOT stand for that! I was humiliated! He then proceeds to point his finger and tell me that I should be ashamed of myself and that we would have never been seated and would have been kicked out if he would have seen it beforehand. My mother said "I don't think we'll be back". He looked at my mother and yelled "Good!! Never come back, you're not welcome here". My family was embarrassed, humiliated and appalled at the way we were treated. WE WILL NEVER EVER EAT AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!!! read more

Wow, I didn't expect this place to be so good. I reviewed some of the comments and I don't know why they were not good. So here's a good one. I was fortunate to be close to this place because many places in the area are closed on Sundays or closed early, so it was a plus that this place was nearby. It was really busy, but it moved very quickly since it was only me I sat at the bar section. Everyone was really kind and helpful. They were also playing good music in the background everything that I ordered was deliciousand I ordered a quinoa, coconut pudding, pancakes, peanut butter toast, and a kale salad to go. Sunday morning... it was very busy. Our wait for a table was only 5 minutes. Our food came out in a relatively short time. We ordered an omelet which came with well seasoned potatoes and their artisan bread which was a thick cut which we liked and a side biscuit which was cut in half and grilled which was terrible.. I've never been served a grilled biscuit before and I did not expect it to be grilled. Our server never came back to service our table and our request for a take away coffee was never serviced. The atmosphere is welcoming and the quality of the omelet was very good. I left disappointed. My overall experience is a mixed bag. read more

It was me and my husband's first time here and we will not be coming back. The food is not worth the price and my husband's order was completely wrong. He ordered the chilly chorizo omelette which randomly comes with a handful of spinach on the plate. He also ordered the breakfast tacos with chorizo and they gave him chicken. The only thing you could taste from the taco was the corn tortilla, he had to separate the weird mix of black beans and pico and the beans were submerged in some mystery liquid. We only saw our waitress three times and other staff had to come up to our table to do her job for her. They give you big glass of water on the table with you for you to pour your own water. I thought that was kind of neat until I realized it was because the staff is not able to keep up with tables at all. We had four different staff wait on our table which is absolutely ridiculous. If you're a regular here then you do you but for new people do not go here. The experience overall was terrible and the price for the food is not worth it and it's especially not worth the wait to get a table. read more

Visited Beaufort for a long weekend and ended up eating here twice. The service was great, our waitress was very pleasant and did a great job filling our drinks and checking up on us. The food was very good, took a little long to come out but everywhere nowadays is short staffed and both times we were there it was busy. First watch is what I would call a trendy or hipster brunch place. If you like whole grain all natural food then this is the place for you. Lots of veggies, greens, great coffee and morning drinks like mimosas. The service was ok. They are understaffed and running a little behind but it wasn't that bad of a wait for the food. Make sure you go online and get in the online wait list before you drive over as sometimes the line can be 30-45 mins long. We started with the holey donuts, they were warm, soft, and delicious. They also come with a chocolate sauce and a berry jam but they are great just on their own. The wife got the market hash. She said it was good. I got the ham and Gruyère omelette. It was big, the eggs were light and fluffy, and it had a good flavor. The potatoes were just a tad tough in the middle like they were taken off just a minute or two too soon but also tasted good. Not much in the way of seasoning but it had a good natural flavor. That whipped butter on the toast was fantastic and it comes with a house made seasonal berry preserve to put on top. Overall I would say it's a great place for brunch with a large variety of options for everyone even the meat eaters like myself but the all natural food crowd would really love this as a brunch place for fresh whole food. read more

I really do enjoy the food choices at First watch but what I don't like is having my food served on the cool side with no silverware to eat it. My drink going dry and taken for a refill and put to the side while our waitress takes others orders and delivers their drinks. Imagine ordering a hash with peppers or jalapeño crème without having something to drink? This is the my second visit here with this particular waitress, she never writes things down, forgets the simple things and acts "busy". Cynthia was an absolute gem during our visit to First Watch! From the moment we sat down, she was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. I ordered the watermelon wake-up juice (so refreshing!), a cup of coffee, and the shrimp and grits--which were rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My friend went with the sandwich and salad combo and a lemonade, and Cynthia made sure everything came out just right. We've eaten at a few First Watch locations since relocating to the low country and I will say the Beaufort location is pretty legit. Their menu has a lot to offer and you can even kick off a weekend of day drinking here thanks to their cocktail menu. The staff here is awesome and will make you laugh. We were seated promptly and attended to by Ally, who was charming and knowledgeable The food was excellent and we were very happy. How many times must we be disappointed after dining in Beaufort restaurants? The remodel for First Watch was quite good (formerly a Ruby Tuesday). It definitely had a low country vibe, clean lines, big windows, and nice wood tables. The menu leaned heavily toward breakfast and brunch. Lunch offerings...not so much. Our server, Jonathan, was very young. He did his perfunctory duties, but never really rose to a level of service that would be described as good. He didn't check on us after our meals were served, because if he had, my husband would have ordered something else. When my husband did finally inform Jonathan about his bowl, he stared blankly in return. No acknowledgement whatsoever. My husband said "you should inform the kitchen" he promptly turned around and went on to take care of his other customers. Wow. The farmhouse hash bowl my husband ordered included eggs over hard (they weren't) potatoes, tomatoes, bacon bits, avocado and onions. The salt on the potatoes rendered them inedible and frankly just ruined the dish. He also mentioned that the fresh squeezed orange juice tasted bitter. My two massive brioche French toast slices lacked a cohesive custard coating (that didn't even soak into the bread). There was none of the promised cinnamon sugar. The saving grace was the tiny ramekin of berry compote. Without it, this would have been a completely dry and flavorless meal. The most important and astounding thing we learned about the kitchen's offerings was the incredible amount of sodium levels in many of their dishes. Don't be fooled by all their bragging about health and nutrition. One of their showcased brunch items, the Chickichanga had 3030 mg of sodium, A classic eggs Benedict rang in at almost 2,000, while a Monterey Club (sandwich only) was a gasping 2545 mg. (Just for comparison a Big Mac comes in at 1,050mg). My French toast with a berry compote had 840 milligrams. No sides, just bread in an egg custard. How is this possible? Upon reviewing the nutrition of dozens of other meals, even the healthy choice ones, we realized that The American Heart Association (which is striving to get adults to consume no more than 1,500 mg A DAY) would certainly not approve of most of the dishes served here. I can certainly understand doing an occasional splurge - nutrition be damned- once in awhile, but the food wasn't even good. We will save our money and our heart health. read more

Glad a First watch opened here in Beaufort. Would make the drive to Bluffton every weekend to eat at the one there. I'm gluten-sensitive, and my sandwich was served open faced. Waitress didn't know why. The food was very good. The plate was chipped. Our greeter explained they were short people. AND they had new people in the kitchen Flies in the dining room. Don't recommend it until they get their staffing issues fixed. Second time here... similar result. Very slow service. Everything on the menu is extremely strange. My omelette came with a side of lettuce which makes no sense and did not come with potatoes.
