I've been a customer at Lutfi's Fried Fish in Raytown for over seven years. This location was one of the first reviews I did when I came to Yelp and they really deserve an update and that FIFTH STAR. They are consistently just about as 'good as it gets'! First Friday of Lent saw me calling in an order for their wonderful catfish fillet strips which are seasoned just right and have a satisfying crunch with every bite. (I'm writing my update between bites with a napkin on my lap so I can type and eat at the same time). For my two sides that come with the Daily Dinners, I ordered two of my favs: Red Beans and Rice and Lutfi's famous Greens. If you are checking out the online menu you won't find the greens listed for the Raytown location, but be sure to ask if they have them, if you like greens, because these are exceptional. The Greens always hit the spot and their version of Red Beans and Rice is just to my liking with a nice bit of kick in the seasoning. Lutfi's is my dining destination at least once a month throughout the year -- but during Lent, they can expect to see me almost every Friday. Was hesitant to go in but immediately fell in love! The guy working the front was so nice and walked me through the menu. Ordered to go and was sooo happy when I got home! Catfish was crispy, spaghetti was delicious & I could taste the homemade flavors in the tarter sauce. 10/10 recommend! read more

After reading the mostly excellent reviews I was fairly disappointed with the product. I ordered chicken and shrimp with Mac and Cheese and Onion tings in the side. The Mac and cheese was decent though a little bland. The onion rings were fair but nothing great. The 4 chicken wings were the biggest disappointment, 2 were ok though over cooked, the other two were so over cooked that they could not be chewed, literally as hard as tire rubber. The shrimp was ok but seemed somewhat undercooked. Add to that meal a Pepsi and the it cost about $18. Not at all worth the price and not a place I would be looking to return to. read more

This quaint little business serves the very best fried fish! I love the catfish fillets. They are thick, moist and flaky pieces of delicious, well seasoned heaven on a plate. NO greasy fingers and not even a drop of oil on the plate. The sides are southern good with greens, sweet potato fries, red beans and rice, etc... The price is right and you can get several kinds of fish to your liking. Mine happens to be catfish. On Sundays you can enjoy all-you-care-to-eat family style fish and sides for under $10.00. All the food I've had tastes excellent. I have been here over 20 times and all the food is the same, consistently very good. The service is very friendly. The wait is typical for freshly prepared food. Growing up in Oklahoma, fried catfish is one of my greatest guilty pleasures. The crispy, flavorful crust on soft, flaky fish with a generous helping of southern classic sides like hush puppies and okra keeps me up at night. Great place for a quick meal!! I went in and ordered it to go. It was ready in less than 15 minutes. We had the family meal with catfish, mac & cheese & red beans and rice! Soooooo good! We also got some hush puppies, but a large was way to big. So unless you have 6-8 people...get the small. The large order had like 24 hush puppies!! We would definitely eat there again! read more

The first thing I love is the friendly service. I went in to grab lunch to go. The woman behind the counter was so genuinely happy and nice. When I told her it was my first time there, she share lots of things about the menu. I decided to go with the lunch special which was three pieces of fish and two sides. When she asked me if I wanted catfish or whiting, I told her to pick and she immediately said, "Catfish." I like just about anything so I ordered the sides she suggested which was cole slaw and mushrooms. All the food was great. I liked that the fish was breaded not battered. I also like that mushrooms were hot all the way through, which seems hard for some places to accomplish. Finally, I appreciate that she was not stingy with condiments like hot sauce, tarter sauce, and ranch dressing. I will definitely be visiting again! Oh, and the dessert! When I went to the counter to pick up my order I saw the glass case refrigerator with the desserts. They looked amazing, but I made myself leave with out one. That won't happen again! read more

The reason for my low rating today the fish and fries were very soggy when I got home very disappointed. It was under seasoned and usually it is very good crispy and well season just depends who cooks. Call in order in and was suppose to ready in 15 min. Arrived and was told should be ready in 10min time passed by they forgot it. It is just hit or miss with them nowdays. I suggest and many patrons redesign those styrofoam container so the steam can release so you want have soggy fish before you get home. After this bad experience I will have to take a hiatus from your resturant . read more
