Cool bar in heart of Beaufort with great views of the harbor and sometimes the shrimp boats. We sat at the bar and our bartender was a nice young lady who provided good service. We both ordered draft beers and while the glass was chilled, the beer wasn't cold. We got bottles the next time and they were nice and cold. As for lunch, my wife got a cheesesteak which was delicious. It could have had more cheese but the steak with the onions and peppers were in point. A friend of mine, who grew up in Beaufort told me about shrimp burgers and I've never had one before. I think it's ground up shrimp made into patties and cooked like a burger. When I saw it on the menu a Luther's I had to order it. Damn, that was good. It has a nice crust which changes the flavor of the shrimp somewhat but in a good way. The fries were good but I wasn't a fan of the Cole slaw. Definitely recommend but get your beer in bottles. read more

Me and my husband went there for the first time last weekend and we absolutely loved it. Our server was Lizzie. She was so sweet so attentive to our needs and then we went back today and we had I think her name was Maddie. She was just as nice and very attentive to our needs, even though the whole place was packed tight today. Food is absolutely phenomenal. My personal favorite is deep fried pickles and nachos. They just compliment each other so well I recommend this place highly and it's just so chill in there. The ambience of the inside of the building is just so chill and fun. read more

Very casual bar, we went with the fam while staying the night- it wasn't our first choice, but we mostly enjoyed. Def feels like it needs some up keep, but not bad. Everything. Is pretty well priced, and the beer selection is just enough. My dad ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap, and there was barely any chicken in it. Our little one got a plain hotdog and enjoyed it. Looking for a new place in Beaufort on a Tuesday for dinner. Entered from the back side facing the park and waterfront. We sat outside on a nice evening. Not crowded and server was very nice. My wife ordered wings split with a wet and dry rub sauces and she liked both. I ordered the fish nuggets with fries basket. Fish was tender in a light batter and good mild taste. Steak fries were average. We both enjoyed a different brew on tap. Another patron said the burgers are really good so we will come back and try them. Luther's has both inside and outdoor seating. I sat outside to take advantage of the views. The restaurant was seat yourself but it took a while for me to even be acknowledged. The two tables that sat down after I did were brought menus and drink orders were taken pretty quickly but it took 10 minutes before anyone stopped by my table. I wasn't impatient and figured one waitress was trying to take care of everyone. It was busy inside. But when I did get service it was really good and this was the only Beaufort restaurant that refilled my tea. I ordered the cranberry salad and added shrimp. Usually places put 5 or 6 shrimp on the salad but I had at least 10 shrimp on this salad and they were very generous with the toppings of dried cranberries and walnuts. These reviews are funny AF. Anyway, we wanted to get out of our Airbnb the day after Thanksgiving so we took a drive to Bay St. We stumbled into Luther's because it looked like the only place open. I was a little hesitant because I remembered all the 1-star reviews. But there was a high top open and it was happy hour. It was fine. We had 3 drinks but the check was only $11!!! I doubt we could've drank at home for that price. My daughter used to be a server and she said the bartender was awesome. Not a great experience. The waitress was incredibly rude to everyone that was in the institution. She was very inconsiderate of everyone. The restaurant was not very busy but the service was horrible. She did not bring someones food and when we asked she quickly caught an attitude. I went to Beaufort to explore the city and had my heart set on some seafood. I walked around Bay Street and the waterfront and every place was packed. Luther's had some seats at the bar so I sat down. There was a limited amount of seafood on the menu, so I decided to have a burger. Best decision I have made in months. The Brewski burger with potato salad was one of the best Meals I've had in a long time. Seasoned and cooked perfectly, it was topped with crispy bacon and blue cheese that was melted. This is my friend's local weekend favorite, so on my recent visit, he made sure we dropped in on the Marine Corps birthday. Sadly, Tropical Storm Nicole had downtown pretty much on lockdown, so the expected crowds were non-existent. No fault to Luther's and we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. The menu is pretty basic - good bar food for sure. We felt very tended to and welcomed. I ordered the French Dip poboy and he ordered a spinach salad. The sandwich was great - thinly sliced beef with a light layer of cheese and he au jus was light and not overpowering. I got the coleslaw with it and that was just delicious. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and there are a couple of resident cats to greet you as you arrive. Conversation with the staff was great and it was nice to see the owner was around and talking to people. Overall, a nice little place to drop into. Hopefully I'll return in better weather and take advantage of the views and some more experience with the locals! read more

When rating places you need to rate them according to service, ambiance, food, and overall experience. This is a dive bar, so it is exactly that and great at being what it is meant to be! It's not where you go to get the absolute best food Beaufort has to offer. But you do get a fun time and at a great price point! The bartender was awesome, sure it took a few to get a drink but the bar was full and really most the place is the bar. It wraps all the way around with tables on the outside. The view is awesome, can't beat right on the water. Great place to watch a game, and fabulous $4 bloody Mary's. I ordered the wings and for $15 for 12 that were pretty large I'd say that's a deal. So it's not the best of the best food wise but for a dive bar it's great! I had the best time watching the Playoffs and seems to be frequented by locals too. read more

We showed up late on a Sunday afternoon, when many of the restaurants are beginning to shut down & most shops were already closed. We approached from the waterfront side and were welcomed by a busy waitress, who admitted right away that she was working alone. My friend & I, who had her little dog on a leash, took seats on the patio, with a great view. I ordered the quesadilla cones, she ordered the French dip. We both had vodka & sodas with cranberry juice. I didn't get photos of the food on this visit, but will next time. The cones weren't bad, but were definitely bar food. They were hot & overfilled little tortilla pieces rolled and fried with beans & cheese. They were served in a little basket. I took advantage of the sour cream to add some cool factor & they were quite good. My friend enjoyed her French dip. Our server was friendly and fast and made our visit enjoyable. Stopped in on a recent Saturday afternoon just after 1pm. Got seated on the patio and was told it's a bit of a wait for food, and our group of 4 said no worries, we just want to get a couple beers. The waitress said great, I'll be right back....which was the last we heard from her. After about 15 minutes another waitress came over. We said we are just looking for a couple beers. Decided to sit down for an afternoon drink and app. The food was not fresh at all, as the waiter honestly told us that the items we were ordering were not made in-house. This is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. We were a party of six and arrived about 7PM. I feel confident that there was only 1 server working and she was steady. As it got closer to 8:30 ,business picked up and by 8:45 the bar area was packed. And there were 2 bartenders. Food was mediocre, at best. I had the french dip ,basically no flavor, even the au jus looked like colored water. Others at our table had chicken wrap and steak and cheese, both were also so-so.. It was an experience, I do love the old building, and as a bar, it was probably good. But not a restaurant we will visit again read more

We stopped in to kill an hour before our scheduled tour. We waited nearly half an hour for someone to acknowledge our presence, then another 15 minutes to get our drinks. None of our drinks tasted right. Not just watered down (though that too) but really off. My tonic tasted more like soda, for example. It didn't have that characteristic "tonic" taste. Our server was MIA for another 15 minutes but when she finally came by she just said she could sell us another shot for each of our drinks. Refused to have bartender redo them or check the beverage mixes. When we said that wouldn't solve the problem she just told us to go next door to Hemingway's and we'd have better luck there, so we did, but Hemingway's is 21+ and we had a child with us. Usually my favorite place to eat, but not today. We tried to sit 5 people at a 4-top (outside) and were told very rudely that we couldn't. As a former waitress, I understood. As I tried to ask where we could sit...the same waitress told us that we were in her way and wouldn't help us. This is a casual watering hole with a nice patio. They have a full bar and have an interesting twist on pub foods. Inside has a big bar with TVs. Outside patio faces the park / greens. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a good selection of pub food and beer. We liked their pizza with bacon and jalapenos. This used to be a pharmacy that's why you see Rx on their sign. We were waiting to be seated and picked up a food basket someone left, to empty in the trash can, simply to be kind and helpful and the server snapped at us to leave it alone and said "the tables are dirty for a reason" to which we replied we were only trying to be helpful and she rudely dressed me down in front of the rest of the customers. She could have been kind, but her apparent lack of empathy made kindness impossible for here. I will steer everyone away from ever stopping at Luther's. I can't comment at all about the food here but what I can tell you is that we enjoyed some drinks on the lovely outdoor patio one fine evening here and it was delightful. It's a great place to go for drinks and a great view of the water and equally good people-watching opportunities. We stopped by before our dinner plans at another restaurant one evening sometime during Happy Hour... which isn't terribly much of a happy hour entitling one as it does to a mere .50 cents off beer or wine but that was really beside the point anyway. We wanted to be outside with a cocktail. It had been a beautiful hot clear day that was turning into a similarly wonderful evening. The Luther's patio faces right out onto the inter-coastal waterway so coming here was a good choice. Much to my astonishment, coming from the city as I do, we immediately found a table out on the patio. Had we been home, arriving during a happy hour, all the tables would have already been filled and we would have been standing up somewhere with drinks in hand. I am always pleasantly surprised when getting seats somewhere out in public isn't a hassle like it can be in Boston. Here, we got front row seats to the great outdoors. I had two glasses of prosecco and hubby had two beers. Our waitperson was lovely and didn't mind one bit that we had prime real estate and only the drinks to show for the room we were taking up. That's the way to run a place, hospitality always. Given the low quality of the meal we went on to have later on at the Dockside, I'm wishing we had stayed at Luther's and had our dinner there.
